LG-P999 Ruined Pls. Help - LG Optimus 2x

So my LGP999 of 2 years after I "rooted" it, and tried too install a custom recovery changed the boot logo, and doesn't even load up just stays up the book logo or the s/w screen sometimes, I can't load clockwork mod, I am a noob, don't get me wrong i've flash many roms on my nexus 4 but really want to revive my LG-P999 from my friend, If this helps I bought it from wind mobile canada.

Nvflash and smartflash are the last resort, can revive any kind of soft brick. Unfortunately all binaries available are from stock roms, you'll have to root and install recovery in order to install custom roms afterwards.

Sorry to break the news to you, but afaik the P999 is incompatible with P990 ROMs! The P999 is NOT an Optimus 2x, but rather a LG G2x.
Check out this thread for more details.
Good luck fixing it!

You can fix it. Make sure baseband are older than latest update(flash one with smartflash). Then use LG update tool and do an emergency update. LG update your phone by checking current baseband

[Q] Help!! K990 with K999 firmware

Hi Guys I'm a complete noob so please no pointing and laughing!!! lol
I recently bought a second hand K990 which was rooted. It was advertised as a k999 and me rushing, flashed a stock k999 firmware to the fone without checking properly, I have looked but cant seem to figure out how to flash it back to standard k990 firmware any help would be much appreciated, but please bare in mind I'm new to this, I dont want custom roms or root just a stock standard K990
cheers guys
Beejay
Wait, did you mean p990 and p999
?
yes sorry p990 and p999.
I think I have flashed the wrong rom for my model, all my serial numbers and paperwork say p990 but it wont run any p990 roms just boot loops all the time I can get it to run p999 roms but it has the unknown baseband issue? can anyone help?
I'm flashing with cwm...
The easiest way to whip it back into shape is probably to NVFlash an old rom, root it and install CWM and continue from there.
Sorry do you have P990 or p999? And is a stock P990 or stock p999 in your p990/p999? I'm confused at the moment.

Sorry forgot to post that I managed to get it back by using this exact method installed CWM and flashed an old rom to the phone, then wiped the lot including cwm I was then able to connect to nvflash, it wouldn't do this while I had the p999 rom installed, once NVflash was done installing a stock rom I managed to boot up and now have the fone working thanks for all the intended help guys ... I dare not touch it now as it's quite finnicky and I dont want to mess it up again! so looks like Froyo for me lol thanks again.

[Q] How to flash back to stock rom and unroot my P970?

Dear All brother
I just want to flash back to stock rom and unroot my P970 like initial status. Is there any tools or method to do so?
It's very simple, just follow the Tutorial: LG P970 (P970H) unbrick/flash using SmartFlash Tool and install whatever version of firmware you had initially, you can find V10 firmwares on the Firmwares LG P970, P970H thread.
If you want to get to the official V20 firmware, just upgrade your phone using the LG program (the one that came on the CD with your phone).
This way you'll have an "official ROM" on your phone and it won't be rooted either (it's just like it came "from factory").
Btw, you'll loose the root and the recovery functionality, but i think that's what you wanted in the first place
EDIT : replaced Samsung with LG, i was reading up on modifying my Samsung Spica and somehow mixed up the postings

back to stock 2.3.5 without KDZ files

Ok I am going to post this because it worked for me several times. If it works for you, great, if not, sorry......I am assuming zero responsibility for bricking your phone ….. So I was thinking there should be a simple way to go back to stock 2.3.5 using just the "LGMobile Support Tool" The problem is that it won’t let you run the update tool if it sees that the operating system version is correct (i.e. running any rom that is 20p based) so what I did was download an O3D rom and placed it on the phone (ThiaiZO3DV2.7.1GB to be exact) I used CWM to install the rom. What this accomplished was to change the OS version but not the baseband. When the rom was loaded and working I turned on debugging and then used the "LGMobile Support Tool">>>(the tool can be downloaded from the LG web site) it will now update the phone to stock 2.3.5 without giving you the message that says your phone is up to date. If you get stuck in a boot loop (as I did ) just pull the battery put it back in and boot into stock recovery using volume down , 3d button and power and just do all the wipes then reboot….I hope this helps someone
Ok,
just to be clear you were coming from the Optimus 3D baseband and rom and successfully flashed to the US Thrill baseband and rom using this method?
I just saw that gingerbread is finally out for the Thrill and thought i'd flash back if there was an easy way. (I have been running the Optimus 3d baseband and defualt rom for quite a while now)

