Bootloop in ALL Sense ROMs - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi guys,
My HTC One fails to run any Kitkat Sense-based ROM. Ive tried ViperOne 5.5.1 and InsertCoin 8.1
The ROM installs properly (I wiped the data in Aroma). But during bootup, the htc dialer process asks me to wait or cancel.
If I choose to Wait, then the ROM will manage to enter half the setup process. But it will continue rebooting and rebooting. Also, when I cancelled most of the setup options, the ROM had no SIM access. It showed 'Emergency Calls Only'
The problem is identical in ViperOne and InsertCoin.
Here's my getvar all:
But Cyanogenmod is working PERFECTLY

I guess that the 4.4 firmware is required ?? Do I need to flash that?? Or is the problem anything else?? I appreciate any help
Thank you

Try to SuperCID. Maybe that'll work cause I see you're s-offed
Happy Flashing Sent from a proud owner of the HTC One.

You can try extracting the boot.img and flashing it.

what recovery do you have? if you don't already have it, try TWRP 2.6.3.3

I already have 2.6.3.3. My phone is currently on a perfectly working CM11 M4. But for some reason, my USB OTG is not working in TWRP
It shows a blank directory. Got any ideas??
Thanks

I'll check in on you later, but just FYI:
(bootloader) modelid: PN0710000

it's the same as any UL WWE edition, Middle East/Africa on the M7 is just standard .401. edition.

PS: is your baseband and IMEI intact in settings -> about ?

Just another observation ive made, even earlier when I had rooted for the first time, InsertCoin 7 and ViperOne(4.3 based) gave me this same issue. I just randomly chose some options in Aroma nd got InsertCoin to work.
But ARHD ALWAYS WORKED. FIRST SHOT
Is there something wrong with my phone, because ARHD has a 100% success rate fr me, but other ROMs don't. Or are there some different instructions for other Sense ROMs?
Im currently on ARHD 52, SuperCid, S-OFF, HBOOT 1.56, TWRP 2.6.3.3 and OS version in the bootloader is 4.19.401.8

Same setup as yours: ARHD 52.0, TWRP 2.6.3.3, fw 4.19.401.8 (from vomer):
1- I just tried OTG cable + 64GB stick (tried both exFat and FAT32), worked fine in TWRP 2.6.3.3 (obviously need to mount it first, which took about 2 to 3 seconds until the check-mark appeared), then in twrp -> advanced -> file manager -> "usb-otg" and files were there.
2- if you're flashing 4.3 ROMs, have you tried a different recovery (or at least version)... if i remember correctly 2.6.3.3 was good for 4.4, but not so good with pre-4.4 (maybe it was twrp 2.6.3.3, maybe some other one, can't remember which one)
3- i would recommend you manually wipe dalvik+cache+data before flashing a different ROM and after successful install wipe dalvik+cache, maybe the installer script isn't doing it automatically.... i know it's a bit redundant, but you never know.

1) Hmm i guess i didnt mount it. Probably explains why I couldnt see it
2) The ROMs which im flashing are ALL KitKat based. I guess the issue isn't with the recovery
3) Hmm. I definitely didn't do that. That explains the problem i guess. I used 2 manually wipe on my old Galaxy Y. I got lazy after Aroma installers on this phone
Thanks a lot )
Update: Yeah, the wipe did the trick

no problem, if you still encounter problems (even with 4.4), try a different recovery (or version, eg 2.6.3.4), not all installer scripts (even the 4.4 ones), are written the same.

[Q] No OS, no nothing

Oke guys,
I probally did one of the most stupid things. Got my One transformed tot a GPE 4.3 version works smooth. Yesterday an OTA update to 4.4 really messed up my day. Try to install everything gone....No i am not able to install any version at al.
Got the last version of TWRP installed. got myself an unlocked bootloader even an 4.3 GPE rom. But TWRP keeps giving me the message "Error flashing zip: 'sdcard/<M7_UL_JB443_STOCK_UI.
can someone help me solve this problem..
For 4.3 Roms you need twrp 2.6.3.0 and not 2.6.3.3.
Flash it and let us know

