This should go in the questions section, but you could use Tasker on both your phone and watch to do it.
Oops, saaaaary
Would I need android 4.3 for that to work

Just gapps to get tasker working. I have a thread that shows an example using autoremote (and Bluetooth tether apps)

You should be able to do this using the Tasker and the TaskGear.

When I try to use the NFC to "beam" (or whatever you would call it) to my sister who has a gs3 it sends her to to play store to buy the song instead of her just getting the song. Is there a way I could change this or is it just something the One does? Has anyone else experienced this? Sending everything else over NFC seems to work fine. I haven't tried doing it to any other phones so maybe its just a One to gs3 thing? Any help is appreciated

I have the HTC One and my brother has the Gs4. We use SuperBeam for everything nfc related and no problems. Try that from the play store
Sent from my One using xda premium
Nfc seems to only do small things. There's also a problem if the Samsung has s beam turned on.
Another thing to consider is that often it'll try sharing the app rather than the file.

I'd like to expand here that what these applications tend to do is use NFC to exchange bluetooth information and actually send the file using bluetooth. It's also possible that it can be done using ad-hoc wifi.
The more you know.

So, I have my Gear unlocked and all with Null_ (and have had for some time) but now that the coolness factor has worn off a little, I'm kind of wondering what exactly to do with it. I am on US AT&T so I don't have bluetooth tethering (and I'm not sure my plan would support it anyway) so I'm wondering what apps others have put on their Gear that do not require internet, are not games and are worth having?
I've got a disc golf scoring app and a few live backgrounds. Really the scoring app makes it all worth it, but what else is there? Thanks for the suggestions!
I installed a calculator, calendar and to do list.... None require the internet but make the watch much more functional.

I use the basic Google calendar. The month view works fine for me. The first time I set up my Rom and bluetooth tether it imported everything I needed. Plus the widget works on the Gears favorite apps menu.

Use Modern calculator as the developer as optimized it for our Samsung Gear
Other apps i use is Office Suite v7 and view some word docs as notes and Focus Trainr
Digital clock disc widget works well for a simple clock.
I cant wait to see this list at Christmas time. Cant wait to get my gear

I would love to know more! I am assuming this done with a rooted customer ROM? How exactly are you setup?
What I want is to run Endo on a watch. I don't mind tethering the GPS, as my phone will be in my FuelBelt. If the Gear can make that happen. I will get that!

in a similar boat as you as an att owner with an unlimited plan i don't wan to forfeit, so i only bluetooth tether to my phone when on wifi and mobile data is off. i run a tasker activity to turn off data anytime i enable bt tether. works great.

Either way, phone or antenna. I just want a watch that will run Endo and use GPS. It seems the Gear just might do that. Seeing as how I have a Note 2, I will have to give the Gear a serious look.

I've finally figured a way to get good looking functional notifications for the Gear using a Moto X.
1. Install NotiSync on both devices. Set your phone as primary and Gear as secondary
2. Install NotifierPro Free on your Gear. Enable notification accessibility in Gear settings.
3. Make sure NotiSync is checked off in NotifierPro Settings.
4. Set up custom profiles on NotiSync on your phone for all apps you want notifications sent to the gear.
5. NotifierPro Free, set position below status bar and make sure wake on notification is on.
This has worked very well for me. It presents a drop down translucent banner for my notifications and seems to be very reliable.
Setup:
NotiSync -> Phone
NotiSync + NotifierPro Free -> Gear
Tell NotifierPro to show NotiSync notifications.

That issue I'm not sure about. Maybe retry installing NotifierPro and enabling accessibility again. I didn't get any issues like that.

Watch has been unplugged for about 8 hours now with consistent notifications during that time. My current battery percentage is at 93%. Much better than what I was getting with Tablet Notifier.

Sorry if this has been asked or answered before. I've googled and searched XDA with no luck. I may just not know the terms to use.
I'm wondering if there's any way to start apps or shortcuts on the phone from the watch? Has anyone been able to do this?

i haven't found a way, but do you mind sharing with us what are you trying to achieve?
I'd like to be able to trigger tasker tasks that control music around the house, trigger playlists, use Google voice search on the phone from the watch etc. I also have lots of contextual triggers set up on my phone that would be interesting to respond to on the watch.
