[Q] Xperia T protoype WIFI and Radio issues - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

The problem: Xperia T prototype (0044 IMEI) will not run stable on most stock firmwares. WIFI only works with the ICS stock WIFI module (7.0.A.1.303 FW or flashing module to other firmwares). Also, baseband and IMEI is blanked out in settings. The radio is not working at all.
So after testing a lot of firmwares and roms (I must've flashed this phone 3,8 billion times by now...), this is the result:
NONE of the stock firmwares I've tried (almost all of them I think...) help
CM 10 seems to be working completely. At least radio and WIFI are fine for now.
CM10.1 and 11: WIFI working, baseband and IMEI are shown, I can scan networks, but can not register in any network.
CM10 is using Baseband 8960A-AAAAANAZQ-10015019-33, while 10.1 and 11 use 8960A-AAAAANAZQ-10015031-47.
So far so good (boy was I happy when I was able to dial a number in CM10!!!).
Now I would like to get a stock ROM working.
The question: How will I get the stock ROMs working? I would have to find out what CM is using that stock isn't. I'm actually quite confused about the fact that even the oldest stock (7.0.A.1.303, couldn't find any older one) would not work, while CM 10 will.

I read that some people here are using LT30p prototypes without issues and I'm wondering if any of you guys can help me getting there too.
When I got the phone, it was basically a mess. Service Menu will FC when trying to open configuration, loads of FCs here and there...it wouldn't wake up when the screen turns off, the WIFI wasn't working, Radio not working at all...
I was able to solve WIFI and FC by installing PACMAN v.23. This was mentioned on another forum.
So I'm wondering about the modules, lib, baseband etc that's used in there. Maybe someone can shed some light.
PACMAN shows this baseband: 8960A-AAAAANAZQ-10015031-47
WIFI is also working with 7.0.A.1.303 ICS and 7.0.A.3.223 ICS. Flashing the stock ICS WIFI module to other firmware versions fixes WIFI.
While I can search for networks in PM, I cannot log on to any of them. On stock the phone will detect when a SIM card is inserted and will reboot. After reboot, it will say there's no SIM card installed though.
Also, PAC will show the IMEI in the settings, all the stock firmwares don't.
@godfather4her: I'll mention you here since you might have some info on this .

Did some more testing and updated first post. Radio is finally working with CM 10.

I didn't mention that some of the stock firmwares use the same baseband as the one in CM10, that doesn't help though.
Also, coming from CM10 and flashing stock without baseband doesn't help.
This thread has had 150 views so far, but no responses. I know this might not be the usual problems that people have to deal with, but someone surely must have an idea

well u had the gut to unlock bootloader in order to run a custom rom like CM or Pacmac...etc... i didn't have because my phone is still under warranty and unlocking BL will void it.. that's why i sent to sony for a repair.
but i was wondering why you're using a prototype in the first place?
well i guess it's for devs or testing purposes, and it might be not the same like the official release. you're still lucky to have it detecting radio and wifi, because of a working Baseband and IMEI... refer that to sony by asking them to which country your phone was branded, then from that, get a hold on the initial firmware came installed in ur phone, might be some differences from SI(sale info) to another.
go to sony support, if u would like to either make a live chat with an agent or place a call, and ask them about your phone info as i told you. they would just request the imei number, then they will give u all the information u need about ur phone.
at least this will help you get to the correct stock u need to flash (hopefully to bring the radio functionality on).
good luck bro!

Well, ebay...you never know what you get
I didn't buy a prototype on purpose. It would be kinda foolish to spend money on a phone when you don't know whether you'll get it working again. Even though I have to admit that I appreciate the challenge
Prototypes are not supported at all. No warranty, no nothing. Of course I tried to get some information out of the support guys, but as I expected, that was a dead end.

I recently got Xperia T prototype as you said (IMEI 0044**). Can you tell me did you find anything more? I bought it with not working GSM and working WiFi. I tried to install stock firmware and now I don't have GSM neither WiFi?
What did you do? What should I do?
PS: I managed to get it working with CM10 rom

I have xt prototype and i installed 9.2.a.0.205 central european version and all is working normally. Try that version. And battery life is great.

