I use gmail for work and I dislike the conversion view because it is hard for me to see the newest email in a thread. Is there a way I can disable it? I can't use the stock email, it does't give me the option to replay with my work email like Gmail does. Thank you in advance and yes I googled this.

Is it just me or has anyone else accidentely hit the huge 'discard' button halfway through writing a mail?!
Is there a better gmail client available? Or at least some way I can get it to confirm if I want to delete the email I've just spent 10 minutes writing?
Thanks!
I know I hate that button too. You can try using the other Email app that comes with android (you can use it with gmail too)
Yeah, would prefer a dedicated gmail client so I can use the labels / archive etc. - or can u do that in the mail client?
Does anyone know if gmail has been improved in Eclair?
Cheers

I have found that the mobile mail client online at mail.google.com works really good.. I keep the gmail app notifications turned on and when I get mail or want to write something iuse the online site. Its just as fast and feature rich as the app...
Anybody knows how to get the GMail client source code?

No, it's proprietary, and not part of AOSP. Mail app is, however...
hello everyone!
this may seem a bit strange but is there a way to remove the native gmail app from android 2.1 (nexus one)? since i use the native exchange email client, i am getting a lot of duplicate emails; really annoying!! i have root access. please help, thanks.
well its not what youre looking for but you can just apply a filter on gmail so it wont show up in your phones inbox. but i also dont think you can remove gmail :\
Or, unsync Gmail.
I would just like to keep it from starting up unless I start it. I dont use it but since there is no way that I have found to get the market to switch over to sending my reciept for paid apps to email accounts I actually use it has to remain accessible.
Is there any way to sign out gmail?
Thanks
Hi - I have the exact same question.
When I on the gmail app and click on 'Account Settings', my NC reboots.
I have 1.1.0 version with Auto Nooter 3
Thanks

What are you looking for, a way to remove your gmail account from your nook?

No I think they want to sign out/sign in on the device.
i.e. if we give our nooks to someone to borrow, don't want them going through our email, just sign out of it, not uninstall gmail.
You probably have to remove the account or you could disable sync if you just don't want to receive mail.

Yeah as far as I can tell, the only way is to remove the account.
Disabling sync wouldn't really work since someone could just go back into settings and re-enable sync.
What I did was to go into settings -> applications ->manage applications, under the All tab go to gmail application and clear data and cache.
Every time you want to access your mail, you'll have to sync/refresh your account.
I have set up several email accounts with its default email system. It's quite sloppy. My device has been rooted and installed lagfix or related things. I am wondering how to improve the response of the email system. Any ideas are welcome, thanks
i dont like the stock email app i think it has issues.. but what i do is i get all my emails forwarded to my Gmail account, which is instant and doesnt slow my phone down. perhaps you could give it a try and see if you notice any difference.
Thanks dude. Was told by a mate to do the same thing...hmm I hope there is an alternative way though, thanks anyway
Hi all fellow HTC One owners,
I absolutely LOVE my HTC One, however there is one thing i am really missing.
I have set up all my emails on the HTC Mail app, Yahoo, Live, etc .
However I am unable to add my Gmail account as an exchange account so that i can get push notifications for it. to my understanding thats down to google being an idiot and removin that feature.
Now, I wanted to know if there is a fix or workaround for that? or do we just have to use the Gmail app?
im sure many others would appreciate some clarification as well.
Thanks
Hi, I just made a quick test and it takes 10 seconds to recieve my gmail message sent from my Blackberry. So I think GMAIL works like a push mail. Do have any issues or lates to think you have problem with your mail ?
