[Q] Autoremote tasker, and samsung smart remote - Samsung Galaxy Gear

i need a few things to be done but not sure if possible.
Ok i have tasker and autovoice and an app called samsung smart remote. What im looking to do is use autovoice to toggle my lights at home (wemo switches) i can do it from my phone but watch would be way easier. Im also looking for tasker to work with each other. Like if i want it to change channels with the smart remote app from my watch. (im aware the gear 2 can do this but i dont have the money to spend on another gear watch) Is any of this possible at all? Thanks so much in advance for the help.

You can get an ir plugin for tasker
Use AutoVoice to send command to phone via Autoremote. Then Autoremote to trigger tasker profile/task/etc
EDIT: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2438052
I think you'd have to use push button type code in app or find intents if they exists if not using ir

Open issues to be solved

Just thought it was a good idea to open a thread with "issues" to be solved or things we want to get working on the Gear. I myself have a thing of two that I want to solve. For this I searched through some threads, saw some people mention the problems but never found a solution (although apparently other people were working on it to).
Because I like to be part of the solution but don't want to reinvent the wheel I thought it is maybe a good idea to sum some things up that need a solution in one thread.
Basic thing that I'm looking for and not sure if it is solved is
enable/disable BT tethering with just one tap (so to speak). Ideally automagically when opening an app that needs an internet connection
(If the problem isn't solved I was thinking to write an app for this)
(Reserved : list with open issues )
Id love someone to be able to rewrite the newest gear manager to work with people not on 4.3.
Or someone to get the things not working on 4.2 like weAther etc.
A native sms app that syncs with the phone properly. or get tablet talk to display names.

Very easy with Tasker & Bluetooth Auto Connect.
Iv set up so if my device is locked & the screen is off for 30 seconds, it will disable bluetooth tethering for battery reasons. Iv also setup so if I slide two fingers up on my Novalauncher homescreen it will enable bluetooth tethering. Alternatively you can also enable a launcher shortcut which will execute the task.
You can also setup so bluetooth tethering will automatically be activated when launching certain applications.
If you need further instructions, dont hesitate. Tasker can be a little intimidating at first if this is your first time using it.
I'd quite like to be able to swipe away notifications, both individually and per app. Currently it's a bit of a hassle..!

I've never used tasker before. Maybe worthwhile to dive into it.
Also played with Bluetooth Auto Connect. I used it to maintain a connection. (But concluded very quickly that that will drain the battery of the Gear like hell LoL). Where do you use Bluetooth Auto Connect for in this scenario? I mean,if I understand you correctly everything can be done with Tasker.

Bluetooth auto connect works as a plugin for tasker also, so you can incorporate bluetooth auto connect functions in your tasks.
You must get tasker, its a device changer.. both phone & gear.

I'd also quite like to have 2 finger double tap to show recent apps and 2 finger long press to show battery info.
i would love to have double tap on the watch to wake.

fOmey do i only need tasker on the phone in order to do that? The way i am manually doing it is i first enable tether on the phone ands then dive into the full settings on the Gear.
If the phone stops tethering then the Gear option automatically gets unticked, but it does not work the other way around.
I have tasked installed on both phone and gear. Could you please provide some instructions?
Also, have you checked Atooma? I have it both on the S4 and the Gear and i can do stuff on the phone with three triggers from the watch:
1) Horizontal movement
2) Vertical movement
3) Photo taken
Does tasker integrate with the watch the way Atooma does?
Thanx again for everything you have done.
YOU ARE THE MAN!
I'd like to be able to scroll down and see a playlist and pick a song

