Hello,
I have the Z2 tablet and want to probably buy the official Sony keyboard with the case. But I cannot find it anywhere right now so the question is if anybody has experience with it or if there is a better solution, better keyboard with the case on the market? I searched amazon etc. but still...
It hasn't been released by Sony yet. Just announced. Will probably be available to buy in the next month or so. I want it too.
Bump to see if this is available yet, can't find it anywhere.
Assume we are talking about the bluetooth keyboard.
On the polish sony mobile site, it states coming soon, so I;d imagine a few weeks to a month before being available.
I couldn't wait for the Sony official case, so I recently bought this keyboard case off of eBay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=111346229890
I am really liking it so far, especially given the low price (1/5 of the asking price for the official Sony case). The quality on the case is quite good, feels like leather but it's pleather. The stand works fine, the keyboard connects without a hitch, and I don't feel too cramped on this mobile keyboard. Another bonus is the auto wake magnet when opening and closing the case. I'll update later with a more in-depth review and pictures after using this some more.

Great, let us know your experience in a week time or so. I was looking at the keyboards today. There are some of them:
on ebay or amazon, I have found like 5 types. But cannot post the url here, the system is blocking it.
i hope they come out with a keyboard like the one on the MS Surface.
I bought this keyboard. Its a bargain, good quality.

Both work perfectly together.

well it does look like a laptop now !
I believe they are launching it soon....
Sony Xperia Bluetooth® Keyboard with Cover Stand BKC10
it does not seem like it is a case for the tablet PLUS a keyboard. It is a case/stand PLUS the keyboard. So if you were to get this, you have to carry your tablet and this keyboard separately. and the keyboard can be detached from the keyboard case.
edit: i guess they have scratched the idea of this early concept that they have made, probably inconvenient and scratches the tablet much, and more universal with any other products with bluetooth:
Hm, I will wait a little longer. I need keyboard and good mouse on holiday which I will go on 17. July. So I hope that in 2-3 weeks there will maybe even the official one...
Btw. what bluetooth mouse would you recommend?

They should get it in 3-5 days here http://www.gearzap.com/sony-xperia-z2-tablet-cover-stand-with-keyboard-bkc50-black.html but you know........
Hi guys I will be a new owner as well in a few days. I was considering this keyboard but one thing is not clear to me.
Is the case a different one whic allows the keyboard to be stored inside when closed?
Or it needs to be stored separately?

theres two option for you IF you can order them from somewhere
BKC10: keyboard with keyboard case- which means you have to carry the keyboard and the tablet separately. This will use it as a stand with any blue tooth device
BKC50: keyboard with tablet/keyboard case- which means you will only carry one keyboard and one tablet in a tablet/keyboard case. This hybrid case is made specially for Z2 tablet.
so if you dont want two separate cases, get the BKC50.
waterproof?
has anyone tested if the keyboard is waterproof?
I cant find any info...
Did anyone actually manage to get their hands on one of these yet? I haven't been able to locate any..

There are at least two massive threads about this keyboard already, it's NOT alumiium, it's plastic. Other than that most folk seem to like it.
New Version
If you have a look around you can find that there is new version of this keyboard which includes a TAB key just above the Q.

That's good to know. I wonder if the lettering is more permanent on newer versions. Mine have mostly rubbed off with use.

The amazon link I posted above has the tab key (at least mine came with it anyway) even though their picture does not show it and the lettering seems pretty good so far.

Bloody hell, Amazon doesn't deliver to my country and I cannot find this one on ebay/elsewhere for the similar price
Out of curiosity, has anyone had any luck performing key-remaps on this? I really like most of the layout, but having an ESC key would be nice aand I think an FN-TAB would work well there ... anyone else?
Enjoying my $18 version. Works great.

