follow up feedback of a 5000mah battery for i9020 - Nexus S Accessories

My phone with a bulk mpj 5000mah external battery can go two days without a charge and the thought of topping off midday wouldn't even occur to me. I have this Google Nexus S 4G i9020 and think its stock battery is a problem since this year. I barely last it through a day of average use on one charge, read a thread about this company here so I pick up this as replacement.

extended batteries

Speaking as someone who uses their phone pretty darn constantly, I'm in need of a battery that lasts a bit longer than the stock.
currently, Seidio is selling an extended battery (I would link, but as a noob I'm not able to..) 1750 mAh - no new door required, but only a gain of 450 mAh..
Verizon has stated there's a 2150 mAh extended battery coming, but that will almost certainly require a new back plate.
Anyone spotted any other compatible batteries yet?
I ordered the Seidio one and while it fits behind the stock cover it also adds a bit of weight, which is great considering how light this bad boy is.
Seidio is also going to release a 3500 mAh battery in the near future! According to their website, it adds 3-5 mm of width. But for the extra battery I think it will be worth it. The only problem is I am debating on purchasing this because I had one for my tilt and well it flat out sucked after a month of use.
what do you mean it flat out sucked after a month, the thickness or the capacity of the battery?
The battery itself would barley last a day if I was lucky. Seidio just said it needed to charge like 8 times before it was full. It didn't kick in. Is this rare?

Did you let it fully drain till the phone died, and keep turning the phone on until it wont turn on anymore. Then charge it fully, unplug when it is fully charged, let it get back down to 90-95%, then fully charge again, let die & repeat. Do that a few times and your battery life should be better. This is what I do whenever I get a new phone...
We use LiION Batteries, No special charging required
OK, to start, there is NO NEED to do any special charging conditions with Li Ion batteries, it does not matter how they are charged. A standard battery will have between 400 and 1200 charge cycles before it loses 50% of its capacity (1200 if you charge at 50%, 400 if you charge at 0-10%, like when the phone quits on you). Ni Cadmium on the other hand does require special charging situations but we don't use them in cell phones because of the mass. You can do take the advice of the previous post, but if you do that I would suggest sacrificing a virgin symbian phone or doing a handstand while plugging in your phone to charge. That might increase the battery life too.
Secondly, I spoke with Verizon, and their 2100 mA extended battery will be available soon and it is supposed to fit with the stock backing, probably the best way to go if you ask me, only $60 too. I am checking their site almost daily waiting for this to become available since like many, I need more battery life, I find that I can barely make it through the day without being conservative with the use, and that's on a work day when I'm not on it that much, on the weekends I have to charge it in the afternoon.
If you want to save on battery, turn down the screen brightness, chose a background with as few colors as possible, the more black the less battery you will use since its an AMOLED, blacks mean there is no power being used on the screen. Turn off your GEO locations services both on the phone settings and in programs that run a lot. This will easily save you 25-30% battery life.

I was at a Verizon store yesterday asking about it and they showed me their documentation. Their extended battery will come with a new back cover that is slightly raised to fit the larger battery.
I'm waiting for this too because it looks like it will be the most aesthetically pleasing option.
Too bad the guy had NO idea when the accessories were going to become available. Ugh.

Verizon doesn't trust their employees very much - to prevent leaks, they don't tell people about equipment/accessory release dates til within about two weeks of the actual release. The Incredible launch announcement had one of the longest announcement to release times I've seen the the last two years.

I used my OEM TP2 battery which is rated @ 1500 mah last me now to the end of the day with moderate use.

for those with budget oem tp2 only $14.99 and fits in original back cover
i got my seido battery yesterday and it lasted me all day and I used it more than I usually do just to see what it could do... 1.5 hours of slacker radio at the gym... games and internet for an hour at work while on break... several phone calls and I'm still at 40% battery... and it says it gets better after 5 or 6 charges on the box...

$14.99 + free shipping for a battery that lasts all day from moderate use? This sounds great and I'm ready to buy it now! ... But is it safe to use this battery with an Incredible?

