1st. You have to choose whether your going with the STOCK ROM method or NANDROID BACKUP method.
2nd. After you install the stock rom, the stock rom will let you choose if you want to install super user or not. And I did not install super user using the stock rom. I did it manually.

[Q] Orange UK return to stock

Hi,
I have read various return to stock guides, but seem to be getting more and more confused!
I am currently running TWRP and CM11 on my HTC One. Before loaded CM I did a full TWRP backup of my stock Sense ROM.
Here is my getvar all info:-
(bootloader) version: 0.5
(bootloader) version-bootloader: 1.55.0000
(bootloader) version-baseband: 4A.21.3263.04
(bootloader) version-cpld: None
(bootloader) version-microp: None
(bootloader) version-main: 3.63.61.1
(bootloader) version-misc: PVT SHIP S-OFF
(bootloader) serialno:
(bootloader) imei:
(bootloader) meid: 00000000000000
(bootloader) product: m7_ul
(bootloader) platform: HBOOT-8064
(bootloader) modelid: PN0710000
(bootloader) cidnum: ORANG001
(bootloader) battery-status: good
(bootloader) battery-voltage: 3931mV
(bootloader) partition-layout: Generic
(bootloader) security: off
(bootloader) build-mode: SHIP
(bootloader) boot-mode: FASTBOOT
(bootloader) commitno-bootloader: dirty-b0a25cb2
(bootloader) hbootpreupdate: 11
(bootloader) gencheckpt: 0
I cannot find the Orange UK RUU file anywhere which is causing me the biggest headache. Given the information I have provided, what is the best way to get my phone back to 100% stock? (locked/no tamper message etc and able to receive updates).
Many thanks,
Andy
Restore your backup, unroot, restore official recovery, should be ok to leave s-off, relock bootloader. Factory reset. Think that should suffice.

Thanks very much. So, apologies for my simplistic view on these things, but I am not that experienced with this.
* Copy the backup file to my phone
* Boot to recovery and do a TWRP recovery of the backup file
Once there, where do I find the official recovery? Is this specific to my region and carrier (Orange UK)?
Thanks for the quick response.
Andy
Once your backup is restored, your can check Rom version from settings. Recovery should be standard for that Rom version, there are a few threads with stock recoveries. In boot loader command is: fastboot flash recovery recovery.img sorry I'm on train can't go in depth right now. Good luck

I appreciate you taking the time to reply. I will restore my ROM and check the version. I'm not in a huge rush so if you our someone else is around to guide me then that's great.
Ok, I've restored my stock backup. I now have 4.3 running with TWRP recovery. I'd like to get to the point where I can do an OTA update to 4.4.2.
What's the next step?
Anyone?

Thanks.I've read through that guide. The only option for my phone is a CWM nandroid file. Will this out the stock recovery back on my phone that is running TWRP or is that just the stock OS.without recovery?

Thanks, sorry I missed that.
That list does not appear to include the Orange UK RUU unless I'm missing something. I believe is should be 3.63.61.1, but I have searched everywhere but cannot find it. Is there another option?
Also, my main PC is running Windows 8.1 - I believe there can be a problem using this? I do have access to a Win7 machine if thats safer.
Sorry for being such a pain about this!
I have found this:-
http://www.htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads/P70
Which includes Orange UK. Are these the recovery files as they appear much larger than the ones posted elsewhere?

Hi, the Nandroid backup was one I created through TWRP before flashing CM11 originally. Which recovery should I use for Orange UK? Do I simply pick another UK carrier? Or maybe another Orange recovery (e.g. France?)
If I dont have the correct recovery installed for my region/carrier, will that stop me from receiving OTA updates?

