It's a nice phone, slim and slick
but one thing (AFAIK) if you use the official ROM, there won't be any recovery access like key combination
you have to flash additional recovery from huexxx (one of our member here )
and about the update, i hope you're the patience one
custom ROMS ?
lemme count
1. Pay's
2. Nova
3. CM7
4. Modded CM7
5. Official GB repacked
6. Zeus
7. Marvel
CMIIW
it's a good phone for the price...... (as long as u get it dirt cheap) otherwise.. get htc... don't touch this phone with a long pole... or if you have the money.. just buy apple... it's still far more *refined* then android any day
or just get the galaxy s plus its in the same price catagory but its much faster cuz it has got an 1,4Ghz processor and the amazing amoled screen
SGS plus has overclocked CPU, you can overclock black to 1. 2 or more so no big diffrence. SGS has imho worst gpu. About screen... i think amoled make everythink looks artifictial.
Screen is good (don't start me on amoled screens just take amoled screen out in the sun on a bright sunny day and try to read a message , even not being gorilla glass after a year without screen protector there hardly any visible scratches and i have it with my keys most of the time.
Hardware is not bad but not that good either.
But it is so light and thin that it is worth it.
Main issue is the LG support and the update speed, and so far the small number of developers, which compensate with some good work when there is a new release.

hey
I recommand OP Black. It's very slim , easy and stylish.
LGUpdates came very slow hope that we'll get 4.0 in Octomber 2012 not January 2013(like 2.3.4)
now, if i were u, i would have gone for the original S.Galaxy S(i9000). it's available in India in the same price range.
it has identical specs but MUCH MUCH MUCH powerful GPU & loads of custom ROMs.
do not go for the overclocked (1.4Ghz one) Galaxy plus as there is report of overheating.
or, if its about a hard awesome sturdy cell, simply get the DEFY (it's 15.3K as in west bengal). DEFY has so many ROMs that you'll get puzzled counting. lol

well...then i feel SE NEO V should be a good trade, eh??...already sporting ICS, nice sexy look and i have heard remotely that it can be (am nt sure) overclocked to 1.9 Ghz???!!!...a balanced cell that...
I wouldn't buy it again.
Most of the ROM sucks.
- Nova ROM was on a good way, but development stopped when CM7 arrived
- CM7 is still not really stable
- Official ROMs are really slow, no matter Froyo/Gingerbread
- Zeus ROM could become good, but still it's slow compared to CM7
- I haven't tested Marvin ROM or whatever it's called
Optimus Black could be a good phone, but it was too expensive when it was new, so nobody bought it, which lead to a small developer base, and here we are. I have that phone for almost a year now I think, and it still sucks ass.
Honestly, if you can get it cheap, it's not a bad phone. If had the choice again, I'd always buy a Nexus. Edit: Or anything with _proper_ CM support.

Lol my bad. Had it for nearly a year and always thought it didn't have gorilla glass. As when it came out it wasn't very clear of it was or it wasn't.
One time my black fell on the solid floor and it didn't even have a scratch! I was afraid to look because I thought that the screen is broken for sure (because of the impact and the sound).

Z....Note 2?

hey
i wanna choose between xperia z and note II
my main points are :
1-screen :
>resolution: 1920x1080 and 440 PPI for xperia z vs 720x1280 and 267 PPI for note 2.....i know that z is way better here but i heared many reviews saying that the difference isnt noticable by naked eye(i wont go watching with microscope lol) so is that true?(in brief Full HD vs HD)
>saturation in Amoled display in note 2 vs reality in tft display in Xperia z...for me i prefer saturated colours
2-Battery:3100 for note 2 vs 2330 for xperia z....i know note 2 is much bigger...but we have bigger display too...so does it last more than xperia z?
3-Camera :thats really important 4 me....i know that xperia z is 13mp while note 2 is 8 mp...but can ppl who used both phones tell us about that?
4-processor: slightly different i think
5-design:actually...i like both devices....but i hate hearing about Xperia z glass cracks...i saw many pics and threads about that..i dont care about water resistant as i live in adry country NO RAINS AT ALL lol
6-sound: i want 2 hear my incomming calls while iam walking in a busy street
now...lets here ur opinions thanks in advance
note :came here to say that i have to decide myself or like that...i just want to hear opinions ok as iam going to get it from another country