I dont know, but my seideco 1750 def gets me 3 more hours a day on my Incredible. I have switched back and forth from stock and the extended...the extended wins EVERYTIME...so Im not sure about that report.
@ suzook
I read that my OEM TP2 rated as one of the best.
TP2 OEM standard issue Rated @ 1500mAh Tested @ 1414mAh
Most Likely our stock incredible battery has a lower mAh then it actually states it is.
@ Xxq TZ pxX
Yes it will work because its in my phone now working like a champ ;O)
I also told someone else here like myself who swapped from the tp2 ====> incredible and he seen it first hand as-well.
TP2 batteries work fine
Hey all,
The TP2 battery works fine. Same size and 200mAh more than stock... in fact I've seen them sold on Fommy.com as the thin extended battery for $44.95. Don't be fooled, and just go buy the TP2 batteries. They're cheaper if you don't need the therapy session of a rebranding.
Enjoy!
P.S. Got a workaround for Skype too...
I'm sure a number of HTC CDMA phones have interchangeable batteries.
I swapped out the 1500mAh battery from my Sprint Hero and put it into my Incredible. It's easily out lasting the stock incredible battery.
I ordered the 1500 HTC battery as well. Between those to staying charged I am not worried about it.
Also anyone know of a battery charger for these types of batteries?
For those of you that want a red 1500mah battery I found this but im not sure if its oem or not it just says its an htc extra capacity battery hxxp://shop.htcpedia.com/index.php?dispatch=products.view&product_id=825

LOL that thing is huge!! It doesn't look that comfortable. I just bought a second battery as a back up. I figure that since I am pulling out my battery to reset the phone once or twice every day that I would make sense to have a fully charged battery in case I was low on juice or something.

WOW that would make my hd2 look like one of the 90's cellphones
anyways you should take a look at ZAGGsparq™ Portable charger

Does the kickstand feel pretty sturdy? And, does it "snap" into fully-open/fully-closed positions, or does it travel freely between them?
Does anyone have any news on when the extended life SLIM battery will be released, either by SEIDIO or MUGEN POWER? I'd like more battery life but not that huge back.
*EDIT* Found one from Mugen Power.. only and extra 70 mAh.. not sure if it's worth it but I might buy.

i heard that HTC HD2 Extended Battery BP E400 will not fit HD2 TMOUS version very well and i am looking for someone to confirm this for me ?
Well im bored in my class. So i guess, ill write up this review.
First off, I purchased andida battery off ebay, and is a very well known, i believe korean battery maker. It took two weeks from Hong Kong for me to receive the battery. Second, i did proper break-in for the battery, about 5-6full charge & discharges. The OEM battery barely lasted the entire day for me, i disconnect from the charger at 9 A.M., and by 8:30, im at 1%!! With the new battery, the same goes, but by 8:30, im at 15%, and will die by about 10ish. I have the phone set for push email, and the bulk of my email comes in about between 10am & 2pm. The Sense updates are set to 4 hour updates & im constantly connected to 3G. The phone never sees a charger in between 9AM & 10pm. Hopefully this sheds some light about this battery.
Reply: No memory loss. mAh, see below.

I'm using the 2600mah Mugen extended battery and I gotta say its a huge improvement. I work 10 hour shifts and I use to leave work with only about 30-20% left and now I'm at 65-70% at the end of shift. I use it as a router a couple times a day, listen to a couple songs, and look stuff up online. I was real timid about using my phone at all cuz it would kill my battery, but now I have no problems with heavy usage. It does take a couple charges to really unlock the batteries full capacity.

Ordered the same battery. Have had it about a week and a half, and I'm only by my third charge. The only complaints I have so far are the 4-5 12 hour charges that the instructions say you should do initially (thankfully I only have 2 more charges to go); and the battery cover included is flimsy. It pops off with the slightest touch. Might be just a defect on mine, but maybe others can confirm this. Good thing I had another cover that stays on.