Thans for you answer. I now got another one. "Unable to mount /data
unable to mount internal storage
I'm also not able to mount then by the menu.
Why do you need to mount internal storage?
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
After installing the right twrp version. i use ADB to push the image.zip to my phone. Then i use twrp install and browse to my sdcard where the image.zip is transferred to. when i click it it gives that error. By the way he also starts with error flashing zip.
Comlete error is:
Error flashing zip '/sdcard/M7_UL_JB43..
updating partition details
e:unable to mount /data
e: unable to mount internal storage
i fear for my device...
Please anyone who can help me?
what about to boot to Bootloader, connect to some tools like Hasoon2000 Toolkits (cannot post links yet, sorry) and format everything you got, than flash the recovery again and push the rom via adb
make sure you download rom without any downloader
do not worry, i bricked my one the same day i got it and took me two nights to make it work again it needs lot of trying and searching but eventually you fix it
Thanks for your reply, i flashed everything a couple times. I guess is have the right rom. i do worry cause i tried so many things. Thinking about sending in my phone to HTC today..

what exactly are you trying to flash, link please.
i tried so many things is don't know exaclty the links. I tried different custom recovery. CWM and TWRP. Since i don't have an OS any more i tried to install de M7xxx.zip
Is the error still unable to mount sdcard? If so, follow post # 3 in my Canadian stock link.. You may need to use a recovery closer to your HBOOT version.

I can't use rumrunner, because I don't have usb debugging enabled (which it says it requires).
The two roms i tried installing with TWRP are:
4.4 Nandroid - mega.co.nREMOVETHISz/#!TMlgWLDJ!ZfFlcx...4grwOLi-Ied3Tg
10.2 Cyanogen Mod - download.cyanogenmod.oREMOVETHISrg/get/jenkins/49872/cm-10.2.0-m7ul.zip

Bad flash, now I can't call/SMS. Need to back to stock.

Hey there, I flashed a ROM and apparently it messed up my M7 Sprint I can't call or receive SMS, also I can't install apps even from OTG cable, I think this ROM is broken. Not sure if this is a hardware or software issue, I hope it's the latter. I can use the camera, WI-FI and play media files.
I have HBOOT 1.44 and my bootloader says TAMPERED and UNLOCKED.
How can I get back to stock from this stage? I'm super noob every bit of help will be appreciated

Ok so sounds like your having a rough time. I will try my best for you .
First of all some more information please. Boot you phone into the bootloader and connect fastbootusb. Then in your Fastboot command line type.
Code:
fastboot getvar all
And post the output here. Please edit out your serial no. And imei no.
what Rom did you flash and which recovery are you using? Did you clean flash i.e perform a full wipe before flashing, or Dirty flash i.e flash the Rom without wiping anything?
If the phones booting it can't of done anything to serious so let's hope this is an easy fix

Your phone does not appear to be a Sprint m7. As they have product I'd m7wls
Yours has m7_ul so it is international version. If you flashed a Sprint Rom that would certainly explain your problem. Luckily your s-on so shouldn't have done to much damage.
What Rom did you flash and which recovery are you using?

Your firmware also appears to be very old there is a reset zip i think will do the trick.
http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_reset_m7_2-24-161-1-zip/
This reset zip should return you to stock so you take ota updates, then you can update to official kitkat Rom and firmware.
Reroot the phone and install a international based Rom. Stay away from TWRP 2.7.1.1 though you'll notice in your getvar version main is blank. That's caused by TWRP 2.7.1.1. Stick with TWRP 2.6.3.3 to avoid this happening again.

Yes just flashes like a normal Rom from TWRP recovery, it will replace your custom recovery with stock and your Rom.
I think your firmware is probably still older than this reset.zip though. I'm not sure if that will cause a problem.
So you could also download this OTA extract the firmware from it and flash it manually to bring your firmware in line with the reset.zip
http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ota_m7_..._p_release_325133_signedlqk8p6c09r7kmir2-zip/
That will require relocking the bootloader though but you can always unlock again after.

yeah the Guru_Reset requires unlocked bootloader and TWRP 2.6.3.3 custom recovery.
To take the over the air updates it's Important that you choose to install
stock recovery and say no to root in the guru reset Aroma installer.
Good luck !!
Thanks guys, both of you have been very kind and helpful I will try this and tell you tomorrow (its night in Spain).

