In the days before our official Froyo release there are a couple things i would like to ask around here.
I know everyone wants a fix for the slower behaviour of the phone...
and all of us want a GPS-fix.
But there a few more things i would to see on our phone, and i'll start with posting what i am missing, and i really hope you all could follow my lead here and fill me in.
Things missing:
-music widget for SGS music player.
-More in depth weather app..without the OBVIOUS brand-dropping of
accuweather.
-Support for local popular social-sites in the feeds and updates widget.
(like the dutch Hyves.nl or other local sites)
-An option to look for other languages in the Aldiko eBook reader.
And i know this is a bit stating the obvious; but erhm...i want more widgets from samsung in general...there are just so few in comparison to the Sense-UI!
And some of the google standard widgets should also be there too...they aren't included on the dutch version...just a couple of em...
Well, fill me in, and post your additions to let Samsung know what we all want.
(they must be reading this right?)
Buy launcher pro plus. Way faster then the crappy touchwiz. And it got lots of build in widgets.

They need to fix the way they update SGS...when we update we lose apps, no other phone when updating android does this..... Lol I had a,moto milestone and it never happened....sure back up apps, but I dont like the fact we have to do that cause of a bug.

Scalable dialer
The email app is missing the option to accept or decline meetings. This is unacceptable for business users!
The calendar is missing an option to select which calendar is the primary calendar.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using XDA App
Its missing more hardware buttons! other then that I'm quite happy with the device, I'm a little annoyed at not having music player widget but I've repleaced it with Lithium Music Player which I love.
Also I really don't care for touch whiz as its a piece of cow feces. First thing I do is install LauncherPro as its quite a good and fast replacement but I can't help to think its missing something
The SGS is missing a flash..
Definitly a better mail client:
HTML support for mails
Accept/decline meetings
Needs to be way faster

In the froyo testbuilds i think it remembers your last chosen calendar, so that should do the trick for you.
As for the rest i'm pretty satisfied (apart from a little lag, gps works ok for me)
Sgs is Missing a sense ui ROM !
Is there some way for me to reduce the text size that that app used. Because I find that even a normally sized text takes up a lot of space on my screen. Initially i hated the SMS threaded view and preferring the more classic way to deal with texts.
But the HTC Desire managed to make it acceptable, and now im back to starting to being annoyed by it since I have to scroll to actually see the last text or the one before that >_<. So....
Is there anyway to fix this and remain native, or would i be forced to go for another messaging client?
I would go for another client like GO SMS, ChompeSMS or Handcent. GO works great here and don't has those big letters!
Well while I may be forced to change to another client, I can live with that.
BUT if possible I actually prefer to fix my "issues" natively before going for another app. Not becuase I lack app space, but more because thats how I am.
use Go sms instead - besides the ability to set fontsize individually theres thons of other nice settings to tweak which the stock sms client doesnt have. And also nice themes to brighten up the experience alot.
You could also try to change lcd_density:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=992834
It will affect all apps though. But to the better in my opinion.
Or try a different system font, less dramatic than LCD density but may not realise the same benefits.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=989941
Or
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=994544
Well so far Go SMS might look like a keeper. IF ONLY I could actually get it to show the contact images and not just show blank "faces".
Anyone know a fix to that?

