Is anyone having issues with the SDcard becoming corrupt?
I'm running xbian with a couple other light projects running in the background. This is the original model B.
It's set up with the SDcard as only the boot partition, and everything else is on an external 128G USB hard drive. It will run for quite a while (from a couple weeks to a month), then I'll start seeing some slowing down, occasionally taking forever for ssh to connect. I'll sync then reboot. It starts to load and the last thing that pops up is loading initrd, then reboots. The card is unreadable with Windows, but an fsck done on it in linux shows no errors. If I re-format the card, then windows will see it. I then reload the boot partition, put the card back in and it boots and runs fine. I have used 3 different cards. Kodak 8g class 10, sandisk 8g class 4, and a memorex 1g class 4.
Pi is not overclocked, and my power supply for the pi and hard drive is a 600W PC power supply.
Thanks

Yes, replace it with transcend or samsung 8G SD HC10,or bether option is to make It run from USB, becouse SD cards have limited read write... Will post how to do this. Icm running OpenELEC from USB and can even use theme like EonMQ 5!

I'll have to see if default Xbian is overclocked, but I haven't changed any OC settings

I prefer OpenELEC over Xbian because I'm pretty sure the guide is for OpenELEC anyway so it just made it easier for me.

ok so this is a simple question i know but conflicting topics have made me post this
i have 1gb system memory
5gb phone memory
29gb of sdcard space
So in short.... WHY CANT I MOVE ANYTHING TO MY ext_SD(the removable one) CARD I HAVE A CLASS 10 32GB SD CARD IM NOT ABLE TO UTILIZE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*UPDATE EDIT=So looks like the culprit is yet again a phone company making mods to android
+1 to Close the open source!! and go back to google phones.. LG, MOTO, HTC, they all just bloat the sh** out of the phone and take away the modding capabilities
so if anyone has any advice on how or what i can move to my 32GB Ext_SD card... please let me know
I have no problem moving all as compatible apps to the as card. Some apps just don't have that option though.

OK, I have a quasi solution for you I just thought about. /sdcard is internal and /sdcard/_ExternalSD/ is the your transflash card. Most apps are made to save data to /sdcard which does become an issue when some of the kickass games like shadowgun download 250MB plus of data plus all of your roms and media. What you could do, I gather, is move the directories like those game data directories to /sdcard/_ExternalSD/ and then crate a symlink to it with the same name in sdcard. It's probably what I'LLC do when this last GB is gone, lol.

That's a good idea just put them in the extra SD through the computer or if I can move it with astro maybe ill try that
Hopefully at least I can move my roms since they are the biggest space taker

No, he's talking about the external SD card...as in the card that you can pull out that stores your pictures and videos on. When you move an application on this phone to the SD card, it actually moves it to internal SD application storage. This is my second thrill and neither will move apps to the external SD card.
When you click on apps2sd app and move an app watch and see that your external SD card memory doesn't change at all.
You can edit vold.fstab to,switch how the cards are used

Okay. Continue. I'm listening.
I have a 32 gig SD card I bought specifically to be able to move a ton of apps there. I haven't been able to do so and would love to rather than being limited to the 8 gigs on the phone.

That method did not work, did not even recognize my sd card ("internal" or "external")
I can post that file when I get home tonight and see if anyone can get them edited.
Okay. Just tell me if I'm wrong. What I'm referring to and what I think the OP was referring to was that external SD card that you buy at the store where you store your music and pictures on. The SanDisk.
The other storage is internal storage, then there's system memory.
Cm7 fixes this.

Sounds to me like it does exactly what you want - and I used to use this on my old HTC DS for a long time.
Although, to be honest, I'm not entirely sure why you would want to do this on a phone with the internal storage capacity of the 4X, unless you are running multiple huge games - the only likely outcome is to slow the apps down.

