I've just made a mod to enable notification LED (color) even in Stamina Mode in latest 4.3 (.101) firmware. Just flash it in recovery.
If you want to rollback to stock version, flash the stamina_leds-101-restore.zip.
Thanks for sharing, can you please explain. What does it exactly do? How does it work? Can I install extracting the new stamina apk and replace the old one in system/app with correct permission?

Originally when you enable stamina mode, your LED will only show white color when a notification comes even if you configure it to show other color. This mod makes it works like when stamina mode is off so that the LED will show whatever color it's supposed to show.
You can flash the zip in recovery. If you want to replace it manually, just make sure stamina mode is off first. Then you need to remove the SuperStamina.apk and SuperStamina.odex under /system/app/, then push the new SuperStamina.apk to /system/app/, change permission to 644 and that's it.
Just pushed to system/app, working nice hope no surprises, once again thanks.....little details make huge difference.....later

This was achieved through multiple xml edits. I have taken the 2.3.5/2.3.7/4.0.4 Mms.apk(with added SMS Split) and completely inverted it so it looks like the black version.
I wanted to share this with all users interested in a up-to-date Black stock Mms.apk from 2.3.5/2.3.7./4.0.4
Mainly the reason I wanted this updated to 2.3.5/2.3.7/4.0.4 is for the latest quality and reliable split (with a supported framework).
On some ROMs, namely stock, the SMS split option does not show in options but it does split and is turned on by default.
This APP will work on stock and AOSP ROMS. As long as you have root.
INSTALL:
DEODEXED ROMS:
Download Black_Mms.apk below and install like normal, through package installer or push to /system/app/
STOCK-LIKE ODEXED ROMS:
Flash the one you want:Black_Mms-2.3.5.zip, Black_Mms-2.3.7.zip, Black_Mms-4.0.4 through custom recovery (This zip will push Mms to /system/framework/, allowing preferences to stay intact upon reboot)

OP updated. Changed to SMS split Mms.apk. Getting a little closer. Some help with what I've done so far would help.
OP updated with 95% complete black mms. Just some text needs to be changed. Compose text is white like it's sposed to be.
What do you need help with? Do you have the source? I could look at it

I keep getting app not installed. Does this require 2.3.5?
Try pushing it to /system/app
Fixed. Its seems I just needed to reboot after deleting the stock mms app

awesome work! is there any way to add the "back button always shows convo list" option to this? That is one of the most frustrating inconsistencies in Android.

I'll give it a shot.
Awesome! One other minor issue: none of the settings will stick. They always reset, so I can never turn the notifications off without them coming back on after a few minutes...

I'm not rooted can I still download this and use it? And would I hafta delete the old messaging app and replace it with this one?

Ok. Its cause your running odexed. Push the app to /system/framework/. It should be in the same directory as framework-res.apk. make the permissions the same.-->chmod 644 /system/framework/Black_Mms.apk.
This will create a classes.dex for it, allowing settings and preferences to stick.
Gimme a few, i will make a zip especially for odexed roms that pushes this to /system/framework instead of /system/app

You are non-rooted so its odexed. It will install but preferences wont stick. Needs to be in /system/framework
I am using rooted JVU firmware and would like to install ICS keyboard to my system/app.
I used Root Explorer to copy the apk file into the directory and did a reboot, and the keyboard appeared on my locale and text menu.
However, when I try to select the keyboard, it always return a force close.
Can anybody teach me on how to solve this issue?
There is a thread called "How to: Push apps(.apk)" - you will have to try to use the search function for that name cause I don't think I can post a link yet

I did the search and tried the way as taught, end up having the force close issue.
Is it that not all apk can be installed onto system/app?

You can also try an app called "system cleanup". I'm not sure if it's on the market but there is a thread where you can dl it or you could use titanium pro

Ics keyboard is made to work on android 4.0.x framework ported from Nexus S, ok?
As you revealed in OP you are using Sammy JVU 2.3.6 TouchWiz infected framework.
Why not try to rip out HTC keyboard and push that too while you're in the mood?
When you push an ask to system/app am I write in saying it does not deleted in factory reset..??
What about pushing to system system/media..??
When pushing an apk to system folder,u need root and there is 2 easy ways, either use a root explorer and just push it to the system/app folder or use titanium backup to revert to system app.factory reset(full wipe) doesn't wipe system apk,but everthing else is wiped..
U can also push apk to system via ADB.but a little bit of knowledge is needed

If you're not interested in the story.. skip to the last paragraph in red.. like this one.. obviously.
I mean seriously.. Am i the only one with this stupid problem.. I restart the phone after somehow the system crashes..
and find the phone with no launcher.. yah.. actually there's no launcher.. and a continuous bootanimation?
WTF??
Actually.. after i turn the phone On.. the so called Bootanimation keeps playing and playing..
and i can still feel the Unlock slider thing.. that it's there..
Well, the phone is obviously functioning Normally .. but with the bootanimation on.. and on.. and on...... and on.
What i do is.. I miss call my self.. the screen shows that some1 is calling..
after i disconnect or do whatever.. the screens lights up.. and comes back to life.. with NO LAUNCHER.
only whatever i used.. which shows in Recent apps.. If i just could get the damn files explorer up!
Well, now i'm wondering.. is there anyway.. ANYWAY..
i can install a Launcher.. without having to do that through the phone????
or somehow open the files explorer?
If you have no launcher, you should flash one via recovery. Find an update zip with an app (such as a modded music app) and replace that apk with a launcher apk.

Thanks Chris.. But can you provide me with such update.zip.. Please?
I'm so sorry man.
I would do it for you but I'm from the phone right now.
Just get my zip with the xperia fonts. Delete the "fonts" folder which is inside the "system" folder.
Now, create a folder on your desktop and name it "app", lower case! Put the apk of the launcher you want there.
Next, drag that folder into the "system" folder of my zip.
So now it's zip/system/app/thelauncher.apk
Flash that and you should have a launcher now.

You should not install,it will show up with the applications or in the settings(i don't remember)if it's working.

No still no joy. Cuiously though the astro backed up apk is called "com.sonymobile.xperialink-1.apk"
But when i looked in System/Apps on the stock rom no such app exists only "SomcXperiaLink.apk" When i try to copy, move or archive that file it fails even after a force stop.
Hope this helps thanks for your help so far.
Hello everyone ..I have a big request of someone that can modifiy a rom or something like that,. I have a very frustrating client that he wants like stock rom theme or same menu but camera with zoom (for camera and video) and without that border (like android 1.6) I don't know why they have that border on camera with update ... where i find a good camera is on gingeryoshi(awesome rom in my opinion) but the client cannot handle the menu and he want's stock menu .Can someone explain how to do it? Or someone can implement that camera in stock rom ?Thanks in advance!
If you have a copy of this stock ROM that has the camera he wants just unzip the ROM and remove the .apk, then push it to phone and install.

So let me understand ..to take camera.apk from app folder and push thru adb push?
If i change betwen roms ...i had signature error
Download an aosp ROM to PC, unzip it with 7zip or whatever, look in romname/system/app for the apk you want (may be called gallery in older ROMs, Can't recall of hand) now either use adb to push it to /system/app and then chmod permissions or push it to SD card and navigate to it with a file manager and let android install it for you. Should work just fine either way
