Black lockout screen after rooting & deleting dtcp_apk.apk - 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey folks,
after rooting I deleted the dtcp_apk.apk, following a tutorial on the web to get rid of the Amazon ads.
Worked fine, ads are gone.
But now the lockout-screen is just plain black, except the first lockout screen after starting the Kindle.
It's not like thats a big thing, but i would like to have colored lockout screens.
Any ideas how to get them?
Thanks!

Solved the Problem. Soft-Reset fixed it.

Strange Notification on the bottom left

Does anybody know how to fix this? On the bottom left where you get notifications, my machine is showing a round circle of small circles, like a loading timer. I click on it and under notifications, it says Ongoing, Loading Data, Please Wait... 12:22 AM. It looks like something is caught up. It's not hindering me from doing anything, but something in some small place must be a little out of whack.
Also, whenever I plug in my NC with my USB into my mac, iPhoto is opening up. It never did that before I did some of the other modifications last night.
I have a rooted NC that I then went and enabled multitouch. I also installed su and the Superuser app. I went through the process to be able to use live wallpapers. I then installed the stuff to get weather apps working.
Here's what I have installed total to see if anything here might be the problem. I'd hate to have to unroot and start over, but will if need be. All I'd really lose is my progress in angry birds and who really cares about that.
com.ccpcreations.android.MarioLiveWallpaprer.apk
com.brilliantintent.notes.apk
com.levelup.beautifulwidgets.apk
org.adw.launcher.apk
com.chains.apk
com.slideme.sam.manager.apk
com.aws.android.elite.apk
com.starvingmind.android.livewallpaper.apk
com.levelup.beautifullive.apk
mobi.mgeek.TunnyBrowser.apk
com.studydroid.flashcards.apk
com.rovio.angrybirds.apk
net.andforge.wallpaper.heartMonitor.apk
com.facebook.katana.apk
org.openintents.notepad.apk
com.noshufou.android.su.apk
com.geteit.android.wobble.demo.apk
com.rovio.angrybirdsseasons.apk
berserker.android.livewallpapers.waterize.apk
A bunch of the live wallpapers are going to get removed as either they don't work well or I just don't like them. I've just started playing with the ones I found.
Any help with either a process of finding out what's causing this hanging notification or a solution would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

In general, if you have a an issue that began after installing some stuff, you should uninstall things until the ssue is resolved and then reinstall the other stuff. Then you can focus on the one apk that seems to have caused the issue.
Thanks for the response. I tried that and couldn't figure it out so I flashed back to the original software. Some file somewhere got gummed up somehow. Who knows.
When I just rerooted a little bit ago, I timed things wrong and the root wasn't.....right, I guess. I could install and uninstall apps, but I got a $ when I typed adb shell instead of #. Something was 1 and not 0. I didn't do it right and didn't have true root.
So, back to square one. I now have it rooted correctly and am one by one going through the steps to gain further access to function. I'm only doing one thing at a time, testing it, making sure everything is good and then I move on.
If I get any type of error again, I'll know exactly what I was doing and hopefully the cause.

[fixed] Bug/glitch while opening app drawer?

I noticed this issue after using revone s-off and updating to 1.29.651.10. This issue is most likely due to the latter though.
The glitch is that in the split second before the app drawer opens, when there is a black screen, apps are showing up in a huge way. It's similar to subliminal messaging in a movie frame or something. It's hard to explain, so i just took a video. Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Z2hrbrkCA8. its more clearly visible in the last few seconds of the clip.
My question for you guys: has anyone else noticed this issue? What software are you running, and what have you done to your phones? Is anyone besides me even expiriencing this? I'm trying to figure out if this is specific only to my phone, sprint htc Ones, sprint htc ones with 1.29.651.10, all HTC ones with that software version, etc. Lemme know your story
PS, im completely stock aside from unlocking and s-off with revone. I also sent the following email to HTC:
I'm having a weird issue/glitch with my Sprint HTC One. When opening the app drawer, for a split second, it shows some of my app icons very huge over a black background. While this does not effect functionality, it is very ugly to look at for an otherwise beautiful phone. I noticed this after updating my software to 1.29.651.10. Can you please tell me more about this? Is this specific to the 1.29.651.10 software? Or specific only to the sprint version? Or specific to only my phone? It seems very weird that this is happening, and i want to resolve it somehow. I have no clue where to start though (thats why i'm asking you).
Heres the youtube link with a video of the bug: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Z2hrbrkCA8. I'm also attaching the video. Its most apparent in the bottom right and top left corner of the app drawer, and its more easily seen in the last 8 or so seconds of the video.
Thanks and i look forward to hearing from you.
Update:[solved] i guess something wasnt cleanly installed. After a factory reset it functions normally. I was stock software (not rooted) so a factory reset didnt even occur to me

