i am now on kitkat on my note 3 att sm-900a phone.
however, when i search for location in the setting it says that location access is turned off.
when i try to open it then it shows it is set to highest accuracy.
but it is for sure not working as applications like moves fails to work.
i also tried some more apps like dragon assistant to get direction for home and it shows the same error message.
s-health also does not count steps.
any idea?

I recently started getting a pop up message at the bottom of my screen stating: "Can not download at this time. Please try again later." The message stays there for hours at a time and then will randomly disappear. I am not trying to download anything when it appears and I haven't been able to find a solution to get ride of the message that blocks the bottom part of my screen.
Is anyone else having this issue? It only started 2 days ago.
Same deal here and also I cannot data connect, I haven't done anything new these past two days so I hope some one knows
i've gotten that message too. the only way i could get rid of it was to restart the phone. no idea how it showed up
I was getting the same issue. I tried ending the SNS service and it stopped. It's probably from syncing to social networks.
awkwardsilence50: I tried disabling the SNS Service and it didn't seem to make a difference for me. I also don't have any social networking services syncing on my phone. Has this fix continued to work for you?
did you guys try updating? maybe it's trying to update but can't...
I have been getting this error as well. Based on my personal experience, it seems to be related to the "Weather & Toggle Widget" by Android Apps. I seem to always get that message when I have a bad network connection and that widget tries to update location and weather data. I have unistalled the widget and reinstalled it a couple times, and I only seem to get that message when I have the widget installed. MP13, I happen to know that you have that widget installed as well.

I have a Razr i on Orange UK, and have found that apps that use the network/cell location (instead of Wifi or GPS) don't work. I've tested this with various apps, but the problem can be seen with Google Maps:
- Disable GPS and Wifi in settings
- Tap location crosshairs and wait
- A 'waiting for location' message will appear, followed a few seconds later by 'your current location is temporarily unavailable'
I'm not sure if this is an issue with my provider (Orange) or with the phone itself. Can anyone else reproduce this issue?
I have the same issue here in Brazil with my provider (Claro).
My other 2 phones can find the location using the network, with a precision of about 1km, but RAZR i doesn't even "try" to find it. I receive the same message as you using Maps. One of that other 2 phones is a Motorola Spice XT300 (using Android 2.1 at the same provider), so this issue may be especific for this device or for the newest versions of Android.
I would like to use the location based on the network to activate wifi and other tasks with the SmartActions (without GPS, wifi and bluetooth to save battery), if somebody knows a way to make this work, I would be very thankful too.
I can try this later today on my father's Galaxy SII (using ICS too), and will post here the result if anyone doesn't post it before me.
EDIT: I tested it again, and it works! Maps could find my location with a good precision (better than 100m) only using the 3G network. By the way, the SII can do this too. I don't know why it works now, but maybe with a 2G network the device can't find the location.
I found a fix for a similar sounding issue here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9576852&postcount=108 However that fix requires root access which I'm not currently willing to try on my new Razr i.
After reading that link, I did manage to fix it for now by going to Settings > Apps > All > Google Services Framework and pressing the Clear Data button. I was prompted again to enabled Location Services. I then rebooted my phone. After a reboot the Play Store didn't work at first, but it sorted itself out after a few minutes.
I'll say that this is fixed 'for now'... some other threads discussing similar problems show that such fixes sometimes stop working after a period of time.
Hi,
I have a rooted ATT note 3 running 4.3. Everything has been working fine for months. Beginning yesterday my note 3 has been unable to access wireless network location data. GPS works fine for google maps, tasker, etc. When I try to use net location, however, (eg tasker, androsensor, weather, etc.) I am asked to enable location services which are already enabled.
I worry that I may have deleted an important file or program using clean master or ES File.
Any suggestions as to how I should proceed? I would obviously prefer not to reset, reroot, and reinstall! :crying:
Thanks,
Sean
I had same problem, turns out I had frozen something called "fused location" unfreezing it fixed the issue. Hope this helps you or someone else

Hi,
Turning off the weather app and uninstalling apps that require location seems to help somewhat if you have early GPS issues. But it seems like the longer the location apps are active, the longer GPS chip is active trying to do computation for both maps andlocation applications it increase the likely hood of overheating the GPS chip and damaging itself. My note 1 had that exact problem, i didn't know about the locations apps and 1 year later the GPS quit working permenently. Now having similar issues with Note 3, but turning off location apps does help a lot.
Hi all,
Essentially, my AT&T Galaxy S5 (running 4.4.2 rooted+custom rom) is having trouble with GPS. It works like it should, but the device always chooses high accuracy mode, instead of regular GPS mode.
This all started when I accidentally miss-clicked and pressed "never ask again". Now I can't reset that warning, nor can I find where to undo it.
Any ideas? I'm not looking to reflash the ROM and what not. It's just a hassle to turn on gps, then go to settings -> location -> choose gps only every time I need to use maps or something.
Thanks in advance!
Thanks!
Hey dudes, recently I've been having a problem with my note 5 where google maps/gps just doesn't work unless I reboot my phone. I'll put in the address and my location will be detected, but once I start driving the location doesn't move, it's as if the app is frozen, but it isn't. Rebooting and reopening the app makes it work which makes me think it must be software rather than hardware? I have factory reset the phone, but the problem persists. Any ideas for a solution?
GPS Toolbox app, use it, if it doesn't work try a different navigate app, like waze.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.eclipsim.gpsstatus2
I'm having the same problem. GPS seems to know generally where I am, but not enough to guide me through the navigation. If I ask Maps to tell me where I am right now (stationary, at home), it locates me two blocks away. If I ask Maps to navigate me while I'm on the road, it finds me a route from where it thinks I am, but is unable to update my location once I start moving. My location seems to jump around a lot during navigation and it shows me driving in the middle of the block two blocks away.
I've been trying to find an answer to this online but can't find anything helpful - my location services are on, power saving mode is off, locating method is GPS, Wi-Fi, and mobile networks. I've tried turning location off and back on, I've tried restarting the phone. Nothing works. The problems started when I woke up (e.g. didn't change the settings and suddenly it went wrong) and the phone didn't drop or anything.
GPS toolbox did nothing for me. Waze is having the same problem. I even downloaded Mapquest, thinking that Waze was using Google tech and that was the issue, and Mapquest is having the same problem. This is so frustrating - any ideas?
I have the same issue with my Note 5. I have even had my handset replaced to fix this issue. But I'm stuck with the same problem. There is something seriously wrong with these devices and Samsung needs to own up to it. Considering how much these devices cost, you'd expect everything to work.
