Hi there, newbie here at the xda forum.
tried to find similar post for i9305 but couldn't, so here we go.
using S3 i9305, OmniRom nightly since "omni-4.4.2-20140312-i9305-NIGHTLY" until "omni-4.4.2-20140318-i9305-NIGHTLY"....
please note I've treid "omni-4.4.2-20140320-i9305-NIGHTLY" too, but it was rebooting every 2 or 3 minutes constantly, I downgraded to March 18th nightly again..... and so far no solution to this issue:
during incoming or outgoing calls, I turn on the loud speaker function and try to increase volume.
when pressing volume up button, I noticed the volume bar goes all the way up, but the increase is not noticeable/audible from the middle of the bar and beyond.
if I lower the volume from top to down I can't hear any noticeable decrease in volume until the volume bar reaches the middle of the volume bar itself .... below that the decrease is noticeable.
so, the volume bar seems to be correctly applying increases and decreases to the actual sound you hear if you go from the lowest to the middle of the volume bar.
above the middle of the volume bar, the changes are only visual on the volume bar.... nothing on the actual loud speaker volume is noticeable/audible.
I know that this loud speaker is capable of much more than this... MUSIC PLAYS FINE at higher volume levels, so, it's not an issue with the speaker or general phone configurations. the increases and decreases to media, ringtones, notifications, are JUST FINE as well.
seems to me it is a bug.
can somebody confirm and help me report this bug correctly.
thanks!
Hey.
But this happends only on OMNI? Situation looks the same with regular Samsung ROM?

Yes, only on Omni.
I had stock working fine since purchase.
Rooted and flashed Cyanogen 10.1 ... Used for a while and loudspeaker worked fine as well.
Been using Omni for 2 weeks or so.
Well. Since it's nightly only thing you can do it's to contact developer and report bug founded. It's a nightly so this can happen.
It's the same with me. The ROM is spectacular. Without it, it would undoubtedly be the best. People how do I report this bug? Greetings

No replies to that here.
I'm not sure if I can post this, but I've searched and found jira.omnirom.org to report bugs and request improvements to Omnirom. :good:

Hi everyone,
I'm experiencing problems with the volume of my microphone when I'm in a call.
The persons at the other end of the call can only hear me very silent.
The problems are only exists with the standart phone app, when I'm using a third party app (like sipdroid) my volume is fine...
I'm using Cyanogen 7.0.3 on my Nexus One
Is there a fix for this Problem?
With the stock ROM I don't have this problems but I need a ROM with trackball wake because my power button fails.
I can't RMA my Phone to HTC right now, because I'll be not at home in the next three weeks. Therefore I need my mobile phone with me.
I'd use an other ROM which has TB wake support and no microphone issues but at a quick glance through the forums I couldn't find a suiting one.
Thanks for your efforts to help me
hey, i have a similar problem but i noticed that using different kernel affect the microphone. I'm a noob to this so im not entirely sure if kernel is related to microphone.
Well basically im running miui rom 1.5.6 right now and i was using redstar kernel 38.4 and then i upgraded it to redstar kernel 38.5. Then i called my girlfriend and she could barely hear me. Then i reverted back to 38.4 and she hears me now much louder but not the clarity isn't as good.
You using DT a2sd by any chance?
Damn, my phone froze today at work and I had to pull the battery.
Now I can't power it on again due to the not working power button...
Battery trick doesn't work either.
So I guess I have to take the bitter pill and RMA it right now.
Holy sucks! What's the battery trick...just incase.
Can anyone suggest any 'good' solution? kernel or otherwise to fix this $#@$# 'bug' of low in-call volume in Nexus One??
Would really appreciate all the help!
If people hear you very quiet - look up the mod to disable noise cancellation. If the problem will disappear with noise cancellation disabled - it means your 2nd mic is faulty and needs replacement.

