[Q] Screen Replacement? - Asus Transformer TF701

I need help finding a screen replacement for my TF701. It got dropped this weekend and the screen cracked. Not the LCD part (no bleeding of colors or loss of functionality) so I guess it's just the "digitizer" right? Can anyone help me in finding replacement screen that will fit this? All I seem to be finding are for the TF300 and TF100 series. Is there any cross compatibility?
Also, any guides on how to replace would be helpful as well.

Cracked Screen

Hey,
Just looking for some advice where I should go for a cheap solution on how to fix my phone. Basically, everything still works great! Apart from the big crack, the screen doesn't seem to have been damaged (eg. All the pixels look fine, touch still works, only glass/plastic panel is cracked)
I'm actually really impressed by how it took such a hard hit and the device works fine, the screen didn't even smash! Basically it nudged in between my car seat where you close the door, didn't realise it fell out my pocket and closed the door (you could imagine it would be a hard hit) and the phone lives.
If I just needed the glass replaced, can it be done DIY? Or should I not bother and give it to a service centre? I got it from 3 but I know they'll probably overcharge me for something like this..
Any suggestions welcome, thanks!
if the damage is only to the exterior screen then you may want to consider getting this:

be carful! the screen from my firlfreidns diamond is broken too and I had ordered one of those touchscreens... but the screen which comes has no "window" for the frontcamera and after disassembling the phone I saw that it is NOT POSSIBLE to remove the touchscreenglas from the frame.
Replacement LCD & Digitiser
I recently replaced an lcd and digitiser on a HTC Touch Diamond. I bought the complete screen (lcd & digitiser) as one pre-assembled unit from a guy on Ebay (£34.99). Fits straight into the front of the unit frame. I don't think you can remove just the digitiser because it is stuck onto the LCD, and the LCD itself is very fragile. Disassembly is fairly straight forward if you've got the right tools.
Thanks for all your help guys! I've just been bogged down with work so havn't been able to get back here for awhile.
I've taken some time to look into the webiste and others, decided to just order it off ebay in the end anyways. However, taking note from the previous 2 posts, would I be wasting my time ordering just the digitiser itself? I would assume that's what HerrVorragend also meant by "that it is NOT POSSIBLE to remove the touchscreenglas from the frame."
If so, why do they bother selling them online separately? I guess I won't really find an answer, just seems stupid to me. Anyways, guess I'm stuck purchasing both LCD + Digitiser but as a final question, does anyone have any guidelines as how I should replace this myself? I'm very paranoid about this sort of thing because it's only 1 month old, however, I have also replaced an LCD on my old Nokia 6280 before using a step-by-step picture guide online.
Don't think I'd have much luck finding one for this model, hey.. haha.
Once again, thanks!
Double posted, sorry.

If you google for HTC Diamond Service Manual, that will help greatly with assembly and disassembly - there are also a couple of videos on Youtube. From my experience the most tricky part is re-connecting the two flex connectors when you re-install the main board. I use the back of a pair of tweezers to slide underneath the connector carefully. If you are nervous about doing it and happy to cover postage costs, I can replace the LCD for you - PM me for details and I'll see what i can do.

[Q] Replacing digitizer on I9000

Hi, the other day I dropped my Galaxy S I9000 on the concrete and shattered the digitizer. The screen still works alright and the touch portion of the screen still works 100%, but there's a few big cracks in the screen.
Optus want to charge me $150+ (I don't have insurance on it plus it's "out of warranty" because I flashed 2.2 on it) while a repairman in Melbourne quoted $150 neat (but couldn't do it because their main tech was away). I've seen a few sellers on eBay selling these parts for $99 with a mini toolkit but I'm not sure if they are the Super AMOLED that is in the original phone or just an LCD screen that may or may not have the same resolution or quality
Has anyone replaced the screen on an I9000? From what I can gather, the screen and the digitizer are one so you can't buy a digitizer only. I've also seen that the connecting ribbon on the phone is glued into place and you must be very careful when removing it.
Any thoughts are welcome. I can still use the phone just fine, but I don't want to risk any further damage to the screen.

digitizer only available here
I had the same problem. Found this but haven't had it delivered or tried to fix it yet. You managed to find/fit one yet? I'm worried that it will be had to separate the screen and digitizer, will let you know how i get on.

[Q] cracked screen - need whole screen replacement unit?

Dropped my lovely Note from hand height onto the floor and the screen has cracked like a spider's web.
LCD underneath works fine, still touch responsive and no other damage as far as I can make out.
I hear that the glass is bonded to the LCD making DIY replacement tricky. But whole screen replacement units are really expensive - and the LCD bit is undamaged.
What are my options here?
here's a guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1487716&highlight=cracked+glass there's another one floating around if you search for it
EDIT: found the other one http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1609937&highlight=cracked+glass
That's looks a bit too involved for me. Local Fonefix shop offered same day repair for £139.
Painful, but quick and easy!