Probably best to do it then in that case, better safe than sorry thanks.
Ok so hopefully this will tell you everything you need.
Download the ota file as well. Then open it on your pc and extract the firmware.zip from it and place it in your Fastboot folder. Then follow this small guide I put together.
Ok so the plan is to upgrade your software to complete Stock 2.24.161.1, Rom, recovery and firmware will all be on the same os version and unmolested stock condition. After which you will be able to update you phone with official ota updates.
Prepare the files, your pc and phone for the procedure. Rename the 2.24.161.1.zip to firmware.zip and place it in your Fastboot folder on your pc. Connect your phone to mass storage with usb and copy the reset.zip to your internal storage/sdcard.
Ok let's get started. Reboot your phone into recovery. And flash the reset.zip just like installing a custom Rom. Select install and choose the reset.zip. Once it's done your Rom, recovery and radio will be back to stock. (if you choose to install the radio, it's optional at this stage as it will be done with the firmware anyway.
Now we need to upgrade the firmware since the OTA update will expect to find version 2.24.161.1 but your firmware is older than that so the OTA may fail to install.
Reboot the phone to the bootloader and Connect fastbootusb. Now open your Fastboot command line and type
Code:
fastboot erase cache
Code:
fastboot oem lock
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
<--- case sensitive.
The phone will reboot to a black screen with a Silver HTC LOGO. This is RUU mode. Now we're going to flash the firmware.
Code:
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
The first flash will be short. It's just a preupdate preparing the hboot for the new firmware. So we need to do the same command again.
Code:
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
The second flash will take a little longer and this time it will flash the full firmware. The progress bar on the phone screen will not reach 100% this is normal as long as the command window has completed its output the flash is done.
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
You should now see your new firmware version 2.24.161.1 in the bootloader. And that's it
Reboot the phone and complete the Rom setup. You should start getting notifications for OTA updates almost immediately. If not just go to settings>about and check for updates to force it. Take all the OTA's up to the latest and you're done
Completely stock software. If you decide to reroot make a nandroid of the Stock Rom before you root it. And copy it to your pc. This way you can return to stock easily for future OTA updates

Well done m8, glad you got it sorted. You shouldn't be scared of flashing a new Rom though. The only thing that went wrong last time was you flashed a Rom for a different version of the M7.
As long as you stick with m7_ul roms you'll be fine but it's understandable you would want to take some time to process what happened. It's never fun thinking you bricked an expensive device such as the HTC one.
If you ever decide you want to try a Rom feel free to pm me for some guidance. For now relax and enjoy your working phone :highfive:

@Dani84 Hi m8 just seen your PM. Yeah ARHD is a good place to start, it's quite close to stock but with xposed support and sense 6 toolbox.
Very smooth reliable Rom with no major bugs that I know of. I've been using ARHD since version 43 and I just love it. Version 80.0 is on the Horizon (Android 4.4.3).
I think I warned you already about twrp but just incase make sure to flash twrp 2.6.3.3 to preserve your os information.
Download the Rom and drop it on your sd card. Reboot to recovery and flash the Rom from the install menu in twrp. Make sure to do a full data wipe in the aroma installer as your changing from stock to custom Rom.

You need a newer version of TWRP
flash 2.6.3.3 from here > http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7
ARHD will work fine with that

But i´m using 2.8.0.2 it´s not newr?
But even if i can replace with 2.6.3.3 the problem is that i don´t have any longer the image of ARHD inside my phone, i´ve erased everything and i have no way of copying it again to my phone, because i don t have any OS the pc doesn´t recongize the phone.... i don´t know what to do.
is it possible to use usb otg cable with a pen to copy it?
Or using the same way to flash the twrp, can i transfer the ARHD image to the internal storage of the phone?

you can use usb otg, adb push or adb sideload to copy the rom to your phone. All 3 solutions can be done from recovery. Use twrp 2.6.3.3

So now you probably have screwed your partitions flashing an incompatible rom and recovery to your phone. Flash a twrp version for Sprint variant and then format data and flash a Custom rom compatible with Sprint phones (M7WLS)

Aroma installer stock at 10% system unmounted already
HI,
I had ARHD 71.1 with 5.11.1540.10 fw and elementalx 14 all worked fine,
i decided to upgrade to ARHD 81.1 so:
1.-First updated fw to 6.09.401.5 with a custom to remove the red text form this post :http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2365506,
all was good,
2.-Then i updated to TWRP to 2.8.0.2-m7 from 2.7.1.1-m7, everything keep working
3.-Finally when a ran the twrp to install ARHD 81.1 i got stock on 10% and the message its "system unmounted already".
I repeated the process (#3) at least 8 times and it was the same issue, even tried to install 71.1 and the error was the same...
I did check the MD5 sum, it was correct .
As the process mess up my SO, i had to use a backup from my stock SO 4.4.2 that fortunately works well so what should i try ?
My stock version prompt's me to update to stock 4.4.3 do i try it first ?
Do i use TWRP 2.6.3.3 ?

