[Q] HTC One Won't Turn On Red Blink 5 Seconds - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I've been having a strange issue with my phone for the past two days.
It started last night when the phone turned itself off. If I plugged it into the charger I was able to get it into fastboot and then bootloader, but then it would turn itself off. It would not boot into the system at all. I tried this many times before I gave up until this morning.
This morning I was able to go into fastboot and then into bootloader. I was then able to flash ViperOne 5.7 and ElementalX 13.0 back onto the phone and it worked! I was so happy. Until about 5PM when the phone turned off again. I was able to reflash the ROM and KERNEL and it turned off after about 15 mins of use. Reflashed again and it turned off after a couple of hours. I was able to get into fastboot when plugged into a charger at first, but now nothing.
The exact experience I am currently having is that when I plug the phone in the charger the LED flashes red about once every five seconds until it stops completely. If I plug it into my computer it will give me the windows sound that's plugged in.
Holding the power button for two minutes does nothing. Trying to turn it on with a bright light near the sensor does nothing. I am now not even able to hold the power and down volume to get into fastboot.
I'm not sure what else to do. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks

G1 won't turn on

Hi,
This happened a while ago but never thought to post it. So, all of a sudden one night my phone turned off. I tried to turn it back on, and it didn't respond. I kept trying, no dice. When I plug in the charger the LED changes to red for a few seconds, only to go away soon. Occasionally, it will boot to the G1 screen, but then turn off, and other times into recovery, only to turn off a few seconds later, same with fastboot. I've tried 2 batteries as well. It was the day after flashing CM 5.0.8 I believe.
Thanks!

wont turn on

I was using my atrix and put it down went to get something to eat came back 15mins later and it wont turn on! It was at 56% battery! So i plug it in and the green LED turns on but I can't do anything. I have pressed the power button, and I have pressed the power and volume down together both for 10+ secs and nothing is happening please help!
Ever get it back on? My battery drained to 1% last night, so I shut it down, charged it all night, and now mine wont turn on. Has the green light just like yours.

I had to reboot mine in to flash mode in order for mine to come back up. I had to hold the down volume (or up cannot remember right now) + power for a minute nearly. Then it rebooted correctly into normal mode.

So I ended up calling AT&T and they went ahead and shipped me a new MAHD.
I took the dead phone to work and tried charging with my work charger, and now it works! When it finally turned on, the battery level was at 3%. So lesson learned: Do not let your battery drain to 1%!

I am having the same problem. I can get the boot screen up if i hold the buttons in at a certain time while the phone is plugged in and attempting to turn on. however, the phone cuts out no matter what and repeats the cycle even with the boot screen up. during the few seconds i can get the boot screen up, i'm unable to select an option, only scroll up or down and highlight them. then the phone cuts out and 20 secs. later attempts to turn on again but never gets past the motorola icon. Any suggestions? I originally thought it was the battery so i ordered one and installed it correctly and charged it, but still the same thing is happening. When plugged into a pc, charge light comes on but phone won't attempt to turn on....?????????

Our phone doesn't receive power from the cable until it's fully booted. Factory cables are a good work around.

I think it's impossible to fix.

I have also tried every possible button combinations.
and does not start
Has anyone been able to fix it?

[Q] Random Shut Down - now dead

Hey Guys
I installed ARHD 41 a few days ago and everything was working fine. But since yesterday I get some random shut downs when my phone is in my pocket. When I pull it out its dead. No way to get it back on without having a charger around. When I plug it in, a few seconds later the notification light goes on and I can start the phone with the power button.
But just an hour ago it happened while laying on the table and now even the charger way isn't working. No charging light when plugged in, no response on PC or Mac.
Any tips around?

I got it started by holding VOL UP + DOWN, plugged the charger in and then pressing the power button.
Multiple reboots were possible. :good:
But after I pressed the power button to lock the phone, it was dead again
No success with the combination above.
Guess I have to try another ROM when I get it back on somehow

