[Q] Top of screen doesn´t recognize touch - Xperia SP Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I have a problem: the top part of my phone´s screen doesn´t recognize touch since 2 days now. I contacted Sony Support and they told me to send my phone in.
I unlocked the bootloader and rooted it and now I´m on existenz 2.15.
So how about the warranty?
I can relock bootloader and go back to stock rom but I lost the TA-partition (not on my PC anymore - dunno why).
Is this a hardware or software issue?
Without the TA-partition they will recognize that I unlocked the bootloader, but it seems like this is an hardware issue so they should repair it, shouldn´t they?
Edit: I should add that It happend after using not the original Sony charger. And I already did a factory reset and switched back to stock rom but nothing helped. So it seems to be an hardware issue not caused by unlocking bootloader etc. And then I still should have warranty (hopefully^^).

they will repair it but if you don't restore your ta partition you will pay for the repair.

wow that was fast
I feared that this will happen.
Do you have any idea how expensive this will be?

You can lock bootloader without restoring ta. I had arc s with unlocked bootloader, ive locked it (without restoring ta so no DRM keys), sent it to sony because not charging and they gave me back Xperia SP

Yeah I know that. Did it some time ago and then unlocked it again.
I hope I have luck too and they won´t let me pay^^

Had the same problem....
I had the same problem about a week ago... 1,5cm top screen touch didnt work... I relocked bootloader, repaired software on SEUS... had no warranty issue... they replaced the whole screen... this is a common issue on xperia SP... many user had it. :silly:

[Q] How to fully restore Factory Settings for warranty service

Morning Friends,
I need to take my Z to a service center.
Now, I have a custom recovery (CWM Based), bootloader is unlocked, and a deodexed and rooted 434 firmware installed.
From what I know, the bootloader is not a problem - Just relock it with Flash tool. The recovery is what I'm worried about.
If I reflash my region's 434 Stock ROM, will it override my Recovery (and therefor Custom Kernel)? I need to leave no traces behind and as far as I know, there's no way to just uninstall a custom recovery as they're fused with the Kernel.
Ftf will restore everything
I have seen that you have said your BL is unlocked if so did you back up your TA partition before unlocking, if you didn't then you can't get your warranty back

I didn't. Meh. Worth a shot anyhow... Think they check for DRM keys? I believe they only verify if the bootloader is locked or unlocked...
If you have a hardware fault then they should honour the warranty regardless of bootloader status
Yup, there's a small rip that I didn't cause in the rubber of the headphones flap, so it keeps popping open by itself.
Nevertheless, I wouldn't like to take any chances in case they decide to check the software on the phone.

When the arc s first came out people unlocked there bootloader and later they found out that there was a screen fault on it, Sony wouldn't touch the unlocked ones and voided the warranty on it

Well, thing is, this is a Sony certified retailer I'm talking about - Of course they have their set of clear instructions from Sony, but they might slack off a bit - Or like Michealtbh said, might take care of it with or without any connection to the Bootloader.
Worth a shot.
Worst case scenario I'll have to look for replacement flaps and a private lab that'll install it.

My xperia t keeps rebooting

My xperia t keeps rebooting, I've tried to reflash stock rom, do repair via pcc, but it didn't work. When they starts I can't use phone for few hours, then for few minutes I can use phone again.. then again reboots. Please help me.
The weird thing is that after the phone starts to reboot and I turn it on, seems like it reboots after few seconds that I've entered sim pin, I think when it find 3g

atm I'm on a ics stock one with stock kernel and non rooted, when that happened I had xperiment 2.5, it was rooted and I had a stock kernel .140 iirc.
I don't remember what I did, maybe once I've removed sim card, another thing I've done is restore drm keys.

restore drm keys? yoe mean you have unlocked the bootloader and then relocked by restoring your TA?
I suggest if you have relocked your bootloader just use PCCompanion to repair your phone.
I've tried to repair via pcc, It didn't fix those reboots, I think it's the sim the problem. WIthout the sim looks like it doesn't reboot, tomorrow I'll buy a new sim, hope it's gonna fix that ****.

Have you ever thought that it could be your battery? I replaced mine with a brand new battery and the restarts have gone ever since. (I own xperia T)
Is the battery my problems started at the same mode and the answer was the broken battery

Warranty Back

I have unlocked Bootloader but i dont have TA backup and No DRM Keys backup.. I have unlocked my Bootloader by giving SONY my IMEI NO. and putting the code in fastboot.. So i think SONY knows my warranty is void.. Is there anyway i can get my phone back to Original state with locked Bootloader and everything intact..
And most important Restoring of Warranty..

The main problem in your case is that you don't have your TA and DRM keys to restore to original state. The IMEI given to Sony is irrelevant and not a issue because you can give the IMAI but never unlocked the bootloader, like I did, or some one give your IMEI to Sony, so thay can't void you warranty just because of the IMEI. Your problem is related to TA and DRM keys only.

Yes, when you did a Backup of your TA the DRM keys was backed up as well so when you will restore TA they will be back too.
Whatsoever.. My ph is already 4 months old so left with 8 months.. I ll make sure nothing happens to my Mobile.. Because after 12 months warranty is of no use

[Q] restore ta with broken screen no root?

Dear xda
I need my phone to be repaired, they will not repair it is i have mij BU unlocked.
Today while in the Phonehouse (while waiting on my buddy with i-phone troubles) my xZ1 dropt, screen down on the floor.
Screen was cracked, from the right to left (down and up).
Screen is not responsing.
I have my ta bakup, and a copie of the orriginal softwhare it had when i made the backup.
I flashed stock FW only to discover/remember i have to give root rights to restore TA. I cant even unlock my screen.
does someone know a solution?
The only thing I can think of is flash kernel (like doomlord) and then restore an cwm back-up from someone with the given rootrights (for ADB I supose?) and usb-debugging on.
Will this work?
If Yes...
Is someone willing to sent me a back-up? ( is wich I can restore TA and then restore clean .534)
Please Help
My suggestion is to flash a cmw recovery so that you can use the volume keys to navigate.
Then flash a pre rooted rom and use a mouse via a usbotg cable.
Gain root, restore YOUR ta, then flash a stock ftf.
You should be able to claim on warenty then

can I check somewhere if it worked?
flashtool says my BLis loked
dial
*#*#7378423#*#*
goto service info/configuration.
It should say
bootloader unlock allowed: yes
then your bootloader is locked
if it says
bootloader unlocked: yes
then it is still unlocked.
But if flashtool says its locked, then its locked.
FYI, I returned my bootloader unlocked phone to Vodafone for a replacement screen, they just sent me a new one with no questions asked

[Q] Preparation before service (UB/Custom Rom)

Hi, I'm having the squeaky vibration problem. My phone is about 6 months old and I've been having this noisy vibration squeak for at lease 6 weeks now. I'm running slimkit evo 8.1 on a unlocked bootloader. Before I try to get it fixed by Sony, do I need to reset back to stock and lock my bootloader?
Could anyone give me some pointer to what I could say to get the phone exchanged for a brand new one? I can't be without a phone for 2-3 weeks (estimated service time by resale store).

Lock the bootloader via flashtool and install a stock rom..The chance that they repair or exchange the device is far better with locked bootloader. If it is unlocked they may recognize it and refuse to repair the device.

Hmm, without the drm keys they will still know you unlocked it.
Restore the TA partition (that you should have taken before you unlocked) to relock and restore the DRM keys. then flash a stock FTF
