I personally used M2D's manager app to send tasker intents from my watch to my phone and on the phone I have tasks for each control and use "Media Utilities" in the Play store to actually perform the actions as it has a tasker plugin. I also use it to send the currently playing song to my watch and display it with the Zooper widget. It's tricky and time consuming but there is a tutorial in the M2D thread in these forums.

Best music app?

Looking for a full features (think iPod with a good widget) music player app that displays album are beautifully with the Widget on the desktop and is also quite useful... opinions ?
So there are no good music apps for Android?
Go with Cubed (^3) and you will never look back. Granted the 5.1 surround sound in the stock player was nice but I don't miss it.

Awesome music player, thanks
MixZing is really good and full features. Only con is it's expensive at $6.99
I use the Music player from the Cyanogen ROMs. I found it over on their forum somewhere.

Can't seem to find it over there, could you help me out mate?
I like the Samsung player. My only complaint with it is that it's a bit tedious to set up playlists on, and no widget surpoort. There are a number of really great widgets for the stock Android player, for which I believe I saw a thread that will help you install it, but I haven't gone through the effort to install it so I can't comment much on it.
Cubed is kind of a neat player, great for showing off, but the eye candy makes browsing fairly inefficient (imho), and having the controls at the top of the screen is a pain.

Cubed is good unless you plan on using the lock screen option, then it's garbage.
I was unimpressed with ^3/Cubed. Nice eye candy, but hardly functional.
I have Mixzing installed and it seems useful, but it's my secondary music player right now.
TuneWiki was cool for the lyrics display feature, but the interface is ugly as all hell.
DoubleTwist is the nicest looking and most polished of the bunch, but also no support for m3u playlists not synced via the DoubleTwist client (which was unacceptably slow for me). Maybe I'm just using it wrong.
The default Samsung player would have been great if it would just recognize my m3u playlists. WTF, Samsung.
As is, I actually installed the stock Android player. It's minimal and functional. I've heard MusicMod is a nice addition to it, but it looks like the latest version is only supported on Froyo.
I ended up going back to the default Samsung Player. The lock screen widget works the best of all the apps I tried and it has no issue seeing my playlists I sync over using iSyncr. Its biggest weakness is the lack of controls via the headset button. Play/Pause works but no forward or back.
A friend used bTunes which looks the nicest out there IMO. A close second was Doubletwist but the lack of a lockscreen widget was a deal breaker. Thing I hate the most from all 3rd party apps I tried (aside from dT) was that they all indexed multiple copies of my playlists. It was a pain trying to guess which of the 4-6 copies of my playlists I saw would actually have the music inside them and I got tired of always deleting the blank ones everytime I sync'd.
If Samsung can add some additional headset controls and a smart playlist feature I will be very happy.
I have to say though that the stock Samsung Player is quite handy and non-laggy.
I especially like the 5.1 option, which is god-like.
Other than that, it doesn't have many features but it is convenient.
Nobody has mentioned Meridian; I like it quite a lot.

I'm with you. The 5.1 in my car sounds amazing. I wish I had two options though:
1. I want to "lock" to landscape, without auto-rotate to the CD GUI.
2. It only rotates one way! Turn the phone on it's right side, and the CD GUI is upside down.
If these two issues had workarounds, it would be perfect.
I like DoubleTwist....
I've been using btunes with Widget locker to get lock screen controls. Works nicely!
I use museek. I loved the samsung player but the only issue with it was the sever lack of a random play mode.
Museek REQUIRES ID3 tags.
Museek supports album covers, Last.FM scrobbling, Sleep(auto stop), Lock Orientation,Gapless playback, and its free.
Play modes are: Repeat all, Shuffle (with the option to shuffle whole collection or just with in the playlist), Smart shuffle, Play similar songs (with the option to avoid repeating an artist until a specified threshold of songs have played).

Stock Samsung player has shuffle. Tap the screen and it's the two intertwining arrows just above the progress bar on the left.
So what players have a lock screen function? I hate the dang lock screen on this thing. Maybe I can turn it off, never thought about that.. heh.
The ONLY thing that I don't like about the stock music player is the fact that songs without album art show some gay-looking colored circles... Why not just a simple neutral graphic? Why not give an option to change the default picture?

[Q] Motorola Milestone (CM 7.2) Music app autostart when headphones pluged in

Can anyone tell me how to disable autostarting of Music app when headphones are pluged in?
Can't find anything about this in settings (both in app and mod settings).
Didn't find anything about this here (or somewhere in the internetz).
Am I the only one annoyed by this "feature"?
Music app starts because of a loose contact in the headphone jack.
Whenever you plug in your headphones the phone thinks you pressed the media button on the headset that shipped with the phone (it has a fourth contact on it's jack).
To disable this I used an App called Autostarts: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.elsdoerfer.android.autostarts
In this app you have to look for the event "Media button pressed" and then disable forwarding this event to music app.

