Thats sounds like a driver issue, Make sure you have installed the drivers before trying to connect in flashmode.
Install pccompanion and run it then attach phone whilst it is turned on. That will install the correct drivers, then it should work

thank you Greg for reply. I have uninstalled both SUS and Pc Companion and then reinstalled SUS first but once launched I receive an error message and SUS closes.
Then I have uninstalled SUS and reinstalled Pc Companion, then connected the phone and started the upgrade procedure. Unfortunately, it stops when asks me to plug in the usb cable while pressing the volume down key, and then nothing happens... again...
On the drive page of Windows Seven, there is: "Apple Mobile Device Usb Driver: ready for use"
Tryed also on another pc but the same thing happens
what can I do to upgrade my T?
thanks

It shouldnt be an apple device.
make sure you have installed the drivers. Did you do this
1) Uninstall all sony programs (PCCompanion, SUES etc)
2) Reinstall PCCompanion
3) OPen PCCompanion
4) Turn on phone and attach to PC
5) Let the drivers install
6) Then try to update

thank you again Greg, I did it but without any result.
It asks me to keep the volume down key pushed and then connect the usb cable but once done, nothing still happens...
Should I turn off the Usb debug option?
I start thinking that my phone will never be updated...
bye
have a nice day

No, you need USB debugging enabled and you should be in MTP mode for your connectivity in settings
Does the computer make any noise when you connect?
Does the phone do anything when you connect, like power up, or do you get a green LED light up?
Try this, and report back
Download, instal and run flash tool
Try to connect to that in flash mode. Post here what flash tool says
Sent from my LT30p xda premium app.
How do I customise the signature on xda premium app?

Hi Greg,
I have downloaded and installed Flashtool but when I try to run it i get the attached error message and of course it doesn't start. Both antivirus and firewall were disabled.
What do you mean when you say: "Then try to attach in flashmode"? Perhaps a special combination of keys during boot?
thanks

Thats a windows issue, all I can suggest is removing all sony programs, rebooting and starting again. Also, make sure you have java installed.
Or try another machine, to see if its your computer thats at fault.
Once you have flashtool installed properly and it runs properly we can continue.
Hi Greg,
finally it works!!!.
I had to change the property of flashtool.exe and set it to be compatible with Windows 2000.... that's all...
Now, once connected the phone, flashtool reports:

Instal pccompanion and update that way,
If there is no official update for you then you can flash an updated ftf in flashtool, or root and/or unlock your bootloader to flasha custom rom.
Its all in the all in the one thread, give it a good read
While You were writing, I have installed Sus but with the same bad result:
I get the attached error message, and log file reports:

