Hi guys, I was hoping maybe one if you had dealt with this before.
I can't add widgets to my homescreen (Aviate, KitKat+). Clicking the add widget button simply results in com.settings.android crashing.
Widgets however work fine on the stock TW Launcher and Nova Launcher, since both use their own built-in widget lists instead of the built in one.
I was thinking maybe deleting cache would be the way to go, but I want to try to avoid setting up all of my apps again. Can I delete just setting's cache? Would that work in the first place? Is there anything else I can try?
Thanks guys.
Deleting the cache of an app won't delete any of its settings, so you're good to go.
Only your wallpaper might be reset when you clear the launcher's cache.

Hi guys
I know this topic area has been posted before, but I wondered whether there was a way to sort the apps alphabetically now specifically that FroYo has been released?
I tried looking at one method, but I couldn't find what they were suggesting under settings.
in the list-mode it's alpabetical though.
I know. But I don't like it. I like Grid View. I know it's picky but it'd be a really simple thing for Samsung to do... :/
Search in market for TouchWiz Application Sorter.
It requires rooted phone and stock TouchWiz 3.0.
Hope I'm not hijacking here, but is there any launcher except Touchwhiz that has a list display? I'd actually prefer a pure text list display with no icons, but that's unlikely I'd guess.
There is a modified version of touchwiz for froyo in either the Apps or development forums that does that and s also supports landscape mode. Works great

Hi
because of the Touchwiz 3.0 issue with not sorting alphabetically in grid view (crazy development by the way) i switched to GO Launcher EX which is much much better. It has many more features and is still quite small.
Cheers
Alex
I know this topic is rather old, but there is a solution.. although a dumb one.
1. Go into settings.
2. Go into Applications
3. Select all applications
4. Go down to TWLauncher or something to that effect.
5. Clear Data
Back out of everything... you'll notice TouchWiz is not working anymore. Press the home button and wait a bit or restart your device.
Everything now sorted properly.
**NOTE: I've had my home screens reset too, although this doesn't happen all the time.. If you decide to use this method, be prepared to add stuff to your home screen again (widgets, modified 4 buttons at the bottom, etc)**
"appzorter" downloadable from the market for free works fine to sort the apps alphabetically in the app drawer on touchwiz UI

Thank you very much. This is exactly what I was looking for.
Best app for sorting apps: appzorter. Download it from the Android market. It's free.

Hi!
It's the first time that I'm writing in the Galaxy S section, so sorry if this problem is well-known or the question is stupid. A search didn't reveal anything useful...
A friend of mine has the I-9001 with latest value pack (XXKQG) and she wants to change the order of her apps in the stock launcher, but whenever she customizes the order and saves it, the sorting eventually changes back to alphabetical after some time or after a reboot. Does someone experience similar problems? Is there any fix besides using other launchers?
Cheers

nope, I can only think of using of another launcher or if you want the TW launcher then you may try the modded TW launcher from here. if some one has done it for S+.
It doesn't look like anyone else has mentioned this, so maybe it's just my OCD
Whenever I'm on the homescreen and I go into the app drawer, my wallpaper turns black as the app drawer opens. Has anyone else noticed this? Thanks!
I believe stock launcher functions this way. Black background on app drawer.

I was talking about the homescreen wallpaper. It turns black just before the drawer finishes opening (with both still and live wallpapers). I'll look through the build.prop for anything interesting, but I am doubtful
Aaaaand It looks like I've found a solution.
1) Install Nova launcher, set as default
2) Clear stock launcher's data
3) Uninstall stock launcher with TiBu
4) Okay, here goes I copied Launcher2.apk from my Gnex (running Shiny 4.2.2 ROM) to /system/app, set permissions, and then installed it. Shocking, I know.
5) Uninstall Nova if you want.
5) Enjoy a slightly faster, bug-free launcher with all of the stock JB wallpapers!
Unfortunately, I'm too new to post files, links, etc.
Hi All, this might be a dumb question but: If I install Nova, do I have to delete everything that came stock on the Sony launcher, like Movies, PlanyStation etc...all of the icons, widgets, etc... or do I leave them and just start new with Nova? Does that make sense? I just dont want to switch to Nova and all these widgets, icons etc from Sony still 'running' somewhere in the background. Thanks!

hahaaha a second me!
I was wondering the same thing, just for the sake of it I always remove all the icons that are on the stock launcher. Because if you think of it, it's not as if you turn the other launcher off, you're just using another one. And the difference probably won't be amazing, but it could count towards a better battery life lol. Or maybe we're just paranoid :silly::silly::good:
Thanks, ill do the same and remove them off Sony...no reason to have them out there
You don't have to remove anything from stock launcher. It won't run in the background. You can setup how many different launchers you want and switch between without that effecting battery.
Launchers like Nova don't mess with apps at all. They simply create a new skin -- a new way of seeing and accessing what's already on the phone. All the same Sony apps will still be there in the app drawer and they'll behave in exactly the same way as they would if you were using the Xperia Launcher or any other launcher (although Nova might change some of the icons for system apps like dialer, messaging, settings etc.). And if you uninstall apps through Nova they're uninstalled from the phone, period. So they will not be there even if you revert back to the Xperia Launcher.

Great info, ty!
Hello all.
I installed some icon packs from Galaxy store, didn't really like them and I want to use the stock icon pack. There is no obvious way of restoring them. I tried clearing cache and data from Home UI app. Deleting all other icon packs.
I know I can install some 3rd party launcher and get them that way, but there has to be a way to restore to original?
Obvious step would be to factory reset, but that seems little bit too much.
Any advice?
Many thanks.
Edit:
eeeeeerrrrrr..........After looking for 2 days...Just I wrote here I found that if I pull down on home screen on Galaxy store, I can see all installed icon pack and as well the stock one....
Hope this helps someone...