I'm pretty sure the op thread states to use twrp recovery, please download and flash version 2.6.3.3 through fastboot then when you get into recovery do a standard wipe not an advanced wipe and try flash the Rom again

EDIT: After installing TWRP recovery it wont start, I just see a logo and then it goes to the htc logo and nothing happens, tried the newest version and I've already tried all the older versions, what else should I try?
Are you on an international device or a spirit or verzion device ?
Can you also post a fastboot getvar all too please, be sure to remove the serial number and imei before posting though

first you need to get the correct recovery back on your phone then find a stock rom in the Verizon forums
If you goto the twrp site, just Google twrp recovery, you can probably download one for particular model, also I'm pretty sure roms like arhd and viper one have links in the main op thread the verzion editions of their roms, that's if of course you want a custom Rom.
Thanks
thanks for your help, I was able to get the phone working properly again, so it turned out I did have adb working but only when in the CWMR, so I pushed the rom.zip to my phone using adb and then I flashed it using CWMR, I still don't know why TWRP wouldn't work. But thanks a lot for your help. I guess the thread can be closed now.

if you have rooted the phone and cant get OTA updates, then why dont go one step further and just flash a custom ROM... like the ViperOne 6.2.0 which is based on sense 6 and right now on android 4.4.2... beside they will get the updates to 4.4.3 soon...

HI you can have a full description on addictivetips.com about the pros and con of Stock and Custom Rom... to cut it short stock rom are from the supplier of your phone... let say in your case it will be from HTC .... and a custom rom is from developers.... which in my humble opinion deliver the good with a much better functionality.
In my case i have a HTC one M7 UL... and i could not have OTA, so i had no other possibility than to go for custom to have the latest android... I DONT REGRET AT ALL.... AND BESIDE I ENJOY A LOT OF ADDED FEATURES.
just be careful and pick up the right version depending on your carrier. If you go on venomrom. com you will have the download link for Viper rom... just have a look and read before doing anything.

quote from phone dog
Custom ROMs are different from the stock UI that the manufacturer provides for you, and depending on the ROM they can be different in many ways. Some ROM developers like to change a lot of things: the software version, the speed of the phone, the skin of the device, the way the icons look, the font, etc. Custom ROMs are a great way for somebody who is new to rooting their Android to visually grasp the concept of everything you can change. It's a premade layout that differs from the same UI that you've been dealing with since the day you got the device and often times enhances the performance of your phone.

Not WWE version, WWE version are .401 Its a Dev edition version .1540 and will required TWRP to be restored, not CWM.
There is also a newer dev edition rom posted here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one/development/rom-slightlycustomrom-sense-4-4-3-6-07-t2820583
based on 6.07.1540.1 which is the latest version of dev edition software. Its a slightly custom rom (not much modded) so it could be a good start for the OP if he never flashed custom rom.
if the op wants to be stock, then the nandroid bakcup you have pointed is the best solution imo

You most likely overread an "S". The 2.1.0 sounds like the current version for the One S. Whereas the 6.2 is the recent build for the One (M7). Thus the 6.2 sounds like your version of choice.

Its not a rom, its a backup. You can use that backup to "restore" your phone to 5.11.1540.1. Backup are made and restored from a custom recovery, in that case, its a backup of stock 5.11.1540.1 made using twrp recovery so it must be restored using twrp recovery.

ah, ok. So, if I use a nandroid backup, It has to be for the same rom. that doesn't substitute a rom, isnt'?

Rom is a zip file installed (flashed) from custom recovery
Nandroid backup are image file (.img) restored from custom recovery.
A nandroid backup can be used to restore/backup the /system partition (rom/software), the /data partition (user data), /boot partition (kernel) and /cache partition (app cache). In your case, the nandroid backup linked in post 2 is a backup of /system (the rom) and /boot (the rom kernel). Restoring it is like flashing a rom.

[Q] Restore to Stock ROM and Lock BL

Hi Everyone,
Okay so I have spent the last 3 hours following various guides in order to restore my ViperOne ROM HTC One M7 to a stock HTC ROM along with locking the bootloader again, everything I've tried has failed though. I'm wondering if anyone here can help me as I need to sell this phone ASAP but can't do that until I restore to stock.
Anyway, the bootloader was unlocked using the HTCDev website and I then installed the custom ROM after that. The Bootloader version appears to be 1.57, not sure if that actually matters.
I tried locking the bootloader which worked and then tried to restore using the O2 UK RUU which failed (The app just crashes at the same point every time).
So I'd really appreciate any help from you guys
Thanks in advance

Post a fastboot getvar all with the imei and serialno removed. I am guessing that the RUU you ran was for an earlier version and unless you are S-OFF you can only run RUUs that are same OS version or higher.
You will need to use this guide to return to stock.