Hey - I wanted to show off my latest 3D printed dock, this time for the nexus 10.
I borrowed the design ideas from what I saw posed on here and tried to build off of it.
I think the one unique thing about it is that it is made of glazed ceramic instead of that usual plastic. It is very study and has some nice heft, while keeping 3D printing costs down.
I designed it to be able to keep the nexus docked while in my folio case, since I will snatch it off the stand before heading out the door. However, this will dock with or without the case. (FYI this is my case: http://www.roocase.com/Slim-Fit-Veg...--Black-rooCASE/cat-p/c1000036/p10518806.html)
It is designed for the standard POGO magnetic cable.
I just wanted to get thoughts on this if anyone would be interested in one or what questions you might have about it.
I finally got together my shapeways site where you can order the dock if you're interested.
Let me know what you think, or feel free to post in the thread, thanks!

Thanks again to everyone in this forum for the great ideas!
I guess no one, huh?
I am a little late to the dock party...

Agree. Unfortunate really...and surprising. I've had 3 of these in my family and none had any issues whatsoever. They are all in use and still running pretty darn good! I've compared to newer tablets but this really is still a great tablet. Not sure why this forum is so dead.

That's probably the reason, no issues = no reason to search for a forum to find fixes.
Very nice dock.

Hey! Sorry for the delay, I've been pretty busy with work.
I finally got around to setting up the storefront through Shapeways, and have a link to the stand you can buy directly from there:
http://shpws.me/rY5i
I only selected options for the ceramic material, since plastics would have sent the price over $100.
Let me know what you guys think and if anyone really wants to be a baller and get it made in plastic, I'll add in those options, so just let me know.
I have a just one other tip: I sanded the plastic housing of the POGO cable down just a bit with some sand paper and put a piece of electrical tape on it so when I wedge it in, it stays put on docking and undocking.
Let me know if you guys have any other questions.
thanks!
Ok I know there is a lot of dock and mount out there that are universal, but I was looking for one that works perfectly for the M8.
The only dock that saw that looks really good, is the HTC dock, but I really don't want to pay the HTC price, so my question is, does anyone know of a dock or even just a mount that works as well as the HTC dock without having to pay the HTC price?

Why not get something more universal to use with any phone or any case? You can check out my sig link, just scroll down to car mount reviews, I have a ton of those. Personally, I would highly recommend Arkon Mobile Grip 2 since it's the most minimalistic and can also be converted to attach to a picture tripod. Plus, it has one of the best sticky grip base.

Because I don't think the third party mounts automatically switch the device into Car Mode when connected.
Brodit. You buy a piece for your car and a piece for your phone, so when you switch cars, you buy a new piece for your new car, and when you switch phones you buy a new piece for your new phone.
They're not cheap, but they're built to take a beating and they work for years and years.
Plus, swedish design, yet no EFFING allen key.

This was the email from March 26:
Thank you for contacting us and for your interest in ProClip products.
We are currently designing a holder for the HTC One (m8).
This design process generally takes between 4 and 6 weeks once the design team obtains the device, but can take longer depending on the device.
Once we have a custom holder available for your device we will send you an email with a link to the products.
It sounds like a very boilerplate response, so that must have been all the info he had at the time. My understanding is that ProClip is just Brodit's exclusive US and Canadian vendor.

The clip that fits in the car usually has glue strips, but often combine that with some sort of slip-in-between-the-seams stuff as well. Then you do screw the holder onto the clip, but that's probably not what you meant.
As for expensive... Yes, it gets expensive, but it's very good quality, which is worth it to me at least.
Oh, and here are the products. None of them are in stores yet, though.

I have been using the same iBolt kit since my Galaxy S3. Since then I have used it on the Note 2, Galaxy S4, HTC One and my brand new M8. All worked great as I got the dock-launching plugs for both the Samsungs and the HTC. However I just discovered that if you use the long USB with audio cable designed for the sammy, it will charge the HTC (slowly) but won't launch the dock mode. Which is annoying. I had to pull my deck out to uninstall it, and replace it with a standard USB cable. Now it works like a champ! Though I do wish that HTC would do USB analog audio like Samsung. It made car-integration so much better (quality of sound wise) than over bluetooth.