Thaks for the help
I did this:
1.- Flash stock recovery for 6.09.401.5
2.-Update via OTA to 4.4.3
3.-Flash TWRP openrecovery-twrp-2.7.1.1-m7 which worked for ARHD 71 and for 81
4.-Flash ARHD81
5.-Flash fw 6.09.401.5 custom without red texts
6.-Flash ElementalX-m7-18.0-Sense
Now the system works well as expected but, the wake gestures that must be enable with Sense 6 Toolbox plus ElementalX are not working, i already update Sense 6 Toolbox and Xposed to last versions but it didn't work.
I updated the HTC Lockscreen app to see if it helps.
Thaks & Cheers

[Q] Upgrading Firmware and stuff

Hey XDA.
I have an HTC M7 currently with ARHD.
How I did it since now, was to unlock bootloader, get a custom recovery and then flash the custom ROM zip.
Now I found out that I should flash base(?) firmware zips and then then Custom ROMs and Radio and stuff like that.
After reading all that I got a little confused.
Can somebody explain me what I should do?

Weather you need to update firmware or not depends on your current firmware. And version of the ROM, I assume your running the latest 92 lollipop Rom.
Can you please post the output of
Code:
fastboot getvar all
please remove your IMEI and Serial number before posting. :good:
Then we can see if you need to update your firmware. And which firmware you need.

Your firmware is very old. But maybe not such a bad thing at the moment. Have you ever considered going s-off. If you have it would be better to do it now before updating your firmware.
Your currently on hboot 1.55 which you can s-off for free using rumrunner. Once you update past 1.55 your only option for s-off will be Sunshine which costs $25 to use. Also updating firmware while s-off is much easier since you won't need to relock your bootloader.
Your current firmware base is for jellybean. So you will probably have some problems with the latest lollipop roms. You should update to get the most out of your device and the latest roms. But I do recommend going s-off first. :good:

Then you can find all firmware zips for your device here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?w=files&flid=32777
You will need to flash
4.19.401.11.zip
5.11.401.10.zip
6.09.401.12.zip
7.19.401.22.zip
If you flash them with s-off they will not wipe anything from your device. Once you have the latest firmware you can use any lollipop Rom you choose :good:

Flash them with fastboot. Put the firmware files in your fastboot folder. And connect fastboot usb in the bootloader.
With s-off flash with these commands.
Code:
fastboot erase cache
fastboot oem rebootRUU
The device will boot to a black screen with silver HTC logo. This is ruu mode.
Code:
fastboot flash zip name_of_firmware.zip
The first flash is just a pre update. Repeat the same command.
Code:
fastboot flash zip name_of_firmware.zip
The second flash will flash the firmware. The progress bar on the screen will not reach 100% that's normal. When the flash is complete
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Done.
You don't need to reboot to Android just repeat the procedure again for the next zip strait from the bootloader.
The firmware updates will include the stock recovery. So you will need to flash TWRP or CWM when your done.
If you decide to update wile s-on the procedure is the same. But you will need to 're-lock your bootloader before you start.
Code:
fastboot oem lock
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Be aware though when you unlock the bootloader it will wipe your devices internal storage.

Very good question I'm glad you asked. I missed this in my last post. The firmware will also replace the stock boot.img. only a problem if your running a custom Rom. In which case you don't need to reflash the entire Rom. You can extract the boot.img from the rom zip and flash it with fastboot.
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img
Did you manage to s-off? With s-off you can also flash custom firmware. So you could just delete the boot.img and recovery.img from each of the firmware.zips then you can just flash the firmware without complications. :good:

Will this work with Hboot 1.57, I tried with insertcoin 5.0.2 and ARHD 4.4.2? Can I downgrade Hboot with S-ON by flashing older RUU signed by HTC or 3rd pary authority?

Sorry confused you with a different user. Previous reply deleted.
No rumrunner will not work on hboot 1.57. Only sunshine app works to s-off hboot 1.57. If you mean will the rom work then yes it should but it's based on a much older firmware. Downgrading firmware is not possible with s-on. So you can either upgrade your firmware and use ARHD 92 which is a lollipop rom. Or keep your existing firmware and flash ARHD 84 which is a kitkat rom
Because your s-on upgrading firmware will require you to lock the bootloader. Be advised that unlocking again will wipe your devices internal memory. So backup everything you want to keep to your pc before you start. If you want to upgrade to lollipop there are plenty of RUUs for lollipop there should be one you can use depending on your current OS version. Upgrading via ruu will also require you to relock the bootloader.