[Guide] Tasker - Tasker/AutoRemote/etc ~ Videos ~ Guides ~ Profiles for Gear

I am in no way attempting to take credit for this program or any profiles created unless my name is annotated next to a published link. Support these guys buy buying their app(s) as this is a tremendous backend for amazing automation for today and the future.
In an effort to help everyone new to Tasker (and its associated apps like AutoRemote) and its capabilities, I'm starting this thread to list profiles that people are actively using on their gear.
What is Tasker?
Tasker is an application for Android which performs tasks (sets of actions) based on contexts (application, time, date, location, event, gesture) in user-defined profiles or in clickable or timer home screen widgets.
What are some of the things I can use these apps for?
While the number of uses for Tasker is limitless and only supressed by your imagination, here is a list of published tasker profiles that people have created for common yet out of the box thinking type usage: Tasker Profiles
Here are only some of the things you could do with Tasker, it's real power is the flexibility to combine contexts and tasks however you wish.
passcode-lock sensitive applications (e.g. for child safety)
change phone settings by
*application: long screen timeout in a book reader
*time: screen brightness lower in the evening
*location: ringer volume high at the office, turn off ke yguard at home
wake up with a random song from your music collection
Text-to-speech; read out loud: incoming SMS/ phone number, WiFi/Bluetooth status, when it's time for an appointment, when the battery is low etc etc (Android OS 1.6+ only)
launch a music application when your music SD card is inserted, otherwise a file browser
start the day with a particular application showing
change all your home icons and wallpaper every day, or in particular locations
turn the phone upside down to return to the home screen, tilt 90 degrees to the left and back to toggle speakerphone during a call
create a Home widget to
*toggle bluetooth/wifi on/off
*launch wireless settings dialog
*show a menu of tasks to choose
*send an emergency SMS with your GPS location
remap camera etc buttons to other applications, or show a menu of applications and/or actions
zip/unzip application data on the fly when an application is launched/exits
pause music playback while in a particular application, restart on exit
change the Home icon for any application
take a time-lapse photo series (possibly 'secretly')
make a regular backup of a file on the SD card
track your phone location via SMS in case of theft
extend the use of the media button on your headset: take a picture from a distance or go to the previous media track with a long press
record call times and destinations to the SD card
show a popup when an SMS arrives from a particular phone number
setup a birthday SMS to be sent months before it happens so you don't forget
record battery levels over time to a file on SD card
make automatic recordings of what you say during phone calls to SD card
during the night, turn on airplane mode to conserve battery/reduce radiation, but turn it off every 15 minutes to check for SMS/voicemail.
setup a vacation SMS message, with different messages for different callers
launch a music application when headphones are connected

Cool
Here's one that I've been using:

Recommended companion app: AutoRemote
What we really need is an update to Tasker to allow exporting...
I would love if this thread develops and thank you for starting it...i am trying to learn how to use tasker to get weather widgets to read weather from stock weather widget.....F0mey said you needed SQlite which i have and tasker...but im lost from there
It has taken me the better part of 4 days to get mine set up for voice automation. I know I've barely gotten started but I can now give a voice command to the gear and have it open Pandora and adjust the volumes on the phone. Then pause Pandora and readjust the volumes with another command. Think entering and exiting your car. Having this core structure in place, I think as I move to a full home automation plan, I will be able to integrate it with no problems.
Tasker, Autovoice, and Autoremote are all required. When I get a little more time, I'll try to decompress all that I learned over these 4 days to create a tutorial.
In the meantime, if you search autovoice and autoremote on Youtube, you can find some great assistance. Armando Ferreira has some great tutorials that really helped me get to where I am (and pushing me to where I want to be).
I was hoping someone can help me with what I am trying to do. First I'll explain what I want and then show screen shots of what I tried. So basically I want my weather info to be set for UCCW widgets and it seems u need tasked and sqlite to do so. And no null has sqlite support so I'll show u what I've done.
I know I'm probably totally off but can anyone tell me if I'm close or help

Do you have to have an internet connection on you Gear for the initial Autoremote setup? I really just need the bluetooth connection to my phone to send intents to trigger tasks from there. I've googled the crap out of it but keep coming to the same posts. Thanks!

I'm having the same issue. I can get autoremote to send through BT occasionally but not consistently.
I also have trouble with autovoice offline. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.