1. It is true and not true at the same time. It depends on your eyes and the content you're viewing. For me - the difference is easily noticable, especially when viewing FullHD content. Sony says their "Reality Display" is so crisp you feel like you're there - and believe me, with proper content that is actually true. Another XZ advantage is the fact that it uses full RGB matrix, while Note's AMOLED display used some kind of pen-octa-whatever pixel arrangement which makes it grainy when compared to XZ display. They're both great, the difference in resolution is not that huge - but there is a difference after all. Regarding colours - no LCD display can come even close to AMOLED in terms of colour saturation - is that a bad thing - that's personal, everyone prefers something different.
2. It depends on the rom. If you're going to use touchwiz on Note 2, it's battery will last longer than XZ. It is, however, slightly disappointing as my Note 2 never got more than 8-9 hours of screen time ( advertised 11-12 hours ), and battery life on CM didn't even come close to that. On XZ you'll get 4-5 hours of screen time tops due to different display technology and cpu.
3. XZ camera is by far superior - there's really no place for any kind of discussion here. It's true, some shots made with XZ are "grainy" due to high compression, but they're still much better than what Note 2 can produce. It has nothing to do with the amount of MPs though, just better sensor and software.
4. Qualcomm CPUs are way better than Exynos in terms of performance and stability. There are no security bugs ( at least none that we know about ) that plague whole generations of phones like it happened with S2, S3, Note 1 and Note 2. Also, XZ's processor is quite a bit faster than what you'll find in Note 2 - but don't expect some huge performance gains.
5. Build quality - no comparison here mate. Sorry for that, but Note 2's build quality is cr..p, honestly it's disgusting - the phone squeeks when you squeeze it, the cover bends under your finger, the "chrome" border cracks leaving white plastic underneath visible. Regarding glass cracking - well, if you drop your phone, it might crack - it's the same for every phone with glass display or back - Note 2 will crack too if you drop it.
6. I didn't notice any problems with sound. The loudspeaker is not that loud due to waterproofing, but it's not bad at all. Some people reported problems with call volumes - but there's a simple remedy for that - turn off the voice call equalizer in the setting.
Note that those are my personal opinions. I'd recommend you to buy XZ as a former Note 1 and Note 2 owner. I wasn't happy with the experience i got with Note 2 ( i really loved Note 1 ) and I have to admit that XZ server my 'phablet' needs much better.

What they said.
The most reliable phone both in performance and battery I've owned. Started with iPhone, last was GS3.
I just know it's going to work all day and still have power at 11:30 at night.

my main point that will make me not buy the xperia z is the cracks..........it heats due to playing games or so..thats normal but i heared that if u put it on ur dest which will be quite cold the glass might crack..........also if i dropped it....plastic is cheap to be replaced unlike xperia z glass...what u think?
I'm sorry but those claims are bull**** or early defective batches, please don't believe those, there is lots of happy people with this phone that haven't had a problem. It's a well built phone. There is someone that even did oc in a piece of ice to keep it cool. If normal glass doesn't crack like that how is tempered glass going to.

Here's my experience...I have/had both
1. Yes. I am not a super picky bird-eye person. When I tried to see a 720p movie and 1080p movie on both devices with such the small screens, honestly I couldn't tell the differences. We are not talking about 40 inches screen...However, you do will feel the screen on Note II is way bigger than the Z because Note II is true 5.5 inches. But the Z is 5 inches with a bottom 0.3 inches of area as the soft keys (back. home, and small app). That makes the Z's displayable screen even smaller. I really miss my Note II's bigger screen.
2. The battery life on both are similar. I used them for normal web browsing, music, email, texting, not much talking on the phone tho. The battery can last til around 9-10pm with a overnite full charge. Bottom line the Note II can change battery that creates a huge advantage.
3. Camera on Z is noticably better than Note II. However the startup time takes a few seconds (more than 3 sec usually) to load the camera app. Note II only needs less than 2 sec. So if you are the type of guys who needs to capture the quick moment all the time, the Z might disappointed you.
4. The Z is a bit faster running and launching the apps comparing to Note II.
5. It all comes down to personal taste. I don't like round corner too much and that's the major reason I am using the Z now. Also one note that with my asian small hand, I could hardly only use one hand to unlock my phone on the Note II, but Z is ok. I have numeric lock on my phone and that's my company email's policy. So if you have smaller hand and need to use numeric pin to unlock the phone, Z is easier.
6. Note II is better.
One side note though, the major reason I switched from Note II to Z is because my Note II died after 2 months of usage...I thought I hit the sudden death syndrome but actually when I took it to the services centre the guy told me the screen was dead. I got it fixed and sold it right away.
Happy hunting!