I'm willing to help, but give us more information. What exactly happens, is there some error meesage? Is the card visible, does the phone register the card in any way? What file system is on the sd card? Did you use any kind of programs that tamper with symlinks (Link2SD, Directory Bind,...) to store something on the external sd?
Ultimately, try read the card in a card reader on a desk/laptop and recover the files.

So, to clarify, the card is fine and works properly in another phone (Samsung)? Test it a little while longer, just in case. Might be an occurence of non-compatibility with 4X, but it might be that the card is dying, depending on how itbehaves with that GAce. And if you can, try another memory card in LG, to rule out malfunctions in that phone.
If that 32GB card works with Ace and another SD card works with 4X, you might need to swap for another card model/manufacturer. I got 32GB Transcend UHS1 in my 4X and it works like a charm.

A couple of days ago my phones free space got down to 1.5GB and I figured I should back it up to free some space. What a pain it turned out to be!
As most of you know we can only transfer as MTP and PTP and I presume this is where most of the problems come from..
1. File identification is slooooww.
2. transfer time literally freezes at the initial transfer to my HDD. making it impossible to drag and drop another set of files
3. I dont believe all of the files were discoverable (aka hidden)
Please post any and all methods/apps/MODS etc. that may help in this kind of process! Thank you.
p.s. I am using Windows 8

I've found it easiest to take out the MicroSD card and put it in an adapter and put it in my laptop or desktop and push files to and from it. Works a TON faster than using the USB cable to the phone.
Assuming everything is on the external SD card.
For anything internal, adb root, then adb pull everything you want. (Make sure the phone is plugged into the original AC charger - it's going to take a while if you pull a lot of files.)
1.5GB left? And I thought I was a software junkie. I still have 23GB free (internal), and there's still loads of stuff I installed to find out why someone was having a problem and haven't uninstalled yet.
For me i only use cabe conection to use odin. For transfearing files i use mmc card reader. Very easy.

Okay. But what if I want to transfer directly from the internal memory? I only just put in an mSD card since the phone got full. Do you push everything from internal to SD then take the SD out and put it in a PC?

Hello all,
I want to format Windows 7 and install Windows 8. I booted from the USB and went to the page where I can select which drives to format. I have 2 1 TB drives. The C drive which has windows and I want to format it and the D drive which has all my back up photos, music and videos. I deleted the system cache which is 100 mb and I don't know which of the two drives is the one that has windows. Is it in an alphabetic order. C drive is first and then D drive is below it?
Sent from my SM-G900H using XDA Free mobile app
Yup.
The "C drive" contains the Windows operating system.
I know that. But on the installation screen it says Disk 1 and Disk 2. I want to know which of these is Disk C

I believe it should say more than that.
Does it say the amount of storage after selecting the disk or anything like that?

I would unplug your external(?) storage device (drive D) to see if the first one is the C drive.
Personally, I think the C drive should be on top as it could be in the order by drives.

Uh, the Windows install always displays the drive letter. (Even the pirated ones.) And usually even the name of the drive.
Can you still get to the device manager? If so, it has a partition manager which'll list which drive is which.
If not, boot into BIOS. Check which one is set as the boot device, that one's C:/.
Also, you can disconnect an internal harddrive.. Just open the door and pull out the cable... (I always do that on a Windows install to prevent conflicts and potential data loss. (even on my laptop. My Asus grants full hardware access.).)

No it's not the same. It depends in which sata plug the harddrive is plugged on your motherboard. It's not alphabetical. Just look at the free space and think how much data you've got on your d:/ that's the only way.

The "system reserved" partition is the backup one. I have a very similar configuration to that. The partition you want to format is the second, the one that says "primary". Also, windows couldn't be installed in a ~300-400mb partition.

I'm sorry you are not understanding it. I of course see that free space. But I don't know which of these disks is C. Because when I started to install windows, I didn't go to Computer to see how much free space Disk C has so I can easily recognize it on the installation screen. And I can't check it because I can't boot windows anymore.
