CM has option to wake up a device through volume control keys. Search for an app that unlocks device through volume key...I don't know whether there is any but at least try searching.

All, I know that galaxy doesnt have dedicated hard buttons for accept and cancel calls but I didnt think it will be so painful to use. If I am in any application, I need to press center button to come to home screen and then press the phone icon from dock and then with many clicks I finally call someone. Any way to change this. ?
I wish there was some substitute for that Green button in galaxy. I really miss hitting the green button in any application and getting to the phone app to start dialing
Best is if there could be a third party phone app that we could use. Does anybody have it. Can someone suggest a few names.
Thanks for your help.
No one ?
I really can't believe everybody is happy with this painful procedure of calling someone. Most of the times when I center press, and click on phone on the doc, it goes to call history. So i again have to click one tab and then start dialing. Too much of work.
To make it worse, I haven't yet found a good way of customizing my bluetooth button to launch a voice dialer. It just simply calls the last person I called - thats it.
Atleast is there a way that you know to customise the bluetooth button to start Vlingo or something like that.
This becomes a major painpoint while driving.
Anyone ! ?
Thanks.
what model of sgs are you using !?
i'm having a little hard time on understanding the issue ...
this is a i9000 forum.
maybe you shold post the q' on american models forums here on xda ..
I think they've got the buttons and stuff
software are applicable to all versions of SGS, to all adroid actually
except for some very hardware specific softwares
only ROMs are specific to country releases
So you are finding it painful to click a few buttons... yet you still got a smart phone, which requires you to devote hours in order to fully explore its potential.
Far as I know, there's no way around this.

I have an unbranded i9000 only which does not have a dedicated call button. The only way to access thee phone app is to hit the center vuitton and then access the phone icon on the dock.
True, I've spent hours and hours on the phone understanding and customizing it, but doing this calling process by left handing while driving is a problem. Say isn't my sat nav on and need to call someone while driving. So that means tapping center button, hitting phone icon, hitting keypad tab and then dialing the buttons.that's the problem.

I too want a dedicated button. But for me its the end call button. It just takes a few secs to hang up but annoying as I need to wait for screen to wake up then unlag. And lots of time I just plan forget. Mind u I know I can use power as hang up but that also has other problems

Hi, my home button after flashing to froyo (official) has started to give me problems, until it has completely stopped working. At first I thought it was a software problem, but then I realized that even in download mode, the key does not work.
the phone never came in contact with water nor has ever fallen.
I would like to know if the button can be easily replaced by me, ordering the parts on the internet (i found on google globaldirectparts.com/Samsung-i9000-Home-Button-Flex-Cable-p/smsng6087150.htm ) or if I'm forced to send it in for service, and who knows how long to wait ...
I have already disassembled everything easly, but I have not tried to remove the key because it seems stuck and the guides on youtube do not show how to disassemble the home button.
Thank you for your help and sorry for my bad english
If it was a hardware fault, why not get it fixed officially under the warranty?
you are right, but, how long I have to wait? the assistance told me I have to wait AT LEAST 10 days. I need it for work and I need it for his internet connection.
I don't want to wait that much: if it is easy to do by myself, why not?

Hello!
This is my first topic on XDA but I think this is the right section to post this at. So my problem is that I have a HTC Sensation XL which I got back in Januari 2012. It's a decent phone in my opinion but I have a really annoying problem with this phone.
First off, my phone is rooted. I am not a pro at rooting and using custom roms because it was my friend who rooted it, @devstaff.
So, when I start up my phone it works perfect and smooth until a few minutes in when my touchscreen just stops working and also the 4 touch buttons below the display. I think it's the digitizer which is a bit crazy because my volume buttons and the off button works. When I try to lock the phone by pressing the off button it has a delay to ''darken'' the screen compared when it is working normal. And after I have locked it I can't make it light up again so I have to restart the phone my picking out the battery. I have tried to factory reset the phone via recovery too, but the problem still comes back. I have read that I can press the off button hard to make it nudge the digitizer but that was on the HTC HD and I don't know if it works on this phone.
That was all I know about the problem and I really want to fix this because I haven't used it since November 2012. And I couldn't find this same problem on the forum so I will post this.
Cheers!

Hey everyone,
I have done a search around the forums here and tried alot of the options given by the members on how I may unbrick my device.
However all the guides were about softbricking. I believe my phone is hard bricked. I get no charge light and no vibration or lights on the front of the phone.
Most of the options I read about required the phone to be able to atleast enter recovery but I am unable to do so I have tried for over 5 minutes holding the buttons down no response.
It was a STOCK phone, I have no idea what caused the QSBUSB_LOAD error.
I am yet to try the ubuntu method as I am looking for more information on it.
so basically I'm asking if anyone else has come back from a hard brick and ifso how did you achieve it
thanks.
Send it back for repairs. No other way unfortunately

Hi Guys, I need help on my HTC One. I decided to join this forum to ask for help from you guys. I am no android nor a pc techie which makes me a newbie when it comes to terms and everything technical, so I have to say sorry if I don't get or understand your terms on your replies.
Here's the problem. MY HTC ONE WENT DEAD! My phone is updating it's applications that time and then suddenly the screen freezes and eventually went off. After that it won't turn on or even respond to a hard reset(power button + volume buttons). Wall charging it or even plugging it to a PC doesn't make the notification led turn on. But i do notice that when i plug it to the PC it cannot install the device so I take a look on the device manager and the device name of my unit is "QHSUSB_DLOAD". I googled it up and other forums says that its a problem on the motherboard and it's on a hardbricked state. I've done a lot of searching and stuffs but I cannot find a forum thread that will specifically fix HTC One(because i think that cure/solution only applies to a specific unit). I've seen them unbrick other HTC units but not the HTC One. I know the easiest solution is to bring it back to a HTC service center but I think that's gonna cost me big bucks knowing that it's a motherboard problem.
So guys, with all my heart I beg you, If you know a solution or any thread that discusses the same problem as mine, Please Help me T_T.

You sir are screwed. Your HTC One is bricked & I don't believe it is fixable. There might be one thing to attempt but since you are not a techie, it would be very difficult to try. It need to go to a repair facility.
