Can't play vevo videos on youtube - Google Chromecast

Hey, i recently got my chromecast and really like it but i can't play vevo videos on YouTube. Nothing shows up on my TV. Anyone else having this issue or knows a solution?
And something "off topic", is there like anyway to cast your pc desktop, kind of like teamviever?

Seems to be casting vevo videos just fine here.
Any yes, you can use AllCast...but last I heard you needed a nexus5, not sure if that's changed or not.

Well, give me one of the videos you are having issues with and I'll try it.
As for desktop cast, there is a selection in chromecast extension in chrome that lets you select entire screen, probably not going to work well though. Just click on the little arrow drop down and it's under "Cast current tab". There's no standalone ones that I know of (though I have not looked tbh). If I see one I'll repost.

Well for You Tube there is a CCast icon (or should be) in the You Tube player itself displayed when going there via the PC Browser.
Just send the content to CCast using that button instead of the Cast a Tab.
Unless you send a link to a problem content we can't really help...
Could be that the content isn't codec compatible with CCast.

Fling Any media files to Chromecast from PC Download

Fling is the latest in a string of applications designed to stream content to Google’s Chromecast device. Fling is a Java application (so it will work on pretty much every platform) that streams media content directly to Chromecast from your PC. Technically, it is possible to do this anyway, but it requires opening the video or song you want to stream in a Chrome tab, and then casting that tab to the device. Fling does away with that nonsense though, allowing for media to be dragged-and-dropped into the application, whereupon it will begin streaming to the Chromecast.

Looking good. MP4's go over with no problem...But, of course I see you have some transcoding options set up for other formats (like mkv). How will that work? Is this implemented already?
Thanks for the nice app and hard work.

MKV works great! Streaming from my NAS box now. However, the black line for 16:9 is only on top, and picture is at bottom of screen.
However, there is no way to fast forward or rewind.
Wow, this works wonderfully!
I can stream pretty much any video I have on my PC and get video and audio.
Also, you can use the andoid app remotecast https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.benlc.camcast to pause and adjust volume from your phone.
does anyone know how to remove the padding around the videos? when mine plays on the tv it is not centered and the top of the video is cut off

add height=480 and width=760 to your perameters. This will mess with your aspect ratio but it's the only solution I've found. If you can transcode HD then try 720x1280

I don't understand. This isn't working at all for me. Tried both Chromecasts I have on different TVs, but every video file (AVIs and MP4) I try does nothing on the app or on the TV. Sometimes I see a track time start running on the app, but still, nothing but the ready to cast screen TV...
Did I miss something? Running Win8.
I also just updated VLC and still doesn't cast anything at all.
Also, does the config.properties file that creates automatically have to stay in the same location as the .jar file? Do we need to keep this at all?

You won't see anything happen to the app. There's a 10 second delay before video starts on tv.

I don't expect to see anything on the app, but most of the times, the counter for the movie never starts, and even when it does eventually, nothing ever shows up what so ever on the TV. So forget a 10-second delay, I've waited minutes and nothing lol.
Also I noticed that sometimes after loading the .jar, it only finds one Chromecast instead of my 2, or it finds NONE- until I hit refresh.
Ya I can't get it to work either for any video formats. It finds my Chromecast, but when I drag a file, my TV just goes black.

Yes, in the videos I tried, both pause and then play to re-start worked.
Jumping forward/back doesn't work though.
In my test most videos pause like aircast and cheap cast. Fast Internet connection but I just don't think chromecast was built to stream media over local area networks without issues... But what do I know.

Hey all.
I tried using Chromecast today and it just isn't the same anymore.
When trying to play a "Personal Video" there's no option to stream it to the TV.
The only available icon is to share the video, which I did by accident, and now everything is being shared on Google Plus and I can't seem to find a way for this to stop either.
I'm using a Nexus 10, firmware 4.3, and it's not rooted.
Any help or ideas on what has changed recently?
Sees chromecast from ubuntu, nothing on windows
Fling doesn't find my chromecast using windows. but sees it using ubuntu. However nothing plays.
This is sweet!

How can I watch paid videos on Chromecast ?
Right now it does not work for paid videos.
It only works with free videos
I am talking about paid channels for which I have already paid
Example: Willow TV
It gives an error 'cannot play this video, try some other video'
any pointers ?
Do you mean paid content from Play Store? Or from YouTube?