Please note that the camera app from the XZ only starts up slow the first time you run it.
So if you plan to use your camera run it before hand. After that when you run it, it opens within a second.
If you reboot your phone you will need to do this step again.

1. 1080p vs 720p....noticeable but not really a game changer
2. the note 2 has 5-6 hours screen-on with everything on dont even compare it to the xperia z because XZ will not last half as long. (yes i know depending on usage)
3. MP is not really important, go research on this. IMO Note 2 will win because XZ got too much processing, and I understand why XZ do this, they want the file to be small in order to upload it to FB quicker.
4. in benchmark its a world of difference, in real world use not much
5.XZ win hands down...the rarity of the device in the U.S market is another reason why i pick the phone
6. sound. you can hear it after you flash puremod, I havent test stock so not sure but i'm sure you can.
You cant even compare this two devices..
Its like comparing an m3 e92 with a simple a5 or something..
M3 is the z

Why did you bought Optimus Black ? - Reasons

Hi Guys. I wanna start new topic. Tell me the reasons why did you bought LG P970.
First I:
- it was very good looking and with style what I like
- in 2011 this was one on the slimmest smartphones. I checked that on www.phonegg.com/top/12-Slimmest-Cell-Phones but now is out of list
- it was looking like Iphone 4 but with bigger display. Now is similiar to Iphone 5 black.
- I was thinking to buy Samsung Galaxy S1 but Optimus Black was better: have Flash, no pentile and screen brithness was much better (very important if I want to see something outside during sunny day)
- price was ok about 250 Euro
- I was quite sure that device will get Android 4.0 because was avalialbe on May 2011 in shops. ICS was realased in October 2011 (18 months support for updates )

Now your turn
My OB is a 2nd hand phone. i like its design, and it has the world's brightest display the nova ips... it is still the brightest today but not that crisp as the new technology displays like htc lcd2 and amoled2. who cares... i got a phone OB that when full brightness on full white screen fully lights up a big room like a florescent lamp... hehehe
4". Good display. Thin.

Thin. Cheap. Good camera and has ICS :v Haha.
My black was the best phone I could had been obtained while I change my ITSP.
And Im proud of what I selected
After this phone, lot of L series came, and some others, even so ours is best and unbeatable
I don't wish to sell..

I bought it, because it has 4" display, 5 Mpx camera, CM support, official android 4.0, and also it has good value to money. I bought it for 500 zł (Polish money), for example SGS4 costs 2500 zł.
Sent from my LG Optimus Black
I wanted the O2X but it was too expensive even with contract so I got the OB instead. Not a bad decision.
Sent from my LG-P970 using Tapatalk 4 Beta
Same as the OP really... got it when it first came out in Germany, that was 3 years ago - along with a new contract so "free".
I still like its style, looks, size and display (was getting crazy searching for a new smartphone, because I need the high screen brightness and couldn't find a new phone that even comes close, lol).
What I didn't like were the initial very bad stock roms (battery life of ~10h idle...), the occasional slowdowns and keyboard crashed I got using stock roms, so I rooted and used a variety of custom roms. Phone is still running good, but I am now considering to buy something new, probably the Optimus G. I just need more performance for multitasking, plus my GPS has been acting up for a while now.
All in all I don't regret getting the phone, as it is one tough piece of hardware. It has fallen down like 50 times, been used daily without a hull or cover, gotten wet, been full of mud, and it still works No scratches on the display either, just the back plastic cover is full of them, but who cares.
I bought it because it was good looking and thin, with nice hardware and the brightest display.
And all of these at a reasonable price.I love it!The only thing that i miss is the USB OTG feature.
it was cheap when i bought it. switched from Samsung Wave 2 because of bigger (better) screen, slim body and android.
dropped it several times but still without scratches or cracks
do not regret it. should have purchased it in black color, though