Run PC Companion to repair your phone
"From Sony Xperia Support
Francis
Visit this link:
http://www.sonymobile.com/us/tools/pc-companion/
Click on Download PC companion
Turn the phone off and disconnect it from the computer
1. No matter what the program says do not connect the phone until you complete step 9
2. In the welcome screen you will see the different modules available for you including the "support zone" option. Click on "Start" below it.
3. On the next page Click on "Start" under "Phone Software update"
At this point if you get an error stating that "unable to install update components" or "server is bussy" Please proceed to step 12
4. The program will say that there is no phone connected. Click on the option below that reads: "Repair my phone" the program will issue you a warning on the content that you will lose during the update
5. Choose the option to continue.
6. The program will issue a final message warning you of possible data lost during the update. Click on the checkmark and then on "Next".
7. After that, the program will download the necessary information (5 to 6 minutes) and it will present you with a list of phones.
8. Choose the Phone from the list then click on "next" then you will see a new section telling you how to connect the phone. (don't connect it yet)
At this point the phone must be off and disconnected from the PC.
9. Connect the cable to the PC not to the phone, then wile pressing and holding the indicated button (in the steps on screen an specific button will be shown for you to press on the phone) connect the cable to the phone and keep holding the indicated button until the program says "the update of your phone has started..." (in some cases a message of "Installing drivers" will appear before the message of "the update of your phone has started..." is shown.)
10. If you failed to follow the steps correctly the phone will turn on and it will request that you "Proceed with the following steps, slide down the notification bar", If this happens disconnect the phone from the cable, turn it off and repeat from step 9).
11. If the phone is connected properly, PC Companion will proceed with the update ( It will tell you to let go of the back key) then wait for the update to finish and follow instructions on screen to disconnect the unit.
Dear customer,
12. If "unable to install update components"
1. Close Pc companion
2. Install Java from: http://www.java.com
3. start Pc companion again and try to do the software unlock process once more.
Note: If you wish only to update the unit wait for the porgtam to open and then select the quick link on the uper left corner that says "Update Phone/Tablet" and follow the instructions to perform the update. (the PC may request for the phone to be placed in Mass Storage mode. Do this by going into Settings>Xperia>Connectivity>USB connection mode)
Some computers may block the installation of the update service, if this happens use this:
http://www.sonymobile.com/us/tools/update-service/ this is the Standalone update software.
If the Phone is unresponsive (Xperia Ion then do this extra step and when done proceed to redo the repair process:
Press and hold the power button and the volume up button at the same time for 10 to 15 seconds. This will reset the unit) "
Hello,

So my question is, am I doing something wrong and if so, please advise.

thats better you now have a ADB device installed, you should now be able to put your phone into flashmode
power off your phone with usb diconnected, hold vol down and reconnect turned off phone to usb and you should now get green led and flashtool will say device connected in flashmode but you only have about a min in flashmode before phone reboots
Thank you for your help and effort but even now it keeps disconnecting device. I don't know where the problem is, maybe I'm not doing something as I should.
This is the procedure I was trying:
1) I select Flash device in flash tool
2) I select Flashmode mode
3) I choose which firmware to flash and click Flash so flash tool can start it's magic
4) When flash tool shows message that I can remove my device from USB and turn it off I do so
5) I also press volume down and reconnect the device with the PC.
6) Problem happens here
what about if flashtool isnt ready to flash file, does flashtool pick it up (4 and 5)
it will say device connected in flashmode with green led
Yeah, it does pick it up and displays a message "Device connected in flash mode" and after awhile "Device disconnected".

The above didn't work for me because I received error based on my type of phone.
This guide however did help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2240614
I had to reboot windows to a settings to enable unsigned drivers. Installed Flashtool and it's drivers,
First unlocked the bootloader(BLU button, got the IMEI, used the sony form (http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions))
Then I downloaded the stock sony xperia z ftf image, placed it in Flashtool's firmware folder, then flashed it (flash device > flash mode).
Now my phone's working again.

If you still can enter custom recovery, you only need flash rom and (with) suitable kernel.
If not, you need Flashtool.
- make sure you have the newest version of flashtool and driver
- connect your phone to pc.
- when computer show error about usb not recognized, go to computer management - device manager. Find something in universal serial bus controller list that have yellow triangle and exclamation mark. right click and remove it
- disconnect your phone then reboot your pc
- install flashtool and driver, reboot pc again
- connect your phone to pc. Now, it should detect your phone.
- do flashing procedure

Your phone is bricked bro. You have to do some steps to resolve this.
1. Download flashtool & stock ftf file of sony c6603.
2. Install the flashtool on your computer and install the drivers which you can find in flashtool folder in c:/ partition of your computer. Note- disable signature verification before installation of drivers.
3. Now turn off your phoneandd open the flashtool and select flash via flashmode and select ftf file. Note- place ftf file in firmware folder of flashtool present in partition c:/.
4. Now click flash and wait for some time it will trll you to connect the phone.
5. Now press your vol down button constantly and connect to pc via usb. It may or may not show green led but you can check the flashtool showing device connected in flashmode.
6. Wait for 5-10 minutes it will say dettach your device and congrats you have your phone back.