Nice thread, everyone can take use of the Tasker Power!
And thanks for the prop
When I double tap Nova, I use AutoVoice recognised Profile on Gear to send an autoremote message to the phone.
When the phone receives the message, it opens my Spotify playlist, and starts playing,
It also uses intents within Spotify to open the now playing window

Any of you tasker experts know how trigger an event on an incoming call on the Gear? I've tried Event --> phone ringing, and it doesn't seem to trigger anything when I get a call. I was thinking maybe there's a way to do it with Intent Received, but I don't know which intent...
I wanted the gear to play a ringtone once when I receive a call (while the gear is set to 'vibrate')
I can achieve this using Autoremote. The phone ringing event works on the phone itself, so I had Autoremote send a message "RING" to the gear, and the gear received this and played the ringtone... it wasn't really a good way to do it, and wasted battery because I had to keep the Autoremote bluetooth listener on.

I think you may need to find out what 'app' opens. Perhaps dialer? And trigger on app start as it doesn't seem to use the actually phone capabilities of android

I just tried dailer ... didn't work Doesn't see like there are any other apps on the tasker app list that would apply to incoming calls. That's why i was thinking there was an intent or something else that could be monitored.
I have a simple one for alerting of Whatsapp messages (got sick of watch constantly alerting on group messages). Essentially it triggers a notification, then hides it
Make sure Tasker is set to send notificiations in Gear Manager
Make sure Tasker is turned on in Accessibility services
Profile: Notification Whatsapp
Cooldown: 5mins
Event: Notification
Owner Application: WhatsApp
Task: WhatsApp Message
1. Notify
Title: Whatsapp
Text: Message Received
Icon: [Can be anything, as doesn't show up anywhere]
2. Wait
Seconds: 5
3. Notify Cancel
Title: whatsApp
Further ideas:
- Display content (requires sqlite3)
- Only display for group chats
- Repeat alerts

Control Your Home Automation Devices Using Android Wear (Video)

I finally figured this out. I have Insteon and Z-wave devices being controlled by an ISY controller (google these if you are not familiar). I basically used Tasker and the Mobilinc plugin to create a task to control my garage door. Then I created a tasker widget for that task on my phone. I then installed wearable widgets on my new LG G watch ( you guys could easily use the Gear Live) so any widget can be controlled on the Android Wear smart watch.
ie. This allows me to open or close my garage door with a single tap on my LG G watch or your Samsung Gear Live. You could control any home automation device or program you have directly from your smart watch running Android Wear!!!
This took my some time to figure out.
Hope you enjoy!!! :cyclops:

Nice!! I've been toying with the idea of buying a smartwatch, just not sure which one yet. This is the kind of stuff I want to do though, and control my philips hue lights.
Now... if we could come up with a way to remotely execute powershell scripts on a server, I'd be a happy camper!

Very cool, you can really start to get an idea of how powerful this can be when you start daisy-chaining things together like this. I use IFTTT to set temp on my nest and also use hue control to control lights. Pretty coo, but what you are doing here has a lot more potential. I have been using Locale for years, but it is time to learn and understand tasker.
Thanks again

[Q] App to launch app on phone / google voice

So the s-voice has proven fairly limited to Google Now. I've managed to get Google now (on my phone) to intercept and listen to command from my Galaxy Gear 1 stock (setting in Google Now to listen from Bluetooth). However, what would complete the equation is if I can launch Google Now from the GG. Is there an app that can do this? Preferably hook into the Power button on GG, but would I would settle for a simple widget on screen.
I've also tried the Null 23 ROM, but what I've noticed is the Google Now Bluetooth listening functionality no longer worked after that (nor did the camera app that came with NULL rom!). Since the listening part doesn't work, the only option left was to make the GG handle Google Now directly on the gear, which is not optimal (shifting more processing to watch = more processing/battery drain/slower/more mod/tethering to deal with etc)
I'm using Tmobile Note 4. I would prefer not to have to root if possible. Any help/ideas greatly appreciated!
Thanks!
I'm running null 23 with my note 3 and the listening function on Google now works. You have to enable it in settings. Combine this with tasker and tasgear, and you'll get exactly what you're seeking. Search in this forum.