Lucky you.
There are prototypes that seem to have slightly different hardware. I've heard from other people having XT protos that are running just fine on most, if not all firmware. Unfortunately, mine is not one of those.

Stock firmware. No root, locked bl.

Did a google search of my IMEI code and it seems it has gotten corrupted. Oh well time to find a new phone.

[Q] Upgrading to ICS has lost me my signal :(

Hi,
I have a Galaxy S GT-i9000 on Orange, UK. I've only had it a week because I bought it off my brother. I upgraded to ICS 4.0.3 and although it seems fine, there is no signal at all, EVER. Although it get's wireless Internet! And the SIM isn't damaged in any way, so it is definitely a software issue. The Internet is a bit strange, because it is coming from my network, not Wi-Fi (it's off, as is bluetooth).
I'm liking ICS, but obviously I need a signal. It was easy to upgrade, I just booted from the zip I placed in the bootloader. But I can't downgrade the same way. I've tried looking for old Gingerbread files, but can't find any! All the Depositfiles.com links are dead. So, ideally I would like to stick to ICS and find a signal fix, failing that I guess it's a downgrade that I need?
Or should I upgrade to Jellybean?
I couldn't find anything on people having similar problems with network loss, but I'm 99.99% certain it is the software causing the issue.
Thanks for reading.

I'm downloading DarkyROM now, but it's going to take 2 hours! Is this the right way to flash a modem? I've not done it before.
Hi
I had a similar problem on my old SGSI. I flashed an ics rom (don't remeber the name) and everything worked apart from the network so no phone calls and no internet apart from with Wifi. Anyway i googled the problem and tried loads of different solutions. After flashing more roms i ended up with the DarkyROM_v11.0_black_edition with the 3.0.17-semaphore_ics_1.2.5s kernel.
This didn't help either. In a last minute test at the end of what felt like the longest day in my life i checked to find that i had damaged one of the contact pins that read the sim card. I bent it back and everything has worked since then. And it's worked well!
Thanks, it was the modem needed flashing! Very simple too I also downgraded to Gingerbread which is faster.
Thanks everyone :cyclops:

[Q] Please Help Troubleshoot - Unresponsive Touchscreen

I have a Galaxy S Advance that I purchased in Hong Kong, although I live in the United States. The phone has been working very well on T-Mobile's network for over one year. The phone is running stock gingerbread. I have never flashed any roms.
Yesterday, the phone's touchscreen stopped working. I didn't drop it, and it didn't get wet. It just suddenly stopped allowing touch input. I thought that it might be a software issue, so I booted into recovery and did a factory reset. After re-booting, the phone still isn't responding to touch.
What else can I do to check whether this is a software problem?
Should I try flashing the stock firmware? If so, how do I know which PDA number to use?
Thank you!
Or you could go to the local store with your phone cuz I think this has nothing to do with the firmware...

Can a firmware error cause this problem? I'd love to take it into the shop, but as I said I purchased it in Hong Kong. I live in the US. I suppose I may have to mail it back, but was hoping someone may have some advice.
All of the buttons at the bottom are responsive to touch, but the screen is not.

I guess it's an error in the screen. Or else, try flashing JellyBean XXLQ4 on your device using Odin and the USB Cable. And if THAT doesn't do it. Use CoCore Kernel ( root required ), I read it improves the sensitivity of the touchscreen so you may try that. If that doesn't work, boot into recovery ( volume up + home + power ) and make the reset and cache wipe and flash JB XXLQ4 again. Then go to the nearest phone store, act as if you never tried to install a kernel or rooted ur phone and look if they can find the problem. If found, send to hongkong.
*Edit: added link to JB firmwares. You need the Ser LQ4. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2110245

Thank you for the advice. Will upgrading to JB via Odin void the warranty? I know that JB hasn't been officially released in Hong Kong yet. Does Samsung care?
Nope. This JB is stock firmware so it can not void your warranty here in Holland I also had some problems, went to samsung with the JB ( which is not yet released ) and it wasn't a problem.