Then there isn't much reason to switch to v20p if you are already on gingerbread unless you miss the at&t bloatware

But aren't I missing one of the bands (or frequencies) that at&t uses?
I have never had too many troubles in service but I do notice I almost always have less bars than other At&t users in the same locations
No I was on the Thrill ATT baseband ....... This is just to go back to stock if you are already on US baseband....Sorry I should have been more clear..... Say you were using a custom rom like "AcuraTeam_v.20P" which was made for the thrill, and you wanted to go back to stock 2.3.5 but you didnt have a clockwork mod backup of it on your phone. If you were to try using the "LGMobile Support Tool" it would tell you that your phone was already up to date and didnt need updated. So to get around this without having to use KDZ files to get back to stock 2.3.5 you would install the O3D rom which changes the version number of the operating system which tricks the "LGMobile Support Tool" into going ahead and reloading the phone with the latest ATT update.

[Q] <Optimus Black KU5900 CWM Recovery Problem>

Hello!!
I've recently updated my phone to Official ICS (Korean Ver.) V30I and I had problems installing the recovery.
I could root my phone, its just that I can't install the recovery. I know there are already modified ICS Korean Ver. for p970 but there are still a lot of bugs and battery life is kind a shorter than the official ics.
First, I've used rom manager to install but after boot, ""security error"" came up at boot and cannot even start.
Second, I've also tried using other methods such as programs made by OB devs but still the same problem.
So I would like to ask, if anyone out there has this problem and any solutions to this, please reply.
Have a nice day and thanx.!!

Don't use ROM Coverter! It doesn't put the different bin parts correctly with such a large bin file.
If your using V30I then I'm assuming you have KU5900. Use novasoc's lg extractor to extract the bin file, patch the various .bin files together in numerical order. You can then use novasoc's recovery injector to patch the bin file. Patch with SFT and voila.

Answering your question, I don't have service with a company in the U,S,A, anymore. Now I'm here just on vacations. I just purchased this Thrill without testing a sim card (I won't pay that expensive roaming from my overseas carrier). I plan to unlock it and use it there.
Thanks for the above link but... will this work on a Thrill (not optimus 3d)? I haven't tried the custom ICS yet, I would like to if it doesn't have those problems with the 3d camera. Can I move from the rooted Official ICS (no CWM) to the custom ICS?

I don't think the 3D camera is fixed on any of the custom ones yet. I haven't checked in a bit, but from the last one I tried it wasn't. You're probably going to have to use CWM or TWRP to flash the custom ICS ROM as well.
The LG Optimus 3D and the the LG Thrill are essentially the same phone. The LG Thrill is the US version of the Optimus 3D. Those instructions will work with your phone. If you would like to install CWM you can use the following instructions to install the recovery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1859662
The download link is for the .apk file and is best downloaded from your phone, if that is possible. You need to be rooted for this to work. I am using the following ROM on my LG Thrill with excellent service.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1956347
If you decide to use that ROM or one of the other Custom O3D ROMS, you will need a baseband called "LGP920AT-00-V18a-AMA-XXX-OCT-28-2011+0_CP.fls" to work in the US, found here

When you take the phone back overseas, you will need to change the baseband to one that works for your area. You can determine which one you need in this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1958484
You can obtain whichever baseband you choose, from the same place you got the previous one.

Hello. I was wondering when installing one of these basebands would you flash it in cwm?

No. You have to install the baseband and the original ICS port through lg flash tool if you are updating from gingerbread. If you already installed ICS then all you have to do is install the baseband through the same tool. But if you are flashing only the baseband, when it finishes it's going to say invalid ap path. When it tells me this, it flashed my baseband, but it normally has an AP (in this case, ICS) along with the CP (normally the baseband) which is why I think it gives this error message. So you can just restart your phone.
