i've restored TA Partition my Sony Z Ultra on my Sony Z1 by wrong
and z1 now is dead .. just red led when i connect it to pc
i tried to flash it via SETOOLS box and it gives me
error while uploading hdr
any solution please ?? :crying:
Nope, it's properly bricked
Sony will know this since minute one
I sometimes imagine their staff at how they read this forum and laugh their asses off...
Even if they replace the phone it is simpler for them to replace the phone than to investigate the issue )
Do someone on this forum even thinks that if sony whant's to find out the cause of a phone's brick they cannot ? They are finding the exact cause of microchip failing and the causes and they are not finding the cause for a simple partition with wrong data that should never fail on a memory that it is OK?
Plus they have signs, on a hard brick i understand that it will double flash the red led ) (did someone thought that they MADE the red flash for this simple reason? to know when the phone has been tampered with?)
@Killer2k8 even if Sony do so, You made a mistake with your phone and there is no way to resurrect it, or it was a gift from somebody from your family or you spend half of your salary, and you bricked the phone just to get root, the last chance is to play Stupid. (and I don't advice nobody to break the law)

Ask help on the guys from SETools. Ask them to help you locate the testpoint of your device(you need to open the back portion of your device for this though). Once you find it you're lucky then... Get a linux OS on your PC, mount your phone's partition and flash back the correct TA partition. Although yea the level of difficulty on this process is "Expert level" so good luck.
My explanation is just simple but I tell you it's alot harder when you do it.

You use test point on a z1?
You need to be giving advice not asking for it, there are so many other options to use before you start messing with that,,,

@the_laser any help ?
do you have original trim area backup ?
Yes I have it
I sent it to ur inbox @the_laser
i don't receive anything
@the_laser sorry .. now i sent it
I'd say that you would need to send it off for repair, sounds like a brick, i'd say that they'll do a straight swap for a new device.

If @the_laser thinks he can fix it, I would say he can. He is the man that brought unofficial bootloader unlock to the x10 and much, much more....
With the original TA backup and setools and jtag its possible....

What's your qualification?
You're a hardware engineer / hardware (repair) technician / hardware hacker?
No?
Stop dreaming about home brew repairs (as there is NO option left unless you fulfill the requirement from above, in which case you wouldn't post here) and either send it off to SE or throw it into the trash.

Firstly, you obviously didn't find this thread which would've spared you the trouble.
Secondly, it is a kind-of hardware problem now that you "killed" the phone with a failed boot loader unlock due to the date code being past 11W29
Thirdly, I have no idea what a "experts repair" (to use your words) will cost. So far no one obviously found a phone repair shop where the technicians had the required brains and tools to unbrick the phone - everyone who hard bricked the phone sent it off to SE.

Whoa?! 11W20 hard bricked?
Anyway, since something seems to have went wrong your only option is to send the phone off to SE for repair.
There is, as I already said, NO way for any home-brew repair left - unless you would already own the required hardware to JTAG the phone (RIFF box + X8 JTAG header or Medusa Box + X8 JTAG header).
Get in touch with your local SE service center and ask them how sending the phone in works (and refrain from telling them about what you did - just tell them "I tried to turn it on in the morning and it won't turn on - dunno what's wrong" *1000W angel halo*)
My friend faces same problem with his phone. He hard bricked it. The phone was other one but the logic is the same.
If you phone is still in warranty. Then they wont charge you. As they cannot know whats inside the phone. Is it rooted, unlocked, custom ROM or anything.
Just go to the shop, with this dead phone, tell them you saw this in the morning and something must have happened during the night (like make something up. Ofcourse a good reason) and before you know they will be agreeing to repair your phone with NO COST!
sigh..
guess its a trip to service center..
had that problem too..

I've got a more or less big problem. My Xperia SP cannot recognize, that my SIM-card is inserted. If I turn it on it doesn't ask for the PIN and furthermore I can't receive or send SMS's, I can't receive calls or call somebody and I haven't got mobile data. I tried to insert my SIM-card in another sony phone and it didn't work. I also put another working SIM-card in my phone and it also couldn't recognize it. I think (I'm actually sure) it's caused by the non-functional phone apk, but maybe also the SIM-card is broken.
What shall I do? I have a TWRP backup, but I'm not 100% sure, whether it is from before or after. What is a less- or non-risky possibility to replace the phone.apkor is there a better method to repair the phone?
edit: I found out, if my phone is turned on and I remove the SIM-card, it realizes it, and reboots.
Please help me!
???
Sorry, but why is my post ticked with a hook??? The problem isn't solved yet!