My problem is only with the texts. So I am trying out Go SMS for the time being. I don't feel the need nor desire to mess with the LCD density as I have already played around with LPP to get 5 rows in my app drawer as well as at least +1-2 grids both vertically and horizontal on the "home screens".
I tried out Go SMS last night, but i noticed that the phone did not remove the "1 new message" from the lockscreen when i read the sms with Go SMS. Do you know how to fix this?
Tablet Talk is an application for text messaging (SMS) on tablets. It requires that the tablet be connected to an Android phone also running Tablet Talk. When a message is received on the phone, it is forwarded to the tablet. When a message is sent from the tablet, it is forwarded to the phone. The tablet and phone can be connected either via Bluetooth or a Wifi network. Tablet Talk also syncs messages you send and receive on your phone while not connected--when you connect, such messages will sync to the tablet. It has too many additional features to list, including caller ID notifications. Currently, you can mute or ignore incoming calls from the tablet, with more to come.
As of September 6th, Tablet Talk v1.0.0 has been published to the Android Market. However, the hope is that this thread will remain an active place for leaving feedback, requesting features, and releasing test versions with experimental features. As always, all suggestions and feedback are highly appreciated. If you have any questions feel free to ask here or via PM or email. Thanks for looking!
When posting issues, please include the following:
-Tablet: model/OS version and ROM (if not stock)
-Phone: model/OS version and ROM (if not stock)
-If the problem is with Bluetooth, Wifi, or both
Wifi mode: I recommend only using Wifi on trusted, secured networks--e.g. your home network
-------------------
Known issues:
-Not receiving messages? (One of the most emailed and reported "issues":) Are you using a third party SMS app on your phone such as GoSMS or Handcent? If so, please see the FAQ of Tablet Talk's help section for detailed instructions on fixing this problem. It requires a simple and quick change to your third party SMS app's settings. For example:
Handcent: Settings->Application Settings->Default Messaging application: set to "Disable".
Go SMS: Settings->Receive Settings->Disable other message notification: uncheck
After configuring the third party app, please open the Android SMS app that came on your phone. Go into its settings and disable notifications. This step is to prevent double notifications for incoming messages.
-MIUI ROMs: Make sure to allow the app permission to send SMS, otherwise it will crash on the phone whenever you try to send messages. New: disable "System MMS app priority" in MIUI's SMS app, otherwise it will block other SMS apps such as Tablet Talk or Go SMS.
-Infinite DHCP lease time: experiencing seemingly random and/or frequent disconnections when using Wifi? Please see Issue 20461 and Issue 18648 for more information. Huge thanks to Jon for this information!! This may explain some unresolved Wifi connection problems.
-Custom ROMs/kernels: If you experience frequent disconnections with Bluetooth and/or Wifi and are not using stock firmware on your phone and/or tablet, please try a different ROM or stock firmware. There have been numerous cases where users switched to a new ROM and disconnections ceased. If you do not want to deal with the hassle of switching ROMs then just email or PM me and I will take care of you no problem!
-Battery apps: numerous users have found that apps such as Juice Defender or CPU Tuner cause Tablet Talk to disconnect.

Acer A500 running Honeyvillain 1.05a which is based on Acer's 3.1 release.
Nexus One running Cyanogenmod 7.1 RC1, 2.3.4.
As a daily use, I would do bluetooth. But, both worked for me (wifi disconnects randomly on my phone, so it is less preferential).
Any way to interact with the phone's notification system so that it stops the ringtone when the message is read on the tablet?
LG Optimus Pad 3.0.1 rooted
Motorola Atrix 2.3.4 running cherry pie
Bluetooth working great!
now if it could also have a caller id pop up like the Playbook, it would really be over the top cool!

Thank you for the feedback. When the phone disconnected, would the tablet always detect it and change to disconnected?
I am looking for a way to disable incoming text notifications on the phone without risking messages not being saved in the default SMS application inbox.

Thanks! Is there a number format you were trying to use in "Compose new message" that it said was invalid? The way it is supposed to work now: it ignores any dashes, and allows any length numbers that may or may not be preceded by a +. Hence "123", "+1234", "23423234", etc are allowed.
Can the icon in status bar be hidden?
Some numbers are in (123) 123-4567 format.

Quick update: by default, incoming call notifications are shown on the tablet. In the future there will be more options to control the sound and vibration for such notifications. If there is interest, conversation threads will also include call logs for received calls.

My only concern is the inability of the user to know if Tablet Talk is running in the background and if so, what exactly it is doing. I will think about this more, however.

Aaron,
This has the potential to be something HUGE. Imagine all the people who've purchased
high-end smartphones and would like added functionality ala Playbook. Man, you could
make things such as the Asus Padphone and Moto Lap-Docks obsolete! Much luck to
you in perfecting and ENHANCING this app;fantastic effort mate.

It would be nice to be able to clear the text messages that are saved in the app.

You can delete single messages and conversations by long pressing on them, but I will add an option in settings to clear everything at once.
The long press not working for me. The SMS are being saved on the phone side.
Great work so far.
Wow, this is working great over wifi. What a great app! I do think the UI could use a coat of pretty, but I'm guessing the dev efforts have been focused on functionality initially. It didn't seem to auto reconnect on the tablet (transformer, stock 3.2, rooted) after a phone call. Did I just not give it enough time, or is reconnect not yet supported?
Update (8.10.2011):
-added options for the phone call notifications
-fixed multipart text messaging bug (sorry to those of you who were experiencing FC's!)
-added long press menu for phone
-various fixes/tweaks

"coat of pretty" is my new favorite expression.
The phone automatically tries to reconnect so that you do not have to get up and find it if it's on the other side of the house. Originally the Tablet also automatically attempted to reconnect, but I removed it and forgot to add it back. It will be back in the next update along with options to control its behavior.
Is it disconnecting every time you receive a phone call? It should not be doing this. Is anyone else experience this problem?
Delete messages fixed.
Maybe a future feature to be able to answer the phone thru the tablet would be cool.
If a contact has more than one mobile number I can only choose one.