Nope, people hear me well. Its that I cannot hear well. Specially in traffic, I usually tell them that I shall call them back
Any help?
Look up Gingerbread volume control app in Development forum. It can override the system settings and make the volume much louder than the maximum stock, AFAIK.
Thanks, but this app is not working for everyone AFAIK.
After a quick search I've found that a lot of other people are experiencing the same problem on other phones. I opened this thread because no one has reported this problem yet on a LG p880.
I've flashed the latest cm11 nightly and will continue to do so every day. The version I am running now is 11-20140115-NIGHTLY-p880.
After a clean restart outgoing calls work normally. After a couple of outgoing calls in call volume drops dramatically (I can barely hear the ringing tone before the other person picks up and then I can barely hear the other person talk). Incoming calls work normally. The problem continues until I restart my phone or I get an incoming call. Then the same happens all over again, first two - three calls work normally then in call volume drops.
I've tried making calls with and without a Bluetooth device and with and without the stock dialer. I've also tried merging calls and putting calls on hold after I call but the volume problem persists until I restart the phone or I receive an incoming call.
I will continue to update this thread as I flash nightly updates daily.
Thanks for your help
Problem persists
I installed version 11-20140116-NIGHTLY-p880. Problem persists.

I have a workaround for this. When you start feeling that the volume is low, I first press the vol down button few times and then press the vol up button multiple times till I hear the voice properly.
Let me know if it works for you. But definitely this is a problem for all of us.
Hi and thanks for the reply. Tried to do what you described but it didn't work for me. Maybe I am doing something wrong. When the problem appears its even before the other person picks up so I can hear the ringing tone at a really low volume. I tried turning the volume down a bit and then turning it all the way up like you said but no luck...
I am now downloading the latest cm11 nightly, I hope this will be fixed soon.
Sent from my LG-P880 using xda app-developers app
Just installed 11-20140118-NIGHTLY-p880. In call volume problem is still there.

Installed 11-20140120-NIGHTLY-p880. Problem is still there. The only workaround that works for me so far is calling myself. After the busy message I get, in call volume is fine again for two - three calls. Then the same thing happens all over again.
Flashed cm-11-20140121-NIGHTLY-p880. Problem still there.
Any workarounds anyone?
Flashed cm-11-20140122-NIGHTLY-p880. There is improvement worth mentioning. As soon as the new rom booted up I went to check the in call volume with outgoing calls. The third continuous call I made had really low in call volume so I was immediately disappointed. Then I made another call and in call volume was back to normal, something that would not happen in previous roms. Then I made another 5 calls and on the 6th the volume was low again. Since then though every call I've made has normal in call volume (one day / 20 calls).
This was a huge improvement. Will flash cm-11-20140123-NIGHTLY-p880 and see how it goes.
Flashed cm-11-20140123-NIGHTLY-p880 and then cm-11-20140124-NIGHTLY-p880. With the latter I've made numerous outgoing calls and I've only had low in call volume once. I'd say the cm developers have found whats wring and are slowly fixing it.

I've tried a workaround using sony xloud. It is known to increase in call volume.Works fine so far, pretty sure it increased mine.It also has clear audio, which is supposed to reduce noise when volume is too loud. (tested on latest nightly)
Make sure you thank the OP in this thread.I could never download that ZIP via pimpmyrom app, guess the servers are down.
Also make sure you thank this member for creating the flashable zip & wonderful app
Installation instructions :
Flash the zip via recovery, wipe dalvik cache and reboot.
Thank you for your reply. The latest rom I've flashed is cm-11-20140215-NIGHTLY and it works fine. There have not been any occurrences where in call volume was low, with or without Bluetooth..
Thank you all for your help, I consider this problem solved for the p880.

The problem is not solved. It is back with vengeance since the beginning of July. I have not gone back to a June build to check if it works.
Any workarounds please.

