Not sure where the problem is: maybe chrome. maybe the new updates for serach or maybe google itself...
I do remember that when running a serach from chrome using google (so not from the serach bar, but: open chrome, type a nything in the to bar and hit go), if clicking on each search result it would open itin a new tab. Now it is opening on the same tab of the serach results. I tried in google setting, but it seems that in the mobile version the option is not there... I am confused, as it used to work before....

Chrome has never done what you are describing on any phone I've used. At least not that I can remember

I didagree...
On my tablet, for ex, now if I open Chrime, type anything on the url bar, I get the search results and if I click on any item a new tab is opened
Just hold your finger on the link you want open and all the option will appear. Better this than nothing.
This?

Yep, used to work with me too before, on my Samsung Galaxy Note 2. Now new ROM, not working anymore..
I tinkered around a bit, and fixed it, but in a very odd way.
1. Request destop version of google.com.
2. Edit search settings (make sure "open search results in new tab" is selected. In my settings it was already).
3. Save settings.
4. Request mobile version of google.com.
5. Search results will open in new window.
Weird, but it works on my phone, and my girlfriends.
Just use the Xposed Module for it. Done.

Sorry, I know that there are explanations on other device forums, but I can not for the life of me make this work and its driving me mad.
Someone please tell me if I have to have data plan to do this and it will save everyone a lot of time.
I use titanium to remove the google search/voice search/voice dialer
reboot
install new google search/voice search from here: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=753097 (which is the only place I could find the apks.) and it should work as everyone has said... but every time it gives me connection error. Does it really need internet access to send a text message??? Generally it wont even let me finish talking before it says it.
Am I screwed by not having a data plan, or is there a way around this?
I am using vogue with incubus's 2.2 super froyo rls 12.
Thanks for your time.
I dont know the new voice commands.
But usually it uploads your recorded voice, than the google servers will try to find out what you said and than give you back the text or now the text and the actions the phone has to do.
So you need data for voice commands but not for sending a sms or something.
Correct me if im wrong.

Unfortunately, it DOES require a data connection...
But for anybody who has data, here's how I got it working...
No need to uninstall/remove anything
- Install/Update "Voice Search" from the Market. I couldn't get Google Search to install.
- Open Voice Search.
- When the window appears with the things you can say it doesn't show the whole window. I think there's 2 buttons at the bottom that you can't see. How I got past this was to press Down 4 time, Left once. This will select the "ok" or whatever button, and you won't have to do it anymore.
EDIT: Here's the pic I posted in the other thread to help anybody else.

THANK YOU. You just made my weekend. I couldn't figure out how to get past this
Another way around the startup dialog is to start it in landscape mode. The dialog fits in landscape mode. But I'll try to fix the portrait dialog with some apktool magic anyway.
You are probably aware that Google Play Books, Movies and Magazine apps are hidden on the Nexus 7 when you are outside of the few permitted countries like US.
Since I am in Singapore, it is extremely annoying for the app to keep disappearing off my screens and folders each time I get out of my US ip. Hence I am using the following Titanium Backup widget to make the process simpler:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",
"lightbox_stop_slideshow": "Stop slideshow",

"lightbox_thumbnails": "Thumbnails",
"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Step 1. Go to widgets and look for Titanium Backup [Actions], not the other one. I am using the paid version of Titanium but I don't think it makes a difference.
Step 2. Drop it somewhere on your desktop and you should see the next screen.
Step 3. Tap on Action and choose Defrost and Launch an app.
Step 4. Tap on Select the app and choose Google Play Books or any other app you want, like the Movies/TV or Magazines app.
Step 5. Password is optional, I skip it. Tap "Create the widget" and you're done.
Now whenever you want to read your books, just tap on the widget on your screen. It doesn't matter what ip you are in, what country you are in.
I find that this is the fastest and simplest way for me to access my books. Hope it is useful to you.
Great!
Advice: put some upper case letters on thread (HOW TO)

I have the paid version, when I choose the Action widge and chose Defrost option, it doesn't ask me to choose an app, it just creates the widget
How about a DNS hack ? would that work ?

