Hi I have an ATT Moto X we just got updated to 4.4 from att - Our other phone is an LG Optimus Pro - both are att branded. The LOGP consistently gets much better LTE speeds than the Moto X? Sitting at home, my LOGP gets 16.9 Mbps down and 9.6 Mbps up where as the Moto X is getting 9 down and 4 up?? Literally right next to each other. ???? any ideas?

could depend on a lot of things. the apps you have installed, if you're rooted or running custom ROM, different radio. has it only been happening since the update?
Also what have you tried to do to fix it? i can make a whole big list but you should always say what you tried first.

I had the One, and while I didn't have any issues with reception per se, I can tell you that the Moto X is hands down the most bulletproof phone I've owned in the reception department.
There's no real contest between HTC & Motorola radios (I have both) -- Motorola wins every time.

Agreed, I have both and the X beats it easily.
My Moto X loses LTE a lot more than my GPe One.
I have had every Android phone to date and can safely say this Moto X and other Motorola phones have always had the best reception / RF quality

thanks guys, i made the switch from htc one to moto maxx. and this phone is great. it has not left 4g since i got it 2 days ago. simply awesome and the huge battery is a bonus
Verizon one is terrible.. I have a network extender and it had a heck of a time changing between the terrible signal in my area and the extender. X is great... Best signal I've had yet.
My Moto X is the only phone that gets LTE where I work. Better reception then S3, N4. But best reception I've ever had was on my s2 I9100 (non LTE). That's the only phone that ever got signal on the subway in Toronto. I've had full phone conversations on the subway.

I had the One X & Atrix HD @ the same time. My Atrix HD always got the best reception whereas the One X struggle to pull the signal. I imagine its the same if not better with the Moto X.
We were out of town recently. My wife's Moto X had a signal strength of 23 ASUs. My HTC One X was 5 and I had only 4G whereas she had LTE.

I had a Nexus 4 before getting my Moto X(XT1053) and the reception is noticeably better and the internet is more reliable when it's on LTE vs HSPA+. I'm on AT&T's GoPhone plan with my unlocked Moto X., and I live in an area with marginal coverage for most carriers. Anyway my Moto X and my Mom's Moto G LTE get great signal most of the time; I can't comment on the HTC One as I don't know of anyone who has one.
Hey guys! After doing a little research, I bought Verizon Moto X to use because I read that it's unlocked. I got it new from craigslist for a decent deal. I'm coming from a nexus 5.. I liked it but the feel of the moto x is just amazing. Plus I was always jealous of the active display and always on features.
Anyway, here's the issue.. The phone works brilliantly until 4G comes on. When that happens, data works great, and is blazing fast as usual, but I cannot make calls or send texts. I can receive calls and texts just fine, just can't make them. On everything below 4G there are no issues.
Apparently, since 4.4, you can no longer make new APNs. You can try, but it won't actually save them. For now, I am using an app that accesses the hidden menu to limit the phone to HSPA.
Is there anything I can do or am I better off selling it? Verizon are such ****s.. I don't think I will ever again touch their devices or services again.
Why would u buy Verizon moto for T-Mobile?
T-Mobile moto is unlocked and it supports LTE

It's supposed to be unlocked, it was in the colors that I wanted and it was a great deal. There were T-Mobile ones for sale, but quite a bit more expensive.
I'm pretty sure there was a Verizon Unlocked Moto X and a general unlocked Moto X because Verizon uses different antennas then companies like T-Mobile. Therefore using an unlocked Verizon Moto X WON'T work on T-Mobile or other carriers like Sprint

When you say 4G do you mean LTE or HSPA+?. The Verizon model does not support T-Mobile LTE. HSPA+ should work
The Verizon model doesn't support UMTS/WCDMA on the main band Tmobile uses which is 1700 Mhz/AWS. So it is likely getting confused when trying to switch between bands to make calls.
At the end of the day it was the wrong phone to buy for your needs.

Hi,
I notice that while using Verizon Moto X on ATT network, the battery status view shows mobile network signal as "yellow" most of the time. The mobile network is set to "global" or "gsm" to make the ATT sim work.
With similar software setup, I see longer battery life on ATT Moto X on ATT network with LTE, compared to Verizon Moto X on ATT network with HSPA.
Is this expected ? Anything doable to improve battery life of Verizon Moto X on ATT network ?
Thanks.
Yup, sell the VZW Moto X and buy an ATT or TMo version. Why do you think the version specific to the carrier gets better battery life than one which only works somewhat?