[Q] Cracked Screen

Hey guys,
I've cracked the screen on my S3 19305T. The buttons and screen actually work perfectly its just the glass screen that is broken. After doing some research I have found multiple sources where people say you can just replace the outer glass screen.
What my question is -
Is the i9300 outer screen the same as the i9305? I am looking at purchasing this but want to make sure its the same for i9305 - I have found a few ebay sellers who just have the glass screen for around $20AUD but need to make sure it fits before purchasing. Any other advice or feedback will be greatly appreciated also.
Your advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I don't know if I need the glass screen with the 'sensor signal ribbon' or without for the i9305T?
Can anyone please confirm?
Not 100% but I do believe they are the same. Doubt you'd need the ribbon unless you cut the original while removing the glass so be careful.
Edit: Remember that you are only replacing the glass. There are no wires or anything connected. The digitizer and LCD are under it.
Hey mpeyrac, I wondered how you got along trying to replace the GS3 glass. I got myself into a similar situation this friday night...
Searching and asking around leads to contradictory advice: someone say the whole front needs replacing (including display) others have mentioned just the lens...
Cheers

I would be 99.999% sure its like the I9300 and i have seen a youtube video of a guy only replacing the glass only but this is harder to do and its a really slow and tedious procedure.
do a youtube search you will see this guy in the states doing it. And yes it is also same screen for the US devices
The info I have from a distributor is that Samsung do NOT supply the glass on it its own so I would be a little cautious as to whether you would actually be getting gorilla glass.
I have also seen horror stories of people tryign to replace the glass and completelly srewing up the display. It is also a nightmare to get off.
I appreciate it is much more costly but I would actually buy the whole screen. In the UK you can get them for about £150 but you just do all the work from the back, move your circuit boards over. The whole screen assembly comes with the metal bezel so if you wanted to you could actually buy the black version.
Also, the 9305 and 9300 are different so make sure you get the 9305 version.

Lol, "cracking the display" while attempting the glass cheap fix is not a problem, you will be replacing whole screen unit anyways if that happens, if you succeed like many people, you save yourself some hundred bucks.
Down to budget and preference!
I have the budget so I would not even consider just replacing the glass, others may not but then if something goes wrong they will not have any choice.
But my main point is that Samsung do not supply just the glass on its own so imho you will probably not be getting gorilla glass.

[Q] Replacing a Xperia Z1 Cracked Digitizer

Hello everyone!
I bought a Xperia Z1 two weeks ago, and it was the best phone I have ever had.
However my idiot brother Managed to crack the Digitizer a few days back, the display is still working and the phone powers up but the touch panel is unresponsive.
(He was playing with one of those Heavy Snake Egg magnets, he threw the magnet into the air, and landed right on my phone. I'm surprised the Display is still working. )
Anyways, I was wondering if anyone here has replaced only the Touch Panel. I know on the Xperia Z1 its fused with the LCD, however with a machine like the Scotle PR-1000 its possible to separate the LCD from the touch panel.
Here is the link to a video showing the process: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h8bZi3FreMk
Now I have a few questions such as:
-With this method, wont the LCD display be scratched up as well?
-When I replace the touch screen with a new touch panel using this method, will it look normal? Or will it look like it has been opened and repaired?
-With a new digitizer, is the phone still waterproof capable? (I dont really care about the waterproof capabilities that much anyways.)
Thanks!
Can anyone help me?
You could just replace the entire display module, digitizer, LCD, and all. This would be the cleaner and easier way of replacing it with fewer potential problems. As far as waterproofing goes, I am not sure. Those are sort of uncharted waters (no pun intended) as far as repairs go. If I were you, I would assume not just to be on the safe side, until further knowledge presented itself. I hope this info helps!
FOr the past few days thats what I was thinking.
Especially since where I live most Cellphone "technicians" are just people with a very limited knowledge of electronics, and would most probably mess up the phone even further.
after placing a few calls to some shops I managed to find a replacement LCD+Digitizer+Frame, but I do not know how good the quality of the replacement unit would be.
Dear WEM97 and other users,
I have the same problem as Akash434. Could you please briefly elaborate on what the (potential) problem could be with just replacing the Digitizer. I can't really decide what to replace the LCD+Digitizer or only Digitizer. I understand replacing the whole LCD unit along is a far, far easier process. But cost wise it's also almost the double (atleast where i live).
Upon removing the Digitizer, should the old glue be removed (if any). What kind of glue should I use to stick the new Digitizer? Will u see that there was glue used? These are just a few questions I am struggling with.
Your help is greatly appreciated.
PS: I apologize for any grammar mistakes. English is not my native language.
you can't do this without a professional machine

This is my video and the description will send you to the links to fix it yourself
Otherwise get a shop to fix it... although most regular shops won't fix it... or get sony to fix it if you wanna continue your warranty
Place the phone on a heatable-3dprinter-bed and warme it up the temperature you want - digitizer was falling of the display last time i repaired my z1. I heated it up to disassemble. Now it is cracked again and i just don´t know how to glue the digitizer on... If i would change digitizer
