I'm S-OFF now, still rooted but locked...

I just S-OFF my Vivid which left me still rooted, but now locked. Do I need to unlock again at HTCDev? I want to be able to flash ROMs without having to worry about HBoot.

The original unlock code will still work. You shouldn't have to gi through the HTC Dev process again.

I don't have it. But I just read another post where the guy was in same situation as me and tried the HTCDev unlock routine and it didn't work.
I also read in another thread that if you do the jbear s-off, it will revert to locked, but since the phone is now s-off, it doesn't matter if the bootloader is locked (s-off supercedes locked, maybe?). So since I'm rooted and have a recovery, do I have to worry if I flash a custom ROM?
Edit: I was worrying over nothing. I was able to get a new unlock code from HTCDev, no problem. It worked fine on the custom bootloader. I forget that unlocking wipes everything, but as I was planning to flash the PAC rom, it didn't matter.

Hey Guys,
So I am need of a bit of help and guidance. I currently have a HTC One 32Gb Silver from T-Mobile (US). I need to return my phone for warranty exchange but so far I have put several different roms, TWRP recovery, perm root, and obv unlocked bootloader. I need to return everything to how it was out of the box. I made a backup of my stock rom way back in May after I unlocked the bootloader. I know generally people would use an RUU but I do not think there is one for T-Mobile US. So I just need some guidance on how to put back factory recovery, and then relock bootloader without T-Mobile it was ever unlocked. I believe this can be achieved thru S-OFF then S-On back on again after you fix the "re-locked" and "tampered". If someone can walk me through how to properly do this and the files I would need I give you huge gratitude.

Gain Soff
Turn off the tamper stuff
Flash RUU
Everything will appear stock
once the new revone comes out you can go back to s-on and it really is all stock

Look at second post and follow his instructions...worked like a charm S-OFF and put back to S-ON is available now

[Q] Is it possible to go back to "LOCKED" after unlocking bootloader?

I've read that it was only possible with S-off devices, and that you can't do it anymore with stock android 4.2.2. Is there another way to do it?
I haven't unlocked bootloader, rooted and loaded a custom ROM because I'm afraid that in case I need to send it back with warranty(I already had to do it twice), they won't repair/change it for free.
Also, are there any other possible ways of detecting the phone has been unlocked? Perhaps some tips on how to get started? I've never rooted such an expensive phone.

The only way to get a Locked status after unlocking is if you are s-off. The only way (currently) you'd be able to s-off is if you're bootloader is still v1.44. If you've taken any OTAs and your bootloader has been updated, then you won't be able to use the current s-off techniques, so the only way to unlock would be through htcdev.com, and relocking would give you a Relocked status.

Damn I've checked and my bootloader is showing v1.54. A RELOCKED status would void my warranty, am I right?

Not strictly true, you can get s-off with a paid javacard service like fonefunshop. I did this and can now use revone to regain locked status (even on 1.54).
There is also another method detailed here

hello guys will im currently not rooted for the warranty but there is one thing that bothers me
about the htcdev.com
can my warranty (company, provider, or whatever they called)
check in anyway that i had unlocked the bootloader before
and is the unlcok.bin code linked with my device only (the unlock code when proceeding in unlocking)
dont know why this is coming into my mind
and another question where does the nandroid backup located in twrp and CWM
in future when i reroot the device i want to do a nandroid backup for it

If your bootloader says unlocked or relocked they will know you have unlocked the bootloader. Also "tampered" flag must not shown in the bootloader. Its possible to remove the tampered flag and set the bootloader back to locked (not re-locked) with S-OFF. So if you can achieve s-off there is nothing to worry about.

in theory yes, your unlock_code.bin is generated from your phone unlock_token, but never heard of someone who wasn't able to claim warranty because he have unlocked bootloader (with bootloader locked and no tampered flag ---> s-off required)
In some rare cases, HTC doesnt care about unlocked bootloader if its 100% sure the issue wasn't caused by the bootloader being unlocked. It depends which service center. Always better to send the phone Locked + no tampered flag.

TWRP backup are stored at
/sdcard/TWRP/BACKUPS/YOUR_PHONE_SERIAL_NUMBER/DATE_OF_BACKUP/
or if you prefer:
/data/media/0/TWRP/BACKUPS/YOUR_PHONE_SERIAL_NUMBER/DATE_OF_BACKUP/
not sure about cwm, probably something similar.

thank you, my phne bootloader is locked not relocked but locked and s-on and no tempered flag
i will use another email in my phone in case they want to check that if i had registered in htcdev before
dont know why im that scared
i have a cracked camera
i heard that htc will probably give a replacement if anything happens to the camera is this right?
of course with paying for the camera price

I don't understand one thing. Even if it's possible to completely lock back the bootloader, what is the point, since htc would know that you have already unlocked the bootloader using their bin file. Wouldn't it still void the warranty even if you relock the bootloader.

get S Off then use " Guru bootloader reset tool" remove Tempered and Lock bootloader warranty will come back HTC won't ask you if phone show locked
If relocked is there means no warranty

It would seem that it would, but their disclaimer states "may or may not" void the warranty. If it is "Locked" with no "Tampered" there is always the possibility that they may not look or search to see if you unlocked the bootloader. I would rather have it look as if it was never unlocked than leave it unlocked and remove all doubt!

Also, is it worth flashing or custom roms here are as good as stock. I just don't like sense, specially the lockscreen on 6

flashing custom rom worth it if the stock rom doesn't fit your needs. You'll have to read some custom rom threads and try a few to get an idea of what rom you prefer as "which rom is better" discussions are not allowed in this forum.
For your bootloader question, If you send back the phone for warranty repair, and the bootload is LOCKED (not relocked) and everything else is stock, there is 99% chances HTC will honor the warranty without any question. And even if they know that you have requested an unlock_code.bin from HTCdev.com , how are they supposed to known if you have used it or not? Maybe you have requested a code, and you have changed your mind.... HTC said that unlocking the bootloader may void warranty, not that requesting an unlock code void the warranty

I see. On a side note, can i unlock-root then flash a rom (4.2.2) and then s-off? even though i'm on 4.4.2 at the moment.

yes you can unlock, root and flash a rom. if you want to s-off you might be able to do it using firewater s-off. If firewater fails, then sunshine should works, but sunshine is a paid exploit, don't remember the exact price, I think its around 20-25$. S-off can also be achieved with a java card (fonefunshop.com)

I was wondering because my hboot is 1.57 and many are having trouble so if i unlock and then find out that it doesn't work then i'll have warranty issues...

firewater may not works (50-50) but afaik, sunshine should work (not tested it myself, better to check the official thread). In last resort, the java card method from fonefunshop.com will work. firewater is free, sunshine cost 25$ iirc and fonefunshop.com cost £14.99 + shipping to UK

Sunshine works on all m7 phones. You may need a stock Rom or at least stock kernel but it will work. Try Firewater first but most people don't have any luck with it these days