New Extended Battery "possibly" 3'500 mAh + External Charger - "Update 10.16.2011"

New Extended Battery "possibly" 3'500 mAh + External Charger - "Update 10.16.2011"
Just recieved my new extended battery with extended back door for my Milestone 1. Bought it from here:
www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180686832371&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:CH:1123
It took a good month to arrive from china to europe, but it's finally here.
It weighs 47 gramms vs 27 gr for the standard BP6X and is twice as thick.
Can't say much about the accuracy of the amperage as I just fully recharged it with the external charger I ordered from here:
www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250859367106&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:CH:1123
As you can see it's quite cheap and although ordered on the same day as the battery, it arrived 3 weeks before..! (About 10 days after my order). It's working very good and sports also a usb port (5.2 Volts and 800 mA output) at the end for standard charging. I haven't tried yet which of the battery or the device will be charged first, though. Will report about it later.
I'll also report about real life battery time in a few days, after testing.
I'm still very happy with my good ol' milestone 1 (european droid 1), and although it's a little short on memory, latest CM 7.1 developpements make it very fast and usable.
Edit: Just tried to charge through the usb port of the charger, it doesn't work. I guess 800 mA is not enough, had the same issue with other car/home chargers. I think motorola's ones have 1A output. Even my Galaxy Tab's isn't powerfull enough... What a Milestone Beast!
Edit 2: Battery has reach 10% after 31 hours of standard use. As I though, real intensity most be around 2800 mAh and not 3500 mAh as stated. But it's still around 2x what we can expect from the original one. I run my Milestone on CM7.1 ROM and 1800MHz network.
Edit 3: I'm experiencing the "1% battery left" effect of some other devices' extended batteries for about 9 hours now! So until now It's been working for more than 40h. I tried to switch the phone of and back on again, but still 1% left and red led blinking (on some devices it makes it measure the value of the second cell, I guess, and brings it back to about 90%. Don't ask me why... It happens on my Dell Streak 5). I hadn't had this with my Xperia X10, where the energy left of my extended battery was accurate.
Final edit: worked for a good 48 hours. I must add that I put my phone during night time in Airplane mode (about 16 hours, but with some wifi surfing).

Nice one.

which charger do u use for charging the new battery through ur device's standardnusb port?
I charged it first with the external charger, as I think it's the best way to be sure that the whole battery is thouroughly and fully charged. But since first charge I also recharged it through the device's microusb port, which seems to work fine.
Since my first post, I also recieved my second extended battery:
www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190572457987&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:CH:1123
It looks almost the same as the first one, except the font used on the sticker is smaller and the price is cheaper.
I'm testing its power time right now, expecting it to be close to the one of its siebling.
I had also ordered a standard sized 1870 mAh battery from here:
www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150585920125&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:CH:1123
Problem with this one is it doesn't show battery status on the phone, as the mAh level can't be determinated by the phone. Will check with the seller what can be done (problem only with my battery?)
I saw another standard 1800 mAh battery for sale ($ 10.-), maybe will give it a try, seller seems more serious.

Some updates about my second extended battery: I now have had a full discharging/charging cycle (in the phone itself) and it seems that the battery is now calibrated. My updated "Battery Monitor Widget" shows me now 2885 mAh for the full capacity and the phone gives apparently the right power status. Real life use time seems the same as my first extended battery, about 48 hours.

How can you even put your Milestone in your pocket?? The battery door looks HUGE
Right now I'm using this battery:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=130579480018&ssPageName=ADME:L:OC:GB:1123
it has cca 80% of the original battery capacity, however it is much better then the other chinese battery I've owned in milestone, (I think) it supports the 1% mod, and it did cost me $1.89 delivered to my place.
I always take the old original battery and the dying chinese battery in my bag in case this new dies. I will get probably the same power-on hours count as with this extended battery yet with smaller package.