You would think so, wouldn't you. But my active Brodit mount for a Nexus 4 had problems reliably making a power connection. The metal USB bit slipped down and away from the phone within its moulding.
Brodit could not supply spare parts!!.
I resorted to cutting the usb connector apart and using epoxy resin to put it back together again.
Got the HTC mount this time for my M8!
Repair parts? Couldn't they just ship you a new holder? Seems like a clear warranty issue. That is, if brodit has a warranty, I've never needed to find out, and in Norway our consumer laws are so strong warranty is almost never an issue.

How well does the suction? because one of the thing that i love about the htc mount is the way the suction is design. Does the suction only work on the glass or can it work on the dash as well?
I bought the iBolt xProDock Kit for HTC
I already had the iBolt for the One X+ (was specific for that one, the new one fits almost all htc phones) and it is perfect (now my wife uses it).
The suction works perfect and you can place it on the window screen or the dashboard. It also starts automaticaly the dock mode.y
I bought this a year ago for my GS4 and loved it: iMagnet. I wasn't sure the metal plate would work with the curved back of the M8, but I just bent it a little and it fits perfectly without scratching the device. I use Car Home Ultra and configured it to launch whenever my car's bluetooth connects to it. Works like a freaking charm
Anyone have the official dock yet? I know they're expensive but I'd still like to hear a review of them. Thanks

Hi, I just bought this tablet (wont get it for 3 weeks ), but I wanted to get an opinion on what to look out for. I heard that I don't need to worry about the build date so much since their wasn't many problems with the tablet when it came out? (is that correct??)
Should I look for dead pixels or broken digitizer? Also, was the screen coming out of the tablet an issue also? and was there a way to figure it out before it actually happens?
So, please let me know of any problems I can look out for and how I can detect it. thanks for the help!!

On mine the screen is not properly attached I guess glued around the edge. Its a slight issue but something to look for.
Only real issues that turn up on here is the faulty dock which is fixed with the 201404 edition. You can fix it yourself if you get an earlier model but it will cost you a bit more that way.
Has anyone here had any issues with wifi disconnection problems?
Also, did anyone have any issues with this tablet picking up fingerprints easily like the tf300t?

Can you tell me what your build date on your tablet is? You can find that on the back of the box you had the tablet in.
Also, are you using a custom ROM and unlocked, or are you on normal stock?
Or were you talking about the fingerprints issue?

Why??? There are hardly any issues with the TF701 (tablet only) aside from manufacturing defects you can get with any device you buy. If you don't have those - and they should become obvious just using it normally - enjoy this wonderful toy!
And yes - it's even better on CROMi-X, but good enough on stock that you can just leave it that way if you're not into flashing/unlocking (which would void your warranty).
Open question:
Any suggestion(s) on what you did to enhance your tablet experience? Aside from rooting, that is...
This is (finally) my foray into the tablet market. Have a Note 2 for my phablet, so going to a tablet seemed redundant. Found this for $280 on ebay brand new (reputable, actual company... not just "some seller"). Very excited to get my hands on this when it arrives later this week. Have a 64GB SanDisk microsd coming in too.
No idea what I'm going to use it for, other than web, fantasy football, some other non-essential need(s)...

Well, I am a student in school, so I actually mainly use this tablet to document all my notes using my stylus for writing formulas out and using the keyboard for typing the remainder of the notes. Rooting is really awesome though, you can freeze system updates, you can also install a custom rom so you can have some perfect AOSP goodness (although the stock rom is really close to AOSP). In my personal advice, I would suggest keeping your tablet on 4.3 rather than 4.4.2 since the 4.4.2 has some battery drain problems with its kernal.
Also, if you plan on getting the keyboard, beware, there is alot of defective keyboards around for the Tf701t sadly (you can read all about it all around this forum). Ultimately, just have fun and try to Nvidia Tegrazone games. Also, you can't go wrong with the free walking dead season 1 and 2 in the google play store. Enjoy!!

