[Q] Touchless Control won't work - Moto X Q&A

When I try to use Touchless Control (aka saying "Ok Google Now" when the screen is off), it refuses to do anything.

Try retraining it in a smaller room.

Touchless Control, OK Google Now

I really like my new Moto X but touch less control has been disappointing. I'm batting about 60% on activating Google Now.
Anyone else experiencing this?

Did you "train" the phone to your voice? Or does it even requires it?

I've trained the phone multiple times. Touchless control will not work when the phone is on deep sleep. Works OK otherwise.

Touchless Control is Google Now except it activates automatically after you state "OK Google Now".

Go into the "Assist" app, select "Driving" and make sure 'Resume Music Play" isn't checked off
It works perfectly for me. Just one silly question: how do I get the phone to greet me with my name instead of simple good morning or good afternoon? Where is the setting for the greeting phrase? Thanks!

On Stock. Notification Sound going off every few seconds

Sometimes overlapping tone.
It won't stop.
I can't find a thing running that has notifications turned on.
Any ideas?

That seems to do the trick, but then aren't I missing out on that feature? Say if I'm in the shower?
Kind of sad that's the only place left to get away from the leash... before I retired I bought a lake house that got no pager (remember those? ) or cell service just to get away.

YouTube dimming

Hello, after accepting the ota update to 4.4 when I play a you tube video and I go into landscape mode the picture goes dim and I get a box with a speaker like icon on the bottom left of the box right in the middle of the screen. I was told it is Chrome cast type connection that connects the phones video to the computer. Well my question is, how do I turn it off? I rather like seeing a bright video screen rather than a dimmed out one. Thank you.

Turn off your bluetooth connection. Select the multitasking button long press on the YouTube square and force stop the application. When you log back into the app it should be fine now

Thanks brudda, but still doesn't fix it with the blue tooth connection. Hope Google takes care of this soon. I like my Bluetooth headset.

This has nothing to do with 4.4. I get this when I'm connected to a bluetooth music receiver it's very annoying. I've sent Google several emails about this. Hopefully they fix it soon in the next YouTube update

That's funny it never happened to me on 4.2.2 but then again I never used my bluetooth headset until 4.4 LOL.
This has been fixed with latest update.

Cool, thanks brudda

why can't i start google now on my motox

Every time I use Google now to set a reminder it tells me to start opt in Google Now. And I just cannot start it. What does that mean?
Here are two screenshots showing my problem .

I tapped the blue opt~in option, it took me to the google search. Still cannot set the reminder

Touchless Control question

Every time I use the touchless control, when I say "Okay Google," the phone brings up the location services menu for a spilt second before continuing the search. Is anyone one else experiencing this?

Try reboot?