Do not, and I repeat, do not forget to root your phone before you flash the CoCore Kernel. You can root using Shaaans method. It's found in the Dev section and it's quite simple.
Let me know if it worked out

This is a noob question, but if I use the wrong PDA version will it brick the phone? From what I've read it seems that moving to JB is fine even if it's software from a different country (Serbia/Russia). What if I flash the "wrong" country's gingerbread version?
Again, thank you all for the answers. This is very helpful.

Once you've been on JB you wouldn't want sh*tty old GB back haha. Uhmm there is a tutorial about reflashing GB 2.3.6 on the Q&A section, I will search the link and edit this post when I find it
*Edit: Link to downgrade tut is here. It works for all languages / regions, as long as your phone is an 8GB device and not 16GB ( thats for this method ). http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2100642
*Edit2: just follow the steps described in the topics about the 4.1.2 or do some googling, most of the time there is a specific description with the files.

claim your warranty first, if you have international warranty.. this might be a hardware problem..
for all you said, it suddenly lost touch function..
point is.. let the service center figure out first the cause of the problem before trying to solve it on your own..
after that, you can try JB firmware and modifying it to alot of stuff..

Xperia Z T-Mobile ROM

Hi everyone. I have T-Mobile XPeria Z running latest 4.2.2 firmware.I tried flashing some custom roms but not of them work. If anyone has succesfuly done so, can you please show me how or link to a guide. I would really appreciate it. thanks
The tmobile variant has a locked bootloader so youre limited to lb roms. And no custom kernels

Well just... Read harder because I'm on a tmo xperia z running existenz
Sent from my C6603 using xda app-developers app
Crap. I tried existenz, but it stuck on bootloop, i think I got to boot logo and the rebooting
I've had similar issues and after a phone hard bricked randomly after a reboot I just run stock rooted now. I would love to be confident in custom ROMs on this device as I am with my Asus Transformer.
If anyone has any suggestions it would help. Do we need to flash rooms in sequence to the version we want? Do we need to change our version to a 6603?

I'm in the same boat. Spent the better part of last night flashing and recovering from bootloops over and over. I am okay with the stock rooted ROM, but at this point my battery life sucks and it is bloatware that is causing the brunt of it. I would love me some stock Android.
Just make sure that you have followed instructions exactly. Make sure you flash whatever kernel is listed with flashtools after flashing the ROM.
Been rooted/custom stock ROM since day 1 with my t-mobile C6606 and haven't experienced any problems.
Best bet is to start from scratch by flashing a complete generic 4.2 ROM with flashtool, root/recover, and then upgrade to pre-rooted ROM.
Sure you are aware, but you will lose the t-mobile specific functions (wifi calling), but also the bloat if you move to a custom stock ROM like eXistenZ.

Do you have a suggested generic 4.2 ROM in mind or just look for an unbranded 6603 4.2 ROM .ftf and flash with flashtool? Then root, install XZR and follow directions for what ever desired stock based ROM such as .101, correct?
And Im assuming, do not flash the baseband for the 6603 or other non 6606 device, correct?

Flash custom stock ROM of your choice. There may be an easier way than this, but this is the route I have taken and all has worked well.
T-mobile APN's for 3G/4G/LTE. I input these every time I clean flash. I confirmed these settings with a friends moto x that is completely stock » http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2236735 4G will actually show as H+ by the signal bars.
If you run into any problems let me know and I'll try to help. Just take your time and follow all instructions. It's well worth it rather than waiting on t-mobile to push our updates, especially now that KK has been officially announced for Q2 (hopefully May). T-mobile will probably be another 2-3 months behind that.
TMo will probably be further behind than that as we don't even have an official 4.3 yet.
Thanks for the instructions. That's exactly what I have been looking for. I'll give that a shot asap, when I get the courage to flash the phone. Probably the next day our two.