[Q] 2430mAh Battery

Has anyone tried this GOLD 2430MAH BUSINESS BATTERY FOR DELL STREAK MINI 5 battery here? (Just check it out on ebay, i can't link it because i'm a new user)
Wondering if its worth getting it or if I should just get a cheaper pack with a charger and 3x 1800mAh batteries? Mainly looking for an extra battery to take with me on long car trips so I can use the phone more like a tablet, but I wouldn't hate having a longer lasting battery for daily use either and then using the stock battery as my extra.

this looks interesting..one thing good about it , is that is the same size as the original dell battery.
I think its a fake capacity, the largest capacity that fits as standard size offered by a decent battery manufacturer, Mugen Power is 1800mah, and if you read the threads here, there is a 2400mah extended battery that has to use a custom battery cover because the battery is twice the depth of the standard battery.
So, i think you will find its not really a 2430mah battery, but a 1800mah battery at best.
if it seems too good to be true...
The best bet is to get one of those external battery packs with 3000-6000mah and a spare cable.
Also be agressive in your control of screen brightness and data use
If you read the feedbacks of that seller on eBay. There are heaps of negative feedbacks from buyers calling him a CON.
I bought off amazon since it had to be shipped to India... think there was only 1 seller in Amazon and he seems genuine.
There's a point with batteries where to make them any more powerful you must make them bigger. If fitting 2430ma into an 1800ma package was possible Mugen would have done it, so yes the rating is a lie.

Sorry. Thought you asked for the regular 2400mah.
hi, i bought this battery 2 mounth ago and my phone authonomy is double now. so dont coment if you dodnt try!
Do dell sell them?
Probably a con, but what the heck… I just purchased it. If it’s not 'as stated', I’ll report the bugger.
could keep us posted about this, i looked at the seller's feedback and seems it is fake but wondering if that is true.
The Americans have a saying "You can't put a quart in a pint pot" and that applies to battery power as well. Don't waste your money.
Irritatingly, battery capacity is only shown on the battery itself and not in the device’s battery info. So, is it really 2430mah? Don’t know. But there IS a difference. The 1530mah stock battery ran out of juice alarmingly quickly – like falling off a cliff - when at 30-40%, yet ‘Business Battery’ allows heavy use (downloads, browsing, video… etc) right down to single digits. So now I can use Streak much more (I’d say several hours more of constant use) when battery level is below 50% without worrying if it’s going to suddenly die on me. No gain between 100-50%, though.
I was prepared to slag this off, but from my experience it’s genuinely longer-lasting, especially at low battery levels. How long the battery itself will last only time will tell.
I’m not prepared to test it against Mugen’s 1800mah and spend near 30 quid (plus £18 p&p) in the process.
I've read elsewhere that the cheap Chinese batteries often don't report the available power in as many steps as a 'proper' one does, so they appear to fall slower.
I don't know how old your Dell battery is but it might not be as good as it used to be when new.
Yep, I had to replace the Dell battery (after about 10 months use) because over the past week it became completely unstable – dropping to 70% after 30min use, suddenly back up to 95%, and plummeting from then on. But the stock battery right from the start was always weakest when two-thirds empty, and it drained juice even on standby. Last night it was 100% or ‘fully charged’ for over 3 hours (mostly on standby and some light doc editing)… that had never happened before.
The thing is actually stamped ‘made in Japan’… aren’t Japanese products supposed to be expensive? Looks suspect, but whatever. If it becomes unstable after a month or two then sure, I’ll invest in a nice new Mugen or Dell replacement. But as of now I’m fairly content with a £13 Ecell batt.
Got one of these last week, & have put it through a few recharge cycles etc, unfortunately, it's no better than the stock battery
Oh well, it was worth a try..
As with all cheap batteries it has a short life - no more than 2 or 3 months before it starts to rapidly drain. As a temporary and inexpensive solution it's fine, but don’t expect long-lasting quality.

