Hey guys, I'm not sure specifically who to ask here so I thought I'd just start a thread for it:
I would LOVE to see a version of Philz Touch Advanced CWM recovery available for our Nook devices, but alas compiling from github is beyond me
Here's Phil's developer info post on how to do it: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=39433612#post39433612
Hopefully someone on here will be able to make this work as It would make flashing rom's/mods SO much easier!! While it works fine, booting from an SD card every time you want to flash something is just ball ache lol
Anyway, I hope this is something that is within the realms of possibility!
Thanks in advance!!

Hate to bump/necro this, but would anyone be kind enough to build this?
Been looking for a touch cwm for the nook HD+ off and on for a while and this is as close as I've seen.

Rhyang built TWRP 2.7.1.0 for the HD+ here. It is a good recovery with touch support.

Thanks, was looking for CWM since its what I use for all my recovery, but I'll check it out.
Never really gave TWRP a fair chance, since cwm has worked with no real issues.

I can't remember for sure, but backups made with an older recovery version won't restore on this version right? Is it still orange? The 4.x incredible 2 recovery is deep blue/purple, but I think it might be unique to that particular version. Pretty important difference I know.. But what might the benefits to the new version be?
Tried to wait and couldn't..
Flashed fine and all seems OK.
Honestly I don't see any difference. It's still orange.

Only new feature I see is under mount/storage. There is a format /datadata and format /emmc

I will wait for rom manager, better wait than sorry.
Not trying to be a **** but I don't think this should really be called CWM as Koush didn't make it. Unless he authorized someone else to mod it for him but the dev gives no indication that that was the case. I might be unaware that birdman took over CWM development in that case I apologize. It kind of misleads people into thinking this is from Koush and that they can expect it to show up in ROM Manager soon which it won't. Might have been better to name it Modded CWM 4.0.0.5.

to my understanding koush made cwm open source and this was built from his newest source (4.0.0.5) so technically it is still cwm
So only known advantages to upgrading is that you can wipe /datadata and /emmc?
What sort of significance do wiping these folders do?

Thats cool and like I said I wasn't trying to disrespect birdman just the name he choose is confusing. I saw the thread title and said cool Koush is putting out a new CWM and kept checking ROM manager for it. Finally came back here and followed the link and saw it wasn't Koush's work and was dissapointed. I only download from a few trusted dev's and not into trying alpha's unless absolutely necessary. Like when my Eris lost is trackball function last summer and a guy I met in the forums made the group a version of amon's recovery that didn't need it.
if im running an old version of recovery (2.5) and i update to try out some new roms, i wont be able to restore my nandroid from 2.5?

Correct

But you can just flash an older recovery and restore no problems right?
No bugs that I've experienced.

Hi all,
I have a WiFi DS7 with a very old beta of HoneyStreak on it. I am thinking of trying the new builds giveen has been putting together for JB but all the talk in that thread seems to be upgrading from ICS B4. Am i safe to try flash straight from my old HoneyStreak version or should i revert to a stock ROM first?
Or should i flash to ICS B4 and go from there?
Been reading about TWRP and it looks like i am on a very old ROM which TWRP does not support so i want to get to a stage where i can get a good image backup before i start playing with the latest beta ROMs.
Have had a read of lots of threads but there is so much information out there i am finding that getting my answer is unclear therefore thought i would ask the team.
Thanks
Just flash the NVFlash pack posted in the OP, it will take care of everything.
1. Put device in APX mode
2. Install the drivers
3. Run the batch file.
Great, Thanks Giveen.
Will be giving this a go tonight when i get home

Also just noticed that when connected via USB cable to my laptop the sdcard and internal memory is not mounting as a drive.

Yes. This was because the forum does not allow posts in the CM10 thread under the development section for accounts with as little posts as mine. As i have recently registered i could only post in here until my post count increased.