[Q] Lockscreen and wifi trouble 10.1 freshly installed

Hi
Yesterday I installed CM10.1 on my HD+ following the instructions from the big "Dummies" thread here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2317500
Everything went without a hitch. Then google installed a bunch of my stuff and I am up and running. I have a few issues but I'll just focus on one big one:
When it is on the standard lock screen (which I only modified by adding weather and calendar) I swipe to open and it flicks to the corresponding app, and then within half a second jumps back to the lock screen! Once in a while I seem able to unlock it, but mostly I can't.
A bit of a show stopper obviously. I googled and didn't find anything like this.
Any suggestions? (I'm happy enough at the command line.)
Cheers
Dave

This sounds like the magnetic cover/case known issue. Just open the cover and don't touch the home button. Been discussed a lot. Search all threads.

Sorry, I just made a thread on this issue but I even took off the case. I got around the stuck on lock screen / flicker by turning it off. Not a solution but keeps me on the build.
The ROM is running great otherwise.
Also, any way to turn of Nook Screen when HDMI playing on TV. Uses much more of the battery.

[Q] No "stickers"

This is a minor problem, yet a problem nonetheless. Stock rooted, under the effects in gallery, there's a "stickers" option. When I tap it, it brings up a screen that has multiple blank spots that I would assume have fun little effects to add on. When I click any blank square, it gives me a gallery has stopped error and just goes back to the picture I was trying to play with. I'm wondering, when I unlocked the phone and /data was wiped, did I lose the stickers, kind of like unlocking wipes the HTC calculator?
Like I said, minor issue, but I'd like to have all of the features I'm supposed to have. Any help would be appreciated.

That happened to me after rooting. Apparently the stickers are in the folder "data" which gets wiped when rooting. You need to pull the "data" folder from the stock ROM or OTA zip and push it over.

Got it. Preload push did the trick. I figured it was something like that. Thanks.

Few questions after update

Hi all
I upgraded to Oreo few days ago, and while in general it seems to be working fine, i have few issues / questions, hoping you will be able to help me.
1 - Before, on the lock screen, when swiping, there was a cool "ripple" effect, which is gone now - I searched for swipe effects option, but no luck, even after disabling all other methods of unlocking and leaving just the swiping one. How can I get that back?
2 - When trying to install APKs directly from Google Drive, it stops during file loading, with the error message "there was a problem with parsing the file". Now when i copy the exact same APK to local storage, it installs fine. Anyone else stumbled upon this?
3 - How the heck can I get black notifications back? (No root). In Nougat there were files for it (Blackframework.apk and BlacknotifactionsOnly.apk) that changed the ugly and battery draining white notifications into black ones, I tried to see if installing them would work in Oreo, but unfortunately they don't. Are there any versions of similar apps for Oreo?
(Substratum + Andromeda themes don't persist after reboots, so I'm searching for other solution)
Thanks for all your help
No more effects on the swipe, much like when we move from jelly bean...
same issues with number 2, has to do with the new way google installs apks, annoying as fuhh..
3. No black notifications until 8.1 oreo. unless rooted =( ... I helped make some of those overlays (blackandredcallui, blackandredV2, etc) sucks, i really miss em. =(
*** caveat on number 3, i think there is a guy who got them to work but he only has 3 themes and can find it in the theme/note 8 section. could be wrong..

There you go:

@ars0n - thanks for the reply, however painful it was. But if this will be possible in 8.1, I can wait, surely they will release it this year
