[Q] restore ta with broken screen no root? - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear xda
I need my phone to be repaired, they will not repair it is i have mij BU unlocked.
Today while in the Phonehouse (while waiting on my buddy with i-phone troubles) my xZ1 dropt, screen down on the floor.
Screen was cracked, from the right to left (down and up).
Screen is not responsing.
I have my ta bakup, and a copie of the orriginal softwhare it had when i made the backup.
I flashed stock FW only to discover/remember i have to give root rights to restore TA. I cant even unlock my screen.
does someone know a solution?
The only thing I can think of is flash kernel (like doomlord) and then restore an cwm back-up from someone with the given rootrights (for ADB I supose?) and usb-debugging on.
Will this work?
If Yes...
Is someone willing to sent me a back-up? ( is wich I can restore TA and then restore clean .534)
Please Help

My suggestion is to flash a cmw recovery so that you can use the volume keys to navigate.
Then flash a pre rooted rom and use a mouse via a usbotg cable.
Gain root, restore YOUR ta, then flash a stock ftf.
You should be able to claim on warenty then

did it, worke like a sharm (restored my old ackup, started sixaxis with usbotg mouse so I could use a mouse while pluged in pc, restored ta, restored FW.
can I check somewhere if it worked?
flashtool says my BLis loked

dial
*#*#7378423#*#*
goto service info/configuration.
It should say
bootloader unlock allowed: yes
then your bootloader is locked
if it says
bootloader unlocked: yes
then it is still unlocked.
But if flashtool says its locked, then its locked.
FYI, I returned my bootloader unlocked phone to Vodafone for a replacement screen, they just sent me a new one with no questions asked

[Q] Unlocked Bootloader, Unrooted OTA Update?

Heyy guys I have a XperiaSP which have unlocked bootloader and unrooted phone (just unrooted it a while ago). I would REALLY like to update my phone because there's too many bug here on Xperia SP. However, when the phone was still rooted I tried to update and it failed. Now after unroot I was going to update but then the fact that I unlocked the bootloader I am really worried about wiping/bricking the phone through OTA update. Any help pls?
P.S - My phone is barely Unlocked. It is nearly as stock and no custom recovery nor root is installed.
Edit : By the way, is the Xperia SP really got Wi-Fi issues? My iPod got full signal on home's wifi and my SP got barely 1-2..
hmmm

Ahh yeah gonna try that ASAP. but I just forgot to mention that my primary laptop is now on service center (Got a bit problem there) so I can't really update my SP through that.
I tried updating just now through OTA. After the reboot a popup message appeared :
"Could not install new software version. Try again."
Is that because of my unlocked bootloader? Cos I unrooted my phone completely through SuperSU.
If so how to relock the bootloader??
If you want to relock the bootloader just use FlashTool. In your case because you don't have any custom Firmware on your phone this should be quite easy.
But I always thought when updating with having root access you can update but lose root. Maybe it didn't work (the update) because of a complete diffenent reason. Did you try it a second time?

When I got my laptop back, I'm definitely going to relock the bootloader. But if I do something wrong, will it hard brick or something? (sorry for my parranoidness) and relocking is not much difference from unlocking right?
I tried installing the software update the second time. Unlocked BL, fully unrooted (No Super SU). Still fails gonna try at PCCompanion

You should flash stock ROM using flashtool, relock the bootloader, and then restore the TA partition

I'm on my stock ROM now (Default Sony ROM right? But I've updated it before, does it count as stock?)
What's TA partition?
Sorry for noob Qs
I never do this before. So can I update my phone via pc companion via unlocked bootloader? On stock rom without root and recovery?

If you didn't flash anything on your device you can relock your bootloader without any problems. If you had a custom recovery, kernel or ROM and you relock your bootloader while having this custom recovery, kernel or ROM this should brick your phone (I think this could even be a hard brick) but if everything is stock (like I already said) there shouldn't be any problems with relocking
TA partition contains the working bravia engine (2) which gets lost if you unlock bootloader. If you had made a backup of the TA partition you could restore this and get the bravia engine back

Yes, you'll be able to get the 4.3 update without the TA partition. But, as everyone else here said, make sure you're on a stock ROM, with a locked bootloader.
Locked bootloader ----> You can use PC Companion or Flashtool to update your phone
Unlocked bootloader ------> Flashtool only
Also, don't try to update your phone via OTA while having your bootlader unlocked, because it will brick your device.

My original Stock Rom had been flashed to CM 10, but now I have flashed it back to stock rom that I tried to search online from this site. Is it counted as original stock rom or not? My phone is unlocked bootloader, and I got ota update but cannot install, I don't know why; maybe it has been changed or maybe of unlock bootloader?

i want to ask you something my last mobile is Samsung galaxy r
when we install kernel there is warning or yellow triangle sign is coming rest things work fine
download count also increases
i want to know that if i root Sony sp then like some things happen
i have to submit my full imei number to Sony
if i lock boot loader again then i can regain my warranty if my imei number is with sony
Azhar
There is no flash counter to worry about with Sony phones...... Once you have unlocked bootloader your warranty is void even if you relock it.
Rooting does not void warranty.

Why?? I will relock bootloader, restore DRM keys, flash stock rom and will have same system when was when I bought the phone.
That I have "order" unlocking bootloader key doesen't mean that I did it.