Very much the same as you,. It was the IPS screen that won me. And if it gets somehow USB OTG I will be happy camper.
It has served me faithfully for over two years and it is a definite value for money. After all this time without screen protection there are only couple of very fine scratches, not visible when looking straight to the screen.
Only real downside is battery being bad to start with and gone worse over time, which turned out to be related with LGs chip design .
P.s. I came from nokia 5800 and samsung wave 1
I bought it since my dear Samsung Wave 1 was stolen and this phone was the best about quality/price. I have to admit that seeing knzo create the very first topic of our forum had helped.
I got it because it was light in weight, the awesome display, not to big, good hardware specs at the time, good development of custom roms and a good community to back it up.
My ob is second hand !!!
Bought it for emergency !!! When i lost my galaxy sl !

First for the screen, secondly for the design. Nova is stil one of the best screen (very bright, neutral colors and large angles of view), even versus newest phones. My girlfriend has a S3, Nova beats its over-saturated amoled...
Because its cheap and I got it as my second device. Am also gonna use for devment
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using Tapatalk 2
1) 4 inch screen back then (2011) was considered as quite big
2) thin and light
3) couldn't afford more expensive device as I'm a student
never baught it, my good old sister had the OB and SG-S1 for her daughter. she went on and got her self another SG-S1. so i asked her to be a loving sister and give her brother a present.....something like OB.
i had SG Gio, and it was nice until i saw the light with the OB. i like its size, screen, weight, and overall looks. i use it for almost a year and its still rocks. and since i got it from sis, i never say no to presents and passed my Gio to the wife.
mean while my sister upgraded both hers and daughters phone, she got SG Note, and for her daughter SG-S3, so i asked her for her old SG-S1 in order to compare with the OB. she gave me both her SG-S1 for me and my wife. my wife sold the Gio, and she is happy like i was when moving from small screen phone to a bigger one.
as far as for me, after 2 weeks of using the SG, i still like the OB better. they are so similar with the specs but still screen is way better and the camera has the flash which is a plus for me.