My tablet went back for replacement because of loose glass. Also keyboard at the same time because of disconnection issues.
They replaced the tablet but sent back the keyboard saying there was no issue.
Sent back the keyboard a second time... Every time i tough the tablet when in dock it disconnects and reconnects. They returned it a second time saying nothing was wrong.
I just gave up on using the keybaord with the tablet and use it to charge the tab when im not near a power plug now.

I use my tablet with the keyboard on a desk only with a mouse like a laptop. I don't have any disconnection issues that way because it's on a steady surface. I carry a tablet stand with me when I want to be portable. However, when I'm flying in a plane, I connect it to the keyboard and keep it shut off until ready to use it so it stays charged. I also use a POETIC brand case that holds a stylus in the back so my tablet experience is a little better. I really like this tablet and keep the keyboard use to a minimum. I was really dismayed when I saw how much I spent on the tablet/keyboard combo and then to have quality control issues with the keyboard. This is how I cope with it.
Please look at the photo I have posted (zoom in to see the details) with this post to the thread. I am referring to the "Wireless Charging Pack" which is actually a cover for the Note 5 from Samsung, which has a battery built into it, which wirelessly charges the phone while the cover is on. The cover only covers the back, not the front (including the camera lens on the back as it contains a battery) but wirelessly charges the phone while it is on the phone (I have read in the description it has a switch on it which allows you to turn the wireless charging on and off, so essentially this is Samsung's version of a Mophie cover). You can use the phone normally (except for the camera of course) while the phone has this on it. The attached photo I got from this link (you have to scroll down a ways to find it): http://www.samsung.com/global/galaxy/galaxy-note5/charging/. Thoughts? It is currently not for sale on the Samsung accessory web site. Does anyone have one and what do they think of it? Does anyone know where to get one?
Looks pretty interesting.

We got a discussion about it going on there but none of the answers you want. the device is still a bit of a mystery as a lot of online retailers are not showing stock.
I am still looking for one as well...

I did live chat with the Samsung Support reps and they said to call the Samsung Support line and I would be able to order one (that they were available). Here is the number: "1-855-SAM-USA1 (1-855-726-8721) 9am – 9pm ET, 7 days a week". Has anyone gotten one that can report on what they think of it?
Price?
I am not ready to order one so I didn't call. Give them a buzz and let us know

I was all about this until it set in that it covers the camera. What a waste. Had it not been for that the form factor on this looks stellar. Oh well...

Yes but you need to think of what is being asked here. With our current technology, batteries must be rectangular to work, and cannot have holes in them. So to have a hole for the camera would be to have to make the battery shorter (and maybe thicker to make up for that) and currently this case already adds alot of thickness as far as I have heard. So there's not much of an alternative! I believe the designers also probably thought it might not be such a big concern as well - because how much more often do you use the phone for other things - other than for the camera - most of the time, right?

They could have used 3 batteries to get around the camera. Would have increased the price a lot i am sure though.
Yes I was thinking that as well.

I live in the US. Not available for shipment here...
http://promo.samsungpromotions.com/giftsoftheseason/
Charging case is included in both pack promotions.
Did you end up getting the wireless charger pack? When you posted the reply about the gift promotion offers I looked and didn't see one... But I looked now again and the offers are no longer there. Last time I talked to Samsung on the phone they said it would be available in January... Samsung is still not offering it on their website, I noticed however, and calling that same Samsung order line I am told it is a 30 minute wait just to talk to someone - so I gave up on that. Anyone have anything on these?
They could have totally have the cut out for the camera. There's an impression for it. They could have just continued and sliced that bad boy open. I got $100 that the next version of it will feature a hole for the camera and flash. Looks good though.
BTW, what the heck color option of a Note 5 is that? That thing looks sexy as hell!!!