Now its completely dead. nothing work, no LED, no flashing buttons, nothing

Endless boot cycle, don't know if it's power or OS issue

I looked in the previous threads about non-booting but no one I could find had my issue. Bought the Nook HD+ about 4 months ago and rooted it and installed Android (not sure which version but cm11). Out of the blue, last week I pulled it out of my bag and the battery % was flipping between 1% and 31%, so I put some stuff on it via USB and then shut it down to charge. I plugged it in overnight and tried turning it on in the morning. All I was getting was the low battery picture, so I kept trying to charge it, but it wasn't charging, the power light would go to orange when I plugged it in, thena fter 3-5 seconds it would flip green and then turn off and retry. My assumption is the battery is dead, but it could be a corrupted OS now as I got it to charge long enough to get to the CM11 boot menu. But I even went out and bought a new charger and converter to rule that out and it still is stuck in the same boot sequence. I obviously can NOT charge this thing while it is off because of it's reboot loop, it can't charge. I'm not quite sure what is going on or whether it is a battery or boot issue but after I leave it for a big it freezes on the cyan picture (which is frozen on some scrambled version of it) until I turn it off.
I can't power it on enough to charge it to rule out the battery, I tried holding the power and n button for 3 seconds, letting go of the power, and then pressing it again to get into the recovery menu, but that isn't working either. And I prepared another SD card for a second flash for a corrupted OS and that didn't seem to work either.
I'm stuck here and I'm not sure what to do now to get it running again. I don't care about the data on my tablet at the moment.
Try plugging it into a PC USB port over night.

That's what I did that got it charged enough to get to try to boot, where it now shuts down. But now as it tries to boot it reboots, maybe from too much power consumption? I only had it plugged in for half hour or hour before that got it charged to the point where it boots to the logo screen. I have a feeling it is not charging because every reboot the light turns off (orange light stays on for like 5 seconds)
I will plug it in to my PC and charge it overnight and let you know what happens. It's interesting, I plug it in now and the orange charge light comes on, shows the Nook screen, then shows the low battery screen and shuts off, then the orange light turns off, but it remains plugged in... not sure if it is still charging but as I said, I will leave it overnight and see what that gets me.
No success. I can turn it on and the charging lights turns on for 5 seconds and shows the nook screen, then goes black and shows the low battery screen, then immediately shuts off and the charging light turns off and it no longer charges.
Any other suggestions? I can't seem to do anything with the Nook now.

[Q] Strange (hard?) brick

Hi,
After many years of enjoying this magnificent phone the disaster came.
The phone discharged overnight and switched off. In the morning I had to send some texts, so plugged the wall charger into USB socked (a weak one ~500mA), after few moments a charging icon appeared and stated that battery has 1%. Ok, I really had to send those messages: I've pressed the power button and phone started to boot.
Sony logo: OK, purple wave, OK...
After 10-20 seconds it suddenly switched of, red LED started to blink.
I thought: OK, system startup needs a lot of power, maybe a charger is too week to keep up.
So I left phone for few more minutes to charge, but without success.
That was the last time I saw screen was on.
Phone is a C6903, running on a stock, rooted 14.6.A.1.236 with the recent XZRecovery.
Bootloader has been unlocked.
For the moment I've tried everything but opening back and doing the testport-trick.
When I connect the power only red led blinks (I left the phone charging overnight, no change).
When I try to enter flash mode: nothing happens but red blinking light.
When I try to start phone nothing happens at all.
But there is still hope:
I connected the phone to 2A charger using a magnetic cable.
Then I've connected normal USB cable to my PC, strange thing started to happen:
When I pressed volume Up (even after few minutes of connecting power+usb) the phone suddenly jumped to fastboot mode (blue led, it was discovered by PC, fastboot terminal was functional)
When I press power button, phone vibrates for a second, then the led pattern changes to: 1s red followed by 0.1s green, then long red, then it repeats...
I'm still unable to enter any recovery nor flashmode...
I'd really appreciate any help, have you got any ideas left how can I revive my phone?

Hi, this just happened to me, my phone has been dead for over 4 weeks with just the red led blinking. i tried the test point thing with no success at that point I gave up but last week i decided to get a new genuine battery and it worked it booted up. Your battery is just completely dead thats why it won't boot up!

Thanks for the info! I've ordered a replacement battery already.
I'll open my phone today and measure all voltages. I'll keep you updated.
Good luck

Yup! That was it (at least I think so, I don't have new battery yet)
The Al part of positive battery terminal was broken: I have no idea why, maybe because of age, oxidation and high currents that were drained from this LiPo cell...
Anyway I've managed to temporarily join two broken Al parts, kernel and recovery booted successfully.
Now I need to wait for a replacement battery.
Phone is alive again, thanks tilakpatel for help!
But the magnetic cable trick might be useful in other hardbrick cases: just connect magnetic charger, connect normal USB cable to PC and hold volUp. Phone should be able to enter fastboot even with completely drained battery...
