Missing hotword from Google Search settings - Moto X Q&A

Yesterday, Google Search was working fine. Today, it's not. I can't use the hotword anymore and the settings for it have vanished. I'm on 4.4.2, so I haven't a clue what's wrong.
I should note that my girlfriend's MotoX (4.4)doesn't have the hotword settings even though it should be there.
I haven't installed anything between yesterday and today. I've already cleared data/cache of Google Search, as well as tried uninstalling the updates to it.

Where it says offline speech recognition go in and re-download your language. Not saying this will fix it but this has worked for me in the past.

So if you go into the download languages page it doesn't give you the option to uninstall ?

My Hotword detection settings are missing from Google Now and my language pack also comes up saying "preinstalled" and gives no option to uninstall.

This happened to me the other day after messing around with some other apps.
Try uninstalling updates for Google Search

I'm having the same problem as of yesterday. It went away yesterday and so I uninstalled updates and then updated Google search again. It worked okay for a day or so but then it disappeared again today. Uninstall updates helped again but it seems like something else is going on to cause it.
Chrome and Google Wallet updated recently asking with a few noon-Google apps. Have you had any updates lately?

Only Chrome and Google Wallet. I feel that it may be Chrome Beta. However, this isn't an issue on my Nexus 7, and my gf doesn't use Chrome Beta.

I had stopped using chrome beta mostly but it was still on the phone. I uninstalled it yesterday after I list the hotword detection again. We'll see if I lose it again.

I tried freezing Chrome Beta and Wallet. No dice.
Uninstalling the updates to Google Search brings back hotword, but only temporarily.

Hotword has always been available on mine since I uninstalled updates. If I install the updates it stays until I reboot the phone, then disappears. Are you sure Google search is not updating?

I'm seeing the same thing. I reinstalled the updates and it was okay, until I rebooted.
I don't have chrome beta on my phone anymore. So, I don't think it's that.
I also notice now that when it is working it says "say OK Google" in search bar. It didn't do that until I uninstalled the updates and reinstalled them the first time.

If I uninstall the updates, it's fine. I reboot after that, it's fine. I update Google Search to the latest, and it's fine. However, I reboot and it's broken again.
I don't understand how this was working even after this update. It only broke me a few weeks later. Google Search was updated on March 14th. I made this thread March 28th. It was working fine for me March 27th. It only stopped working after the 28th. Makes no sense. I have rebooted multiple times between March 14th and March 27th. That's what makes this so weird to me.

Maybe something updated around that time that's breaking it. Could be anything. I know I had Wallet and chrome beta update. I've removed chrome beta since and that didn't help.
Maybe it's wallet or something else.

I have Chrome Beta on both my N7 and my X. My N7 doesn't have this issue; however, my N7 doesn't say "Say, Okay Google" in the search bar in Google Search; hotword still works on the N7 though.
I tried freezing Chrome Beta on my X and rebooting, but that didn't fix it. Let me try freezing Chrome Beta, uninstalling the updates to Google Search, then rebooting; then upgrading Google Search and rebooting. If it works... It was Chrome. If not.... No clue still.

I don't have Chrome beta on my X, just Chrome. I would freeze that as well.

I don't have Chrome on my phone. I removed it.
Good news: what I did above worked! It seems it's Chrome Beta in conjunction with the latest Google Search. It should be noted that I am still missing the hotword settings though. Hotword works, I just don't have the option to enable or disable it.

I removed chrome beta yesterday and still has this problem after uninstalling Google search updates and re-updating but I have regular chrome still. I'm going to try uninstalling updates to that and rebooting. We'll see what happens.

I ran into this problem again after flashing another ROM. I noticed that in this case the Google voice keyboard was also messed up - the mic icon would not show up on the Google keyboard.
I ended up removing my version of Google keyboard and reinstalling from the Play Store. I also removed my version of Google Search (the ROM included the most up to date version) and re-installed using an older version from another ROM. After that, Google voice keyboard and hotword detection both worked as expected (including after Google Search updated to the most recent version).
So point of story: check to see if Google voice typing works correctly (Google keyboard should correctly put the mic icon on the key (I think it's the key directly to the left of the spacebar).

