Hey, did anyone have any luck with taking photospheres? I am able to view them with no problems, but as soon as I open Camera app from the Gallery.apk (I tried few different version) it always seem to crash when switching camera mode to photosphere or panorama. Any luck?
Anyone? Taking photospheres from wrist would be pretty cool.. and I think Gear has all the sensors necesarry. Photosphere viewing works just fine, also with looking around without touching the screen.

Yesterday I rooted my phone and after a day of use everything seems normal except that I've just noticed that I've only got two modes in the camera app. Where there were previously several options in the camera mode selections (the square icon with four circles) screen including Zoe and Video, now I only have two Camera and Selfie.
Also, when I take a picture the app crashes immediately after taking a picture. The little icon with the last picture taken that takes you to your photos is also missing. The google camera app works perfectly as far as I have tested, but I really like the zoe camera.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix it?
Fix it, somehow
I haven't extensively tested this, but in case someone else makes their way to this thread with a similar problem I have found a solution.
I installed the apk of the HTC Camera app. Someone in the Verizon M8 forum posted it here:

I noticed a dramatic difference between the Google Camera and the 3rd party Camera Zoom FX application. The Google Camera brings in a good amount of light into the lens even in marginal situations. Camera Zoom FX is pulls in so much less light. There's no setting I can figure out. Could Lollypop restrict camera access in some funky way that is preventing the 3rd party app from taking full advantage of the lens?
i have noticed this in pretty much all 3rd party camera apps. people have reported that video conferencing in hangouts is also very dark
i have spent all day looking at different camera apps. i cant get "a better camera" to auto focus (but it has better in app lighting), camera zoom fx is much darker than "a better camera" but has good focus. the google camera app from banks gapps seems really gimped (no panorama, no 360, no hdr) and wont let me install the play store google camera (i got 504 errors with banks installed, and 505 when i moved thew camera2 folder from system/apps).
i am now looking into flashing a moto camera app, or trying to flash a closer to stock google camera app (preferably one that doesnt share signitures)

Check out Camera FV-5. They have a paid version and a lite (free). I spent the $3.99 and it works really well. It also has a lot of controls.

you can get good photos if you remove from recents, but the viewfinder is always dark. see attached. pure shamu b3.1/senseiR20.5, rooted.
i can almost get the moto camera app to work... it takes 1080p soundless video consistently, but photos crash the app, and hdr doesnt work

Alright, so I tried to take some pictures in a room with no lights on and only some natural light coming through the blinds. They look dark like your sample photos. Opened the slimGAPPS camera and everything works, including HDR, correct brightness, etc. I haven't tried recording video. As soon as I turn a light on, it seems to work normally.
In the camera fv5 app, I went and adjusted some of the exposure settings and shutter, the photo brightened right up.
Not sure what is going on. I will try a few more things and report back.

It's funny, it doesn't look like the photos themselves are too bad, just the display on the preview on the screen (i.e., the screen viewfinder). I am wondering if there is some Lollypop function that is not being taken advantage of fully by the 3rd party apps.
For a while now, I haven't been able to zoom in/out properly using camera apps that I've found on the app store (particularly Z Camera and Camera360). The problem is that when these camera apps are open, the image you see does not zoom. So if I pinched zoomed (or even used the volume keys to zoom), the live view you see does not zoom. However, once you actually take a picture, then the zoom actually shows up. Here's an example to hopefully clarify the problem:
Using the Camera360 app, I pinch zoom to 8x but don't take the picture yet. The live picture view on my screen stays at 1x even though I zoomed to 8x. Then, I take the picture and when I view/open it, the image is truly zoomed in to 8x.
As you can probably guess, this issue is a bit frustrating since you can't really tell how much you've zoomed in/out until after you take the picture. The strange thing is that the stock camera app works perfectly (no zoom problems).
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 Active-i537. This problem existed when I had UCUAMF3 (4.2.2) as my firmware. I've done a factory reset, and that didn't solve the issue. I just installed UCUCNE3 (4.4.2) in hopes of fixing the problem, but that also hasn't helped.
Any ideas as to what's causing this issue and how to fix it?
I have a new motor x4 and while using the camera app cannot find the photosphere option anywhere. This is a Google phone so I cannot understand why such an important option is missing. Maybe I just don't know how to find it?

have you checked panorama mode? My Fi X4 has it.
It's missing in the default camera app but you can still make photoshperes with the Google Streetview App.

It's not a Google phone, nor is the camera app included from Google. You could port the modded GCam over to your device for better image and video quality, but I don't know what to tell you of the lack of a photosphere. If you mean the "tap anywhere to capture" feature, then that can be disabled in the camera's settings.
I also miss the photosphere function. Or, on other words, I do miss the official support from Google to Port the Google camera app to more devices.
Latest GCam has been modded to work with other devices under Android Nougat.
I am using that to make photosphere, but I can not import photospheres to G. cardboard viewer.
Moto X4 has a version of photosphere, more like a photocylnder
I just activated my Android One X4 last night, switch from Moto X2 and discovered this morning no obvious photosphere. very sad.
Turns out the Moto camera app (which updated last night) used panorama mode to replicate official sphere. If you take panorama with wide angle it captures a full 360 degrees. These images are then available for cardboard and other sphere viewing modes.
Sadly, or I haven't tried enough, it does not do up and down. Image is blurred above and below, which is a bit disappointing, but understandable.
My photosphere from Machu Picchu would have been lacking without seeing down into valleys below and beautiful sky above. My sphere of last year's eclipse from a cliff overlooking a lake in Wyoming would have been dull without eclipse in sky and terrain/lake below.
But I can guess 90% of spheres have sidewalk/grass below and sun glare above so ...
I could just explore app more and see if it can do it with some settings tweek.
I've tried a whole bunch of camera apps and so far the stock app is the only one that seems to be able to access 60fps recording. Every camera2 probe app I've tried reports 30fps as the max reported speed the device can use which makes me think Oppo have locked out any other apps from accessing it.
Another possibility I'm wondering is if it's not actually true 60fps at all - and it's actually using frame interpolation at 30fps to create the 60fps - although it does seem more natural playing back the recordings and doesn't seem to have the slightly "unreal" look that interpolation usually gives.
There also seems to be no way to select any other camera besides one of the main cameras on the back and the selfie camera on the front when using 3rd party apps.
It just seems a bit of a f-you to have them tout the camera setup as a main selling point of the device while at the same time locking out other apps from using basic recording features like 60fps and making no mention of it. 3rd party apps also exist to provide additional tweaks and features that the stock one lacks and I was disappointed to find Filmic Pro and Open Camera can't access 60fps and has trouble with the shutter speed to stop the zebra stripes/banding in some lighting scenarios.
Have you tried porting Google camera? I just downloaded a modded port and can record at 4k 60fps. Looks Pretty good also.

Hey any chance of a link to the one you are using?
I have tried a few different apks and the only one that would actually install (or open) is the Camera PX v.8.1.008.341125824.
It suffers from zebra striping indoors and outdoors, pressing on "slo-mo" force closes the app, captures of both pics and video are fairly noisy or grainy, 4k mode force closes as soon as I switch the option and it doesn't have an option I can see to choose framerate.
Definitely would like to try a fully working one.

I used this one, although a bit of searching around and I found a couple of others I will try as well.
Greatness GCam APKs - Google Camera Port
Modified Google Camera app By Greatness.

Here you can enable bottons for the different lenses. Be aware to use the alternative fix as the app crashes otherwise.
I didn't figure out how to use the stream configs though

No, unfortunately not. Only 1x and 2x. But the rest works normal.
