Stock/Pure Android on Z1? ["Solved"] - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi!
I was wondering, is it possible in some way to download the latest Android version from Google servers and somehow install the Nexus image on Z1?
I love my Z1, but I really, really, don't need the Sony stuff on it (Yeah, I'm a purist). All i need to function is the camera (and of course the necesseties like WLAN, BT, making a phonecall etc, but I assume these are "standard" drivers that will work?)

I don't know where to begin with this,....
No, No and NO

There's no way to cross flash other devices firmware. What you can do is root your phone and just delete the sony stuff you don't need.

Yep, the only way. :good:

You could always flash Cyanogenmod or Omni Rom, they're both very close to stock Android

To do that he have to Unlock Bootloader.

Thanks for the replies!

And don't forget to backup your TA it could be usefull if you ever want back to stock rom or sell your device

AOSP 4.4 with working rotation & camera

Hey all,
Found this on dhacker29's Twitter, been using it for a couple of days. It's pretty much the same AOSP 4.4 that we already have from EvanA and koko98, with one big difference. Autorotate and Camera are both working!
I figured I'd share and also hope that this can be used by other devs to get it working in their builds. I've also included a link to dhacker's gapps package, I've used both his and the PA gapps without issue.;
AOSP 4.4 rom: http://t.co/9mSQtIRoO7
Gapps: http://t.co/o4wzxsfkig
Just to be clear, this is not my work. I am just spreading the news. All credit for this excellent build goes to XDA member dhacker29. For those of us that are using his rom, it would be a good idea to thank dhacker29 for his work.
Just find one of his posts/threads on XDA and click a thanks for him. This is a pretty cool and very functional rom to have so early in 4.4 development.
EDIT: koko98 has built a CM11 that also has working rotation and camera. Here's his link in the dev section: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2509905

Been using it for a few days now. Only bug I've found is that location services don't work.
Might want to note that my device was charging extremely slowly after flashing this (might just be me)

Simply the best 4.4 rom available, great work!!
It's very good, except I don't know how to root it. I didn't flash gapps and now I have no custom recovery, nor root, and my computer won't detect is ADB device. Any help?

How? I have no TWRP, and I can't get TWRP because all of a sudden my PC no longer sees Nexus 7 at all, no MTP, so I can't access that and even when I properly reinstall all the drivers and enable USB debugging, it doesn't detect any ADB devices. It just gives me Windows beep beep sounds when plugging it in, but that's it, other than that it's useless. I should note that this started happening just after I installed Kit Kat (100% pure install), and I should add that I'm running Windows 8.1
Other than this, the ROM is very good! Well done developer.
If this is such a great ROM shouldn't it be posted in "Original Development?"
I was on 4.4 but downgraded because I wanted Screen Control and the Camera back.

It's not posted in development because the dev, dhacker29 has not opted to post it himself. It's up to the dev or a designated maintainer of a rom whether or not to post it in development and provide support for it.
I found this rom and decided to post it as a way of sharing dhacker's work with the community. Besides, what does it matter where it's posted, if it works for you and you like it, use it. If it doesn't, just don't use it.

Recover important stuff

Hey,
i really don't know how to title this question, but i love flashing new roms and try a lot, so i'm looking for a software suite or an app, where i can backup my important stuff(Whats App, xda,Pictures, etc.) and then can flash a new rom and recover the apps and other stuff back, so that i have a new rom installed but with my old stuff on it.
Is there something like that ?

Without root youre screwed, in all fairness you haven't installed everything properly, with an unlocked bootloader you certainly should have Root access to get the most of your phone, otherwise whats the point.
Do it all again, attain root access and then do what the user said a little earlier, although i prefer google keep for notes, it's lighter.
Titanium is a must have.
Since the beginning I was using Titanium.
But somehow I came over to Nandroid Manager Pro witch IMHO is just perfect and easier to use...

rooted Z1 with automatic system updates

Hey
I have C6903 with boot-loader unlock enabled (didn't touch it).
Currently I am running unrooted stock rom.
I want to root my device but I don't want (and don't have the time) to flash an updated rom each time android gets updated
long story short..
I want to get automatic system updates on rooted device without rerooting or reflushing my device.
In addition I would like to keep using some of sony's features (like stamina mode) but erase the rest.
thanks for the help!

