Hi,
Whenever I play a video (on my pc) I shot with my n1 it wont play any sound. if i watch the vid on the n1 itself it does play sound. How can I solve this?
forgive my bluntness
You need to download the correct codecs for PC.

And where can we find those?
Don't say install Apple Quicktime
/E
Try Shark007 codecs or just install VLC.
quick time indeed works, but vlc will not play sound. Any 3gp converter will probably work as well

Currently I have a problem plqying all formats of videos such as flv,mp4,avi etcetc. It says sorry, video cannot be played. Why is that so? Any way to play the video? But sometimes it can play those formats.

Give more details about your firmware..
Also try some other player in the market

I've had a lot of problems after removing the drm samsung apps. When I freeze with titanium its fine but removing them really screws up media playback. Idk if you've done that but thats my 10 cents.

Moboplayer on the market works good u can try to play the video with that
Have you tried restarting your tab ?
I experienced those issues on DXJPE if i let it run for more than 1 day without reboot
this requirement of reboot has driven me nuts and started rooting and flashing endlessly.
yes, i also try the moboplayer, it's pretty good, and you can try rockplayer and vplayer, they are also great. but i find HD mkv files can't play on rockplayer, and play on the vplayer unsmoothly.
and maybe you can try some video converter, then convert your video to the right format.
My Tab plays ripped blu-rays perfectly fine (mp4 format). Look at signature for Tab details. I agree with poster above...restore!
my tab can play bluray rip 720/1080p mkv/mp4/wmv thru stock/mobo player without problem...
mobo is the best replace for the stock player which can streaming mp4 too..
Sorry for starting a new thread, but I searched and couldn't find answers.
I'm trying to play 720p mkv files and they are all stuttering in my CM7 kang and etana kernel. Youtube 720p videos are ok, but the only way I could find to play my files was converting then to 640x480 (someone wrote that in some thread).
Is there any other way to play these files?
Maybe not enough ram. Tuurn off some apps

which player are you using? Try using MX Video Player or Mobo player.
Try bs player lite

I've tried all them, but have no luck. Do you really can always see any kind of 720P?

The built-in player (and all other players usig "hardware acceleration") works for some videos, for some others software-decoders work (mx player has a pretty good one).
BUT, you will not be able to play everything on this phone. "Hardware decoder" only supports up to a certain specification and "software decoding" is limited by the processor (overclocking might help a _little_ here).

Weird, I have same rom and kernel right now, plays ok even in HDMI the only problems this have is with 1080p with high profile, or some main (see bitrate), simple profile plays good.
when i play 720p mkv files i get a little stutter and audio-video sync problems. A 720p mp4 files plays perfectly though.

I will open a thread and ask if this phone can prepare coffee for me in the morning
This is an android phone not windows mobile
Convert your wmv files to other formats

The problem is - do not transfer them using iplayer. Just copy the files to your SD card and play them with MX Player. If you're having problems with playback, switch to software decoder. I've watched WMV files on my XZ ( and other Android phones ) without any problems.

In the upper-right corner, when using MX Player, you have a "button" labeled "S/W" or "H/W". Press it and select S/W for software decoding - it might help with WMV files.
Thanks...just tried, no success...

Mx player can't play them?
Maybe there are some problem with your source video, but you also could try to convert them with video converter such as handbrake or aneesoft.

iPlayer downloads contain DRM (otherwise there would be no way of expiring them).
Refer to the "What is sideloading?" section of the iPlayer FAQs (I cannot post links). There are no Xperia phones on the list of compatible devices. There are no phones listed at all in point of fact (although it is possible the list is out of date), and I don't think any of the devices that are listed are Android-powered. It states you need to start playing the file before transfer to obtain a license, but you still need a player on the phone that supports DRM.
Yes i think you are correct, you cannot download BBCiplayer vids to Xperia....

had this response from sony...
Thank you for contacting the Sony Xperia support centre.
We apologise for the issues you are experiencing when trying to play WMV video files on your Sony Xperia Z.
We can confirm that the Sony Xperia Z does not support this type of file. Unfortunately we are unable to support third party applications and would advise that if you are experiencing issues with the "MX Player" application, that you contact the software developer directly for further information.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused.
When i search the net regarding BBC iplayer download to xperia Z i get this APP site :-
http://www.freeware4android.net/son...-tag/bbc-iplayer-firefox-addon-get-20021.html
will this convert DRM code?

i can live stream to my phone from iplayer site no issues...i want to save vids from this site to watch later, it appears its not an acceptable device as yet for downloading to file, + DRM issues as mentioned above...
I have converted BBCiplayer WMV files to mp4 and still will not play on my phone, it does appear the site is only set up for iplayer devices...

From the Sony Xperia Z specs table, we just get know the tablet can suppport WMV format. Do still have a WMV playback issue on your Xperia Z? Have you tried to reformat the WMV video a Xperia z most compatible format MP4 with a third-party software? If you have no idea how to connect Xperia Z to PC for media files transferring, u can also link to Transfer photos, music, videos to Sony Xperia Z from PC via USB driver to get some tips.

You could give VLC for android a shot, WMV is listed as supported:
DivX/Xvid
.Flv
.Rmvb
.Avi
.Mkv
.Wmv
.Mp4
and a few other uncommon video formats.
It is beta, yet still my favorite player.
Kind regards, Stefan.
