BobJ Gear Silicone Cover - Asus Transformer TF701

BobJ Gear makes a fantastic silicone cover for many tablets including my older TF300. They are very thick and rugged while being reasonably priced. Basically it allows every tablet to be eventually designated for "kid duty". The TF300 has been tossed by my kid at least two dozen times and it survived each time thanks to the BobJ Gear. Needless to say, I HIGHLY recommend this case!
ASUS Transformer Prime TF201 (TF201T) and Pad 300 TF300 (TF300T) - BobjGear.com
The case for the TF701 has been downgraded from "We will start designing it" to "On hold" likely due to decreased sales of the tablet because of all the keyboard issues. Now I don't actually need this case yet, I plan to use the tablet for another year or two before passing it to the kids. But when that happens, I want this kid proof cover available! At this point, I don't know of any other silicone case available or even in the works for our TF701, so this may be the only option ever.
BOBj's WORKBENCH - BobjGear.com
So, if anyone else interested, please send an email to [email protected] and tell them to put the case for the TF701 back on their list of designs to release. Thanks!

Just did. Hopefully, they will do it since there are not many "skin" cases out there. I saw the Asus Transformer Pad Infinity TF701T (2013) Carbon Fiber Skin Protector from Skinomi, but not sure that I want a "permanent" solution like that.

Hi Technojo,
No, did not make a case for the TF701T yet. We probably will not make one.
We want to keep everyone up to date on all our projects, so we have created our website page Bobj's Workbench, where you can see all our plans for future cases.
If we don't have what you are looking for there, then we are not working on it, and are not planning it.
We also don't post dates there, until we know when we will have a product available for you. But as soon as we are confident in a date, we post it on Bobj's Workbench for everyone to see.
Please visit Bobj's Workbench, whenever you have a question about our future product plans.

I purchased the skin and screen protector. The carbon fiber has a really nice texture, and the fitting is just about perfect. It's not a complete cover though, you can see some of the original case, and the corner pieces are flimsy and require a hair drier to heat up and stick right(I'm a man) So I just cut them off. I'm not going to put my heat-gun up to a 500$ tablet!
It will protect from minor scratches from rough surfaces I imagine, but my knife cut right through it like butter, so it probably isn't meant to protect from very sharp objects. Still put it in a case though. Screen protector is of good quality though, perfect fit, however finger prints show up very visibly.

Otterbox Defender Case (look-a-like)

I bought this on ebay for my epic touch and thought it would be cool to share with xda, check it out ... It's a Otterbox Note 2 Defender Case (look-a-like)
CHECK IT OUT
it has all the features of the defender case except the Clear protective membrane on touch screen or the Ratcheting belt clip holster...
I drop my phone once from getting out the car and it was on lap, the case protected the phone perfect, no scratch or hard impact...
Just sharing ... its not otterbox but its something cheap and it protects
The quality is equal to otterbox, I had Defender cases on my other devices and this is equivalent... the seller has 4-5 different colors, I got mines in 4-5 days
Does it have the foam on the inside of the hard plastic like the Otterbox?
Sent from my SPH-L900 using xda premium
Ordered, will report when I get it.
It's funny, the look-a-likes for most the big name brands: otterbox, ballistic, seidio all have counterparts that look almost identical to them design wise and perform nearly up to par, but at at most 1/4 of the retail price.
does this case have port covers like the otterbox?
That type of black rubber looks like it will attract dust/lint.
Anyway I'll probably get the white one.
Thanks for the link.

Not necessarily. The ones for my Evo lte and GS3 didn't.

Is this case easy to remove from the phone? Had one on order already just waiting for it to be shipped.
Had this case on my gs3 for 2 days then removed it. Its a bad fit. Holes dont line up. Rubber feels like a cheap dog toy. There is no padding on inner layer so it will scratch your phone. Bulkier then a defender. Its harder to take off then a defender. Just a bad case imo

Thanks for the info. Just ordered one. Nice price....
I've been rocking mine for a week now. Bad fit but I overcame that by adding black velvet tape I had for my home theater screen border. This helps it fit better and helps keep it from scratching my phone. The case still creaks when you handle it but not as badly. It's heavy. But I like it more than I hate it. I love portrait and landscape kickstand modes. Lint magnet, yes. But nothing I can't blow off by blowing hard with my mouth, as filthy as that sounds.
---------- Post added at 08:02 AM ---------- Previous post was at 07:55 AM ----------
The buttons originally lined up perfectly and we're extremely easy to press, which is a good thing. But since I added my velvet spacer, sometimes I have to fight to press the side buttons accurately. In the end, I'm loving this case still. And no, mine came with no plus for the ports. Not sure if it was supposed to but thought it was.

No foam inside
I think the best part is it has all the features of the defender case except the "Clear protective membrane" on touch screen ... I think since were using a stylus ... a screen protector will be better then the loose "Clear protective membrane"

It's not like it's permanently attached to the otterbox...you can pull it out if you wanted to. Done it many times. And the s-pen works fine through screen protectors. It's not your typical stylus. I will continue to wait for the real thing personally.
And it doesn't have all the features...no port covers and no holster.

Case-Mate Pop! Case Pics/Review

Made another review for the Case-Mate Pop! case I just got. Really liking it. Put the review up on the team site for room for Pics, Lots of em.