[Q] G3 vs Z3C? Opinions

Hey there, I'm planning to give back my g3 to amazon spend 20€ more and get the z3c...
I know this is the z3c forum so I will get more positive reviews about it.
Some extra info: I keep using my nexus 7 2013 for reading and video, with the G3 I didn't use the nexus 7 2013 at all these days so if I keep the G3 I think I will sell the tablet.
G3 foto gets really good with XCam from xdabebb although you can't modify so many values as the z3c manual mode 20 megapixel...
Battery: G3 can give me 5 hours SOT MAX in a day of use, if I forget to charge it It wont get through the second day.
The best thing I like about the LG G3 are the thin bezels and the fact of a 5.5 inch into so small sizes + the screen for multimedia purposes can substitute tablet use.
The worst thing about the LG G3 is the size for 1 hand is nearly impossible and dangerous (phone can easily fall), and the battery + the camera is only good with xdabbeb camera XCam and now with lollipop LG has removed many functionalities about the hardware of the camara that can be accesed
Sorry for the long post
TL.DR: Why should I get Z3 Compact over G3, provide some links in your answers (even I've searched in google quite a lot and not many people compare these 2 due to different screen sizes)
I come from the LG G2 (1 year) -> Amazon Firephone (3 months)-> z3 compact (3 months so far) . However I help my friend to buy a LG G3 and use if for a couple of days. Technically, the LG G3 is mostly identical to the LG G2 (slightly bigger in screen and size, same camera, battery capacity, design and internals (S801 is just an overclocked s800)) However, when the G2 has very good battery life, the G3 is just average. G3 has better camera focus time thanks to laser sensor, but the image quality is mostly the same (they uses the same Sony sensor) The reason I switch to the Z3 compact is G3 is mostly the same as G2 and I need to upgrade my smartphone, as my father love to use the G2, and he's still using. And I advise 4 of my friends to buy sony devices. Our group now have 1 z3, 4 z3 compacts.
The reason for buying z3 compact is:
+ water proof: trust me, my s4 died for just drop into the water for 3 seconds. This z3c has several times accidentally into the water and she lives well. Plus one time listening to music under the heavy rain for more than 1 hour.
+ battery: The best battery life device for more than 10 smartphones I've used in my life. My habit is charge the phone over-night and I have to plug it in normally at 40-50%, 30% on the intensive day and even 70% on the easy one.
+ speakers: It has 2 stereo speakers towards your ears. Most of the other smartphone including LG and has speaker grill at the bottom (one ear in landscape mode) or in the back ?? after using phones with front-facing speakers, you will never go back. And my daddy love my mother's Moto G 2014 just because of those speakers haha.
The reason to not buy the z3 compact is:
-screen size: Depends. Yeah it's very efficiently designed since it has 4.6 inches screen and much smaller than the 4.7 inches galaxy alpha and Iphone 6. However, 4.6 can be considered too small for some. You can buy the z3 in this case, keep in mind that the bigger Z3 doesn't have the as good screen-size ratio as the z3 compact
-camera: IMX 220 is the very good camera (proven in other devices. However, I don't know why Sony can introduce the very bad camera software. It's hard to use, it's complicated, it re-focus when you hit the button even when you already focused just before. Plus, the camera software stays the same without any major updates for nearly 2 years since the z1 and z1 compact. It's a joke when Sony keeps updating theirs other apps like Walkman (now music), Gallery, launcher, themes, major android updates. And don't get me wrong, z3c camera is really good, it just cannot cope with the potential of the sensor itself, and ironically they are the maker of the sensor ha ha. And please not to forget the 2MP front facing camera is just average (with f 2.8 and bad quality) if you are the selfie person.
In conclusion, I'm very satisfied with the z3 compact and will stick with it for a long time.

Hello thanks for your post it was very usefull for me, I also owned the G2 for a while and I must say, from what I remember, the camera noise is much lower in the G3 under low light conditions. The main reason I want to get the z3c is due to the camera (in manual mode you can get impressive pictures & auto mode is improving from what I've read) and the battery. The biggest con I see with the z3c is non-removable battery. When the battery life ends it will mean you have to throw it away or take it to the service center and pay a big amount of money to get a new one.
EDIT: Damn, didn't read you already have a G3, curse my lack of reading skills.
I don't know much about the Z3C as I haven't had much contact with it besides playing with it at some store, but I suppose I can tell you a little bit about my G3
Pros:
+Screen size and resolution - it's just perfect for watching vids, playing games and browsing stuff in your bed. Everything you see is incredibly sharp due to the horrendous resolution. I can definetely say there is a difference between my dad's Z1 (it's FullHD, while Z3C is just HD so the difference is even bigger) and my G3 in terms of clarity of the display. You can literally read ant's-****-sized text.
+Camera - it produces really nice shots, in good surroundings it can give birth to magnificent images you will be proud of. And having the laser focus makes you feel like a James Bond... sometimes
+Performance - yes, the QHD sometimes makes the CPU a bit sweaty, but overall there is little to be desired. You may be disappointed if you expect your phone to switch to landscape mode in a blink, but for a simple user it is absolutely ok.
+Pretty and slim design - not as flamboyant as your favourite drag queen, but I really like the way it looks. Altough it is more like a matter of taste.
+Physical buttons placement - it may seem weird at first, but you will like it.
+Durability - I squeezed it many times in my pocket by sitting or kneeling abruptly, yet nothing happened and after six months my device still looks great. Also, the screen is really scratch resistant, there is no need to purchase any screen protector.
+Great standby time - it will live a looooooong life if you just leave it idle.
+Mod-friendly - easy to root, easy to flash, you can restore it no problem if you screw something up (no fear of permanently damaging the camera like in Z3C's case)
+Removable battery - you will love it if your phone gets stuck for some reason. Just pull the battery and all the bad dreams are gone!
Not-pros:
-Overheating - yep, sometimes it gets hotter than girls in your browser history. Hovewer, it occurs only if you push the phone to the limit.
-Need of tinkering - I mean, LG screwed up the software a little bit so you may want to get rid of some of the annoyances like screen oversharpening (it was so annoying that I've decided to root the device just to repair this one goddamn thing, I couldn't stand my mom's face oversharpened), heating, battery life, etc.
-Battery life - not as good as Z3C's, expect it to have 4-5h SOT and be battery hungry at the end of the day if you use it a lot. There are no perks like Stamina mode, though it can be dealt with through rooting or simply buying a bigger battery.
-Plastic - it doesn't feel as premium as the Z3, it emits some creaky sounds if squeezed, the back of the phone can get scratched if you place it on a harsh surface.
-Dimmed screen - not useless in a direct sunlight, but you will have a hard time reading the text on it.
-Not waterproof - unfortunately it's not as resilient as your ex-friend's head, you shouldn't try to flush it down the toilet.
-No stereo speakers - not like it is really needed on a mobile phone imo, but still.
So the way I see it... if you like small screens, perfect performance, topnotch battery life and water resistance, go for Z3C. But if these things aren't that crucial for you, then you won't be disappointed with LG's flagship child... oh wait, isn't G4 out already? Too lazy to check it, but this can only result in one thing - price drop.

