Touch less Control Bug? - Moto X Q&A

Is there a Touch less Control Bug?
Whenever I use it my phone turns off after displaying the result & i then have to hold down the power button for about 10 secs before the phone will reboot.
Anyone having similar problems?
I have updated to the latest TC version.

Nope, first time heard of this problem. Try clearing out the cache, uninstalling updates, and reinstalling it.

It seems to be Google now. I uninstalled updates & launched Google search, after I get results if i press home button or screen of the phone shuts down.

Well I have reset the phone & installed my apps again & the same thing is happening.
Not sure which app could be causing the problem.
I'm slowly loosing interest in this phone. I really liked it but now it's becoming a pain in the ass.

Well, it seems like you're the only one with this issue; thus it must be some sort of defect. Call up your service provider/moto to get a replacement.
Personally, I think no other phone (even the new htc one) comes close to the satisfaction I get using the Moto X. Best of luck with whatever you do with your phone!

Well I didn't solve this problem. It only occurs on the Moto x.
So I've resigned it to scrap heap.
Lesson learn't. No more Motorola for me.

I fail to see how this is Motorola's fault. You probably had an app or setting interfering with Touchless Control.

I think it was more to do with Google search somehow. But it only happened on this device & even when I had nothing else installed.

Well, I had a similar issue, except the phone would shut off after saying my password. (It will prompt you to say or type your password if you have one set). I forget what the problem was(I think it was something to do with a combination of immersive mode, windowed apps, and altered DPI settings) but even after uninstalling & wiping it still persisted. I ended up having to wipe the device & start over to get rid of it. So, there's that.

Please Help! "com.google.process.gapps" issue

I'm getting a pop-up with "Unfortunately the process com.google.process.gapps has stopped" appear often when using my new Xperia SP. Having a look around I see that a lot of different phones are having this issue and most of the "solutions" seem to be the same: Go to Settings, then All, then Reset App Preferences... or Disable and Enable a number of various apps. I've seen Download Manager, Google Services Framework, Bookmark Sync, etc...
I've tried all of what I found short of doing a Factory Reset or sending the phone off for repairs, of which those that have done the former say that it doesn't fix the issue anyways.
Is there anyone here that has gotten the same issue with the Xperia SP, or at least with a more recent Xperia phone on 4.1.2?

From Canada and the date on the phone is correct.
Thankfully it's not something that appears every 5-10 seconds like I've seen some people report, but it still gets annoying seeing it over and over.

[Q] Missing Flashlight

My wife has an ATT nexus 6 stock rom and unrooted. I recently installed an over the air update. Ever since then the icon for the flash light app in the notifications area and the one to swap the cameras in the camera app have gone missing. A search of Google and these forums turned up nothing. Any ideas?
Try a simple reboot, this has happened to me before and rebooting usually fixes it.
Rebooted several times, wiped the cache partition, even performed a full factory reset. Issue still persists.
After the factory the camera app does not even show up in the app drawer. Any help / ideas would be greatly appreciated.

Only option in the play store was to uninstall. So I uninstalled and reinstalled it. Now the application show back up but I am back to the original problem. The camera is stuck on front facing and there is no way to switch it. Between that and the flashlight not working it acts like it is not recognizing the camera/led on the back of the phone.

possibly a hardware issue then, especially if you cant switch from front facing, and an issue with the flash. id try to get it rma'd.
The odd thing is it worked flawlessly until the OTA update.

Google play store problem

Does anyone have problems downloading with google play??
The problem happened around 3 days ago. I was trying to download something when it said "connection timed out, please try again after some time". After a few hours still I cannot load google play nor download anything
I have tried all the solutions possible for google play, service and framework ( clear cache, uninstall updates, remove accout, reboot, clear dalvik) but the connection only works in the beginning then after like 2 mins then "connection timed out" again appears.
For sure my internet connection is strong and I'm sure my ISP is not blocking google play because I can access it via web. What's weird is when I use a VPN, google play all of a sudden works flawlessly.. can anyone help me in diagnosing where exactly is the problem?
I have the same exact problem on my galaxy note 8!. My Google play store won't load anything if I'm on Wi-Fi or on cellular Data!!
But with the VPN it works!
I had a similar problems. I got the Samsung Disconnect Pro app when it was free. I installed that then had the same problems. Turned it off and everything was good. After a day turned it on and now working correctly.