Yeah I tried doing this method and now I'm stuck in the boot loop at the sony logo screen. Still not giving up though, am I suppose to flash Update to .101 after or before installation of the rom. I installed the rom prior and now my phone is stuck in bootloop.. I tried using Sony recovery and flash tool to get it back, but it wont recognize my phone and if it does its for a second. I can get it in fastboot mode and CWM and that's it..now I'm stuck AGAIN atm..

Somehow I was able to get and keep it in flashmode and flash the whole firmware C6603_10.3.1.A.2.67_Generic UK. Looks like I'm back from start one! So again, am I suppose to flash .101 before or after the rom is installed?
To be on the safe side make sure you install everything in the order that I posted them following instructions. Work your way to the .101 pre-rooted ROM.
When you get to the .101 ROM
flash .zip provided in recovery
Do not reboot after flashing .zip, in twrp go to power off
Then flash everything in the .ftf with flashtool
Reboot and you should be good.
Also make sure you have the latest flashtool and drivers loaded. Never hurts to check the obvious too like USB debugging..

What steps in the process would I have to omit if I dont want to root and just want to flash 4.3, Also there seems to be many versions of 4.3 such as UK unbranded Ch unbranded. If I'm using it for Tmobile US, which would I choose?
Never mind! Used the UK unbranded and I love it! everything worked nicely! thanks so much for this!

Make sure the APN you created is selected and then reboot after.
Make sure LTE (preferred) is selected.
Once verified APN is selected and reboot, go to MMS and long press picture, select download. It should DL after that.
If that doesn't work you can also try to "Service Providers" and there should be an option for a T-Mobile network.
Can also try turning on/off airplane mode, but the APN always works for me.

so thats why i posted here, i tried a 6906 ftf and it didnt work, figured out gps and mobile network are not working.
great rom tho i like it i just want it to work correctly
After read the posts above, I decided to ask before do anything...
My Z1 is C6943, and I was thinking if this ROM will work if I flash the C6943 kernel after flash the ROM.
They said "We only support c6902 and c6903, you can try it but we give no guarantee". So, here I am... and the question is: It will work??? or I'll have the same problems with mobile data and GPS and possibly other things?
In another scenario, what if I flash via flashtools the C6903 kernel after flash the ROM?
im gonna just wait till they support 6906 , went to the evo black rom so i could get my internet back,
wtb a paranoid android rom for locked bootloaders zz

YES!!! Is there a light!!!
I just Installed the ROM a few minutes ago, and everyhting is working!
That is what I did:
First off all, I wipe the phone under Wipe/Factory reset.
Installed the ROM from external SD Card, and then POWER OFF instead reboot.
Holding volume down, I plug the USB and then flashed the stripped FTF for C6943.
Now I have the ROM working, with GPS, Mobile Data, WIFI, NFC and everything else.
Don't know yet if I have something with misbehavior, because I did it 10 minutes ago.
Well, is it. Thanks!!!
GREAT
Someone else who follows the instructions and is so surprised it works he has to share how he did it...and basically quotes the install instructions...

Hi gregbradley, first of all, I have to say thank you...
I follow your posts and I see every day your effort to help people like me.
I know your acknowledgement about many many things, and it helps me to clarify a LOT of doubts without even PM you or even ask silly question, even when I know that you can be ironic and a little rude sometime. (I'm saying by me, about my perceptions)
About your comment I want to say 3 things:
1 Yes, I shared how I did it, if you read my posts above, you will see that I was afraid to be on a boot loop after flash the ROM, or don't have mobile data and other functionalities after that.
2 Yes, I basically quote the install instructions to show how easy was the installation for those who want to do the same. Spread the word is what I believe.
And
3 It's not my first android phone that I root, install custom ROMs, flash kernels, etc... I just want to prevent to do something wrong and transform my phone in a beautiful piece of nothing...
Again, thank you for all your support on XDA forums, and I'm sure that you makes this place better and better everyday.
Well said, and I apologise if you thought I was being rude, that was not my intention
