I'm on 5.1 stock unrooted

Do you have the Unlimited LTE Data plan?

I've had this as well. I'm on T-Mobile in Phoenix Arizona. When I'm out and about, I'll run speed tests and range anything from .50 Mbps to 4mbps download speeds on LTE. Well, that's assuming I can even connect to data. Usually just get the ! instead.

Yes I have unlimited LTE

I'm on unlimited. When I sideloaded the 5.0.1 D OTA update my phone was fast. When I switched to the 5.1 M update it slowed to down a lot. I flashed 5.1.1 T-Mobile update and it's still slow. It doesn't matter the time of day or server. It's just slow. Right now I'm on 5.1.1 unrooted. I'm thinking about flashing the 95R radio from the 5.0.1 update and see what happens.
Edit: My 3G is faster than my LTE. My Nexus 5 is fast.

My APN is the fast.T-Mobile.com APN that came with the phone I deleted all the other apns

im having a weird data issue too. connectivity on lte and wifi or both erratic after updating to 5.1.1 last night. going to wipe it this am and see if that fixes it.

Same here.
Since moving from my Note 3 (16 to 20 Mbps down) to my beloved Nexus 6 I am getting horrible speeds. This morning a little more than 1 Mbps. I put in a repeater to see if that would help speeds, but no. I was just assuming that I was on an oversold tower. I AM on the unlimited plan. I have also been wondering if I am throttled. I go to my father in laws house and I have gotten 50Mbps down on this Nexus. I would like to add that I don't think it is the phone. I used an adapter and put my nano Sim back in my Note 3 and got the identical results. So it leads me to look at my service being cut or my tower oversold.

Something is wrong with my APN I use the stock APN that comes on the phone it's slow but there is also an APN for metro PCs if I use that one it's get like 10mb down and up maybe I need the stock T-Mobile apn

[Q] Rooted 2nd Device - Terrible LTE Speeds

I sent my first device in. It was suffering from LTE problems (essentially it would never connect to LTE, and 3g was unusable as well). It's been replaced. The new device seems to be fine. Getting LTE everywhere, when i'm on spark I get up to 25mbps down - great! So I decided to unlock/root the new device. Went through the process, no problems. Now I'm getting terrible LTE speeds. Not more than 60 min ago in the same spot, i was getting 25mbps on LTE, now i'm getting 3mbps after unlocking/root. Any ideas what went wrong?

Test it at the same time tomorrow. Speeds are all over the map.
Internet has peak traffic during prime time TV hours.

[Q] Terrible signal and speeds on Cricket

So I'm in a major metropolitan area and have been using Cricket for quite some time (since they were AIO).
I've had a few phones over the year and they all got pretty decent reception and good speeds of 4-8mbps.
My z3c regularly has very poor LTE reception and my data speeds are typically around 0.5mbps or less with the US firmware. I tried switching to the latest UK firmware and managed to get 1.2mbps down at one point but still am mostly getting around 0.5mbps or less.
I'm using the APN settings on Cricket's site...so, any ideas? This is a major bummer cause I'm just making it through a day with less than 2 hours of screen on time.
Edit: A few more details. 100 or above dbm when on LTE. I tried toggling it off and get around 70dbm on 3G. Also, 3G speeds are almost that of LTE, which isn't hard given how incredibly slow the LTE it being.
Edit2: For anyone who has this issue, I was on the US firmware when I get the phone (from someone who bought it from the UK). Flashed UK firmware and it didn't help. Last night I flashed back to the US and it's working normally. Go figure!

Nk4 signal vs NJ7

Has anyone noticed that with nk4 their signal is not as good as it is with nj7? I dont know if its coincidence or its actually happening. Anyone?
Working fine for me
BAD ASS NOTE 4 & BAD ASS GEAR S
might just be my area. In my development the service is not good. Once I leave my area its fine lol.
Signal here in Colorado sucks period. At least on my commute areas it does. Especially at home.
"come soft & fragile, get stomped and trample"
I have full bars with mine and I get lte with it but I did notice a download decrease it take for ever to load a page and I'm on the unlimited high speed plan
Same here
I Instantly notice a change in LTE speeds after updating from NJ7 to NK4. While at work with NJ7 I would get any where from 6-12 Mbps . Now with NK4 I get less then 1 Mbps with Full 5 Bars of LTE!. Its a huge difference and its driving me nuts. I tried re flashing NK4 base band and modem in case i had a bad flash but still the same. Any suggestions?
I was getting ready to start a new thread when I saw this. My lte speeds or horrid. I have used lte discovery and network info apps to confirm that I am on lte but i am getting an average of .63Mbps download and 4.2Mbps upload. The other phones in the house are getting 7-10Mbps download so I know I am not in a bad area. I would love to know how to get my speeds back again!

Since you haven't mentioned whether or not you are referring to mobile data or other communication, let me say that since I've upgraded to NK4, my WiFi, data speeds as well as BT signal reliability seem to have taken a dive.

You haven't specified your baseband.
Do you know if its possible to downgrade back to NJ7 Baseband?
It is possible.

whats horrible with 23mbps?? doesnt matter if you upload speeds are faster, 23mbps download speeds are very FAR from horrible.
what are you using to test your speeds. I use Speed Test. I get 30.31 mbps down and 24.51 mbps up in Eagan MN. This on the new M build with the 95R radio. You may want to try a different server if you are using Speed Test. Other wise it could be a problem in your area.
Perhaps LTE is loaded.....but wow complaining about 23mbps haha

Well, on Tmobile in pdx area, I got 60+ Mbps on 5.0.1, but *only* 23 Mbps on the 5.1...D build, but going to the proper 5.1...M build I am back in the 60 Mbps range, so I would say that 1/3 speed is terrible.

Without speed test no one would tell the difference lol
M is meant for tmo so of course its optimized for tmobile networks.
While on D I did not speed test so I didn't notice any speed difference.
Maybe I'm not going crazy! I'm having the same issue in Louisville, KY. Before 6 in the morning, I can manage close to 10Mbps, which is fine. After 6 in the morning, I'm lucky to get 2Mbps, often below 1Mbps. It's bad enough that I can't even stream music on Google Play when I go jogging. And, this is in a populated area in the interior of Louisville.
I'm on the 5.1 radio, but I've been having problems all month long even on my 5.0.2 radio.
Like you, my network actually runs faster in 3G than it does in LTE. I'm considering switching over the StraightTalk next month if the problem persists since I'm only getting 3g speeds at best anyways.
By the way, I'm on a Nexus 5, not the 6. So, it's not phone dependent. I just happened to stumble across your post while researching.

[Q] VZW Data Throttle

Hello All,
I'm on new build stock LMY48M (rooted), and notice that my LTE is slowed down. I'm on unlimited data and my plan just started a new month. Over the last few days I notice my system slowing down, and now my network speeds are way down. I'm down to 12 mbps down and 6 mbps up on the high end, on the low end 6 mbps down and 8 up. When I switched to wif my phone stopped have issues, and my speed test showed 26 down and 5 up. This makes me think VZW is throttling me. If they are, is there any way to get around it?
Thanks,
collegencmc

Not sure. I'm on Verizon ULD. Houston is saturated. Running 24 down and 2 up. Actually surprised me. I'm still stock Z before stagefright. Only get band 13. Have never seen AWS.
Verizon doesn't throttle