Deleted OS with no backup (Solved)

Hello, guys. How you doing?
UPDATE: it's solved, i got back to stock rom after flashing this: https :// fl1.androidfilehost.com/dl/2k6GKx4IJOgIhD09zRzbzw/1441027324/95897840722641610/Reset_rom_6.07.1540.2.zip?
Now I'm going to do a BACKUP haha
I am with a HTC ONE M7 Internation/Unlocked Soft-Bricked, with no OS... Here are some information:
- Using TWRP 2.8.7.0 custom recovery for M7 (latest version)
- Unlocked bootloader
- Rooted (at least I did it before wipping my OS)
- S-ON!
- HBOOT v.1.57
- Already have ADB/Fastboot on my PC
- Modelid: PN0711000
- Cidnum: HTC__332
Here's my tale:
I tried to install RUU M7 Lollipop ROM, from HTC's website. But, at the very beggining of the instalation (4%), the RUU software said it lost my device. I did it while in fastboot mode, because it was the only way RUU recognized my phone. Then I could not install Lollipop ROM by RUU method, so I decided to flash a Lollipop ROM Unlocked Version for One M7.
I knew that for doing it I would need to install some custom recovery on my phone, unlock its bootloader mode and install on my PC ADB and Fastboot. I did all of this; the bootloader unlocked I did from HTC's website guide. So, I put on my phone a ROM in zip extension, boot it on recovery mode. I read that I should wipe data, cache, calvik cache and, maybe, system. And I did it... with NO BACKUP of original ROM --' I know I was stupid...
So I wipe this partitions, entered Install menu and tried to run instalation of the ROM zip file. It didn't work!!! Some error: "E: error executing updater binary in zip..." And I tried to flash different ROMs, all of them showed this error...
Then now I am with a Soft-Bricked HTC ONE M7 which has no OS. Some pics of my status: https: // w w w .dropbox.com/s/ruyen2ikn0u5i0u/Soft-Bricked%20M7.rar?dl=0
I hope you can help me
Please, help me :crying:

You can't use rumrunner to achieve s-off on hboot 1.57, only method is Sunshine

There is not much available for 6.15.599.101 version, you'll probably need to use custom roms or convert to another version. There is a 6.15.599.101 ruu available at irfile.com but you will need an acount to download it (paid account) http://www.ir-file.com/portal/index.php?dir=Firmware/HTC/HTC_Android/M7_U/

This rom is for the Developer edition version CID BS_US001 and MID PN0712000, By flashing this on your phone, you're far from being stock, you will not get any ota updates and be stuck on this version.

Oh, thanks :/
So, what is the best path to follow to get Lollipop? Should I pay 25 bucks for Sunshine, change my CID and try to flash correct Lollipop rom? Is there another way to get Lollipop rather that one?
Are there so many new and interesting features on Lollipop or should I stay on KitKat 4.4.3? I don't know so many custom good roms; can you recommend me some?
Sorry for asking so much questions. I know, probably I'm bothering you '-'
PS: Now my system asks for an OTA update to Lollipop, but it's not possible... Probably due to what you said about my flashed rom being Developer edition's one.

Either pay for sunshine so you can change your CID / MID to convert your phone to another version using a lollipop RUU or pay for an account at ir-file.com so you can download the .599 ruu and then take all ota updates.

Many ppl likes lollipop and probably as many ppl doesn't like it. I think its better to try it yourself and see what you prefer. Some ppl likes the new features and other ones are complaining about battery drain and lags.

All custom roms are good, it all depends what features you need. The best you can do is to read some rom threads and choose one that fit what you need, try it a few days and if not liking it, flash another one. If you want good battery life and no lag, I would recommend GPE roms, if you need what HTC Sense have to offer, then choose a Sense based rom like ARHD, Maximus, InsertCoin, NuSense ....

Because your CID and MID doesn't match the rom version you have flashed. Developer edition is for CID BS_US001 and MID PN0712000, yours is HTC__332 and PN0711000, In order to receive ota updates, you must be 100% stock either be flashing the .599 ruu for HTC__332 / PN0711000 or by achieving s-off, changing your CID / MID and flashing another version ruu e.g: changing your cid to BS_US001, your MID to PN0712000 and flashing a dev edition (.1540) RUU.

I was reading about Android Revolution HD, it seems good. I really like Blinkfeed (Highlights) so I guess I wouldn't flash a ROM which doesn't have it. I think ARHD got Blinkfeed, right?
Can I flash this ROM on my phone? As far as you know about my specs.