Thanks! Is the WiFi network your home's or work's? The WiFi mode will not work on all networks due to individual network settings. If it's your own home network, check to see if the default port is open.

Hello everyone. Long time lurking first time posting. After running CM for a long time I decided to go back to the stock ROM for it's smoothness and stability. Of course in doing so I've given up theme chooser. :-/ So I've had to manually find inverted apps and replace everything which isn't that much of a problem except when it comes to contacts. I know when I originally ran the stock ROM I was able to locate a working inverted contacts for my device but I guess too much time has past and I haven't had the same luck. I've spent all weekend trying to find one...Searching the web, pulling from this ROM and that ROM, trying to make my own with only partial results. No luck. I've made no progress other than frustrating myself. So I fall upon the mercy of the forum and beg someone to please provide me an inverted contacts.apk for a Nexus S 4G running a deodexed JRO03R. Of course I have all of the prerequisits such as root and recovery and I've done a TON of searching both on and off the forum. Just because I'm a first time poster does't mean I'm a noob.
Funny timing! I have made a few ROMs before and I have tried so many Contacts apks to get contacts inverted. I actually can't find MMS either so I am going to try and find an old theme and try Metamorph app. I am using ExDialer with Dark ICS theme until I figure it out. I even went and added WiFi Tether added tons of inverted apps and toggles with Notification Toggle app and reodexed. I can't give up 4G tether. If I find one or can edit one I will post a link
I have a working inverted MMS with spit that I can post when I'm at home and on my PC. Provided I can get my post count high enough to post links. I can't remember the source though...Since going back to stock and trying so many apps and so many mods from so many sources it's all kind of became a big blur. I'm contemplating using a non-stock contacts for the time being but I like the vanilla Google apps so much, both in function and design. I just hate light holo and wish everything was dark.
Home and back on my PC. Here is the Mms.apk I promised. You'll have to add the first part yourself seeing as I haven't hit 10 posts yet. Everything works to my knowledge. Not one FC or error thus far. Sends and receives everything as far as I can tell. I always had a problem with CM sending and receiving photos but this one works. Incoming text is blue and outgoing is white. Main screen text is white, viewed texts are black to match the background, non-viewed are highlighted grey, and the count is silver. As mentioned it has split and Emoji support.
Sorry for the brief post before as I was at work. Didn't want to come off as a rude ****. My plans include re-odexing but not until I get past this one hang up. I also am using Notification Toggles amongst many other things. So far I've managed to find or create most everything blacked out including the framework so the menus and stuff are black. Also anything calling out for the default grey background gets replaced with black. Like Titanium Backup, Settings, or Root Explorer for example. Google wise I have inverted:
Email
Hangouts
G+
Voice
Drive
Search/Now (Whatever you want to call it)
Maps
Play Music
Youtube
Calculator (Actually the calculator from CM10 so there are more features. I've also added some other CM10 goodies that work like DSP Manager and Torch)
Calender
News and Weather
Google Settings
Play Store
MMS
And a bunch of other inverts such as my online storage sites or Pandora. I've modified and added so much I could go on for several posts. It's really only this last hump to get over until I feel my ROM is perfect.
I never thought about a morph theme...I thought about using the bits and pieces from my favorite theme to create my own invert but everything is XHDPI and I don't want to resize all of the images just to find out I F'd up again. I've also though about Xtheme seeing as how I'm already using various Xposed modules but I would rather not have to rely on a theme engine. I've successfully changed all of the images, bars, and text colors in one of my various attempts but the background remained white... I have no problem pulling apart apks, changing code, and stuff like that but my talents are a bit limited. I'm a hacker rather than a proper developer so it's more a bit of poking and proding then changing and hoping everything comes together right in the end.
* Moderators * Please don't get pissed at me for circumventing the no links until 10 posts rule. It is a safe apk I found on here somewhere and no spam links. It's a link to my personal Dropbox without any AdFly links or anything like that. Done so in the spirit of helping a fellow member of the community. When I get over 10 posts...Which I'm sure I will...I will fix the link.
Where did you get the inverted versions you have for 4.1.1 stock?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Xparent Gray Tapatalk 2
I honestly don't remember. I wish I did so I could give proper credit. I'm almost 100% positive it came from one of the graveyards on here but I've been around forums for long enough to know not to dig up corpses...Unless you enjoy fail and getting *****ed at by everyone. LOL I had to dig back through some ancient theads and lots of dead links for 4.1.1 stuff. It's obviously CM based but it didn't have a matching contacts. It was only the MMS.
I'm pretty sure when I originally ran 4.1.1 my inverted contacts came from a JusTunBean pack but I can find one existant mirror or link to an old 4.1.1 inverted installer. Pretty much everything I'm running now came from various sources that I've kind of lost track of. A lot of Team Blackout, a few other random inverts I found like Maps, some pieces of BlackBean like email, a little CM10, a few odds and ends like the SGS2 clock app or Nofication Toggles, some Xposed modules, a bunch of framework stuff like centering the lock screen clock or changing images like the pop ups or dots that appear around the lock, and some other odds and ends stuff like changing the lock handle in Phone.apk to match the lock screen handle that I changed in the framework. I just ghetto odexed my ROM for the time being with Titanium.
I'm at wits end when it comes to Contacts. It's either make my own somehow, hope someone provides, or switch to a contacts/dialer replacement like DW. I'm tired of searching the dark and dusty crevices of the net in hopes of finding a working inverted 4.1.1 Contacts or a live link to one. :-/
In my poking and proding I found out there is a lot more to inverting contacts than just image and basic color xml editing. When you decompile the apk there are styles.xml that seem to be calling out the Holo or Holo.Light theme but I don't full understand all of the values. One does not simply change all of the values from Holo.Light to Holo.
Yeah Contacts and Dialer are combined into the Contacts app. I managed to get everything else inverted as well. I am using exDialer Dark ICS theme for now until I hunt one down. It looks pretty good and works well
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Xparent Gray Tapatalk 2
Not bad. I decided to just say screw it and purchased DW. Pricey at nearly $10 but tons of features and it's pretty customizable so I don't have to rely on other's themes. I would post pics but this damn 10 post until links rule. I understand the necessity because of spammers and bots but it sucks being a legit new member. I don't see the point in circumventing the filter either for pics. The first time to share a file sure...But not just for pics. I'm not the type to post BS and gibberish just to get my count up either. I guess I should get involved in topics other than my own then re-visit my thread. I also changed email clients to Aqua Mail while I was at it.
Over 10 so now I can post pics. This is what I've got going on. I haven't played around with all of the options yet though. After paying $10 I probably won't be going back to stock.