How to make your Andriod Market FULLY FUNCTIONAL :
**Keep in mind this only been TESTED with Market Version 3.0.27 & 3.1.3 (It may work with other versions).**
I recommend Market 3.0.27 over 3.1.3 ! I find 3.0.27 work best for the NookColor.
What do you need :
- LCD Resolution (Free From The Market)
(Is other apps out there BUT THIS IS THE ONE I TESTED AND IT WORKED FINE FOR ME, you may use others apps however your result may not be the same)
**I do not recommend changing the SCREEN RESOLUTION using the manual way. USE THE APP!**
Steps (SUPER EASY STEPS) :
-Go to the market search for :LCD Resolution
-Open the application, now you gonna see your Current System Density. It should be 161. (*If not please don't panic*)
-In the section that says New Density click on it, delete whatever is there and type 160 (**Please MAKE SURE is 160**)
-Now make sure before you hit APPLY click on the box that says ALWAYS SET ON BOOT. (If you do not click that, IT WONT SAVE THE NEW DENSITY ON BOOT !)
-Now click APPLY (Your NookColor will restart after that)
-Go to Setting/Applications/Manage Applications/Market/Clear Data (this should make your market work right away!!!!!!)
***Sometimes take about 2 - 3 days to take full effect on the market but IT DOES WORK***
I hope this help you guys, any questions please feel free to ask !!!!

Please help!
Running CM7.0.3 with Market 3.0.27. I appreciate all the hard work you dev's did to put this together! I mean, I'm an idiot, and you all even made it where I could root it....
The market shows the movies on when I change the LCD density to 160, but when I go to play them on the google video app, it said it cannot play video on a rooted device.
I could not find a fix for this. Any advice, or another good place to download videos for my plane flight?
Thanks!!!!
You're probably better off converting your own with HandBrake. That having been said, Google Videos looks for the presence of the su command to determine if the device has been rooted. There was at least one detailed thread on the subject, unfortunately I don't know exactly where it is (and su is a pretty short search term . Long story short is you hunt down su, rename it with Root Explorer, and rename it back after you're done watching Google videos...a pretty big PITA if you ask me.

Cool beans! I'm experiencing something similar. Going over 24 hours without having to wipe data. But can't tell why: I had not checked my apps in a few days, and in a fit of flashing angst I decided to see what was new through rom manager, noticed a new gapps package and flashed that last night. Didn't even wipe market, it didn't ask me to accept terms or anything, yet here I am with a market that just works at 160 dpi over 24 hours.
Are you by any chance on the updated gapps (0828)?

I think they did find a fix. I try almost every rom for Nook color and with LCD to 160 all the apps work. I'm currently running Market Version 3.0.27, everything working the Movies section let me watch movies with not problem at all !
My market's been running fine for 4-5 days, all apps (and movies) are there, density set to 240 (160's too small for me). I'll believe it's really fixed when any density works. I'll switch back to 200 and see what happens.
The op mentions that a new version of gapps may have fixed it, but I don't see a new version of gapps on the wiki. Is 20110613 still the latest?

New market has always worked at 240. it breaks after a while at 160. This is what we were referring to.
New gapps can be found at goo-inside.me
Just thought I'de let you know...
I've permanently changed my LCD Density from 161 to 160 to make Market work. That should replace your workaround in the OP about getting the LCD Resolution app, right? Since mine's permanent, it ALWAYS boots and has 160 as the density. The problem is, I still have LOADS of Market FCs. And I canb't see Google Videos in the Market either. Market's version is 3.1.3 and I got it from ROM Manager's gapps. (The most latest one). Any workarounds on this?

[Q] New to the watch Undid installation of Maps

Yesterday I received my watch and as it updated I was informed that Maps was installed, at the same time a FB notification arrived so I swiped away tapping undo.
Under the rather stupid belief I was getting rid of the FB notification I let it go. Now I can't find Maps on my watch and I believe I may have removed the installation of Maps from my watch.
Is there anyway to reinstall Maps on my watch?
Thank you

I had a problem with maps since update, from not working at all to being gone on watch, what helped in the end was a reset of watch, deleting maps data on the phone, uninstalling updates of maps, and then reinstalling, then resyncing apps to watch again.
But to be fair I don't know if any of these steps had anything to do with maps reapearing and starting to work again.
maybe you just blocked maps app notifications, check in on android wear app, I don't know...

Google Assistant

I had the google assistant the other day and now its gone again, anyone's else had this?
I'm in the UK if that makes any difference.
For now, google assistant is not avaible everywhere, because it was made especially for google pixel, so maybe there was an update for your phone, but you disabled Google Assistant, try checking your Google settings on phone, if everything is as it should be.
Try installing the latest beta version of Google play services.