It is not possible. All the System Updates will wipe your Root. To keep Root you will have to do it manually all the time when a Update will be available. Apps updates like Walkman ecc.. You will can update them Automatcally.

What is the closest solution to my request?
You send me your phone in the post so I can do it for you.
I mean, in all honesty, how busy do you have to be so that flashing a rom is too much trouble for you.
You could have it rooted and flashed in the time between your two posts in this thread

In my Opinion when you will get a 4.3 or 4.4 Rooted and Deodexed Android and it satisfide your needs, then any Update is unecessary.
Stock is good.
Updates make huge changes and sometime they are not the right choice.
Like a new phone come on the market then is the same with Android.
You don't have to buy it.
Am I right?

[Q] Can we make a AOSP-Rom for Locked Bootloader?

Hi,
i have a Xperia Z1 with non-unlockable Bootloader. I just love AOSP-Roms but those Roms are just for UB. But can someone make a AOSP-Rom for LB? I think many Users would love that...
Please post questions in the Q&A section,
Thread moved
And to answer your question. No, it needs an unlocked bootloader as AOSP roms require a different kernel to the stock Sony one.
Just to add to the above answer: no, the kernel is different so therefore since you cannot flash a custom kernel on LB, you won't be able to use AOSP.
I think he means use Sony kernel but try port aosp to sonys firmware
And why it work for xperia sp?

Well i can see that all of that "features" can be made only with root access and Xposed framework modules, and few mods.
Deep in framework, rom is still close to sony stock rom.
For example, everything you can make with apps or mods, except OTA update (for pac), and CM themes.
Everything else is pretty much on google play, and some mods on XDA.
If you want pure AOSP feel, you need to unlock bootloader, this is, how to say, kang version of PAC.
If you say me how to get the flip settings from AOSP on 4.4.4 i would be happy
There is an xposed mod for it

I will need to write a book if i need to explain to you.
But i simple words, "looks" aren't ported. They are just remade to mockup the same experience. Apps can be ported thanks to a general Sony framework
But the whole ROM of Marshmallow? Then impossible. Because there is no public source of the sony android. Therefore no one can port anything.
If you want your phone to look like an Xperia and also want to use the Xperia apps, I will guide you to a simple flashable zip that will allow you to install Sony apps from play store. Then if you use CM, you can install an Xperia theme. So far Marshmallow theme hasn't yet surfaced, but a Lollipop one can be find a lot on the Internet, and a lot of them are supported on CM13's theme engine

It's okay, there are plenty to learn
Of course it will lack SONY apps, because the ROM is a custom ROM. Custom ROM is very different in nature from stock ROM. And yes, by flashable zip, you can install any of SONY apps and gets update from the Play Store However, keep in mind, some DRM-sensitive features like the Sony Music (used to be walkman) Songs Information downloader will no longer exist, since, well, you already wiped your DRM keys from your TA Partition during bootloader unlock..
Here is the link to the Sony framework zip on Mega: https://mega.nz/#!wwURzAyI!lMNndMjEvZoKCYHo_oJ-SXq1oM9jQLvlcnCRIa2Vdzs
The difference between the cm11, cm12.1 and cm13 is the Android versions.
cm11 means Android 4.4.*
cm12 means Android 5.0.* [no longer exists]
cm12.1 means Android 5.1.*
cm13 means Android 6.*

I have already given you the link to the framework zip. Please re-read and try to understand my last explanation
After flashing the zip, you will have to go to play store and search for the Sony apps you wanted.
About the recommendation part, I have no idea as I personally are not using cm. However, for the question of "12.1 or 13", I'd recommend for you to go for 12.1 if you prefer stability, over bleeding-edge (cm13)