Thanks for the suggestion!
...But it sounds a bit like cracking nuts with a microscope.
What I can think of is to install an application that "steals" the event from the music app and disable autostarting from within this app. But this solution is far away from elegance also.
There should be a quick and elegant solution.
Maybe a short script that prevents forwarding of this event to music app?!...
...which, unfortunately, is beyond my abilities. :/
I don't think you can "steal" the event from a specific app.
The more media players you install the more receivers of the MediaButtonPressed event are in the list so I guess the event is a broadcast that every app can choose to receive and react to.
Autostarts' description says it can disable app components, but needs root access too - otherwise it will be in read-only mode.
So I guess if you knew exactly what the app does with root rights you should be able to reproduce it without the app.
But it's getting complicated again.
I think the easiest and also most comforable way is to somehow get this app (there's no free version unfortunately) and disable receiving of the broadcast for music apps.
Done.

You were right.
I installed Winamp first. Plugging the headphones began to start Winamp. When I turned off its option to control the headset, the music app began to start.
Then I decided to freeze the music app via Titanium Backup, and voila. Problem solved. After restarting the phone even music app icon disappeared from the menu.
Not the most elegant solution, but it works.
Thanks for the useful info!
Now I just have to find a lightweight player that doesn't autostart when the headphones are plugged in or that has an option to disable autostarting. Winamp is not so good lately.
I prefer Player Pro - but yet again - this app is not free...

Found an alternative app for sending Spotify info to the Pebble music controller that seems to work.
(BTW I'm using galaxy s3 and liquid smooth ROM 4.4.2).
why don't you share what you found as an alternative?
Alternative app
I use Media Utilities. It works with Spotify and Podcast (and possibly more).
The disadvantage is, that it needs notification access to read out the current track/podcast. Additionally the user interface is a little odd and buggy.
But it works and nothing bad has happened yet.
...yay, can't post links as a newbie, but I bet you can find it yourself in the Play store ( com.batescorp.notificationmediacontrols.alpha )

Sorry I forgot to put that in there. It was not a good solution anyways it was a strange app that constantly increased the volume.
Tried Media Utilities as posted above and it works!
It does not show Album though.
In the app I added spotify, and then in settings under Application Integration i checked the marker next to Pebble Watch.
Use Music Boss to fix this, and you'll also gain the best watch app for Pebble as a bonus n

music control

Im not sure if its a glitch with my Pebble, or a problem with the software in general. Using the stock music player, i am able to correctly use the controls; play/pause, next and previous track. however even though the Pebble is set to use PowerAmp for my music, the display only shows one song and it isnt the song thats currently playing. Nor does it change when i go to different tracks
Anyone else have this issue? any resolutions? I also wouldnt mind a recommendation for a music app to throw on here, the only ones that looked decent are paid
Your music app on your phone isn't broadcasting AVRCP, common issue.
To fix this and get a vastly superior music control watch app - get Music Boss for Pebble.
Read more about why, here: http://www.reddit.com/r/pebble/comm...ally_a_fix_spotify_on_pebble_props_to/ckrs3q7

You don't need to pay money for silly music pebble apps. Go to the bluetooth settings in power amp and toggle metachange intent to ON. That is all.

I would hardly call the best App for Pebble, written by the most responsive and user focused Pebble developer, "silly".

[Q] Music Browser for Gear

Hi Everybody,
My question is clear : i'm looking for a music browser for gear. I mean that when i play my music (songs inside my phone, not in my gear) i can controll it from the gear (stop, play, back, next song) but i don't know how to browse my music library directly from my gear, which could allow me to choose (from gear) the single or album i want to listen to (in my phone's music library). Does anybody know an app or some soft that could make it possible?
Thank you very much!

Thank you very much for your answer... But it seems to me that Spotify works only with 3G or Wifi network, and i'm looking for a bluetooth link in order to work even if there is absolutely no network available. And a solution that works only for songs stored in my phone. I'm not sure there is an answer to my question, but thanks again for your help!

I can't think of a way to easily browse your playlist via Bluetooth..... however selecting an album or song is theoretically possible with the use of a lot of tasker.

Well i know that it's possible because an app for Gear S works that way... With a tasker, yes, but i think it would not be easy to make... I'd like an app simple and ready to use, the same that exist for Gear S (unfortunately it's a Tizen app so it can't be used for Gear 1).

I've been thinking about making a tasker player for a while. I'll add a search feature.......
