Anyone experiencing YouTube issues with the 6.0.1 update? When I scroll while watching a video the video lags. I googled some solutions and turned on disable hw overlay in the dev settings and that helped.
But now the video freezes while watching it in landscape. So I'm not really sure what to do.
Tried uninstalling the app and clearing data, cache, reinstalling etc. Any ideas?
Bump
Youtube for me is ok , i am un 6.0.1
I get lag while scrolling too
I have no issue with youtube. I use it daily and never see a bit of lag. Mind you I use an aosp based rom that is 6.0.1.
Damn. I might have to do a full wipe.
I enabled 'disable hw overlay' and all is ok, both portrait and landscape mode.

This solution for me worked for Youtube and Twitch, but totally broke Netflix (no image on videos, just sound) and I had to reverse the change to be able to watch on it again.

I have the same issue and its making me crazy! I'm going to try downgrading to a different version of youtube to see if it continues. If that doesn't work then I'm gonna format the phone completely

Probably won't work, because even twitch has the same issue, so this seems more general in stock 6.0.1 ROM.
If your clean install work please post here.

Now it works if you enable disable HW overlay in the developer setting. I heard about this fix somewhere.

Yes, I said in a previous post. This fixes the YouTube problem (and Twitch as I saw with the same issue), but it breaks other video apps. After switching this option in developer settings I couldn't see videos in Netflix anymore (you can hear it, but no image).

Lol now I remember where I saw it. Well I don't use Netflix so I'm good for now. Hope an update fix the issue
I'll do a clean install later on next week. Upgrading computer currently. But hw overlay does fix the YouTube problem for now at least. I have to pause and press play on the video to get it to not freeze so that's still annoying
Any updates from anyone? Just upgraded to the newest update and the problem persists. Hw overlay still fixes the problem however my other video apps like Netflix and Google play movies just give a black screen until I disable it.
(Was a clean install)

Works for me! Still some laggy scrolling in other apps - but YouTube now works perfectly.
Running CM13 latest nightly.
I seem to be having playback issues on Nougat. Be it custom or stock. Any video I play give me an error that something went wrong. Once I restart, I'm good again. Anyone experiencing the same?
No, video apps like vlc and mx for example working well on 7.0 and 7.1 roms for me. Do you mean embedded videos while you are browsing? Then you should try another browser
It does not matter where I play it. Fb messenger, IG, youtube app...
Ill try to remove all my apps and monitor... It's weird just started happening recently. It did not happen on dev preview so it could be a rogue app...

Which rom or roms? May you try other kernel, like franco, flash or elementalx. But your issue is new to me, never noticed on stock or custom
I first noticed it on Nitrogen. So I decided to flash stock to isolate but it still happens. Im trying PN and I will monitor
I am facing a strange problem. YouTube crashes and pop-up comes saying app has stopped working . Another issue with Play Store. The app opens, but whenever I select to install any app it crashes and goes blank. I have package disabler pro and substratum pro installed. I removed all blocked apps from PDP to ensure nothing is causing this, but didn't help. Anyone facing such issues?
Forgot to mention that YouTube works when I click on YouTube videos from other apps but not from the YouTube app directly.
Play store doesn't install, else works perfectly fine. I can install from laptop - going to play store and clicking on install on my device
Maybe incompatible theme?

That was the exact issue. I am such a n00b
I can't get youtube music to download any songs/playlists, I've tried clearing cache/storage and uninstalling the app.. also confirming file permissions, but nothing is fixing it... anybody else have the same issue? On global 13.0.3.
Caused by flashing my phone too many times causing Youtube to think I had installed on more devices than allowed
I've never been able to keep ReVanced Youtube running for more than maybe a few minutes, no matter what it's doing - whether that be just browsing or playing videos. It will always crash after a while.
I can't really recall a time it's ever been stable for me, not since I've had to drop the original Vanced. Been hoping every new patch I do with Revanced Manager it would be better but nope.
Just wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem and was able to solve it?
I'm using stock and unrooted btw.
This version worked for me:
https://github.com/cuynu/ytvanced
Just install Vanced MicroG 0.2.27.231712 and version 18.21.34
