I am attempting to unlock the bootloader on my HTC One. I am using the HTCdev method. I get to the step where I have to type "fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin" into cmd. cmd returns the following:

OKAY [ 0.143s]
writing 'unlocktoken'...

However, my phone stays on the white fastboot menu and doesn't shift to a new prompt.
Other possibly relevant information:
HTCsync doesn't recognize my device at all.
My computer DOES recognize my device, however, as it appears as an entry in device manager.
Typing "adb devices" into cmd returns a list with nothing in it, so adb is not recognizing the device either apparently.
Thanks very much to anyone who can offer help.

''adb devices'' only works when phone booted into OS or in recovery. In bootloader mode, use ''fastboot devices''.
You device should be listed as ''My Htc'' in windows devices manager. If not, your drivers are probably not installed.
Is this a GPE htc one?

Thanks for replying.
Yeah, "fastboot devices" turns up one entry just fine.
Yeah, there is an entry called "My HTC" under "Android Devices" in my devices manager.
No, it's not the GPE one.
Problem is still unresolved, thanks to anyone who might have advice

Haha, actually, I think I may have just figured out the problem...I got the phone from ebay and I think it already must have had bootloader unlocked. I just flashed a recovery and it worked, so I think I just successfully rooted it...
Kind of embarrassing.
I will change the title tag to [solved] as soon as I confirm.
Sorry for being a noob!
Edit: Figured it all out. Got it rooted w/ s-off. Now time to try flashing a rom...thanks all.

Hello.
I'm trying to run the "fastboot" commands on my One but I don't. I'm S-ON and full stock. When I'm in the bootloader, my PC (Windows 8.1) brand me "USB Device Not Recognized". So when I run the command "fastboot oem getvar cid", it strikes me "Waiting for devices". But when the phone is started, it is recognized by the PC. Moreover it is with the command "adb reboot bootloader" I went into the bootloader.
In summary, when the phone is started, it is recognized by the PC (the driver has been properly installed with Htc Sync Manager). But when the phone is in bootloader mode, it is not recognized by the PC and when I go to the device manager it there's a yellow triangle on the pilot "My Htc".
I need help because I have absolutely run the "fastboot" commands, thanks.

Hello Guys,
I am in a huge problem. So my microphone isnt working and i need to send my device to HTC for repairs. I am S-off using rum runner and unlocked. I use TWRP recovery and restored my device to stock nandroid backup. I did fastboot oem lock after that and tried to flash the original rom ruu but i kept getting error 155 although it said relocked on the bootloader. My Hboot was 1.44 and now suddenly it is upgraded to 1.56 maybe coz i flashed ARHD 41?
All of a sudden my touchscreen stopped working too. I am pretty sure it is something to do with touchscreen drivers. I want to reflash a rom so i can come out of all this. Can someone please help me flash a rom using fastboot since i cant use my touch screen?
I used the command fastboot flash rom rom.zip but below is the error it gave me:-

I guess so. Here is in detail what ive been doing:-
1. Connect phone via USB and i have no ROM nor any data on it right now since ive wiped the device.
2. Boot into recovery and then select adb sideload
3. Use all adb commands but it says no device found coz device is not being recognized right?
4. I am at work now and im trying on my office computer but i have one exclamation mark under other devices in device manager. It was the same on my Home computer. It just does not want to install drives for this "one" under other devices.

Thanks a ton [email protected] (bohot bohot shukriya). My phone finally came to life. I used some other driver but you really helped me and kept me going. I am attaching the drivers for someone in need sometime. Can you also help me downgrade my Hboot to 1.44 if that is possible? When i did Soff using rumrunner it just upgraded my Hboot to 1.56.

Do you have adb/fastboot and latest htc drivers on your computer? We will need to see the output of "fastboot getvar all" command so we can determine what you need to do to take the ota or to restore the phone back to stock.

You only need to install htc sync because it will install HTC drivers at the same time. HTC sync can interfere with what you'll need to do that's why you have to uninstall it after. Just uninstall HTC sync and drivers will still be on your computer unless you uninstall them manually.

I've basically two questions: First my concrete problem and second "how can I debug problems with the horrible platformTools"? Maybe you can help me solve both.
1. fastboot fails with "unknown command"
I've sucessfully build AOSP Android 10 via the instructions from Sonys Open Devices. But I'm currently stuck at the last step - flashing the images on my phone. I've successfully put the device in fastboot mode (LED is glowing blue, and "fastboot devices" lists a connected device).
But sending the vendor image fails with an "unknown command"-error
Code:
./fastboot flash oem SW_binaries_for_Xperia_Android_10.0.7.1_r1_v3_yoshino.img
Sending 'oem' (211868 KB) FAILED (remote: 'unknown command')
I'm using the newest platformTools on Ubuntu Linux 18.04. My bootloader is unlocked and I've already installed other Android Versions in the past on the phone. Any idea whats going on here and how to fix it?
2. How to debug it myself?
And as a more general approach, as some problems with fastboot/adb appear to occure almost everytime I try to use it: Any tipps on how to find the cause of the problem myself? Any logs which I should check? Any known problems which I should be aware of?

Unfortunaly not - I already had a pretty recent version, but did an update to the newest nevertheless. Problem stays the same.
I'm thinking about trying to flash the other parts first but I'm still reluctant, because I'm afraid that I might end up without a way to go back, if fastboot doesn't work reliably.

No luck... Tried it for boot, system, vendor and everytime the same error. But it seems to be a Linux-Problem. I tried it with my flatmates Windows 10 PC and there everything worked. But of cause this is no solution for the future. Any ideas why the phone doesn't understand the commands, when coming from my system?

I don't, but I assume you've set up everything properly. Can the PC see the phone under the adb devices command?