What methods have you tried? You mention your laptop... so I'm going to assume you've installed the Google Cast extension for chrome.
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/google-cast/boadgeojelhgndaghljhdicfkmllpafd
Try:
Opening tab to desired site
Cast tab
Play video
Adjust settings as desired
What did you try in order to get the "Error:cannot play this video, try some other video." message?
---
Also, did you google your question? There is a support page regarding Paid content and the Chromecast.

I don't think this can be done, Google itself says viewing live channels is not possible
Yes I can use cast a chrome tab but it has its own disadvantages, in Google's own words:

I will try and open a ticket, lets see what they say..
Because they say we can see Paid channels if not live events
Are you casting paid content from the button inside the YouTube window on desktop Chrome? Or are you using the Android app? Have you tried both?

Have you been able to find a resolution for this? It lets we match highlights but not replays.
I subscribed to UFC Select Youtube channel hoping it would work on Chromecast. The videos start playing but stop after about a minute or so with a similar message as the OP posted. Unsubscribed

Live streams could work but the Live Stream your talking about probably has some DRM method that won't currently work on the CCast.
Give it time though I'm sure all of those type services will support CCast when they get around to it.

YouTube doesn't support live streaming of any kind on the Chromecast or any of their other DIAL compatible apps on tvs and other devices. Why that is, I have no clue. It has been quite a while and they haven't said anything about live streaming so I wouldn't expect it any time soon.

Likely it has to do with the authentication involved, but it could also have something to do with DRM fears.
Remember that Chromecast is essentially a headless micro-computer client - so it's accessing the media separately from the device making the cast request.
It's like if I called you on the phone and said "Hey, go to this YouTube link" - your YouTube session would have no knowledge of my laptop's session, and if the link I give you isn't available to your account, you won't see it.
Not to mention CCast only supports Widevine and Playready DRM...
It would not surprise me to find that the Live Channels on You Tube are using some other DRM or Encryption method.
You should write to the channel your paying the sub to and get them working on CCast support.

Streaming Flash Player and HTML5

I recently got the chromecast and rooted it and then quickly tried to tab cast some streaming games. While the quality is very good I noticed quite a bit of lagging. So I went out to see if there was any way around this and couldn't really find anything. Also when playing flash videos the sound still comes out of the computer and not the tv. I was thinking we may be able to send these videos directly to the chromecast as they are nothing really but a combination of player + url. I found this but don't really know much about devving so thought maybe I could peak someones interest? Or at least throwing an idea out there.

There will always be lag. A faster computer will reduce the lag, but there will always be some lag as it's a decode-reencode.
Not sure about the Flash sound. I casted this insect sound page from Chrome and the sound switched from PC to Chromecast and back when I stopped casting.

Sometimes the player does special things, but if it's simply an embedded player grabbing a YouTube link, perhaps an "enhanced Cast" extension for Chrome could sniff for the direct YouTube link and cast that to the YouTube app directly... Or even more elaborate, something like a media downloader, but instead of downloading, you can choose and queue to Chromecast. That could be useful.

I tried using first row and the like and have been unable to get sound to come thru tv, matter of fact I've been unable to play full screen, also I was thinking maybe there would be a way to somehow install a custom video player like the many available in the play store directly onto chromecast which would enable direct url and other unsupported content to be played directly by chromecast. This would in turn make streaming as efficient (almost) as the way youtube is handled currently.

nope sound doesnt work with the insect sounds, but does with youtube whether I'm casting the youtube tab or sending directly. Also when I go to hulu and play a video or go to your sound page I get a black box in hulu (no video) or just a blank space for the insect sounds. When I play video on first row I get video but sound from computer. Just for completeness I just got upgraded via an ota from pwncast

Casting (almost) any movie or show

I downloaded Avia to see what it could do.
To my surprise it let me play any movie I had on my device.
I started wondering if I could use it as a app to open any video from any app.
I opened Showbox and selected a show. I pressed "use third party player" and selected Avia. The chromecast button still was highlighted and the show came right to my TV after a couple of seconds.
Just a cool discovery if no one found it out yet.

Avia will cast whatever is on your device. Whether it actually plays on the Chromecast depends on if the video is in a format compatible with Chromecast. You must be lucky and all your media is compatible with Chromecast.

I got confused since you said "any video on my device" but same rules apply.
Any app that allows Share should work with Avia as long as the video is compatible and Avia can retrieve it (if it's a link).

Has anybody figured out a way to cast from sopcast to TV? Using the cast extention for full desktop casting works poorly. I've tried the Android app but there is nothing I could do, like playing on external app like AllCast.