You were correct, I was trying to boot a lower version. I heard that people have had luck using Firewater to S-OFF with CM11 installed. It didn't help me though. Anything you might be able to suggest would be a massive help! Thanks

Based on your getvar all you have a Int'l (.401) phone not an O2 UK branded phone. You will need to follow the directions of this site for stock rom 5.11.401.10 and you should be back whole. You can get the stock firmware if you need it from this site: http://xda7.androidrevolution.org/db_mirror/Firmware/index.php?dir=HTC%2FHTC_One%2F401%2F Just select the 5.11.401.10 firmware.
For S-OFF, you need to be as close to stock as you can. If you are getting "whelp not able to S-OFF" then you might look at Sunshine S-OFF, but there is a price use it.
I realised that I had the international version shortly after posting my information back to you in this thread. Okay so I'm not really interested in getting S-OFF, I only wanted it to be able to use the RUU to restore to stock. So if I just follow method 1 from the post you linked me too, will I be back to get back to stock sense? I assume that I would still see "relocked" and "tampered" in my bootloader?
Thanks for all your help so far!
That worked a charm!!! I'm back on stock FW!!! Thank you! One thing though, will the person I sell the phone too be able to get software updates in future?

If you have stock rom, stock recovery & stock firmware, he/she should be able to get OTA assuming you did not put a custom recovery or root after flashing the stock fw.

That's great news! Would the fact that I ran the stock FW recovery zip from your link mean that I no longer have TWRP on my phone or do I have to do something else to get rid of that too?

How can i make my phone alive again. please help me out.
Firstly, you need to remove your IMEI unless its dummy IMEI.
Secondly, what is the current status of the device, can you provide some explanation as to what do you need ? Do you need stock ROM, custom ROM, are you on TWRP.
I see its an orange device, but from which country ?

My apologies as I did not notice.
In this case you have more than 1 option.
You can download the stock from here, Latest available version : http://6468.ir/dl/?r=69941de85dfdb4dd73025bba2768d3ce
View the attachment to press the right button for download, site is not English.
You will need stock recovery to flash stock firmware.
Flash details can be found here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-mini-2/general/htc-one-mini-2-official-ruu-t3425930
Or you can do from a Nandroid Backup using TWRP without having to flash stock recovery but you will need a Nandroid Backup of the same device with stock ROM.

First of all thank you for taking time to help me out. I started to download that recovery and i noticed that its an O2 recovery and my CID is orange. do you think that could be a problem?
It looks like it will take me ages to download that file from there...

The ROM is based on your Baseband number and matches exactly with the ROM link provided.
What is your original device, Orange or O2 and which country did you buy it in ?
Could you elaborate on trying Nandroid and not working ?

The origin of the devices is UK orange. I bought it in the UK. As for the nandroid bkups they get stuck on the htc logo or they post signature failure. the only software accepted are the custom ones. Beside those ones nothing worked.
*** the file that you pointed for download matches my build but its kinda impossible to download due to slow download speed provided by the website and there are no other alternative websites to get it from

If the device is UK Orange and your Radio number indicates an O2, have you purchased a new unit, I'm having a feeling it might have SuperCID but for that you need to have S-Off ?
If they get stuck on HTC Logo, you might want to flash the boot file for your device after restoring from a Nandroid backup.
You can try and add that file into a download manager and have a peace of mind there.

Probably you are right about the superCID i really dont know. All i know is that now it says orange001 and S-on even if the radio points to O2. As for the nandroids i have tried all posible ways. Flushed boot before and after the firmware and still gets stuck on the htc logo... maybe i didnt quite got the right nandoid for the device... as none of them had the radio or build version as mine.

Manged to revert it back to stock based on the recovery that you have pointed out.
erased everything
1) flashed boot
2) moved bkup to sdcard
3) restored bkup
4) flushed boot again
5) back to stock
