The carriers have gotten pretty good about blocking those who don't pay for it.
You can try to add <tether_dun_required> with a value of 0 to settings.db
If device is rooted, this might work for you: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.snclab.wifitetherrouter
It did for me

Can you all let me know what settings you used for this app? I also purchased it but the developer was unable to help me get the connection to work? It puts out a signal but the target device cannot get on the Internet. Thank you.

I'm using what's recommended in the developer's site:
For HTC M8 using this config
Interface wlan0
Method 3 - HostApd
Encryption wpa2-psk
Channel 1
Drivers nl80211
"HostApd Patch" <- UNCHECHED
https://sites.google.com/site/wifitetherrouter/home/device-configuration
Note that for the M8 if you set the encryption to wpa2-psk the devices that connect to it will connect with wpa, and vice versa.
I will try those again and will try with various devices. I couldn't get my Nexus 7 to connect online but it would see/connect to the network. Thanks

Hey everyone, I am curious if this could be ported to our phone from the HTC Evo LTE for those of you who have devices already, unlocked/rooted, could you check into this?
This was a great tool for being able to update your PRL on your phone to one of the corporate ones that allows roaming on Verizon with 3G as opposed to 1X. Not sure if it would require modification or if it should work as is.
I used this since where I currently work my commute takes me through a few dead zones and it allows me to keep 3G connection since Sprint doesn't have complete coverage out by my office.

I found a tethering work around solution!
This has only been tested on stock Verizon Kit Kat leak. I stumbled upon it by accident... by desperately trying everything i could think of to get tethering working.
Step 1. Follow the directions in this op exactly - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2456338
Step 2. Open the mobile hotspot app and enable. You will have the message saying provision has force closed. The on/off toggle will then be greyed out.
Step 3. Click on configure below the on/off toggle. Change either the password or the network name. Press save.
Step 4. The app will re associate with the provision automatically and tethering will enable! The on/off toggle will be lit up blue.
I have confirmed it works by connecting devices to the tether network and opening webpages. The only catch is every time you want to enable the tether again you have to repeat steps 2 thru 4. Change something in the tether settings AFTER enabling and provisioning fc's.... the tether will enable every time.
Rock on!

Did you delete the hotspot apk? The provisioning apk and odex file should be deleted but the actual mobile hotspot apk should remain untouched. Also make sure you set the proper permissions on the new provisioning apk before rebooting after you stick it in the system app folder.

While hotspot is including in my corporate line with them. I do admit it is one of the best tether applications for tethering. The built in one's seem to lag from LG, even the one on my Sprint LG OG.
But has anyone thought of using an apk with root perms to moves the files and then set perms? Then reboot. I used to do that with certain mods on my OG with camera mods etc.

Most of the AT&T share plans include tethering when in the past tethering was only for certain plans or extra. So maybe it depends on the data plan? If your plan includes it, you shouldn't even need Foxfi.
I have an unlimited data plan that I have had for the past 5 years.

I'm a gamer and changed from the note 2 t889.
I still have to play on my note 2 cause my controller just won't connect. Seems like I've tried everything including but not limited to Bluetooth xposed modules to totally different apps but nothing seems to be compatible. I'm frustrated having to play on my outdated device.
I do have a moga controller but hate it and am going to return it.
Any ideas anyone.
Thanks in advance for your time.
How were you making the connection?
I have a PS3 controller and mine works fine when I plug it to the phone using the USB cable.

I'm connecting through Bluetooth with the six axis controller app so i can modify the buttons to my liking ya know.
I play mc4 religiously daily. The native gamepad imho sucks dingleberries
I'm also having trouble pairing it, works flawlessly over OTG but bluetooth is a no go. I've noticed on videos that work the bluetooth icon shows up on the notification bar but on my note 4 (rooted) it doesn't appear when I press start. If anyone has a fix please post it! Share your knowledge!
I'm having the same problem on my N910C.

Are you rooted by chance?
For sixaxis to work you have to freeze Bluetooth share 4.4.4.

Have you done this? I'm gonna give it a shot right now. I'll be reporting back.
I have. I have my own thread where I was having this problem.
I found the answer on another thread in the accessories forum.
Been playing with my sixaxis on emulators for a while now.

Wireless right?
Yep.
I can't access the thread on my phone. Tapatalk won't let me open the accessories forum.
But a few other users reported this fix as working for them also.

Yeah, hopefully they will do something to fix this soon.
Don't forget to unfreeze Bluetooth share anytime you need to use a Bluetooth device though.

This is the only thing I ever need Bluetooth for so I'll probably delete it.

Excellent. Link please. I have a homemade one that I made out of Boston clips and zip ties which works surprisingly well. I have been using them for over 2 years straight playing mc4 on my note 2 and now on my note 4. I made 2 of them, one for home and one for the office lol (lunchbreak). Here's what they look like. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2417591.
If anyone wants to friend me on mc4 my profile name is:
I_KUMSHOT_UR_FACE
Make sure you send me an in game message to let me know your from xda.
Hope to see some of you in battle