I just got the UAG case for my note 2, don't like it very much, I much preferred the casemate pop case for my S2, I will get the casemate pop for the note 2 now.
The Pop case was the first case I got for my Note 2, and while I loved it in concept, the kickstand is very poorly designed and failed after about 2 weeks. I wish I could find a ultra thin case with a built in kickstand that is more sturdy.
---------- Post added at 08:37 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:34 AM ----------
Also, forgot to mention that I had to trim the case to slightly widen the opening for the usb port because my OEM plug wouldn't fit.

While I wish the kickstand was a little sturdier (as I mention in the review) I like the balance they found with keeping it slim, I used it heavily for a few days and wouldnt see myself breaking it, but you never know. Ive gotten other cases with kick stands and it really adds to the bulk of the phone. This I see is there when I need it. Actually sent out the case to another team member to Test out. Will see what he thinks soon too
It is easy to take the case out to change the battery?

Not as easy as the Tough Case, which is very easy. The Pop, like most Tpu style cases, just requires getting use to where to push/pull the corner to get the case off
Out of the four cases that I own, this is the case I use the most. I really like the design and feel of the case. The case of pretty sturdy too. My GN2 fell out of my pocket getting out of my car. It fell from about three feet to asphalt and the only damage was a small nick to the case. I just wish there were more color options.

I want to know if the Audio Technica M50's jack will be able to fit through this case?

I sent the case to a team member, so unfortunately I don't have it on me to measure. I have a feeling its probably the same as the Tough Case opening, which I do have listed in the pics section of that review. Don't remember off hand, will look
Edit: 3/8 of an inch. That's what the Tough is. I'd guess its similar

Rear protection without a case?

I saw at Otterbox they have a film/protection for the back of these phones available.. I HATE to put this gorgeous beast in a case .. plus they all add bulk... Would these rear "screen" like protectors benefit? I have a case but everyone always asks what phone I have..

If you are not opposed to skins there are pretty good ones. I like ArmorSuit MilitaryShield, it is completely transparent and a little springy and grippy. Skinomi and a few other companies make some with patterns.
I would suggest you to try out the Spigen Ultra hybrid series. Trust me, it adds a very slight layer to the sides but provides ultimate protection.
And the design looks classy on the black version, I have been using it and I like my phone better with that thing on rather than the naked phone.

I always wanted to know, do these skins actually provide any kind of protection? Or will break the phone apart if it drops and are made just for the design aspect?

I'm using the skin with an aluminum bumper so it is mainly for scratch protection as drop protection is going to be mainly coming from the bumper. But the front skin is pretty thick and adds a little cushion to the screen itself. I cannot imagine it helps on a major face first drop onto concrete but I bet it will help with keeping the screen from being scratched up during a face first drop onto a softer surface like linoleum or from a sliding impact.
I also have the spigen, that was the first case I ordered and with the completely transparent back it is not invasive and looks very nice. I have the gold S6 and got the gunmetal spigen which kind of tones down the goldness which is good sometimes for me.

Need a phone Note 8 case to suit my needs - advice welcomed!

Hi all,
I currently use my Note 4 to watch a lot of Netflix, YouTube etc. and have a case that can act as a stand. With limited use of my hands I also use the case as a handle I can grip to hold up in situations like when I'm in a car.
I am currently using an ACEABOVE Slim Leather Protective Stand Case.
I am considering switching to a Note 8 and a case that meets the needs mentioned above a must for me and I wanted some advice.
The Snakehive Genuine Leather Wallet with Viewing Stand seems like a good idea, but I'm concerned that over time the part that holds the magnet would drop over the screen obscuring vision - is this likely?
The Terrapin Low Profile PU Leather Wallet is another (considerably cheaper) case that may do the trick.
Are there any better cases out there that would suit my needs?
Thanks in advance!
Niall

I thought about a kickstand, but it wouldn't provide me with the grip I need.
I ordered the Terrapin so I'll see how that goes.
Me too - bought the N8 last week and from the reads so far the Patchworks have done a good job. Still unsure about the tempered glass. I cannot convince myself to put 50 odd bucks (and the mess associated with it) for the Whitestone though.

Hey, I've been using my Poco for more than 3 months now and it's buck ass naked save for a screen protector (only because it ain't a gorilla graded display). I think you wouldn't need a case as it's high grade plastic and even on the off chance you drop it, there won't be much damage to the body (can't say the same for the display though ?). If you feel the phone might slip out of your hands and drop then I'd suggest slapping on some slick decals that would make your phone look cool as well as provide sufficient grip.
You can check out these 2 websites:
1. dbrand.com - they're the ones who started the decal game and still have it going strong. You can choose what kind of decal, colour and what part of the phone you want under the decal. They have some pretty sweet designs.
2. slickwraps.com - these guys came late in the game, but man oh man they're just amazing, you can go so far as to customise your skin with a personal photo and not just that, you can get your personalised skin in a glossy or matte finish! How cool is that!
As far screen protectors are concerned I wouldn't recommend using tempered glass protectors because they hamper the touch functionality. You can look for hydrogel protector and they're pretty neat if you ask me.
I hope that helps, cheers!!!

Karapaver wasn't any better, for me, than the spigen for protection, didn't look as nice, and offered no more protection for the front. The corner protrusions limit its car mounting options. I couldn't get this or the Ringke to sit properly in my brodit car mount. I either had to tighten the mount for the sides which made the case/phone difficult to remove or I tightened the mount for the corners and had the case rattle around cause it wasn't being secured properly in the mount.
Mileage may vary with other mounting options.

I'm sure that overseas shipping may be a limiting factor here. Unless these companies have UK distributors?
