Every AOSP or non Sense/GPE ROM I install had issues with performance in heavy games such as Asphalt 8, no matter what kernel I use our how much I overclock the GPU/CPU. Are there any suggestions or fixes for this out there?
Thanks in advance.

I have tried this 10000 times. When im on gingerbread and run big games like mwc3 or shadowgun, it lags very much. I need nvidia plugin to run them smooth. On ics, it's like havin a sgs3

You need nvidia plugin? Is that something I can download from the play store, or is it chainfire?
It's CHAINFIRE FIRST INSTALL THE APP then search for nvidia pulgins in my opinion try an ICS rom like cm9 or slim ICS so you can play all your favourite games freely without lagging

I quite agree with this topic: I'm currently running stock 2.3.6 XXJVU ROM with CF-Root kernel, so no optimization on the part of the CPU. Games such as Contract Killer Zombies start to lag when too many enemies are displayed at the same time...
I'm thinking of upgrading to the ICS TiramiSlim RC2, I read and also got feedback from a friend, and it's one of the most efficient ICS ROMs so far...
cm9 nightly ... more than excellent
Why would ics improve gaming?

None of the GB roms, including cm7, use HW acceleration?
Sent from my MB860 using XDA
seriously
gaming in ics is better now
try slimics or sgs333 or cm9 . gaming is just smouth
I have used Slim ICS, and as stated above, it works very nicely.
Gamerzrom v11 (GB) also works very well. Temple Run goes smoothly on that rom if you wanna stay on GB.

Nope. HW acceleration didn't start until ICS.

Hu guys I've been searching forum but there are so many roms and threads so I need to open up this thread for my i9000
I'm currently running SlimBean 3.1 with Semaphore 2.8.0s kernel and rom is fast and stable and I get ~150-200ram free. I have just installed GTA Vice City and it's running really slow and lags. My personal opinion is that Galaxy S can run this game without lag and other heavy games but it requires GB rom that can do this.
So which one rom GB do you find best for lag-free games and for best battery and for every day use?
I think that all JB roms use a lot of ram and that causes laging in games, so GB is best for games but which one ?
I want to play some games like Modern Combat, TDKR and others but to play them smooth. Is that possible on this phone? I think it's beast but this games are new and heavy on resources.
So if someone would answer on my question I would be greatful.

For gaming you can use devil kernel or semaphore kernel(I recommend the first) and use paranoid Android by droidjam: )

So I found this rom in the list of custom roms for the I9000...
Its a GB rom designed for gaming apparently. 385MB ram. Try it out

My gs1 is running on cm10.1.
While playing simple games like Temple run it lags pretty bad making gameplay annoying. Not running any apps in the background. Why do I have this? Any fix?

Try live overclocking, which gives more power to CPU and GPU, or try Slim Bean RC1 - Temple run 2 is really smooth, and AnTuTu gives 4800-5100 points (over 2000 points in 3D), so it's the best ROM for now.

Change your Rom to Vanilla Rootbox. Temple Run 2 runs lag free without OC/OV. Best Rom for SGS1 based on my experience from countless Rom flashings.
Device: GT-i9000
Rom: JB 4.2.1 Vanilla Rootbox
Kernel: Mackay 0.240
Instead of overclocking your general cpu speed you should try to use the app PerApp. It lets you set min and max cpu speed and other stuff for each individual app.
If you are a gamer then try gamerzrom, its the best by far

Aways Xylon ROM has great performance and customizability. Its well worth a look but unfortunately aways has discontinued ROM development.

C-Rom Mix by Aways is great take a look!

Im running helly bean and I can say it's the fastest rom I ever flashed, it's smooooth as hell
also I o.c my phone to 1320 mhz with 408 mb of ram, it's stable and running games without lagging . you should try it

If you want a ROM that run Games smooth, i recommand you to take a look at the "CyanAOSP".
I already tested some roms and i really like CyanAOSP, soo smooth and verry good for Gaming.
Tested on: Asphalt 7 , Real Fotbal 2013, Gangstar City, Subway Surfers, Temple Run, Asphalt 6, Earn to Die, Drag Racing, Need For Speed HP, Fifa 12 , Sky Safari and many others, No lag. and get 4400+ on Antutu.
All jb ROMs are smooth;specifically AWAYS ROMs.

Agree. Have been on this ROM for the longest time since it launched.
I downloaded modern combat 4 and whenever I shoot or whenever someone else shoots it lags/ fps drops quite badly. I am running stock rom with iodak kernel. My brothers nexus 7 runs the game fine. Is there any rom or kernel that you could suggest?

heard Cyanogenmod was pretty good for gaming, try that and if it still lags, try custom kernels over it.
