I have the HTC Vivid on stock firmware until recently it started to shut down by itself, so I decided to try some roms. I unlocked the bootloader, and then installed the clockworkmod recovery. It remained on S-ON. I tried the cyanogenmod 10, MIUI, and bunch of other roms, they all freeze after starting up, like as soon as I can see the initial set-up screen. It goes past the boot. Sometimes I even have time to go into the launcher and click on things before it freezes. Then after a few seconds it reboots. I tried to run RUU, but it fails as well. Any ideas what should I do?

Yes, I did flash boot.img from extracted zip of the rom. I also tried TWRP recovery, same result.

Hi everyone,
Semi-experienced guy here, played around with my old Aria lots but haven't really done much to the new Vivid besides unlocking the bootloader and installing CWM.
I ran the S-OFF program, worked like a charm. Then I flashed wcxrecovery, no problems there. Then I loaded the PH139 update file to prepare for an ICS custom ROM, and that loaded everything OK. I hit reboot, and now the phone will not go past the initial HTC boot screen. No loops, just stays on that screen. Neither ADB nor fastboot will recognize the phone.
So, how do I extricate myself from this situation?

I think I have made it worse, I though I would try and relock the bootloader and and use Method 2 - flashing RUU (ROM Update Utility) which was going well untill I got a fail message wrong bootloader. Now my phone is constant bootlooping into bootloader.
I phoned HTC UK this morning about repairing my phone they said they would replace the motherboard which would cost about £100 so I think I will have to do that:crying:

When your phone is in bootloader, does it stay there?
OR does it reboot itself

xda-Developers,
I've been a long time lurker, I love what you guys do here! Now, I've come across a problem I can't fix on my own. So here we are .
I've got my Sprint HTC One unlocked and have successfully loaded the ClockworkMod recovery image onto the device. When I select Recovery from the Fastboot menu, the device reboots and I receive the "Entering Recovery..." splash screen. After a few seconds of this screen, the device shuts off.
I have the same problem when I attempt to do a factory reset.
I've attempted to get around this by loading previous versions of the ClockworkMod image, but none have worked so far.
Any assistance or thoughts would be appreciated!

Are you sure the recovery is correct for the sprint variant? Here you can get the latest CWM for sprint http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2238324
You can also try TWRP which is also more popular http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2236620

Nice! So CWM was a failure, but using the .img file from TWRP's website has gotten me to where I need to be!
Thank you very much!
Rooted, Unlocked Bootloader, S-On, had InsertCoin ROM flashed and TWRP
Today, I was just using my phone normally and all of a sudden, it rebooted into recovery and I could't reboot out of it. I tried wiping the caches and booting from some back ups and none of that worked. It was while trying to boot from a day 1 backup I had saved that my phone bricked.
From there, tried the light trick, and holding the power/vol buttons with no avail. Its completely unresponsive, though my PC makes the noises when I plug it in even though the phone isn't showing up as a device.
Please help, I'm getting scared that I have no options here.

so the problem right now is that it is bricked. It won't respond to anything and it won't turn on. But before that, the problem I was trying to fix myself was that it was only booting to recovery, though it was able to also boot into bootloader mode.

Call in the warranty ambulance.
Hopefully they can't get it to boot either otherwise they won't cover the warranty because you modified it