Thanks for your opinion, I've been using the G3 for 1 week or so and I got exactly that, 4-5 hours SOT and at the end of the day you had to charge it. The worse part of the G3 in my opinion it is that it was too big and this made even worse the fragile/slipery feeling.
The camera are great in both smartphones, but just today I saw one which was even more amazing, the Microsoft Lumia 640 XL. I had it a while and besides 5.7 inch it felt very solid and comfortable. Now I'm between going full retard and buy the 640 XL for 200€ or the z3 compact for 350€. Both are the best in battery performance and camera (although 640XL goes a bit higher on both due to wp). But z3 compact being so smal and so good camera and battery...

Maybe it's just me and my sticky hands, but I haven't had any problems holding it. Never experienced any OMG-GONNA-DROP-IT scenarios (just being overly careful after shattering my last Samsung...). Moreover, I heard that the Z3C is more prone to being dropped due to the glass on the back... yet I'm not sure, the one I played with had some anti-theft gizmos attached to its back, so I couldn't compare :d.

Yea, Lumias are great photo-taking devices, but you would have to settle for Windows Phone, which is... well, let's say that not everybody likes it. But it's your call, as an Android fanboy I would, of course, choose the Xperia, even though it's photo capabilities may be a bit behind Lumias.

How is the phone in 2017?

