ChompSMS
Google Hangouts. It is able to do Group MMS without glitches/issues.
I've also used Textra. It was the fastest sms/mms app I ever used and it also does Group MMS without glitch/issues.

Also fed up with the crap stock app, I got on here and tried Textra first.. It's good, clean, but lacking a couple of features I really want. First that comes to mind is message count option; I prefer this to be shown in my conversation list.
I ended up with Chomp, and so far it's working great.. with a ton of customization, which I like also! No trouble with MMS; in fact it displayed images out of my MMS's that the stock client would never display.. Old stuff in conversations, not just new messages.

Question, why is my messaging count, that comes up when you check data useage so high? I swear its much more then what I use in reguards to sms/mms. Do more things go into it?

I noticed the same thing. I did some testing a while back and after i had sent right around 100 it showed 180 something.
Could they be long messages that get split?

Don't received messages count towards that number as well?

Apps
Some apps that you sideload, from third party markets, can send text messages to the app creator that contain your user data, these messages dont show up in inbox/outbox or sms watchers because the are hidden with a "invisible cloak" this is what i read in an article about the saftey of android apps. I cannot recall where i read it
I dont use 3rd party markets or sideloading and I have very few apps.....

I have my Note 3 rooted, and miss the quick reply from the CM 10.2 mms apk. Anyway to install that on a rooted Note 3?

I am trying out Textra SMS, Its pretty nice. I was it had a quick compose feature. Other then that, only thing I don't like is I don't get the popup on the lock screen.
Look for 8sms in the play store. I would link it but I have too few posts. It resembles stock/CM texting and has the quickmessage pop up you were asking for.

8sms works great, for those wanting to send mms make sure you go into the apps settings and set it up.

Hi
Could anyone help me receive messages on my gear from my note 3?
I did all settings in gear manager on note 3. I could receive all ( calls, emails etc) but no messages.
Is there any other setting I must do before?
Thx a lot

Sometimes not that easy. I've had messages checked under notifications in settings. And I haven't received 1 SMS notification since day one. I only use stock SMS app.
Kinda. Annoying
And kinda gave up awhile ago. Just like my svoice won't work. Tried everything. Can't find others with issue.

if your screen is on, the sms won't go to the watch. You need to either check if there are wakelocks or install modded message apk (search in this forum) that doesn't turn screen on when you receive a message
Trying to see if pebble can get notifications only from SMS within the hangouts app while gchat is active as well. As of now, I've had to go back to a 3rd party SMS or a 3rd party notification, wasn't sure if I missed something between the pebble and SMS thru hangouts. Thanks

I actively use hangouts and get SMS and MMS fine.

You're getting MMS notifications on your pebble? Hell I'm doing this whole thing wrong lol

You just have to switch to hangouts in pebble options

When I get MMS in hangouts, it just says 'Picture'.
What am I doing wrong?
That's what you are supposed to get. You won't get a picture on your watch.

This sounds like an extremely obvious problem with an extremely obvious solution but the thing is my Nexus 4 handled it like a champ. What gives?
As always thanks in advance and love you all!

Each device will work very differently. You can not compare it to the n4. Having that many messages restored is never advised.
Bat cave One
obviously it would lag with 17000 messages on HTC Sense Messaging app
Nexus 4 Stock Messaging app is quite light, that's why it handles them smoothly; IMO :silly:
why not deleting some messages
try any other messaging app from PlayStore, like 8sms
I use chomp on the Nexus 4 and now on this as well. It is strange that chomp will lag with the One and Not the Nexus 4 which is technically inferior.

Its not if your running a non sense rom. The nexus was made to run AOSP roms as to where the one was not. Also your transfering them from one device to another. This can cause issues due to diff in the system.
I see so I have no other choice but to delete my texts?

You could try other apps to see how they fair but in the end yes I think your gonna end up deleting some of the texts. To be honest none of the sms apps are really made to handle a messaging data base that size. I have noticed after about 500 they start lagging.
Thanks man I'm going to delete them all now.

Out of curiosity, how long did it take you to amass 17,000(!) texts?
3 years haha!