Yes. But when you relock it, restore TA partition and flash stock there will be no sign that you have done it.
You may be correct... but most people will say that unlocking bootloader well void the warranty.

Yes, but you have given the imei of your device to Sony in order to get the unlock code. So if something happens to you phone and you get it at a Sony repairing center, the first thing they do is to read the imei from your device and check if it is in there database

And so?? They also have my phone in database when I bought it. I dont understand your reasoning.
I have buy a bulb yesterday. Just in case. Thats mean that I have to immediately change it??
No.
And for confirmation.
I ave do it twice.
First with my old LG GT540. (Stock -> root -> cyanogenmod (warranty off) -> flash stock without recovery, and fastboot (warranty on)
Second. Xperia SP (Stock -> root -> bootloader unlock (warranty off) -> existenz -> relocking BL -> Restoring TA -> Stock ROM (warranty on)
Both of them was rapairing without aditional costs.
End.

[Q] Top of screen doesn´t recognize touch

Hey guys,
I have a problem: the top part of my phone´s screen doesn´t recognize touch since 2 days now. I contacted Sony Support and they told me to send my phone in.
I unlocked the bootloader and rooted it and now I´m on existenz 2.15.
So how about the warranty?
I can relock bootloader and go back to stock rom but I lost the TA-partition (not on my PC anymore - dunno why).
Is this a hardware or software issue?
Without the TA-partition they will recognize that I unlocked the bootloader, but it seems like this is an hardware issue so they should repair it, shouldn´t they?
Edit: I should add that It happend after using not the original Sony charger. And I already did a factory reset and switched back to stock rom but nothing helped. So it seems to be an hardware issue not caused by unlocking bootloader etc. And then I still should have warranty (hopefully^^).
they will repair it but if you don't restore your ta partition you will pay for the repair.

I feared that this will happen.
Do you have any idea how expensive this will be?
You can lock bootloader without restoring ta. I had arc s with unlocked bootloader, ive locked it (without restoring ta so no DRM keys), sent it to sony because not charging and they gave me back Xperia SP

Had the same problem....
I had the same problem about a week ago... 1,5cm top screen touch didnt work... I relocked bootloader, repaired software on SEUS... had no warranty issue... they replaced the whole screen... this is a common issue on xperia SP... many user had it. :silly:

[Q] UB already, can I still do TA backup?

I bought used Xperia Z1, and today went to service menu and noticed the bootloader is already unlocked.
This is I understand should be procedure:
TA backup > Unlock bootloader > Root > Downgrade
question is can I still do TA backup now? knowing it already came with unlocked bootloader ?
P.S.
ver - 4.3 .136
root - no, (no SuperUser seen)
DRM keys -> present
You can check DRM status

Type *#*#7378423#*#* on your phone and go to Service Test > Security, if you have [Unknown Error] instead of [Key OK] they are lost, to restore them the only way is to use Backup of your TA. If you have all [Key OK] they are OK!

simple answer is no
You have wiped your ta partition when unlocking
however, there is no need to unlock the bootloader to root, just follow the link in my signature
also, you need root to backup the TA
And I bet your bootloader is not already unlocked, they do not come like that
dial
*#*#7378423#*#*
goto service info and configuration. Post what the last line says
I bet it says
bootloader unlock allowed: yes
That means you are able to unlock it, but it is not unlocked yet
If it was unlocked it would say
Bootloader unlocked: yes

Thanks for replying I am new to Sony phones, coming from Galaxy world !!!
here is what I get in service menu for DRM keys and Unlock bootloader (attached pics)
so this is what I understand: it is unlocked bootloader,
I can root it
I can install custom roms etc.
but incase anything goes wrong, I cannot go back and install stock rom, or downgrade from 4.3 (currently) to 4.2.2 ? and claim warranty ...

yes, just flash XZDR kernel from here http://nut.xperia-files.com/
http://prntscr.com/3nnvhr
Just extract boot img, flash using fastboot, then enter recovery and flash the whole .zip to get wifi modules etc
Then flash SuperSU.zip from chainfire
http://download.chainfire.eu/420/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.99.zip
then enter philz recovery, goto philz options and tick "fix root on reboot"
reboot to system and fix root.
All done.
Yes you can flash stock FTF files and yes you can downgrade, but there is no point.
You can downgrade but do take not that sometimes you lose your IMEI when skipping major downgrades for example when you're on android 4.4 and you flash a android 4.2 ftf you'll lose your IMEI. Workaround is you have to flash android 4.3 1st before android 4.2

If I received unlock code from Sony, unlocked phone via official way, than relocked bootloader and restored TA is there any way that service will detect if bootloader is relocked?

I think sony is only able to see especially if your request code!! but the operator does not see it because he lacks experience lool he does not know the word bootloader!
why this issue ??

I dont't think so, because you can request the code and never use it. Restoring TA brings the phone back to state like it was never unlocked. Nobody can tell if you unlocked bootloader or not. If you relock bootloader via flashtool instead via restoring TA backup, then they can tell you relocked it because your DRM keys will be missing. You are safe.
merci

No is the simple answer.
I don't know if they have the tools to check such things, but they most probably will only check if official fw == 1 &if bootloader lcoked == 1.
I normal language: They will only check if you have official fw and if your bootloader is locked.
ok
is it normal that the "TA backup" is 160 kilobytes? i did a backup sometime ago.. but 160kb is not really much.. i thought it would be 800mb or something