Incall when switching from or to loudspeaker volume is very low, press vol+ or vol- and goes to normal. the initial volume is ok, and volume setting set to max (or not min) when switch, anyone has this problem ? know solution? only have this problem on CM11 , all other custom roms no problem, i8190 with latest cm11 (tried to install some volume control apps, did nothing)

Hum, couldn't find anyone with this bug, searched for a long time, only people who had low volume, I only get low volume when switch loudspeaker. I press vol+ or - and it is loud again, maybe people just press 2 buttons instead of 1 and don't care , thanks anyway. will just have to live with it

Not all of them, Slimrom seems to have no bugs, but doesn't have portuguese dictionary spell correct and its not as easy as one would think to add a dictionary to the keyboard. back to stock again, discovered CM11 maclaw has a 1 second delay answering calls. now that I am aware of it, just too anoying

Mmmm the Slim Rom is well, lets said not my favorite...
But if the problem was a dictionary why just not download Swiftkeys instead of re flashing and all that stuff.
BTw I found that in the recently updates of the roms the bug of sound ( calls ) can be "fixed" if u turn down and then up the volume ... still annoying but it helps...
I noticed the very low speaker volume since the first day I got it, the speaker volume is so low that I can only hear it on the maximum volume. This cannot be right. The latest upgrade (2A1.136) made the volume even lower.
Is there a software fix ?

read the forums, there is a fix in the development sections. flashable zip.
I've encountered this error too. I'm using musixmatch, in musixmatch the volume is so low. After try with Walkman app, the volume is getting louder. Back to musixmatch, the volume is fix now. I think there is a relation between Walkman and Sound. IDK. Just try, perhaps it's woks for you.

Coming from the HTC One i noticed that the audio wasn't great, but a few mods in and it's acceptable, still nowhere near as good as the HTC but definitely better.
Hi all, I know that I mentioned this in my other thread, but I thought that it should get more visibility. In short, my earpiece volume is extremely low, even when in-call volume is at maximum. It's almost inaudible, even in a quiet room.
I recently found an open tracker for this Issue:
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=80817
I'd recommend that anyone affected star this, so it gets addressed pronto.

FWIW, my ear speaker actually seems loud. Had to turn it down. Never had a Nexus device that had to be turned down. I'm still on LNX07M.
Interesting. I don't know if it's related, but I updated to the latest OTA. Hope it's not a hardware issue, as this is definitely not just a little low. It's like a whisper.
Speakerphone is booming though, so hurray for front facing speakers, I guess.
Thank you for sharing the open tracker
Mine was doing this also. What fixed it for me (not sure if this was a coincidence or not) but I turned on the speakerphone will in a call turned volume all the way down, turned off speaker phone and turned phone all the way down then up. Works loud and clear now. Strange though
add my feedback as well.
added feedback too
Bump for other experiencing this.

While the speakers are insanely loud which is good! I am having the same issue with the low volume while in call. I'll give this a try and report back.
Any luck with this working? And if so, is it a permanent fix?

I thought I had this issue until I realized I was not putting my ear over the speaker correctly. I'm coming from the N5 so with this larger phone you have to slide it closer out to your forehead. Try again to align it better.
Similar issue here.
Though in my case, the earpiece is lower in all situations. When watching a video the earpiece will be lower than the bottom speaker. Testing each one individually yields the same results no matter which orientation of the device (left channel right channel test).

Same problem here on a 64 gb from T-Mobile.

I find the volume on the earpiece best when you treat the front facing camera as the earpiece.
Use it on my right ear and it feels weird, use it on the left ear, then it's perfect.
I know this isn't a solution, but if this helps, why not.

After reading this post I realized after having my Nexus 6 almost two weeks, I've still haven't used the phone...
I made a test call, and my earpiece is of adequate volume I actually had to turn it down a little.
BAD MOTO!!
first , its the most expensive nexus device and now the bug is in the MAIN reason phones exist!!
VERY Low ear piece volume, i gifted this phone to my dad and now i am getting it back coz he cant hear a thing, and is fed up of this phone :/ ... this has got to be the priority... i am side loading the OTA and updating to 5.0.1, will let you know if this fixes anything but just wanted to BUMP this tread its a major problem:crying:
I'm on 5.01 and the volume in the earpiece is still low. I mean I can hear it but if I turn it down past half you don't hear anything.
Same problem. Pretty ridiculous.
Just checking in, same issue here. I've tried to make sure I have the earpiece centered over my ear but I have to have the volume on MAX to hear it and even then, it's just not loud enough.
In fact, I've been putting the phone on speaker and turning it down and using it like the if I have any background noise in the room because I just can't hear on it.
My Samsung Galaxy S3 was MUCH louder.
