A ROOT METHOD FOR ML2 HAS BEEN FOUND, PLEASE READ THIS THREAD FOR MORE INFORMATION.
A root method has been found, this is just here for information in case it is ever needed.
Before everybody complains about another thread for trying to find root for ML2, I am not creating this post in order to find a method to root ML2, I am creating this post to keep track of the root methods that have been attempted. I created a list of methods in another thread, but it got buried. Hopefully this will help centralize all the information out there, there is no need for people to try root methods that we already know won't work.
Rooting Discussion Threads
Below is the list of threads for trying to find root, any discussion about rooting should go in one of the threads below. If you come across another thread about rooting ML2, let me know and I will add it to the list.

Root Methods
Below is a list of root methods that others have attempted. If you've tried another root method, please let me know whether you've been successful or failed and I will add it to the list.
Active Root - Fail (confirmation)
VRoot - Fail (confirmation)
Kingo Root - Fail (confirmation)
Saferoot - Fail (confirmation)
Cydia Impactor - Fail (confirmation)
Framaroot - Fail (confirmation)
Odin CF-Auto Root - Fail (confirmation)
Downgrade to Root - Fail (confirmation)
SRSRoot - Fail (confirmation)
Root de la Vega - Fail (confirmation)
z4root - Fail (confirmation)
Shaume - Fail (confirmation)
Has anyone tried SRSRoot? Still on MF3 and don't want to lose root so I haven't upgraded to try it myself... I'm betting it probably uses the same or similar exploit that VRoot uses though if it's even legit...

He's on MI2, not ML2, he just doesn't understand the difference.
Anyone else try the method posted in this thread? Looks like they managed to flash the MI2 kernel and use saferoot to root then flashed the ML2 kernel to get a working phone.

Been Looking for these since softbricking after the OTA update.
I recovered to quasi-usable with the MI9 PIT. However my PDA and CSC are now stuck at MI9.
Can't roll back to MI9 via oneclick, so I'm hoping someone has them and would like to share. Because they're obviously intrinsically awesome.
Looking for:
N900AUCUBMJ5 Firmwares.
All would be nice but I'm specifically interested in:
CSC
PDA
PIT
Thanks
I'm in the same boat. Is there anybody out there with a rooted updated(MJ5) ATT N3 that could try the method in this link and upload the files? Please?

Help anybody
Trying to flash a knoxraid using its meathods i wiped my system in SS recovery and wasnt suposed to reboot , so i lost SS recovery and my system and haven't found a solution that dont failed and i have a note 3 laying around i cant use and i dont know what to do ...
SS is still there. You need to flash the 'togetsafestrap' files in Odin to be able to boot it.
However, you are at the point of needing to flash the MLG AP, BL, and CP files in Odin to get the ROM to boot.

Also, this thread is long dead as I stated before. If you need to recover back to MJ5, you will find a tutorial in the QA section. You should be fine with just flashing the files I stated though.

I downloaded and ran kingo, which is the app your link leads to, on my Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini sm-g730v 4.2.2 and it failed repeatedly
. If you could let me know how you got this app to work, i would appreciate it. I also tried saferoot, downloaded from above link and it said device not supported. Kingo has been described as malware in these forums and the links to download it removed. So why are you listing it as a valid app?

Has anyone figured out how to unlock download mode so we can flash custom recoveries and roms?
Try using kingroot then use supersu me to get SuperSu.

confirmed, not working.
I'm going to guess that this was for the 4.3 leak and not the OTA update. In that case, major FAIL and Duh! since we already knew there was root for the leak. What we need is root for the OTA version.
Hey i have the leaked version of 4.4.2 rom installed on my ATT note 3.
I hear news on the OTA update but i don't see why i need to get it.
I just want to get my phone rooted so i can use some of the applications that require super permissions.
Downgrading to 4.3 build seem like an option but some of the links bring me up to "file was removed because of copyright/somethinglikethat", also i prefer more of a one-click style.
But does anyone know where i can find it? Searching for it leads me to the exact opposite of what im looking for. So hopefully a thread post can help me out.
You can't directly root it as far as I know.
You may end up having to revert to MJ5, install SS and then install one of the 4.4 ROMs we have available.

i read his post, but you can't get safety strap installed properly without having super user permission. If there is no root for the leak i only see the option to downgrade to jb and get root. The process seems tedious and like i said a bunch of the things you need to download, the links aren't workin.
As far as I know, the links are fixed.
Some people like myself are not lazy and have no problem doing tedious things to get their phones to function the way they want.
You may not care about downgrading to upgrade to a custom 4.4.2 ROM with root, but others do.

Okay, so I've searched and searched and haven't found an answer for this. I have a galaxy s5 I bought from att a while back, I have since unlocked it and switched to t mobile. I'm needing to root it but after I roll back the update with odin (?) then will I be able to upgrade again with the same process? Or is this cross platform fubar not going to work? I need to get my native tethering to work. Thanks for any help that can be provided.

Well for starters, a little more info about the phone would be helpful. What are you currently running, firmware version etc.
Looks like 4.4.2 and it's a g900a. It's also been Sim unlocked and the IMEI had been swapped. But everything else is from the factory AT&T.

If your on 4.4.2 then towel root should work. If it don't then just download the NCE downgrade file from the OP of that same thread and flash using the AP slot in odin 3.09 then use towel root again. I have used that downgrade file and total root numerous times. If your on 5.0 them don't use any of it as it will not work.

Sort of related, but I have an S5 on 4.4.4. I know I will need to downgrade temporally to perform the rooting process (no big deal, I had to do manual tweaking on my DROID 4 during its rooting process), but at this time my phone is unlocked (g900a). Will the process listed in muniz_ri's tutorial ruin the phone's unlocked state? I've never dealt with GSM stuff so this is all new to me.
