It's not a rom feature, it's a gApps feature, limited to (US) english language installations.
So, unless you have an us-english localized system, it is not active.
Recently this feature has been made available for german and french language as well.
There are tweaks that made the hotword available for other languages, but if you want to know more, i'm afraid you will have to search a bit, the tricks are widely documented, on xda as well.

He isn't wrong asking this question. On some of the p880 ROMs like Unofficial CM11 and Nameless the hotword detection doesn't work as of yet as they don't incorporate Adam's updated Audio HALs yet. I believe that at least on Omni and Beanstalk it has been fixed.
Btw, I believe it has been made available for Canada and the UK too

Thanks for the quick reply both of you

I am using CM11 Official Nighltly and Google Now Launcher. Even though I have the "ok google" option enabled and I'm using the English US language, my phone doesn't respond when I'm saying "ok google". I've also tried saying it on a Nexus 5 and it worked, so it's not an issue with my accent, definatly.

Why don't you read the posts above before posting?

I didn't want to open a new topic just to let people know that CM11 Official doesn't work either, it's not that I didn't read the post. If it is really THAT necessary I'll go ahead and create a new one... -.-"

No need to make a new thread I guess Adam thought you were asking for help, where, if I understand correctly, you only wanted to add CM11 Official to the previously mentioned ROMs that don't support hotword detection. Thanks for mentioning

Hey thanks
Did you have a look at BoardConfig.mk, there are a bunch of defines that are relevant to the gfx (or lack thereof). Maybe we could track within cm-7.0.3 where those defines are used. In addition I've PM'd arco on this very subject, hoping he replies soon.
will try it now, post later

Nice ROM,
3D Gallery is very slow, you might consider replacing with the old one.

I'm looking for a better ROM for my mom's Wildfire, being an Oxygen user myself I'm convinced an AOSP ROM is the way forward.. Video recording is no problem, so this looks like the perfect solution.
But I'm a bit confused, what exactly does this mean? What about it doesn't work...?

Sounds awesome. I'm just going to put a list of suggested ROMs together for my mom to choose from... So I may still include this one in that list anyway. Anyway, I'll refrain from hijacking this thread with stuff like this.
I was just curious as to what xanthrax meant in his post. xdbg, you seemed to follow what he said, what issue was it with the Gmail servers..? Unfortunately I don't own a Wildfire, so I can test it myself to see..
Hi,
Please do not use this rom. Use DevNull, it has more bugfixes and updates. Also uses less battery.

[Prj/App] Miui Camera + more languages

Hello All,
I flashed a Miui Camera zip the other day and decided I liked it, and after some messing around I've decided to add more languages to it. Make it more universal so that more people can benefit from it.
If your interested in helping me, please download the txt file and translate the English text into your own language. When uploading the file back for me, please tell me what language you've done.
This works on None Miui roms!
Languages done:
English
German
French
Partially done:
Chinese-zh-rCN
Chinese-zh-rTW
Working on:
Spanish
Italian
I can't guarantee when I'm done with this will apk that it'll work on all the roms here for our HD2's, or on other phones. Mainly for one BIG reason, I'm not the Dev for this app, merely a... Mod-er.
After I'm done adding a new language, I'll upload the new apk in a flash-able zip here. Then you guys can tell me if spelling, grammer is right.
Why don't you just use the files from a miui rom?

Strange the version 17 I have has all working color effects, anti shake, and you CAN enable the 720p option(haven't decoded it to see how it actually records).
I should mention I use this on typhoons cm7, but it works for any CM7 rom.