Try looking at your power options, it might be sleeping wifi (im presuming it happening on wifi). The VPN thing might solve it cause VPN usually does not sleep wifi properly

It's not something that turns up on the battery saving list, it's a power saving feature
under
Settings-->Connections-->Wi-Fi-->Advanced (top right hand corner menu)
make sure Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep is set to always
if i recall moderate battery saving will switch this off

I had this exact same issue on my note 8. I blame the smart switch app on these issues. I usually always do a fresh install but this time tried to be fancy and tried that. Nothing.
Anyway thanks for the inputs guys, I found the culprit and it has to do with an app I downloaded and installed outside the playstore coz it was not available in my country. Once I uninstalled it the playstore came back to normal.

If you don't mind can you disclose what app was causing you issues, I'm deleting, restarting and clearing my play store memory hoping to solve this issue but no luck so far
ok long shot but try going into

to see if there are any apps messing with your wi-fi
Thank you... the history is clear there is nothing. But that's probably because I keep restarting the phone. Now the Google play store home page won't even load

P20 Pro Random Reboot / Self Restart

Hi All, I have been experiencing random reboot on my device P20 Pro. I have already cleared system cashes but still the reboot happens. Does anyone of you experience it as well? Is there any way to fix it? Thank you
Had this occasionally with every android phone I've ever had. Nothing to worry about unless it starts doing it very regularly and even then a factory reset should sort it. Unlikely to be a hardware issue.
One or more apps have likely crashed in the background and caused a Kernel Panic, causing the phone to reboot...a bit like a Blue Screen of Death on a PC.

Might be worth a reset just to clean things up.

I just reset my phone. I will monitor it for now. thanks for the help
Happens to me too, about twice a week. Very unlikely to be a hardware issue, since I've had it happen on two different P20 Pro phones. Factory reset does not work.
So now I'm removing one app at a time... Fitbit was not the culprit. NEXT!

If someone with this issue wants to compare apps privately, I'm up for that. My e-mail is my username here + gmail.
France24 was not the culprit.
Event logger app tells me the system kills the Huawei Mobile Services and Messages (sms) apps quite often, even right after restart. Did not happen just before reboot though, nothing did.
Had this happening to me since 128 update, about 2-3 times a week. Pretty annoying to be honest.
My phone still reboot itself once or twice a day after motherboard replacement. Previously can be multiple times like 5 or 6 times.
However, no issues when using Google 2 pixel.

What was the reason for replacing the motherboard? Was it due to the auto restart/reboot problem or some other fault? Thanks

After I factory reset my phone, the auto reboot problem does not arise that often. I think is a software issue.... I will be sending my phone in to service.

You wouldn't expect it on a Pixel phone as it is optimized from head to toe
I'm also seeing this issue since the last firmware update. There's no common denominator. It happens when updating Facebook statuses, replying to texts, interacting with notifications and even trying to reply to this post. I'm loathed to do a factory reset as it takes me ages to reset my phone back up. I've reached out to Huawei on twitter to see where that gets me.

It won't make any different even after you factory reset the phone. Haiz I believe it is due to the software that caused the phone to auto reboot.
Are any of you running gboard as your keyboard. It's quite often that I'm using the keyboard I'm seeing the reboots?
So since changing gboard to manually managed the phone as been more stable. This might be famous last words but I've seen no reboots for the last 3 days.

Just to update, I actually serviced my phone with Huawei last week and got it 2 days back. It seems like they didn't solve the issue for me. The random c just started yesterday again.
Can we say it's a software / firmware issue that is causing the random reboot?

I'm saying boot into safe mode, then, keep track of which apps you enable, perhaps one of the user apps is causing it.
Naturally,if you're in safe mode & it persists w/o re-enabling any user installed apps, then you have a defective phone.

not aware that safe mode allowed you to cherry pick which apps you wanted to be enabled or not. from my experiance, all user apps were disabled and that was it. What is doable in regular mode is disable all your apps and do the same thing enable or disable. but to me it would be much more conveniant to wipe everything. then if the issue is gone, reinstall app by app till you hit the culprit. but anyways to each his own.

because the feature he has issues with is a system level feature and i would doubt an app could affect it. and if a system setting was changed then wiping is a sure way to get that reverted.

Package Disabler Pro is a user installed app & it has profound effects on system apps functions (depending on what the user disables) ,so,that's where I'm coming from.
Using safe mode is a natural step in troubleshooting before resorting to a factory reset, regardless of what is assumed to be the obvious next step.
