Hey guys I got my HTC one today and oh hell yeah it's nice, but I've noticed it does get hot and I checked cpu z and it went to 40 degrees, is that safe or should I not let it get that hot?
Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
40 is fine. Prolonged periods above 45 could shorten battery life maybe but don't worry, the phone can run hot just fine. The housing is metal. It feels hot sometimes. It's normal.

I was thinking that mate but I wanted to check

My phone seems to get very hot when i place it for charging. It so hot that if i get a call i can't even place it by my ear. And it takes a lot of time to cool back down once i remove the charger.
Is it something that i'm facing or are there others also whoa are facing the same issue?
when the battery is bad, you get this kind of problem.
the charging current is too high for this battery, because the battery is not quite right.

I'll have to take the phn to service center then.

Seems the best option. Sometimes a bad battery slips through.
do you have warranty? Normally you get two years from htc.

Hi I don't know anyone have same problem like me.I just got new HD 7 from tmobile and I have a issues phone getting hot after whatever talking on the phone or play phone five -ten minutes . You guys have same issues?!!if not I need to call tmobile to change new one.
(forgot to say the getting hot part r on The bottom of the back of the phone)
Its just the CPU its Not a defect this is how all of the hd7's are and how most 1ghz or higher phones are In fact the iPhone 4's cpu is underclocked to minimize the heat
Sent from my HD7 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
is there any instance or any reported case where in the hd7's cpu overheated? or melted/toast/fried the cpu and some of the phones components?
If it overheats it shuts off and cant be turned on until it cools

thanks for reply but my question is this normal??! is it happen to all hd7? if not I need to call tmobile and get the new one.
Don't worry about it unless it reboots or you can't even touch it due to the heat. HTC stated on their official help site that the HD7 will get warm under heavy usage. I believe the problem was also present on the HD2 due to HTC's lack of a more efficient cooling process.
Same thing happens to my hd7 its rebooted a couple of times

If it reboots, you might want to get a replacement.

You don't need one.
If you have t mobile, just call them and explain that the phone is frustrating you. They'll send you a replacement

Mine just went went hot after 15 min use geochaching and fried my sim - had to get a replacement
Hi, im having exactly the same problem as you. After i did re-flashing to custom rom(deep shining), i left my phone charging at night(usb charging) until morning. My phone started to heat, not on battery side, it is at the bottom side.
The effect was heating all the time with battery 100% full charged will gone within 15minutes. I try all the way by reflashing diff. kind of custom ROM. But now i have original SPL with legit Mango. Still not changing anything.
Those symptoms are really come from processor problem?
My device has been wet by me around one month ago. It seems to be running as it should but I still wonder if may have wrecked something up. If this happened to you please tell your experience.

If it dried properly you should be fine.

Put it in a bowl of uncooked rice, the rice will hopefully draw out the water, works with most phones surprisingly not sure bout smart phones tho but surely worth a try....

I see you didn't understand. It has been one month and it seems to be running all ok so my question is if in near future it would be dead or not?!
Sent from my HTC Incredible S using XDA App
If its working good now chances it will b all ok but maybe rust could form in da future which will cause it to prob fail, hopefully that answered ur question !!!

It's not going to rust if it's already dry.

Mine went for a swim in my waterproofs pocket 9 months ago riding to work in a storm!! Initially there were a few screen display issues but after sitting it in a dry warm place for half a day I've had no problems at all.
Moisture can rust the metal! (off topic)

i think, if you break something, you would already know about it.
It could take years to see the change but you will probably see it. About half a year I somehow got some Sprite trough my jack plug (don't ask) in my IncS and some day the battery started messing around. But besides that it still works
It's been already over a year and I'm quite satisfied with build quality of this phone.

Does the screen really eat up that much battery? I do keep my screen on a lot from texting to social networks. Would a deferent kernel possible ease the screen usage or is that how much power the screen consumes with a pretty good amount of usage?

Yes ,
I turn auto off and run it about a 1/3 of the way and in the dark I turn it even Lower sometimes and the batt seems ok ,
If I was constantly doing stuff on the phone at that rate I get a good 3-3 1/2 hr and Im talking actually sitting with the phone on and doing constant stuff for that long .
Thanks for asking - I find that my display battery usage is just as high!
I'll have to try the auto off. Auto dim doesn't seem to work that good. I guess ill experiment after work with a different kernel and see if its any better this morning. Thanks for confirming

OK I fixed it lol. I tried the new Pegasus rom with the stockish kernel. Amazing! I recommend it.

Yea, I'm getting like 14-17 hours off of one charge. On De-Sensed it was like 8 hours.

Definitely getting great battery on the Pegasus ROM. I've found turning off you data when not using it effectively doubles my battery life. But then again I'm in an LTE area so that burns it up like you wouldn't believe when it's on and being used.
Sent from my HTC Holiday using xda premium
I don't have lte in my area. I'm going on 1 day and 1 hour with this rom. VERY pleased!

Run it inside a refrigerator that should definitely cool things down. Maybe buy one of those waterproof cases and throw the phone inside a cooler when not in use.

Root it and install a custom kernel. That helps a little. If you want more, then underclock/undervolt the CPU with a CPU tuning app.

Can you return it? I've seen about 107 on mine just playing silly grumpy bears game, but otherwise, it's typically less than 100 if I'm just using it normally. I'm still stock if that helps.