[Q] Help with voice search in Jelly Bean

I am looking for some help with Voice Dialer for my Galaxy Mini. I have installed the custom rom "[28/01/2013][ROM][CM 10.1][V 5] TouchWiz 5" by A_U. Prior to this I was running the official CM7 for the Galaxy mini. The problem I have is that I can no longer voice dial with my Blue Ant S4, because Voice Search doesn't appear to be functional. I can see that it is installed, and the play store also says that it is installed along with Google Search. Google Search is definitely installed but I can't find any way to utilize Voice Search or Voice Dialer. I have also done extensive searching, via google as well as in the forums here and have not found a way to uninstall and re-install Voice Search. I figure that since it is integrated into the Rom that uninstalling could be problematic, but I am not savvy enough to know for sure. I also know that Voice Dialer from earlier versions of Android has been replaced with Google Now which also doesn't appear to be working on my device. Can anyone help me out with this? Is it possible that I have a bad install?

Well that wasn't very helpful. As I said in my OP, I searched extensively and couldn't find an answer to this issue, nor did anything seem related. There are so many vaiations of these Roms for so many different devices that narrowing the problem down for a novice user like me is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. After searching for an answer for a couple of days straight, I figured posting a question in the SGM forum might be the best way to get any sort of help. It is responses like the one above that drive people away from forums like this.

Thank you arjunraina7 -
Does this mean that any sort of offline voice recognition isn't supported? What I would like to find out is if there is any way that I am going to be able to use my BT device to make completely hands free calls as I could in CM 7. The Google Voice Dialer app was the app that made this possible in CM 7, but I can't find that app in the app store, and from the research I have done, it seems that Google has pulled that app and rolled it's capability into Google Now, which also doesn't seem to be functioning on my device.
Bottom line is, in Jelly Bean, which app does voice dialing. will it do that offline, is it possible that it may be incorporated into future versions of the rom, and if not, do you have any suggestions for good apps that can accomplish the same. Thanks in advance.
Try and see if there's voice search name in titanium backup then uninstall it. (it might be com.android.voice.search or something similar)
then proceed to install it from Google Playstore like a normal application.

Wasn't CM 10.1 the most stable and functioning?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2343586
I know CM 11 works with most stuff, just some random issues the camera (takes video just fine, but snapchat video doesn't work?), MMS doesn't work, and some apps don't work nice. Of course, that is KitKat, so you may not be interested.

I'd stay away from 10.1. Most developers scrapped working on it as soon as 11 came out for a reason. Other than MMS most people are reporting no bugs with albinoman's (when properly done). All comes down to what version of gapps you use.
If you can live with no MMS which most can, enjoy http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2524934
Yeah, cm11 is working better for me than cm10.1 did, but I do notice that Netflix does not work for me. Is that due to my gapps version? Netflix released an update a day ago or so, and it seems to be working on other kitkats out there.

I'm running the kitkit version and I am very happy with it but I don't netflix... I thought reading through the forum for that development though that people had a work around for the netflix thing so you might want to search that just in case?
I did find a workaround some weeks ago, but after I posted it in albinoman's thread, the nightlies were able to run Netflix without issue, so problem solved!

Hotword detection anywhere in latest Search update

Looks like the latest Google Search update is testing always listening (lock screen, apps) for OK Google Hotword detection. Only for "certain accounts" at the moment though.
with Search 3.5 installed, certain Google accounts are now able to use “OK Google” Hotword detection in any screen, including the lock screen and third-party apps. Unfortunately, this feature is only available on a few accounts at the moment, but hopefully the rollout continues quickly.

I guess your account isn't one of the few.
Do you guys think it is just random accounts, or would these account holders know ahead of time that they have these special permissions? I'm assuming it's for accounts which signed up for some beta testing.
You are right. It might be for early beta testers.

Started working for me as soon as I installed the apk. Haven't done anything special as such to get it. You can get the hotword detection working from settings. Basically, it works exactly like a moto x except it doesn't work when the phone is both not being charged and also the screen is off. Waiting for custom hotwords now, "OK Google" seems kinda lame.
I read that it's being released in waves to different users and you also have to be on the latest Google play services 5.* But it is being rolled out in a back end search update in waves, few reports of users already having it.
