[Q] nova launcher brightness fluctuates - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Using nova launcher on the z1, 4.3, when I open a folder on the home screen, the whole screen gets a little brighter. Same when using Swype keyboard, though that's not always consistent.
Anyone else get this, is it normal?

didnt have this problem when i was using nova launcher on 4.3 n 4.4

Is that only in nova launcher?

It's not nova launcher. Its the way the panel of the screen for Z1 is.
To test it well, using your Tapatalk to test. Set the theme to a dark one. Then come to a thread and start scrolling.
You'll notice that texts get more white when a bright picture is included in what you scroll, if you go past it, white text go back dull.
Its more like a dynamic thing but it sucks.
It just proves how poor the quality of the lcd is coupled with the viewing angle.

Landscape home screen without rooting,

.I've been using this app with my HTC One X :
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.devasque.rotationlocker
And it seems to work OK,
Locks it in landscape but will not switch in auto. Sorry if this a repost but I have kids so no time to search.

How has this app gone completely unnoticed?
Kinda. I bought the 16gig with the case. I'm left handed and the case, as in most cases, is right handed. So I prefer to use it upside down. Only real difference is the camera is on the bottom. I rarely ever used it and when I do I can easily switch it around. Unfortunately I didn't see this FREE app and bought Ultimate Rotation.
It is also possible using some launchers. I believe Apex and or Nova allow it to auto rotate.

I can confirm Apex lets you.
If you long press on auto, it should allow you to rotate it freely.
From my understanding the stock launcher doesn't have rotation at all. I believe a modded stock launcher was created just for this.
Does this rotation all rotate the stock launcher?
I simply use Apex. The stock launcher is what was stuck in portrait mode.

Funny thing when you do tablet ui AFAIK it'll rotate.
Ah just tried the long press and works!
SME widgets are a bit buggered but hey it works, and completely stock and no special launchers.

Thanks for the tip, but what do you mean by auto? I tried long pressing the auto in the pull down notification bar with no luck.
Any suggestions?
This is cool, but it would be much better if it had a better/more useful widget!

Question about LCD density

I noticed that when I edited the LCD density to be 360 it works great however I noticed that the search bar in the dialer moved to the top if the screen rather than staying in its home on the bottom of the screen. Any way to fix that?

Just a quick update. I was able to fix this issue by using a density of 400. Not quiet so small but big enough that the launcher no longer dies this.

Does a Custom Launcher Sit on top of Stock Launcher?

Alright, completely random question. When you use a custom launcher, is the stock launcher still running in the background?

I'm running nova launcher prime as default right meow. I have a button on my homescreen to take me to sense, which is fully customized with widgets and such, for when I wanna look through blink feed or whatever sense only toggles.
I'm not sure if they both run simultaneously though.
Slick set up imo.

Always wondered that. Seems like a Ram waste if it did.
Yeah. Still haven't been able to figure it out

Turn off scrolling wallpaper

Is there a way to turn off scrolling wallpaper without using a third party launcher?
Nope!
I haven't found a way..

Just select any other wallpaper. Or did i understand you wrong? :|
You could always use another launcher with more settings like nova there you can disable it.
(e) nevermind, didn't completely read your post
Cheers guys, I've decided that I prefer Nova Prime anyway so it's no longer an issue

Anyone else wonder why so much of the screen is unused?

Wondering why this is? Picture below...
That's where your Google search bar goes.
Are you sure?
Use a launcher and change the grid.
Yeah I'm on Nova Launcher and you can change the sizes
Yep, Nova Launcher is the bomb!
Maybe it's because they know you can't reach that part of the screen without doing hand gymnastics anyway?

I always use nova launcher, and always will :good:
+1 for Nova. I've noticed that the Samsung widgets work with it now so can't see any reason to use the stock launcher.