Hi all,
I'm new here and am hoping someone can help. I have a Galaxy S6 Active. Pretty much since day one, I have used a third party app for texting because I didn't like the limited choices for backgrounds in the stock app. I prefer dark backgrounds on my phone and the few standard backgrounds for messages are all white or light colored. Using the third party app has been fine, until yesterday. That's when I got my new Gear Sport smartwatch. Apparently, you can't have a third party texting app in use if you want to be able to text on your watch, so I ditched the third party app. I'm now left wondering if I just didn't look hard enough in the Galaxy Apps or somewhere else to find a darker setting for the stock messages app on the S6 Active. From the little bit of research I've managed, I've learned:
1. the stock messages app isn't the same across all of the S6/Active/Edge(+) phones.
2. the stock messages app isn't the same based on carriers.
Is there any hope for me?
Many thanks!

Thanks loads!! It worked like a charm.
A follow up, seemingly related question: since switching to the stock Messaging app, there have been occasions when I have swiped the screen to respond to another notification or even when I have simply swiped to open the phone that the Messaging app automatically opens. I thought that it was because the icon was at the bottom of the screen and that I was somehow inadvertently opening it even though that's where it's always stayed since I got my first smartphone years ago. So I moved the icon and it still happens. It wouldn't be such a problem if it didn't also open up the texting thread of the same person every time. If it just opened to the list of conversations, it wouldn't be as annoying, but I don't want people to see my texts. I have a lot of nosey people in my life.
Thanks again!!