First of All thanks for your reply. But I already took another SIM-card (which on Xperia L works fine) and put it into my device but there were the same problems. Yesterday I downloaded the SemcPhone.apk file, pushed it to /system/app and changed permissions to rw-r--r-- and rebooted. Then it asked for the PIN but after unlocking I got a bunch of Force closes and they didn't stop.. Even after rebooting again I had the problem, so I deleted the apk file again. But it's now the same like I described there above :/
Reflash ROM.. You have phone.apk problems aswell so this should fix it
Okay.. And the stock ROM, is this the "Deodexed stock ROM" (777MB) from android development or the "normal" stock ROM (odexed) (12.0.A.2.245) also from android development section?
No, to prevent any issues just open Sony Update Service (can be downloaded from the Sony website) and "restore" your phone..
So go back to full stock
Okay cool thank you I'll try it

The last version of Sony Update Service misses the XSP.
I have contacted Sony Mobile to point this out. Untill we recieve a new update you need to use the PC Companion to restore your phone or you need to use Flashtool

Okay, then I'll do that
:/
I tried it with PC Companion but when it had to start repairing and it booted the phone into flashmode (I think so, because the LED was green) and then PC Companion said: "The phone contains modified software, which cannot be updated" and below "Error 2003" ..
I tried it 2 times and both the same :/
My phone has unlocked bootloader, is rooted, and has the DoomKernel, no custom rom.

Well that is unfortunate. You need to relock bootloader and reflash with flashtool.
You cannot use Sony software with unlocked bootloader
Sent from my C5303 using Tapatalk
Oh! That's actually bad. But then I first have to flash back the stock kernel, then relock bootloader, repair with PC Companion and eventually unlock Bootloader again if necessary for me, right? Just for being sure.
Yes correct you need stock kernel then lock bootloader, then re flash/repair phone

Ok good. Now the last question: from where can I get the right stock kernel? I found a post from DoomLoRD, where he wrote, that you have to flash stock kernel.sin and no FTF kernel but I couldn't find a stock kernel.sin and in another post from alivanov79, alivanov79 posted a link to an FTF kernel. So Do you know which one is the right one?

Hello! I hope you're still alive!
I am facing the same problem, but before I start doing stuff, may I know if your problem has been solved?
My Xperia SP as well on occassion doesn't detected sim card. Sometimes when I need to make phone calls the most, it starts to do it. I am planning to send it for warranty, as I am having another 20 days before the warranty expires.
Surprisingly, many Sony Xperia models users have experience of having a phone that doesn't read SIM cards. Google reveals it all.

Hey,
yeah, I'm still alive
So, the thing is, my problem there had been caused by myself, fiddling around with some root stuff, so it hadn't been my phone's fault.
But what I did is I just flashed another ROM because I didn't see another solution and it really drove me crazy not being able to use the SIM card related functions.
Well, keeping your post in mind I don't think you'd like to flash another ROM (I probably shouldn't have done that, too).
So if you didn't already try to repair your phone with PC Companion, that'd be the first thing, I'd do in your case.
Otherwise I'd send it for warranty as you considered it already.
Yeah, my sister's Xperia L also has that problem and that's really unfortunate.
So I hope, my "advide" could help at least a bit although there may not be plenty of hints, but yeah.
If I shocked you with that essay I'm sorry, too

I will flash stock ROM and relock bootloader and then reflash stock via PCC to see if it will fix the problem

i did it with heimdall-cleanui, i think it was on GBT or GRT or GPT or something like that
i guess that was a huge mistake,
I found something intresting were some people can get into Download mode with a 301k Ohm resistance and a micro usb cable, but that was for the S3 and im not sure if that can work.
i would put the instructions here but i dont know if you understand german

If I understand it correctly, this 300k resistor trick is the same as a USB jig, and should work on the S3 mini. It may be worth a try building one is you can find instructions. Nothing to lose!