Play Store downloads/updates stuck at 99%

I'm using a Note9 that's only a month old. The last 2 days, any app updates or new apps I'm trying to download get stuck at 99% (sometimes 100%). Things I've tried so far:
* Resetting the Play Store to default and deleting data/cache
* Wiping the cache of the whole phone
* Disabling the Google app (per suggestions I found elsewhere)
* Uninstalling Nova Launcher (per suggestions)
* Wiping the cache/data of the Download Manager
It's driving me up the wall. No idea what to try. Any advice?
This is the same issues I've been having, especially since updating to Android Pie. Only small fix I found was just closing all apps and run Device Care on a download, then it worked. I don't know if this is an actual fix though.

I am not.
I've ran into this problem but only when having a unstable Wi-Fi connection. Specifically a bad power supply on the router.
And a lot of business wifi like in hospitals and stuff they have blocking software to keep the employees from watching movies and game of thrones and things like!

So, no one has found a solution to the stuck-at-99% download problem for Google Play Store?

Only Google.
I'm experiencing this problem as well (Samsung Galaxy Note 10+). This started happening 2 days ago.
Also, another strange thing is happening: The Blue light filter, and Digital Wellbeing grayscale filter, are not starting/stopping at the correct times, they are delayed (sometimes by hours).
The worst part is, my previous phone (Galaxy Note 8) had the exact same issue(s). I endured it for a long time. I was excited to ditch the Note 8 for a phone that worked... Oh well
I generated a debug log, and I'm combing through it now. I don't understand everything I'm looking at.
Here are some attempted fixes, that did _not_ fix the issue on the Note 8:
* Clearing the Google Play store and services caches.
* Removing my Google account, then signing back in.
* Factory reset, then reinstalling everything from scratch. (The issue started happening again, within 1 day.)

Thank you very much!
I double-checked that apps were unable to update (Netflix was stuck at "77%"). I disabled the Google app, and restarted the phone. I left Google disabled.
... Netflix took longer to update (it stalled at "77%" again), but it did finish successfully. Now the other apps are downloading and installing! Nice. Hopefully this is a permanent (or at least reproducible) solution to the issue.
Do you know *why* the Google app would be interfering with app updates? I'm genuinely curious.

Yes i disabled it, but that must be related to another issue. my girlfriend has the same s8 and no issues. Must be related to multiple google accounts or something that differs from my phone to hers.
Perhaps fully off-topic or just the solution, did you disable or remove Chrome? I know my Note 9 shows similar behaviour when I debloat and remove Chrome. Once I updated the WebView app all runs fine. So I always update WebView before anything else. But then again I only notice this behaviour once I remove or disable Chrome browser.

Question Google play doesn't work after update

Hi everybody,
following an update of my smartphone today via OTA, google play and youtube no longer works. Do you have any idea where it might come from?
FYI, a few weeks ago I deactivated a good number of applications via ADB but I had no problem so far.
Hi tomtom34,
Have you tried setting your timezone and date manually? Sometimes this can help. I just got the update but have not encountered any issues yet.

I've noticed this too! I had to put back com.vivo.pem for it to work, but it seems to work if you do manual sync of google account, clear google play cache, reboot 2 times then open google play and wait a few moments, then it springs back into life and with com.vivo.pem disabled (the way we like it).
Strange, I know, happened again today after another nighly update.

Annoyingly, all google apps stopped working for me again today after it ha been working for a while. Had to activate com.vivo.pem, restart phone (and deactivated pem again as we want it) and the google apps work again, will see for how long this time...

Google seems to have settled down but since updating to OceanOs notifications are much worse. I had working before (not perfectly) WhatsApp and FB Msg notifications but it seems even with pem removed, app permissions set and batt optimisation for apps set it is still deciding to close apps.
Perhaps it's iManager? (We cant disable that now) or whatever app tells us it's closed this.. or blocked pop-ups from that.. But I feel that is prob iManager.
Is there a specific reason vivo app should be removed?

Notifications working ok now, I had not realised the basic notification setting in the app(s) were set to none (No chat notification at all) So many settings.... anyway, wasn't an OceanOS issue.

@pwnedphone GMS stopped working again, now I cant get GMS without PEM installed
I used the uninstall cmd on PEM (vs disable) and GMS remained on (even after a few reboots), hoping it stays that way. Notifications appear to be working again.

Okay, thank you for the info. Google apps (and notifications) have been working for me since the last disabling of PEM, but i haven't dared to restart the phone since then...
Did you ever experienced google disconnection after firmware update: I mean after an official update (2 in this month) Google Play Services seem to "freeze" (no notifications from apps) and if I try to disconnect my Google account I cannot login again for a variable period of time (Google server unreachable).