Did you choose "Defrost all user & system apps"? That's not the one, try scrolling up, it should be an action called Defrost and Launch

No idea about that. You can try it out.
I like my method because it doesn't interfere with any other apps or settings or internet connections and is real quick and simple.
What's your widget that you use on your homescreen?
BTW how did you use your $25 credit? I have problems with that :\

Widget is OMC, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sunnykwong.freeomc
the $25 credit? I'm not sure if it is still available for redemption, I heard it might have expired at the end of last month.
Anyway I had to log into Google Play with a US ip address, add in a credit card using a US address, but international cards work fine.
When I receive an email from Facebook (for any notification such as Birthday reminds, Login alerts, etc.) on my phone (whether to Gmail, Yahoo, or Outlook), and open Facebook via any link provided in the email, I am shown the option of whether to "Open with" using "Facebook", "Chrome", or "Internet" (because I have never set a default). If I choose Facebook, it opens a Facebook app, but it is slightly different than if I open the Facebook app directly from App drawer. For example, there is no option to "Post to someone's timeline" in the version opened from the Email link.
In the following images, you can see for yourself that there is a difference between Email Link Facebook (left side) and Native Facebook (right side).
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
Notice that they are clearly different. The Email Link Facebook doesn't even have a "Write Post" option.
Is this because it is sometimes launching the un-updated Facebook app that came preloaded on my phone? Can other Galaxy S6 users confirm this experience? How can I stop this from happening?
Try clearing data from the app and signing in again

I had already tried that. It didn't work. I can't uninstall completely, because FB came preloaded. But after removing updates and clearing all data, my phone requested to download FB after clicking on the FB icon in my app drawer. I allowed it. The outcome was the same as I've described above. I then downloaded the latest updates from the Play Store. The outcome was again the same as I described above.
Serio22, are you saying this does not occur on your Samsung Galaxy S6?
It looks the same as when I open it from the app drawer, don't use it much though, but links never open for me

Took almost a month to provide but now its here!
You need the beta google play services and the google app (ALSO In beta)
Do this by going to settings>google>three dot menu at top right>help and feedback>three dot menu at top right>open in google play store>go all the way at the bottom and it should say something about testing and please press yes im in or accept or something like that>wait>update gplay services
Do the same for the google app. Instead of going through settings. Go to play store, search for google, go all the way down and press accept or yes im in and wait, and update.
Now, the hard part. It might take up to 30 days for this to complete.
But first, go to your menu on google app, and tap settings, if you see google assistant, press settings, follow steps to say Hey Google.
EXCEPTIONS
This is only done using the google app, and can only be invoked by saying Ok Google or Hey Google.
Cannot be done on any other device that is not J327T, J327T1, or J327P.
That's all folks! Please thank me if this post is useful. Post the results and let the games begin!
Thanks
BM
And also, if you see the y shaped circle of circle icon in your notification bar, then that's the signal that it is on your device.
ONLY TESTED ON J3 PRIME TMOBILE VARIENT (J327T)

I got google assistant by just updating the google app recently.
Thats what I did pcwiz101.
I have a screenshot that is pending upload.
I have finally got the last MIUI 12.5 update alongside Android 11. Everything was fine except the fact that I cannot remove the bubble notifications.
I have followed all the workaround online but it seems that MIUI rom is slight difference and I cannot find this option:

someone has fixed this?
Download activity launcher, search (with the search button) for notifications, then under the settings app entry, tap on notifications, it will open the settings page.
Xiaomi apparently forgot to enable the page in the settings. There are a couple more hidden settings as well, such as interpolated frames on videos and something with more vivid/hdr like recording of videos.

this is interesting: where can I check these video settings?
anyway I have managed to sort with the bubbles stuff: there is written "manage" under the bubble, so tiny that was impossible to spot. Anyway Xiaomi have to implement the settings because if some are hide then are useless

Just go through the settings app section, I don't remember which setting you need to open, plus I think it only works on the xiaomi video/gallery apps.

hold on, you are telling me to go to settings app section, but earlier you were mentioning to download activity launcher. Is this a third party app? I wouldn't install additional apps but, in case I have to, which app is? I cannot find on Play Store.
Whenever any notification comes, there is More option and.notifications from that app can be directly managed for future

I'm talking about activity launcher, go to the settings app section inside the activity launcher app and open all subsections one by one till you find it.
Here's the app.
ehi, anyway I think I sorted: there is a "manage" option under the bubble which is basically invisible but is there. once you click on that command you can remove bubbles and check other settings.