Hello everyone, just a few questions before I buy this phone:
1. How is the phone this year? - reception, screen on time, etc.
2. How is the battery life? Will I need to replace? I had z5c but wasn't happy with the battery and over heating...
3. Is the reception still good? Camera?
4. I've been reading some reviews about glass cracking and screen coming off because of the glue wearing out, is that true?
I'm buying brand new but still interested in your input. Thanks!
As a guy who is now waiting for his new LG G6 I can say some final words about my Xperia Z3 Compact before I sell it:
Reception - very nice, no problems with the signal at all.
Screen on time - non-root, bluetooth always on, mobile data always on, streaming with spotify, Android Wear watch always connected - ~4,5 - 5 hours. Android Marshmallow killed the Sony's wonderful STAMINA mode so the SOT is just... average.
Performance - very, very nice. Never had any problems with the speed AS LONG AS THE PHONE STAYED COOL. What do I mean?
The heat... - because the components are arranged in pretty DUMB way (I'm an electronic's service specialist and this is my opinion), the CPU and other heat-generating components are right under the display, then there is PCB and then the battery. On Marshmallow the phone tends to overheat pretty quickly and it's hard to cool it down sometimes especially when you are in urge of charging the phone... Good luck... This brings me to:
The GPS - AWFUL. AWFUL. AWFUL. Sony messed up the construction of the phone, the GPS antenna connectors are not properly touching the copper plates on the antenna itself which causes the GPS work like S.H.*.T. . Sorry for the offensive words but imagine Google Maps telling you to turn left... 300 meters after the corner. Your marker stays in one position, the phone is searching for the GPS, the position changes and the marker freezes again. Repeat it infinitely amount of times. I fought with this crap for more than a year now, just got the phone from the Service Center, they changed some parts and the problem remains the same so I decided to sell it and try another manufacturer.
Overall battery life is pretty good on MM as long as you have a brand new device which should be cheap now. On KitKat it's MUCH better but you lose some functionality.
Camera and photo quality - NO. Absolutely NO. After SIX YEARS of being loyal I will NEVER choose Sony over any other smartphone manufacturer as long as they will keep their VERY aggressive post processing in photos. I miss my Xperia T which took much better photos in terms of... pretty much everything except the resolution. Many people may disagree with me but check the tests. Sony tends to squeeze much more pixels in the same sized sensor as their other 12-13-16 megapixel sensors which are much better in LG, Samsung, Xiaomi phones etc. Every time new Sony flagship came out, I checked the camera quality by myself f.e. in the store or with help of my friends who bought the specific model. Compared to Z3C it's slightly different, but the overall problem remains the same. It's really sad their sensors are the best on the market but their smarphone's cameras are just... meh. And don't look at DxOMark results, look at real-life tests, GSMarena photo comparison tool etc.
Glass cracking, glue coming off - this problem affected early Z3C models from 2014, in 2015 they mostly fixed this problem. The same comes to glue comin off. Mine never had any problems at all, the phone was always sealed perfectly.
If you want to be loyal to Sony, buy Z3C, but if you're still not sure... think twice.
Yes, if romcio47 advise in the same way like he advised me.. don't listen to him. He said that I should not buy Xperia (pointing nearly the same reasons like in his post) so i bought... iPhone. Now I'm unhappy with that I spent a lot of money for a phone that have 16gb of memory, poor battery life and I'm always interrupted on street.
If you were not happy with your x5c, don't buy worse phone
Reception - haven't had any problems
Screen on time - I use LineageOS and I didn't really measure the screen on time, the last time I checked it passed 4 hours and that includes Snapchat,Facebook,Messenger,YouTube, music listening and playing 8 Ball Pool.
Performance - The performance on Lineage is amazing haven't had literally any lag, only needed to change the profile to performance in battery settings since my phone overheats like a b*tch and when it would get hot in normal profile it would thermal throttle so much(but this is just my unit because I saw people having much better temperatures)
Camera - In my opinion I think the camera is okay nothing special to be honest for me on Lineage it does take decent photos, only the colour is a bit off.,but I am not the biggest fan of the front camera, quality wise it is good but I wish it had wide angle lens like the Galaxy S6 or S5
Glass cracking and glue coming off - well I didn't have any issues with the glass cracking itself but from my experience the screen cracks very easily when it falls,I already had two screen replacements in a year because it fell, and when the glass cracks it kills the touch digitizer as well.
About the glue coming off,I didn't have problems with the screen itself, but the back glass started to come off,but I think this is because my device overheated so much on so many occasions the glue probably got very weak.
If you ask me,I would only buy the Z3 Compact as a replacement phone in case the main phone breaks to be honest,it does have qualities definitely for a daily driver and I do use it currently as a daily driver, but when my contract expires gonna pick up a LG G6,feels pretty compact but has a killer camera and a solid screen.
I am not going to sell it,going to keep it since it is a very good phone and not worth selling,as I said it is perfect to be a replacement phone.
Thanks guys! Really appreciate your input. I had a z5c and sold it for an iPhone SE, then sold it for a Leeco Pro 3. I really miss compact phone, so I will definitely think about this matter! I am currently looking at X compact as well
Samsung A3 2017
One hand Size
WP
well cameras
a good battery
OLED
Sony Slim 5" works to me too, but not WP like z3 and z5 family.
iPhone 7 is ****ing perfect, and yu will be happy when yu see the taller iPhone 8. No more One hand device.
Z3c/Z5c Still the battle with iPhone 7 in >4,8" screens with WP resistence, now with A3 as a good choice.

I have been using the phone in Glove mode for the past 6 months due to the touchscreen being unresponsive. As of yesterday, even Glove mode isnt working for the back and home buttons! Although I have liked the phone otherwise, this has seriously put me of getting another Sony phone in the future. Ive only had the phone over 2 years. My previous Moto ran for 4 years before I upgraded.