Hello,
I wanted to flash my kernel because of the stupid cyanogenmod recovery and I flashed the kernel to the wrong partition (aboot) using terminal emulator and now my phone won't turn on anymore.... No FlashTool no fastboot no nothing
Pressing the volume down/power or reset does nothing plugging it in then pressing the reset button makes it vibrate three times and for the rest it does nothing...
Is my phone completely dead and ready to be trashed?
I'm sure sony won't repair it now
repair using PC Companion
Hi,
Unfortunately aboot refers to your device bootloader, and a broken bootloader means a dead device. Bootloader is the responsible for bringing up all the software in your device, that means: recovery, fastboot, kernel, etc.
Unless you can flash software directly to the aboot partition, you won't be able to bring it back alive again. I'm not sure regarding Z1, but when my S4 died of a bootloader problem, I've sent it to a guy who owned a JTAG and he restored the bootloader for me. If you don't know anyone who can do this job, then you'll need to send it to Sony.
Messing up with partitions is exactly why people suggest to not try doing it without knowing what you're doing. Sometimes simple mistakes like that happens and they are a huge headache.
Good luck with your device,
~Lord

Hi,
I believe they will just flash the bootloader directly to the motherboard. As you know it is installed during the production process, and just like with the S4 there are tools that can install software this way.
So it's very likely you'll receive exactly the same device with software flashed back. Here's for example what is done when a S4 has damaged software:
https://youtu.be/PkfEhu4trRY
I believe it's a similar process. And in case something goes wrong they may replace the motherboard, but these are internal information that I don't have access :silly: ?.

Very interesting... I didn't know that lol I always thought they just replaced the motherboard and sent it back! Anyway when I get my device back, I will check the IMEI, pvs bin, ... to see if it's still the same device! It's quite sad that this device is not as easy to do a teardown on as let's say a samsung device most samsung phones are held together by a set of screws which can be easily removed in a matter of minutes with Sony phones you'll have to unglue the back cover and loose it's water proof functionality to repair it I guess! It would be a lot better than having to wait 3 weeks to get my phone back.
Thanks for your help though!

Hi,
I believe they will just flash the bootloader directly to the motherboard. As you know it is installed during the production process, and just like with the S4 there are tools that can install software this way.
So it's very likely you'll receive exactly the same device with software flashed back. Here's for example what is done when a S4 has damaged software:

I believe it's a similar process. And in case something goes wrong they may replace the motherboard, but these are internal information that I don't have access :silly: .
All the best,

Just got my phone back in working condition, they replaced the motherboard as I expected BUT even though I freaking told the store I bought it at that the vibration motor was making squealing noises, sony did not replace it so I will have to send it back AGAIN :/
My Google Maps was acting up (as if it had no GPS signal) so I decided to uninstall it and try installing the app again. What a bad decision! The phone turned off half way thru the app removal and now it only shows the Android welcoming screen and a triangle warning. I can't figure out a way to get it back to properly boot.
I've tried the following:
- removed SIM
- removed SD card
- hold POWER & volume UP
- hold POWER & volume DOWN
If I try to turn it on, it will show Android screen then triangle warning then android screen and back to triangle as if in a loop - is this what a bootloop means? Oh geez...
The phone was completely stock FW with Sony updates, so whatever is the latest updates from Sony, the phone has it.
Does anyone know what is happening and how to fix this?
Thanks in advance.

Reflash a system.sin, that should get it going again.
FYI for anyone coming across this problem i down the road : I could not figure out what /how to do the system.sin but I was able to run the Xperia Companion and repair the phone. I basically downloaded the Xperia Companion from Sony website, run the repair tool, connected the phone and followed the instructions.
It erased all settings and apps though, which I understood it would've happened but I assumed Sony had my backup online. Apparently not so I will need to work on it.
Good luck!

Had you of asked I would have said use Newflasher, which would have simply reflashed the system keeping all your data intact. PC Companion should be a last resort, but even then I prefer the Flashtool or Newflasher.

Really, huh? A little late for that, isn't it?
Now let me ask you this here: did it sound from my previous post that I knew anything about system.sin, flashtool or newflasher? I guarantee you that I didn't know then and I still don't know now. And that is on me, no questions about that. So why pretend you tried to help? Had you tried to actually help, perhaps you would've said something else .

I did try to help, I told you what to do but you thought it best not to ask any questions about what I posted on this developer forum and did your own thing, which yes, is on you, and losing data by not seeking to learn more about what was posted, is a harsh lesson to learn.
So there, all there of your questions answered, just a shame you didn't think to ask the right ones before losing your data.

These days, the only thing I'm looking for is to help (and continue to learn). I joined this site as a newb looking to modify an X10, and since then I've learnt how to modify every device you see listed in my sig, and have done so by continuing right up until the present day by asking questions. I've helped countless amount of people, contributed where I can, and will continue to do so. But if you (or anyone) wants to be arsy or argumentative, I can do that too. :good:
