Dear Xperia T users,
Some of you might already know me, but some won't. I'm a developer for Sony Xperia phones and I have some experience now
I'm looking for people that are willing to test a kernel with recovery for me
When we have a working recovery I'll also need testers for my custom rom: KA Xperia SSpeed
I haven't started to make the kernel with recovery yet, first I need to know if there is interest in this at the moment?
Thank you,
Krabappel2548

ok, pm me if you want to test some stuff
just flashing kernels to begin, but it won't brick your device if you follow my instructions
Hey Krabbple , if you realease roms for t then try to ask pple to test on tx because its exactly the same but diff design / remove batt. also it might be compatible for v but kernel flashing may be diff.
I will test. I have unlocked bootloader and rooted. Both kernel in other thread just stick on bootlogo

new kernels posted, let's hope they boot this time the command I use should be good, I used the right base adresses
I posted 2 insecure kernels, please test them both and report back to me
I am getting my T next week krab, we could join up for development?
Ive got mine now, put me down for helping to test the ROM's and such, would rather be honest and say that I have no idea on how to flash a kernel.
My Xperia T should arrive in the next days to be compared with a S3 first hand. I'm pretty sure the S3 will lose and will be sent back to Amazon - and I'm absolutely up for some crazy flashing
What can I do to help development? Should I dump the firmware and upload it? It is from O2 Germany and without a simlock, can't say if it is branded yet.
the big and might Codeworkx is having the T too....
expect fabulous dev work here !!!!
Can't wait Krab
Bring the Rom & Kernel on.. LOL

Hi
I've got a xperia T and I would like to develop but I have a problem, I can't unlooked my bootloader, so, how can I help?
Hello all,
I know this has been already asked and some of us have found solution to rooting of .253 FW but it is very complicated and while doing it, someone may brick the device.. So can anyone n specially Doom find a better n easy way of rooting it? just like we had for .350 n .434 FW.. Please see it will be very helpful.. Downloading multiple ftf/zip is confusing n time consuming...
1. No need for ANOTHER thread on this. There are already 2 on the first page.
2. Do you think it is that easy? You just ask and somebody produces an easy way to root the new firmware? If you are a "Software test engineer" as your profile states, then you should have an idea of the difficulties involved.

Software in this case is probably html and engineer in this case probably means testing web pages in multiple different browsers to see if the pages break.

Yes, I know there must be difficulties involved.. but if u rememeber, DoomLord had acquired the root access even before the device was launched in India.. So if he could do, he certainly can do something like that again.. Hopefully no need to flash multiple FTF/zips, it just increases the confusion..

When one does not have full idea, one should not utter nonsense... I have been testing different softwares on different platform including android as well from last 4.5 yrs :silly:. so better get the info first before making any comments.

My point was that this thread is completely pointless and unnecessary. Do you think devs are just sitting around waiting for someone to ask this and they then think "Hey, he's right! I'll get right on it and make a one click solution!"?
It's not that simple. The exploit used to root with a locked bootloader has been patched and there is no guarantee that another can be found.

Yes, I do understand that it is quite difficult to get another exploit to gain the root access.. still it was just a humble request..
Rather than sit around and "request" (I like to think of it as demanding rather than requesting), you have 2 options:
1. Wait.
2. Find the exploit yourself.

+1, and if you're finding it too "complicated" then you need to READ any instructions again, and get used to it because whenever a new FW is released the existing methods will either work or not and requires a bit of thought, or you need to be patient and wait for new solution, starting new threads isn't going to speed up the process.

i think we can flash 253 ftf file with flash tool , exclude system.sin this could keep your root access.
You may say he's been a noob or whatever but i've come from samsung devices and i'm having difficulty working out how to do this on the XZ, i understand new software, but even on .434 i only had root as i found recovery installs confusing.
Even with ODIN on samsung you flashed a ROM, then a RECOVERY and you were good to go.
If Flashtool could install recovery i'd probably be ok, but like this guy a one click root would be great as the sony way seems confusing first time round

Then get on with creating it lol.
Like I already said, it's not as simple as just asking for it. Somebody has to actually find a new exploit (no easy task, if it's actually possible) then create a package to perform that exploit.
If the current method is too confusing, then don't use it. This site is supposedly for development anyway, not for holding people's hands

Cam mods close these kind of threads, it's flooding.
Come on it is very easy to upgrade root the new firmware just follow steps of NUT gave in his post. I did it in a few minutes and didnt lost any data in the process. (only my mods was lost but it is expected )
I cant understand people what more do you want? ıt is like do this than do that and done!
Waiting on a easy way or exploit aswel,i updated and now i see how much i love root,im gettin really annoyee with the ads fo exsample

I returned to .434 for two reason,
1, It's clean
2, give me better battery life/performance
3, it's my to mod, and nobody messed with it.

NOW YOU CAN FLASH THE NEW FIRMARE AND DOOM MAKE A A NEW TOOLKIT DooMLoRD_Easy-Rooting-Toolkit_v15_perf-event-exploit THAT CAN ROOT 10.1.1.A.1.307 , 10.1.D.0.343 , 10.3.A.0.423 , FLASH ANY FRMWARE OF THIS -- ROOT--INSTALL cwm-locked-bl-XZ-v4 AND YOU ARE GOOD TO GO , IT WORKS PERFECT FOR ME
Is there any other way coming to root z1 c6902 rather than degrading for 4.4.2?? If any modder is working on it kindly reply and ill wait for some more time :good:

There is lot of question about this. And the answer is not without unlocking bootloader. Is it any mod is working on it for LB device ? Maybe, but how long ? We know that, Z1 cannot be rooted directly since 4.3 (due to Sony patch the leak) and until 4.4.2 come out, there is none method can give you root access in LB device.
So you may want to wait a long long time until they can get it right (if there is a modder), or you can unlock your device bootloader (You will make your warranty void, lose DRM key.) and use doomkernel or you can downgrade it to 4.2 to get root access.
If only you had a quick look through the General section.
Hi,
Not sure if I'm in the right place, but I have the Sony Xperia Z and recently got it rooted to the Cyanogenmod, but not quite liking it.
My dislike isn't necessarily the firmware itself, it is that I really like the Sony-made functions, specifically the camera (it's better quality than what Cyanogenmod is giving me)
So my question, if I install the official firmware back onto the phone, is it still rooted? Can I still go into recovery mode, for example?
I see XZDualRecovery on my memory card, as long as I keep it there, will recovery mode work?
If the only way to keep these stuff working is use a custom firmware, then out of the many firmwares out here, which one still uses the Sony features? Which one is actually based on the official firmware?
I see a lot but all the new terms and options out there is just confusing.
Thank you.
Please do not post any thread like this in here. Its A development Thread. Pls read some rules before posting in xda..
And now u r in cm 11. After flashing stock firmware u will lost root and cwm recovery. 100℅. Otherwise download any stock rom and flash it. Pls don't ask which rom is good. All roms r good.
Best regards..
Hi, thank you for your response.
As mentioned, I don't know if I'm in the right place. I just noticed the other sections; I'm happy for moderators to move this to the correct place.
Also, I think you misunderstood my question.
Yes, I know all custom firmwares are good - but I'm asking which one is still using Sony's features? I really want to have the Cybershot quality of photos.
If there is a custom firmware out there, which is it? I ask because it's confusing as I'm new to the various terminologies used here. EG. http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z/orig-development/kma-cm-11-101-sony-kernel-blobs-t2708325
Does that mean it's still using all of what Sony offers, then more? Or just meaning this is for Sony phones?
So my concern again is, which custom firmware is still using Sony's features?
If there's none, then thank you for answering my other question - I guess if I decide to go back to the official firmware, I will not have all the features of a rooted phone, which is unfortunate. But i just had a thought, I remember during my initial rooting stage, before installing CFW, it was all rooted and all. Does that mean, if I go back to OFW, then root it again, as long as I don't install a CFW, I can still use the OFW with rooted features? (as in, download superuser and stuff like that to use)
But yes, please, any moderators out there, feel free to move this to the correct section. Sorry.
Well, decided to reinstall the official firmware - will now root it and keep it on the official firmware.
Thank you.
Use flash tool to get back, then root it with towel.
That's it
@bitsnpieces There are some explaination for almost all terminologies in android. here you go
Awesome Orangewanted - thank you for the link.
@K9998 - yep, that's what I did in the end - took some time to get it all working but super happy with what I have now. Also been reading that Sony's 4.4.2 KitKat has problems so I'll probably be on 4.3 for a while, also because it still has some sort of SIM support which I prefer to use...
Use .233 firmware

You can use .233 firmware and flash true Flashtools. I dont see any problems with 4.4.2 Sony Firmware ( not acording to battery drain, but its google fault not Sony ) Here is the link Firmware .233
Awesome! That's exactly what I was looking for (of course, previously had no idea how to do it, but worked it now, and didn't know where to get the stuff I wanted, which now there is).
However, my biggest beef is that, from what I understand, Google removed SIM card support in KitKat? Because my contacts are all on SIM (and though I can save it to card, and then just transfer them over to KitKat contacts, I don't like linking my Facebook and Skype accounts, etc, into my contacts... Thus when I was using Cyanogenmod... Contacts was just a mess), does Sony's KitKat version still support SIM usage (incase Sony worked out a way to keep it working)?
It'll have the Cyber-shot camera which I'm happy about (presuming they kept it in KitKat), but SIM is the next big thing for me...
Please post questions and troubleshooting posts in the Q&A/Troubleshooting section.
You will receive help much more quickly if you post in the correct section

Hey XDA !!
Maybe this question is thrown around a lot , but here it goes anyways . I have pre-ordered a Nexus6 (64GB,blue) and am expecting it to arrive by the end of this week. Is it advisable/necessary to root the device ? I mean most of the nexus owners here have already rooted their phones ( judging by the signatures ) . I currently own a Xperia Arc S (LT18i) which i had rooted due to performance issues (cm9) but i wasnt very happy with it considering I lost the bravia settings. So do I really need a rooted phone ? And also what is the difference between unlocked bootloader and rooted device.
These are pretty basic questions and if there is a thread for any of this please post a link here in the comments . Pretty new to all this.
Thanks

here a pretty basic answer.. if you NEED root, then yes, its advisable. if you dont need root, why would you root? the only thing that can be done with root is changing out system files and running apps that need root. it wont do anything else for you.
if you want to flash roms or other things, you dont need root either. but you would need to unlock your bootloader and flash a custom recovery. you dont need root to flash roms or kernels, you only need root to change system files and run apps that need root.
what differences/advantages one gets after rooting , considering nexus already has stock android .

again, the difference is that with root you can change system files and run root oriented apps. root itself does not change anything except add in the superuser binaries.

You can always Google the terms or watch some videos on YouTube etc. it comes down to personal preference and your goals/intentions with your device.