Hello, fellow XDA-ians. A friend of my owns an n7000 and on some other phone he used to have, he used Teamwin's recovery project and he wanted me to ask here if there's a twrp recovery for his note. He does not have an account here and visits as a guest from time to time. I searched the two development forums with the tag "twrp" but nothing came up.
If you searched and couldn't find, more than likely it doesn't exist.
There is no TWRP recovery for the Note yet.

Darn it. Hate to disappoint the guy.
I do believe TWRP can be built from source, providing you know what you're doing.
I did consider building it for the One S some time back but it baffled me, shortly after that it was released officially
CWM does the job so stick with it........ for now at least.
If it aint broke.... Dont fix it.

CWM doesn't do the job as well as TWRP does. I currently run an unofficial build on my Galaxy S3, and it wipes stuff faster, installs stuff faster and allows for multiple zip installation, at a max of 10 zips per install.
Aokp by sixstring 40.1 hv twrp...search in original android development section....

Agreed ! But CWM still does the job
Out of all the recoveries available, My favourite was 4ext which was available for the HTC Sensation, Id love to see that working with the Note.
There's a few IRC Channels for TWRP and the development of TWRP, Why not get some info together and maybe some interested members and see what happens
Thats how development begins, If everyone had the attitude ' Its too difficult, I'll leave it to someone else' then things wouldnt be where they are today :good:
Im suprised to not have seen this brought up before really, The Note has sold mass amounts surely we're not the only people who like it ?

I used to love 4ext touch when I had my Nexus One, then I moved to the Gnex and started using CWM touch as soon as I could. Then I switched between cwm touch and twrp a fair amount of times and even so on my SGS3 but now I simply like twrp more, seeing as I run it on my Prime as well. It feels more, uhm, "controlled".
For some crazy reason, I've started calling it "twerp recovery"

When v6 came out. It introduced a new backup system. You have the original .tar and then dup. It is for deduplication or something like that. If you make two backups with dup. On the 2nd backup, it will only backup the changed files. Almost like a incremental backup. It will save space. Good for larger roms when you get to the 800mb range. Not that important for the DINC. And it's based on newer code
To the OP. You must have a ICS or higher kernel if you make a Touch Recovery. That is probably talking about the recovery kernel and not the actually rom kernel.

yeah...should have said that....however i did build touch with pons cm10 board specks and changes in recovery.fstb..and it worked with pons cm7.2 with some errors...i am running down errors but it is painfully slow ...lol i thank it worked with pons 7.2 because of the ext4 support..
Is there a link to the build thread, I am looking for CWM with the "backup to zip" feature.

first of all thanks alot guys for those tut and tools you made.team kfhd 7" devs and to the whole part of the teams.i had a twrp installed and a pacman rom in my kfhd.i just wanna know if.we also had a pure stock rom (amazon) that can be flash thru twrp instead of doing the adb.thing or the hardest part.is there a tut thread or file like this so that it'll be easy for us to get back to stock rom whenever we want.can you guys pls make a flashable zip file of pure stock rom in two versions.one is the rooted and the other one is unrooted.this is very helpfull to all those who already had a twrp in their kfhd.so that it will be easy for them to flash the stock rom without the adb and the codes to be type in command prompt.thanks guys.hope we have that soon.if we already have it here in our threads.can you pls give me the links.btw, why some of my apps and games not working now.before i had a stock rom installed, all my apps and games are working well.is it possible reason why,is that im not yet registered my kfhd to google or amazon?thanks again and more custom roms to come soon.

I really don't recommend going back to Amazon OS. But if you really want it,go to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2218475

I wouldn't recommend that. If he's going back to stock, might as well flash the latest to avoid another update and/or potential un-rooting (unless that's what he wants). Personally, I'd recommend the Kinology ROM, as it functions like stock + an app store. However, if OP truly wants stock, he should get 7.4.6.

Read through the Kinology install instructions and you'll see how to use its files to get to a "might-as-well-be-stock" OS (it's stock, but deodexed). TWRP itself will allow you to root, so that's a non-issue.
thanks