I'm on the Tmobile Note 4. To get Google Now (in the phone) recognition via Bluetooth, did you have to do any special config after you installed the null 23?
Also, is there any easy way to work on Tasker on the gear? After playing with custom ROMs and configuring on the gear, it doesn't seem that fun typing with fat fingers :X
Also, are you tethering with PDAnet or standard Bluetooth tether? The PDANet route with xpose framework still feels unstable (Voice on the Gear as standalone would not recognize my commands).
Same thing. Tasgear and tasker on Nul Rom,
Gear shortcut to launch tasker task to use taskger start tasker task on phone.
Tasker on phone turns on screen and launches google now
Google now on phone uses BT to listen to the gear
Tethering isn't required for this function.
When I do tether, I use Bluetooth Auto Connect on Gear which has tasker plugin
fat fingers

I'm also running the null Rom on my gear. I use the bluetooth tether option in the gear Bluetooth settings. So far I've tried both using Google now straight from the gear and the Bluetooth headset way. Sometimes the intent triggers without intention on the phone which seems to play havoc with spotify so currently I'm leaning more to the use of Google now via the gear alone. Also I find it easier when i can see the search, especially for note to self actions.
Anyway as the title suggests.... I'm no fan of typing on a tiny keyboard, it's a novelty and could be handy for a short text but I find holding my arm in the right position a pain after a while and it's difficult when you're typing stuff like com.orbonis.gear or whatever. Here are not 1 but 3 ways to make it easier.
1. Bluetooth keyboard. I've been using a Bluetooth keyboard with the gear off my wrist as a tiny monitor. Pros good typing experience and looks cool. Cons it can be fiddly to connect (I have to press var simultaneously on my keyboard and it can take a few go's to work) and it's not very portable.
2. Copy and paste. Although I've not been able to get copy and paste to work natively on my gear it works within tasker itself. You'd only have to type a message and a perform task once and then change the extras (which is easier than typing com.orbonis etc). However I think I've found a workaround. I was running the Swype keyboard (paid apk which I then downloaded via realapkleecher to pc, sideload to gear via adb) you can paste with this keyboard. I've found an app called clipper+ which is a syncing clipboard app. Downloaded straight from the play store tonight and was able to sync to the phone version. So I can now see my phones clipboard on the gear. When I get time I'll put Swype back on the gear and see if this does give a workaround for copy and paste.
3. Export from phone. I've not done this for tasker profiles but for apk files and zooper widgets from the phone via Bluetooth sharing from a file manager on the phone. Should be possible to do something similar for a tasker task. Just write the task on the phone and figure out how to send it lol.
Thanks for the great suggestion. I went with the bluetooth keyboard route for now. The other two routes are also viable, but I'm going to try keep it simple on the watch for now. I ended up tasker to intercept svoice and run task to kill it and invoke google voice on the phone instead.
Thanks again!

Could you share the task descriptions? I'm very interested in how others use tasker with the gear. So far I've been using it for things like making Bluetooth tether a one button start and I've been looking at using apps like zooper to launch tasks. Recently I've also worked out a reasonable way to launch tasks on the watch with a command from the phone. I'll probably using that to add to my geo cache tasks on the phone. So when do something like going shopping the phone well recognise the location and the watch will bring up my shopping list, turn on Bluetooth tether, control motions/screen brightness etc.
You could create a profile on your gear that does the following:
When s voice is launched on the gear, kill it and send an intent to the phone.
On your phone, make sure Bluetooth headset is enabled in the Google search app. Then, create the following profile:
When the intent is received, wake the phone, open Google voice and start a search.

Using a 2-button BT camera remote control clicker as the input for tasker.

I want to use a 2-button BT camera remote control clicker as the input for tasker.
If one of the buttons of the remote is pushed, then tasker should initiate a call to a phone number-1 (that is dial the number-1). If the other button of the remote is pushed, then tasker should initiate a call to a phone number-2.
The goal is to fully automate the process, so only a single push of a button will initiate a call.
I want to do it for my elderly mother for (non-medical) emergencies.
Will I be able to achieve what I want with Tasker?
Will it be say, 90% reliable solution?
Bluetooth Remote Control by CamKix
Even before I got to the end of your post, I said to myself this sounds like they are trying to build a sort of life alert system. Brilliant!
I just wanted to say how great an idea that is, but not sure how to Intercept/interact with a BT device. Yet, seems possible. Maybe the AutoNotification plugin?