I thought the Verizon Moto X should have similar battery life with ATT, even when used on ATT network. If anybody has experience to verify/deny this, please kindly let me know (so I can check whether it is my software setting being the culpit).
Thanks.
I would be curious if this could be improved with tweaking the software (e.g.,APN settings). I expected there may be problems using the Verizon model on T-Mobile because (until refarmed) the T-Mobile bands are a little unusual (like 1900MHz for HSPA). Thought that at&t used pretty standard GSM bands, though, and would be compatible with the radio in the Verizon model. Hopefully someone with good knowledge in this can comment to clarify.

I acquired a Verizon Moto X and I popped a ATT sim in it, phone and text works fine. Every time I enter an APN, it disappears when I hit save, I think maybe the phone has to be rooted in order to save/modify APN. Anyone know any other way?
Hi all,
I updated to 4.4.2 last night on my unlocked dev edition VZW Moto X. I am in San Francisco's Financial District, prior to the 4.4.2 update I was getting 20mbps down while indoors and 60mbps while outdoors on LTE. Ever since updating, my LTE speeds have been terrible: under 1mbps down and up. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

I have the same issue; I thought it was because I installed Xposed framework (it didn't take couldn't use the modules; GEL settings) so I uninstalled and flashed back back to 4.4 to get a clean image. Got the 4.4.2 update again and I was still having radio issue or slow speeds. But when I cleared the cache data in storage; that worked but for a bit, but it slowed down again but clearing seems to work when it was slow.
I think VZW is throttling bandwidth, maybe?? But with the FCC Speed test app before 4.4.2 update download 22Mbps vs. after 8Mbps in Washington DC metro area
Check that; tried it twice and getting 6Mbps and 5Mbps
Does anybody know why my data on the nexus 6 is so slow only time it's decent is in the early morning hours like 2am 3am etc but I know you're gonna say well maybe the network is congested no every other phone I have gets decent speeds all day even my sons Alcatel one touch which is a hspa phone my hspa speeds are faster on my nexus than LTE, my Z3, unlocked droid maxx and lg g2 all get almost 30mbs down and bout 15up while my nexus maxes out at like 2mbs down and 8mb up. I'm on 5.1 stock unrooted
A pic of my speed test results

Do you have the Unlimited LTE Data plan?
I've had this as well. I'm on T-Mobile in Phoenix Arizona. When I'm out and about, I'll run speed tests and range anything from .50 Mbps to 4mbps download speeds on LTE. Well, that's assuming I can even connect to data. Usually just get the ! instead.
Yes I have unlimited LTE
I'm on unlimited. When I sideloaded the 5.0.1 D OTA update my phone was fast. When I switched to the 5.1 M update it slowed to down a lot. I flashed 5.1.1 T-Mobile update and it's still slow. It doesn't matter the time of day or server. It's just slow. Right now I'm on 5.1.1 unrooted. I'm thinking about flashing the 95R radio from the 5.0.1 update and see what happens.
Edit: My 3G is faster than my LTE. My Nexus 5 is fast.

My APN is the fast.T-Mobile.com APN that came with the phone I deleted all the other apns
im having a weird data issue too. connectivity on lte and wifi or both erratic after updating to 5.1.1 last night. going to wipe it this am and see if that fixes it.
Same here.
Since moving from my Note 3 (16 to 20 Mbps down) to my beloved Nexus 6 I am getting horrible speeds. This morning a little more than 1 Mbps. I put in a repeater to see if that would help speeds, but no. I was just assuming that I was on an oversold tower. I AM on the unlimited plan. I have also been wondering if I am throttled. I go to my father in laws house and I have gotten 50Mbps down on this Nexus. I would like to add that I don't think it is the phone. I used an adapter and put my nano Sim back in my Note 3 and got the identical results. So it leads me to look at my service being cut or my tower oversold.
Something is wrong with my APN I use the stock APN that comes on the phone it's slow but there is also an APN for metro PCs if I use that one it's get like 10mb down and up maybe I need the stock T-Mobile apn
