How to disable AT&T check for update - HTC First

I pressed on at&t check for update on option now. It runs for a while and doesn't finish so i press back. But now when i turn on the screen on sometimes it appear that at&t check for update dialog again and I need to press back to stop it. How to change it back?

I had the same issue but it's gone since I rebooted, so not really a big thing I guess...

Problem with Phone App

Well I've had my Tilt for a week now and I have been frustrated completely with the Phone App.
First of all, when I am calling a tone prompted location where you have to press the keys to get somewhere (611, corporate voicemail, etc), some of the time the phone will go into "hold" when i press the keys.
Secondly, after a call that i have pressed the keys for tone operation, the phone app will not completely close. the screen will stay half dim and the start bar and task panes are locked out. i can't access any of the icons at the top of the screen. the only button available is the task manager which shows no programs running.
i can pretty much replicate the 2nd problem consistently. does anyone else have this problem? Please try to call into a company say even 611, go through all the tone prompts and see if the phone app closes appropriately afterwards. make sure you are on the phone long enough for the screen to automatically dim.
the only way for me to get past this is to softboot so i can get access to the start menu again. but i'd rather not have to softboot after every phone call =T
Thanks!
Same problem here, any help would be great.

disable the lock thing where you have to enter a pin - i think its a bug in the rom
Same problem - but if press the on/off button for the screen twice I do have again access to all icons. Not nice but ....
yeah i was messing around with the phone last night and realized that it has to do with phone lock and figured out if you press the power button to put it to sleep and press it again to wake it up, everything is normal again. it was just a fluke how i found out but i'm glad to know that this isn't only my problem. i was about to do another hard reset on the phone.
i called ATT techsupport and they told me it might be the simcard. can other Tilt owners chime in here. is this a ROM problem or could it be related to a faulty sim?

App update just disabled my phone??

I have an AT&T S5 running stock recovery with towelroot. Phone has been fine today, had 4 apps that required additional permissions for updates today so I ran them. I recall 2 were USAA and Tasker. Also FingerSecurity just got an update prior. After I accepted the additional permissions, I turned the screen off. I then heard it make the lock sound 3 times while the screen was off.
Currently I can turn the screen on or off, however the lock screen never comes up, just the home screen. Everything on the screen is unresponsive and the taskbar is gone. I've rebooted, wiped cache in recovery, it comes up the same way, bypassing the lock screen even though I have it secured with fingerprint. On the 3rd or 4th reboot, I did get a dialog saying systemui crashed. It keeps shifting the icons slightly like it's trying to add the taskbar but they shift about 10 times before finally stopping with no taskbar.
When I long press the power button, I have to be quick otherwise the dialog will disappear.
Is there anything I can do besides a factory reset?

[Q] T-mobile OTA update softbrick phone

Hello and thank you for attempting to help me. I have a Nexus 6 from T-mobile. My dentist appointment yesterday brought me clean teeth and a terrible phone problem. While I was there yesterday my phone decided to download the 5.1.1 update OTA. I pressed the okay button and it restarted. On boot up, I get a white window saying it is "optimizing apps x out of 138". It does that every time I boot it up. After that window is finished, I get a black backgrounded lock screen. On the lock screen in the usual place is the time. In the top left it says there is no sim card. In the bottom I get the normal call, unlock, camera buttons. I am able to drag down the top to show the notification information. As far as I know there are no settings changed from the factory Nexus 6 I recieved from T-mobile. Now I have attempted multiple tasks to try to access my phone but all have been in vain. Here is a list of what I have tried.
To unlock the phone normally. The result is a black screen, a little beep, a white window that says Google services have failed. After a second or two the white screen goes away and leaves a empty screen. I am still able to hold the power button to reveal the white power off window and it works. I can also hold down on the volume and the power button to create a screen shot. It even shows the whole minimization of the current screen and fall to the bottom like it would if the phone was working properly.
I tried to swipe the call button and all it does is give me a blank white screen with a blue notification bar at the top. I can once again power off or screen shot but nothing else.
I have not tried to swipe from camera yet.
I can drag down on the top notification bar to show the the notifications, quick setting changes (Wifi, data, airplane modes, brightness) and the setting button to go to the setting menu. I can turn the brightness up and down, and turn all the other things in the quick menu on and off but if I click anything (toogle them or slide the brightness) and put the notifications bar back up I get the black screen with the white google services has crashed window. I can power off and screen shot normally.
If i swipe down on the notification bar and press setting It crashes once again and gives the black screen and white window that says google services has crashed. I can power off and screen shot normally.
I tried holding volume down and the power button then went into recovery mode. Held power then press volume up to get to the next menu and then deleted the cache partition. It has no effect that I have noticed.
As stated above, I do not think I have usb debugging enabled, I assume my boot loader is locked. This phone has not been modded by me.
I do not want to factory reset if I do not have to due to the very important phones and numbers i have.
You didn't make a backup before updating ?