Mugen Power Batteries

I though I share this site with those who don't know.
Mugen Power is a reputable aftermarket battery manufacturer, and you will find many good feedback, reviews and recommendations about Mugen batteries on XDA.
The main site is here: http://www.mugen-power-batteries.com/
I am myself a Mugen product user and I would like to share once again how amazed I am by their customer support and social network persence, like for example if you follow up Mugen Power on facebook http://www.facebook.com/MugenPowerBatteries, they give 7% discount on their stuff. Many fans on facebook represents brand loyalty to clients, and you can see many fan comments and simple questions which are answered accordingly. If you have problems with you battery, it drains quickly, it charges slowly they exchange without questioning. Worldwide shipping is free of charge. Overall it is worth noticing.
Concerning Verizon Moto Droid Bionic Mugen has 2 products:
Its a 2000mAh Extended Battery, it fits the original cover. Slightly more powerful than original just enough to resolve the issues that might accure with factory battery.
And for extra power there is 4000mAh Extended Battery which enlarges the phone with an extra replacement backdoor, but improves the battery life at least 2.5 times.
I hope this little review will help you in your quests for battery replacements.
For questions, ask their facebook or write directly on their site, I always got my responces there so far.
I have ordered myself the 4000mAh battery for testing, and hope to post user experience results as soon as the battery arrives.
If you could, let us know if that battery will fit under the OEM extended cover. If so it would make a nice upgrade.

I purchased the 2000mah mugen and it does fit under the OEM door.
Battery life with it though was actually less than the stock for me.
At times it would get really hot and just drain out when in use.
I keep it charged and use it as a spare in case I need it when taking long trips.
This is just my experience with it. Yours might be different, but as of now, I don't recommend the mugen 2000mah one.
Haven't tried the 4000.

That should not be normal. I had same sort of negative experience with my other phone (galaxy nexus); i have written Mugen about it and got my apology and warranty replacement without questioning that is why i have mentioned my total respect to their customer support earlier.
If your warranty is still valid you should definitely write them a note about your problem, maybe they will help you with how to root it or something, try this one:

the 2000mAh version fits in original backdoor as @dellenrules says
and the 4000mAh is a big one, it shall arrive with extra backdoor to fit in the phone, i cannot wait mine to arrive!!
The mugen 2000mah battery in actually should last longer.
Because of how it's designed, it gets hotter quickly. As a result, it kills the battery a lot quicker.
When ever I get a phone, replace the battery with a mugen.
When I'm working in the office, it's pretty much "death by AC." My phone can last me all day with no problems.
When I'm on the road, at the gym, or any place where it isn't cool, the battery dies quickly.
No it isn't just a bad battery. I purchased 2 and they both behave the same way.
The stock battery is better for me since I'm not always in the office. I use the mugen as a backup and keep it charged and ready to go when I have to take those long trips.
I already get about 15 hours our of my stock battery on a single charge.
Not too worried about battery live at the moment.
Thanks for your concern.
Mugen Power 3600mAh Extended Battery for Samsung Droid Charge / US Cellular Samsung G
Comments of Mugen Power Battery from Facebook user Anlyn Bankos:
HLI-i510XL 3.7V for Samsung Charge: This battery was a complete waste of money. It was a gift and my dad seriously over paid for a battery that won't hold a charge. It's to the point where every day now I have to plug my phone in during the day b/c my phone says "battery low", I plug it in and "wow look at that - I'm charged to 100%". Imagine this happening 5+ times a day. I can't be without a charger because if I can't plug the phone in immediately, it dies. If I do plug it in, the battery miraculously recharges to 100% in mere seconds, only to go through the whole charade again 10 mins after I unplug the phone. I have dug out the original battery and am going back to that. Crappy product.
Thanks for the site information, good news for the facebook discount too, i did not know that.
I bought a Mugen 2000 mAh battery about six months ago. During that time it worked great, average time 16 - 18 hours according to Badass Battery Monitor. (For comparison, my standard 1735 mAh battery lasts about 12 hours. I mainly use WiFi and 3G, turning on 4G only when needed.) Then last week, the Mugen started falling off a cliff. It would go from 80% to 40% instantly and then drain to 0% in just a few minutes. This happened again and again. Finally I asked my wife to test it in her Bionic, just to rule out problems with my phone, and sure enough it behaved the same way with hers. So for $50 I got a decent increase in battery life but it only lasted 6 months. YMMV of course. Now I'm using the stock battery again and getting the standard 12 hours. I ended up ordering the 2670 mAh extended battery from VZW, which is currently on half-price sale for $25. It should be here tomorrow. Probably won't order from Mugen again in the future.
I love my 2750 extended battery.