Unless there is a previous setting in place that I clicked to automatically update it when ever there is one available, I do not remember picking to update. It downloaded and asked me to reset. I assumed it was a small patch and not something that could screw up my phone. I could of though. But no I did not.

Well, I'd suggest a factory reset even though you are reluctant. Otherwise, bring it somewhere for repair. But chances are they're going to tell you to factory reset.

Stuck in activation menus

I havent used this phone in a while but, today I turned it on and used it to check for files before i sold it. The phone was just as I had left it, working fine and I got all my files and did a factory reset. It booted up fine and and took me through the normal activation menus. Asking for a wifi connection I hit skip and it just goes back to the beginning of the menus, I connect to wifi and it still goes back to the beginning what ever options i choose it takes me back. I am able to get to the home screen through the lock screen menus but it doesn't work correctly like having no home button. I checked the phone and im on Marshmallow ZVB 1.04. i tried to factory reset again and now i can get all the way through the menus but it still goes back to the beginning and home screen is jacked. Where should i start to fix this?

Noticeable delay after pressing screen lock button. System reset does not help.

This issue has been driving me mad for the past couple weeks. I'm at my wits' end and I need some expert help to figure this out. Please read this post thoroughly to understand my situation, as this is not a simple matter of uninstalling some apps.
When I first got my Note 9, the screen lock button worked perfectly. The screen would immediately turn on when I pressed the button, and it would immediately turn off when I pressed it again. However, once I got the Android Pie update, the screen lock button stopped working properly. The screen still turns on immediately, but there's about a 0.5 second delay after I press the button to turn it off. It's a relatively small issue, but it's enough to bother me.
I attempted to fix this by performing a system reset. But this did not help. In fact, this issue is still present even before completing initial setup of the phone.
When you perform a system reset, the first screen you see when your phone restarts is the welcome screen. It contains a "start" button that you press to begin setup. On this screen, the lock button issue does not happen. My phone locks and unlocks correctly. On the next screen, you connect to a wifi network. After connecting to a wifi network, the lock button issue becomes present. In other words, this issue with the lock button is present before I even start using the OS, or install any apps, or really do anything at all. It seems to be triggered by connecting to a wifi network during setup.
So I figured there must be something wrong with the firmware. So I used Odin to flash an earlier firmware version. This did not solve the issue. I even tried installing an unlocked firmware version, on the offchance that my carrier (AT&T) was doing something weird. This did not help either.
I have no idea where to go from here. I thought that a system reset is supposed to completely wipe everything from your phone, so that it behaves exactly how it did when I first got it. But that's not the case. It seems like something is carrying over that's causing this issue. Does anybody have any idea what I should do?
Do you have lock instantly with power key on?

It is probably the double tap power button to open camera feature. You can toggle it off and locking will be instant.
If its already off, there my be an accessibility service listening key presses.

This delay issue is so silly but it annoys the hell out of me. Where did you turn off this feature in Pie?
Update: Found it. Just use the search box in settings and type in "camera" (or whatever it is in your language). The "double tap power" setting will get listed.
Thanks alot,
Watz
I even turned off the double press for camera app but I'm still noticing a 0.5 sec lag when i press the side key
I even restarted after changing the setting
Nothing is happening
Please help
